I believe it has been around ten days since Spheres of Might's legendary talents were first introduced. I tried to convince the Spheres of Might writers that the Oversized Weapons and Stable Shooter talents were bad ideas, but they do not seem to have listened, and so here is what they now reap.

Let us see what Oversized Weapons and Stable Shooter can do on a 6th-level spheremighter, shall we?

This is why Oversized Weapons and Stable Shooter are bad ideas.

A couple of flavors.

The Standard summoner gets an Animal Companion++, which lets you play a pretty good mage (prior to Unchained nerfing the spell list, Summoner was basically a 9th-level caster disguised as a 6th-level one) while also having a bodyguard/second character that could be just as good or better than a martial at their jobs. Also you get a way better Summon Monster as a class feature and can buttfuck action economy.

Master Summoner weakens your Eidolon but nothing is keeping you from retaining its services by putting all its points into skill stuff and having a utility monster on tap. Then you make the rest of the party superfluous with your buffed Summon Monster class feature and REALLY fuck the action economy to death.

Then there's the synthesist summoner, who instead of summoning their guardian merges with it as a suit of armor and gains its combat abilities and phsysical stats. Unlike every other summoner, it DOESN'T buttfuck the action economy but people realized something was wrong when an arthritic octogenarian can summon up his extraplanar megazord and become both a caster and a considerably better fighter than the fighter.

In any case I finally ran another session with my players, they had a fun time taking down an encampment of human, non-human and animal trafficker bandits in the attempt to rescue the daughter of a nearby town's mayor.

Combat took quite a bit of time since there was a lot of enemies in the camp, and the party even made peace with the Shadow drake and Fairy dragon they were pranked around earlier by to do the job. One player almost died but in the end you could say they... made out like bandits taking the defeated enemy's supplies.

You already need GM permission to take either of the talents this character is built around as per legendary rules, so the GM has to know what they're getting into if they green-light this.

And secondly people like the idea of being able to use oversized weaponry. It's a concept as old as Beowulf and very well-represented in media, but 1pp huffs and fusses if you ever try to make someone that can actually use a fire giant's greatsword.

It seems wrong that you would be obligated to deny someone the right to build Guts because the -possibility exists- that someone might focus entirely on dice-stacking with a gun that's not even in the PRD.

Stable Shooter simply should not exist. Oversized Weapons should confer a nondamage benefit instead of a raw damage increase, such as repositioning enemies from the sheer force of blows.

So here's my thinking on this whole 'Paladin Code Conflict' debacle.

At the end of the day, a Paladin needs to be Lawful Good. This is not the same as being Lawful AND Good. Wyrm is indeed a problematic Oath when it comes to that. It's the age-old conundrum, but with a twist. Do I be Lawful, or do I be Good?

The twist however, comes in the form of the Paladin asking of himself a single question.

"Is this oath just?"

Paladins don't follow unjust laws.

I am here again to talk about the Unchained Wizard.

After the discussion before everyone got me thinking and overall people were correct that some of the Legendary Spells were underwhelming. Probably the biggest example of this were the 1st level legendary spells.

In order to correct this I removed 1st level Legendary Spells entirely and took out the Arcane Breakthrough at 1st level (as the wizard already gets a lot of class features 1st level). Now like an alchemist with there discoveries the UC wizard receives 10 total Arcane Breakthroughs, one every even level.

Now since there are no 1st level Legendary Spells what is there to spend your Arcane Breakthrough on at 2nd level? Examples include Summon Familiar, Opposition Research, Extra Arcane Energy, Extra School Power, Heightened School Power, and some ported over Arcane Discoveries.

As well the feat requirements for Legendary Spells seems and feel clunky in a lot of ways. So I am tossing around a few ideas that might work instead:

>Spell Requirements
In order to get Teleport you need Dimension Door in your spell book. This means that wizards who want to qualify have little opportunity cost though as they can just scribe in the required qualification spells.

>Other Legendary Spells
Already partially a thing, like the Legendary Spell Teleport is required to get Greater Teleport. However this one doesn't solve the initial buy in.

>Another Arcane Breakthrough
One must take something such as Advanced Research (Illusion) in order to begin qualifying for Illusion Legendary Spells, however this is blatantly a tax so I'm pretty much throwing this out from the get go.

>School Requirement
Since the UC wizard works on having both Opposition and Banned schools this would be one can not gain Legendary Spells from Opposition schools (in addition to Banned Schools)

Summary of Changes:

A +3 damage bonus on a greatsword for a talent doesn't bother me if it's letting someone get the proper Berserk feel. I fear otherwise your necessary evil will come across as "you get extra-large weapons but not really."

New campaign, new character needed, looking for some input in making something broken.

So my players are behind on WBL and I've got a plan to catch them up that fits nicely into the campaign's narrative. Currently, the party is running around in the First World, and I was thinking they run across a traveling gypsy caravan that sells all sort of magical items. They'll even sell the items to the PCs at a pretty sizable discount, if the PCs are willing to pay with some other non-monetary things instead... So I need to come up with a lot of innocuous sounding things that a fae might ask for as part of a bargain. Things like "a cool mid-Summer breeze", "the taste of love turned bittersweet", "your best smile", or "the sound of one hand clapping". All four of those are bargains I've already written down, with an appropriate "translation" of what it actually means (for example, "your best smile" means the PC would take a one-time penalty to the next diplomacy check they make, as they find themselves unable to put on a friendly face.

The bargains need to sound innocent enough that my players won't immediately balk at the idea of taking one, but also vague enough that they'll have trouble guessing what they mean. I also want to avoid bargains that are too harsh; this isn't meant to punish players, it's meant to be a way for them to catch up on WBL that's more entertaining than throwing gear at them in a dungeon's loot pile.

So, any ideas?

He's supposed to be a black knight-type character, and Bloodrager was meant to be for "I'm also fuck-off strong and picked up a little bit of magic." I -do- plan to play him as being pretty ferocious though; He has a code of ethics so he does stuff like letting women and children go, always leaves one person alive so they can tell others (and also so they'll maybe buck-up and become heroes that could actually take him down. Long story, focusing on mechanics for now), but outside the few tenants he has set for himself, -everything- is permitted, and in fact should be turned up to eleven so people have someone to fear.

People think the gunslinger with hackbut is overpowered now? Even without 3pp this isn't far from what I did two weeks ago.

I was told two weeks ago here that gunslingers could never be taken seriously and needed 3pp to be good, and you should just always do fighter longbow instead since it was always superior and gunslinger was trash. I theorycrafted a 20pb level 8 gunslinger that could do 100 dpr before enhancements or stat boosts, hitting touch AC, using 1pp only. Only boost in this is haste. 14 str composite bow user (what I was being compared to) with haste at level 8 is 82.5 dpr hitting normal AC (five attacks a round, no chelish noble though, how many PCs are chelish nobles)

In my original post and notes I had bonuses like enhancement and dex gear applied to both, I stripped those away for this (though I did forgot Rapid Shot for firearms in the original anyway). Bow user having 5 attacks to 4 means damage boosts mean more, but that 4.5 average base compared to 13 base is a pretty big difference, and hackbut hits touch ac within 50 feet without deeds.
