For the same reason that Geedubbs just released new dwarves. To have new shit to fuck around with.
>>
>>52867705
Dwarves were in terrible state tho, as GW stated in their second AoS livestream ever on twitch.
Aelves being good mean they BTFO at the back of the queue, and waot for my Skellingtons
>>
>>52867727
By that logic, why release new minis at all? Especially with the way AoS works it'd be trivial to just make balance adjustments to the existing shit. There's more to this hobby than just wargaming; there's also collecting, modelling and painting. That's what people want new releases for and GW does it because it's a great way to sell lots of minis.

Anything with shooting and/or 4+ armour will murder you. Witch Aelves have cool models but are really shafted by GWs retarded descission to give them a - armour save. No amount of Mystic Shield or cover will make those ladies more survivable and the 6+ they get from the calduron is really nothing to rely on.

So, I am thinking about puying a plageclaw for my Beastmen, using Ungors as crew and getting rid of all the cables and most of the metal. I know Beastmen are supposed to not build shit, but the plageclaw model fits really well with the charriot and I kinda can imagine ungors gleefully using crude machines to sling shit at their opponents.

Cool or no?

Does anyone know what the seraphon list was that took 4th place at the south cost grand tournament? It seemed to be lard kroak on a vortex with a bunch of ripperdactyls.

I don't know if there was a astrolith bearer but would you double the range of Kroaks spells and then add 8" or would you add 8" and then double the spell range? If the latter, celestial deliverance would have an average range of 38" aoe which is just about the whole board.

I honestly don't understand why more Stormcast players don't use Skyborne Slayers. Imo it's by and far the best Battalion for SCE, mix of all units, easiest charge after Deep Strike, most control over timing and positioning. The only "downside" is that you have to take Decimators and a foot Lord-Celestant, which aren't even bad.

Everyone is trying to make shooting or Stardrake lists work and here I am just dropping 10 Protectors up Tzeentch's ass and wiping out whole units of Skyfires.
>>
>>52868881

>>
>>52868096
You control both effects so you can apply them in whatever order you want. So you can add 8" first then double it with the vortex.

I've been saying Kroak + Vortex is top tier for a very long time, glad to see somebody brought it to a proper tournament.

Its worth noting that SCGT has some custom rules that slightly warp the metagame. You can't stack any buff with the same name.

It's weird that they allowed the Vortex, since most tournaments outright ban it.

I'm not gonna pretend some of this isn't really off-putting and unrecognizable even from other AoS artwork, plus i just think steampunk dwarves look shit in general i'll certainly never play KO

One thing i will compliment GW on is the design choices for the army composition, Skyports, footnotes, codes, etc and how even though these sub-factions are all very new they almost feel like they could have existed in the lore forever, it's kind of like Space marine chapter tactics

As a Skaven play i am jelly as fuck, why couldn't the clans have been organized in such a way?

it's fine that you need company validation and attention to feel good about your army. But it would be nice if people could just admit they like 'the shiny things' instead of acting like its important for the game's balance or something like that.

>Aetherstrike is cool and all but instantly loses to Skyfires, Kurnoth Hunters
Not if you do it right.

Bring Protectors to screen your raptors and a lord castellant with Lantern of the Tempest artifact. With Staunch Defender and the lantern buff you're looking at:

>all enemies have -1 shooting (-2 if you bring 2 squads of Protectors)
>reroll shooting hit6 (even destiny dice get rerolled, no guaranteed mortal wounds)
>raptors have 2+ save

Skyfires do almost nothing to a good aetherstrike list.

Obviously they mean All except TK's and Brets. with maybe the odd except like Slaanesh maybe Gutbuster

Try fighting Stormcast or Tzeentch as Beastmen or Clan Moulder, there are undeniable problems with certain legacy forces, and i just want everyone to be a closer playing field personally, i don't care what book is new or shiny

But why would you run a Clan Moulder list? When you can run a mixed chaos lists? That's my point. People trying to force poor monofaction lists when there's like zero reason for that.
>>
>>52869336
That is why I am thinking about the second unit. The first one can stay put on my "home" objective while the other one moves up. 240 is really low and since the support pieces they need are in my army anyways (sisters, waywatcher general, spellweaver) they should be able to stand one or two turns of not getting their standing still bonus when moving up. With a Shadowdancer they shouldn't need more than one turn of movement to get anywhere anyways.

Only Skaven can be exposed to Warpstone and survive or even use it to heal their wounds or augment magic in small doses. All other mortal creatures will begin to wither and sicken, eventually they will mutate.

An Ogre would be tough enough to resist it even Chaos ogres only show minor mutations like horns or small spikes. you should consider painting the skin on his knuckles and arm pale as it is slowly killing him, but warpstone is very hard and makes for a good blunt weapon, and will attract more Skaven to come and fight him for it

Basically you get cancer

Play what you like

I don't want to shit all over you for liking the Skyborne Slayers - it's a fun battalion and a has a very cool playstyle.

If you like SS then try the Warrior Brotherhood. It's like SS but better. Use the old Knight-Azyros warscroll and wonderful things happen
>>
>>52869333
Ogres are very resistant to Chaos corruption but prolonged exposure leads them to develop some mutations.

Other Ogres don't mind the mutations at all. In fact, they are a bit jealous of them because an extra limp or mouth helps with the eating.

>>
>>52869758
I know exactly what makes it "strong". Sayl + Bloodletters first turn charge with skyfires shooting your key units.
It has the option to use Saul + Stormfiends instead if theres a big enough threat that Skyfires can't deal with it alone, but then your bloodletters get shot to bits and lose their bonuses.

If you lose to such a basic strategy you're a moron

Its an easy win for my aetherstrike list

I have less drops so I force him to go first.

I deploy my raptors outside the threat range of his Sayl + Stormfiend combo

He uses Sayl on his Bloodletters, they get countercharged by birds, and the retaliation fire whittles them down to ~14-16 models remaining.

Skyfires can't do meaningful damage to my raptors because of the protectors (-1 hit), staunch defender (+1 save), and lantern of the tempest (reroll hit6). They can't do anything to my heroes because they either have a mirrorshield + staunch defender + lantern of the tempest (azyros), get deployed off the board (heraldor, venator), or are completely out of line of sight (castellant/veritant)

Now in my turn I shoot in the hero phase, shoot in the shooting phase, and after charging my judicators and birds into him I can shoot him in the combat phase after he kills those units.

Cunning deceiver helps him survive the first turn. If I get a double turn the game is basically over - the full shooting power of an aetherstrike is enough to table his army, or at least deal a crippling blow.

I've played against much tougher lists than this mixed chaos garbage

And before anyone says that "No, the KO players that dont want to paint the right colours are the WAAC ones!", what sounds more like someone desperately trying to get an advantage:
A KO player who has their own colour scheme that they come up with, wanting to use one of the skyports rules, or

Their opponent at the other end of the table, screeching about how they are not allowed to use any of those rules and they have to play without them, knowing that this weakens the KO player.

There is nothing about "science fiction" in AoS. As for me, it looks much like WoW now (uber-technological dwarves and such), but without awful cartoonish style and boobs everywhere. Barbaric/classic fantasy/grim aspect is yet to be established, as the universe is really young and much, much bigger then lots of similar fantasy worlds.

There isn't a rule book. The rules are free. You can find them in the back of any AOS campaign book or battletome, or the GW website, or the official Age of Sigmar phone app, or get a printed copy from any GW store

>what's the difference between the game modes and which one has points?
Open Play is the basic version of the game. Players can bring whatever they want to the table, and you're encouraged to have a conversation with your opponent and try to set up a fun game for all players.

Matched Play is more organized and competitive. There are rules for force organization and point costs. Formations and summoned units cost points. You can find the rules for this game mode in the General's Handbook (check the OP)

Two guard staples, entire sectors are gone and they are mentioned as side stories about space Marines.

Imperial Guard has been wiped out by the Great Nothing, and the genocide wasn't noticed except as quick side notes in other faction's and race's books.

No. SE, like both Space Marines and IRL special forces, are there to rapidly strike the enemy's weak points and make the operations easier for the other infantry. They fold pretty easily once they get outnumbered and stuck in battles of attrition.

City of Secrets has them get rekt by tzeentch cultists and tzaangors because for every one guy a liberator pulps with his hammer, eight more are jumping on him and shooting warpflame at him.

Humans are needed to hold the forces of evil at bay and it would be a mistake to rely on the stormcast for everything.

"Even more rekt" isn't really true, stormcast and freeguild were both slaughtered down to a handful.

That being said, the point wasn't that Stormcast are less powerful than freeguild, the point is that they're not super warriors who can go in outnumbered 100 to 1 and come out okay.
>>

Abilities that don't effect turn order roll has no effect

The points shared by GW were a "preview" of a work in progress version of the new GHB. They were not final or official. Choosing to use them is by definition using custom point values.

Not allowing more than 1 ability of the same name to be active and making a hit roll of 6 always succeed is changing the fundamentals of the game.

>Rolling prayers into the same rule of one that was written without prayers in mind.
Because slaughterpriests and lord-relictor didn't exist before the GHB, right?

GW could make all the changes that the SCGT has made, but don't pretend that the SCGT is anything but an independent scene with a ton of house rules and that it can be used to debate the state of matched play.

Because you basically just deep strike your speed bump units unless you really go full throttle on protectors. It's great fun if you like running units of 20 liberators though, you'll get surprisingly good damage out of 4 grandhammers with a celestant buff and staunch defender.

Hammerstrike works because you can shove 10-20 retributors right in someone's face on your own terms and that'll make a serious dent with their starsouls alone. Protectors and decimators lose what makes them special if they take starsouls so it's kind of a wash to do the same thing with them.

On the same unit. So you cant stack bloodsecrator buffs

>and making a hit roll of 6 always succeed is changing the fundamentals of the game.
So you dont have situations where you can make models immune to damage.

None of these are even extreme changes, or even out of character with rules in the GHB. They hardly even affect the way you build your army, with the exception that youre no longer spamming characters for the same buff or trying to pull off some janky borderline cheating nonsense.

>>muh humans do nothing against high fantasy meme

Let me stop you here.

Humans even in the old world were capable of some pretty crazy shit just due to their limited (in comparison to the mortal realms) access to magic.

Altdorf and Couronne were massive capitals with nearly impossible architecture and walls that would make the nights watch jealous.

Nuln had cannons so large they could wheel wagons down the barrel. Skaven had to fucking sink the city to defeat them.

Also don't forget the college of magic made a 200 mile wall out of magic to keep chaos at bay for months before Gelt fucked it all up.

The humans of the mortal realms are like this ^2. If you've ever played dark souls 3 and seen just how massive the human built buildings are in that, that's how humans are in the mortal realms.

Greywater fastness and Hammerhal are the definition of gigantism in architecture and are defended by magic and magitech that makes the feats of the old world seem puny.

Hey they were finished being built not even 18 hours ago! The freaking superglue from magnetizing the main gun on the Arkanaut Frigate and the Arkanaut Company Captains is still giving off fumes.

JUST

I actually took that into account...I did not glue the captain, Endrinrigger, or the Navigator into place just so I could paint them (and the completely ridiculous control panel) before gluing them in

They need a unit with long range that does mortal wounds or has -2 rend that can produce 10+ damage per turn in the 500 point range.

The other tools there already to build around with strong units like Ghoulking on Terrorgheist, Crypt Horrors, Vargheist, Morghast Archai, VLoAT.

Bat Swarms costing 60 and giving 12" cover to your own units instead of debuffing the enemy would help. Another source of +1 attack available to Spirit Host would help.

Brayherd player here. Bonus points if you have it slinging literal shit.
>>
>>52873823
They're are fast and fly, have and rend, and do some of the best raw unbuffed damage per point of any unit in the game. Of course they are also worse than Tzaangor Enlightened in every way.

>>52868126
>playing dispossessed vs seraphon
>buff unit of 10 ironbreakers in cover with ancestral shield, make shieldwall
>negate roughly ~30 wounds a turn with rerollable 3+ saves ignoring rend -1, and a 6+ save after that, and some spectacularly good rolling
>do this for 3 turns, opponent about ready to flip table
>finally manages to kill like 8 at once; line finally breaks
>lost game, but very happy with how well my guys held their ground

Help a beardling out?

You pretty much stack every single synergy bonus you can get with a shitload of characters and longbeards.

You get rerolls and pluses to hit galore and it makes it kind of retarded.

Sort of like grey knights when they first came out and would wipe the floor with someone only having like 30 models on the table.
