I want to get into tabletop gaming. More precisely, pen and paper ones like D&D, Pathfinder and such.
How can I start? I don't know where to meet people with those interests, and none of my friends want to try it. Finding a group seems impossible.
Play online. Alternatively, learn to DM and ask your friends.

roll20 is the big hub for online gaming, though from my own experience you will have to go through 4 groups before you find a good one

See if there's a shop that does adventurers league.
Mine does weekly Thursdays, always a decent turnout and fun.

idk, than try craigslist (or equivalent) to find people to play with or roll20. ive played with people ive found online and only ever had a problem with one because sometimes he'd show up and sometimes wouldnt and wouldnt give warning when he wasnt

As >>52859714 said roll20 is pretty great, you can even find groups for more niche games.

I live in a college town that has about 100,000 permanent residents; we have two notable game shops, and people leave notices on bulletin boards looking for games/players. See if any store in your area does something like that.

Backpage and craigslist.
Hire crackwhores to play. They're often very good at rpgs. And they're cheap, and will play topless.

Not OP, but are these people looking for players at the shops or meeting separately? I've always wanted to join a tabletop group but I've heard horror stories about stores which have been somewhat confirmed by my experiences at them. I also have no interest in buying anything so I don't just want to leech off the store owner providing space.
