I'm sure most of you have a 'fantasy/sci-fi art' folder for inspiration and such.
Mine is pretty small and I'd like to expand it with your help.
Everything is welcome, be it characters, NPCs, enemies, landscapes, items, etc....
Gonna drop a couple pictures that I got, all character/NPC art tho

is this a picture for ants
I'm looking for a certain image I've seen before.
It's a brown-feathered bird with the head of a young girl, like the harpies in ancient Greek lore. When it opens its mouth, it looks like the interior of a beak. The artist is Japanese.
Does anyone know the image I'm talking about?

Using it! Thanks!

Christ. I'm usually not one for the "overly detailed, everything-but-the-kitchen-sink" aesthetic, but even I can't deny the attention to detail the artist had in all these pieces.
Please tell me this is something real.

You have to be some sort of next-level Saracen to not let out an involuntary "Gloria in excelsis Deo" when you see this in person.

Or you have to live in cologne. It just becomes a normal sight and most of the time I don't even really take notice. Quite sad actually...

Bump
This thread has been great so let me dump some of mine, excuse the filenames, I use them as notes for my campaign.
If anybody here is playing in the setting of Altheim with Steve as DM, please leave the thread.

my fucking nigerian prince
One of these will get me maybe 3-4 sessions, or at least an interesting combat encounter.
>>52856021
I use them as background imagery when I don't need the screen for encounter maps in roll20. Though these specifically are from a campaign that wasn't run in roll20.
>>52856061
Stealing these my man.
I run two games in person, so I usually find it helpful after a description to turn the laptop around and say, like
>It pretty much looks like this
Also good for tone of the dungeon/adventure. I use the laptop for random tables, mood music and pdf's for rules anyway so it's great having visual stuff there. Would eventually love a secondary screen that I can keep the locations on while we play.

If they'll be useful to you, I'll post more.

Though the majority of them are nature photos.

It's a small land-that-time-forgot (except with fairies instead of dinosaurs) created by the old and now-dead god of art. It's north of the arctic circle, in-land, so temperatures vary pretty widely over the course of the year.
Tech-level-wise it started roughly medieval in era even though the game was set in the modern day, but 200 years and magical corruption later they had progressed to an atompunk era while the rest of the world had lived through and rebuilt after a nuclear war.

Sounds like a classy setting anon, I'm envious. System/type of game?
Mine are all from Altheim, a setting where dragons killed the gods and ruled the mortal races, then had to give power to mortal servants because it turns out dragons are great conquerors but awful rulers.
Mortals overthrow the dragons and wipe them out in one long night of betrayal and now the entire land is a post-draconic industrial-magitech revolution.
Let's me get away with using steampunk-y/diesel punk art without having to go with that kind of setting, keeps the magic in the air.
Good thread, keep up the fine work
>>52856448
Homebrew game and system. And I do like me a 'light' steampunk, where industry rules but it doesn't have men in period costume gluing gears to things for no reason. I'm running a different game in a dieselpunk fantasy WW1 at the moment.

All this art you've posted also heavily suits the "Frozen North, Crawler Crew" idea that a bunch of anons brainstormed a while back.
Wherein maybe following a global-warming or magnetic disaster, most of the earth is frozen as fuck and people live in small enclaves around what warmth or resources remain, and huge arctic crawler crews are the only link between them for medicine, supplies and such.
It told of their tales, the strange new life forms they encountered, the ghosts of dead travellers, etc.
Sounded comfy as fuck, would probably have to homebrew it or run it in an RP heavy system but. Saving most of these in a seperate folder for when that day comes.
>>52856531
And I've saved several pics here for my next campaign arc.

Ships I'm looking for are functionally similar to The Millennium Falcon. Bulkier freighter-type ships that have been retrofitted for combat and better performance. Can take out small groups of fighters and contribute to taking down larger ships. Also space to sustain a small crew (~20) on long voyages and store cargo.
