What makes a spaceship cool?
Radiators and heat exchange.
Coolant and cold emptiness of space
This isn't necessarily related to what makes a spaceship cool. I just want to point out from the scaling presented in that pick high charity would make all of those ships look like toys. So, I guess my answer you your question is sheer size.
For scale.

What series?

Halo

And Bolder's Ring is bigger than the entire fucking galaxy. What's your point?

Except High charity is more of a city/station than it is a ship and as such doesn't qualify.
The illusion of functionality.
It doesn't have to be hard Scifi, but I like my ship to look like their different parts have a purpose. Star wars is a good example imo.

Greebles

The "space-" part, obviously. Add "space-" to just about anything, and it is instantly cooler.*
Aliens? Immigrants are about as cool as any other person, which is not much at all. but SPACE-Aliens? Fuck yeah.
Pirates? Eh, pretty cool, but nothing compared to SPACE pirates. Gas station? Arms race? lazer? Boring, boring, and kinda cool. Space station? Space race? Space lazer? Cool, cool, and FUCKING cool!
*the only exception is Jason Voorhees, who was decidedly NOT made cooler by space, somehow.
I'm still trying to figure that one out...

The crew.

Thin circles always look cool on spaceships
You can tell that whatever race designed it is a "smart" race if it has circles
Bonus points if there's more than one they're perpetually rotating around an energy core of some kind
>What makes a spaceship cool?
having a continent-sized zoo/resort.

The Vulcan ship rings are a nod to the Alcubierre design for a warp drive that's being worked on in real life.

My nigga.
Basically the more it's scientifically sensible the better, unless it really makes it boring.
In my space opera games the standard is basically a torchship so yeah, the noble has a proper 100 sqm suite to entertain guests and not appear a poorfag, but still there is no artificial gravity because there is no need for that.

>Thats being worked on in real life
No, that has a small fringe amount of theoretical research going into it in real life
