So I'm Building a Deathwatch army. I have my current one with watch captain Artemis, vanguard veterans, Regular vets, A corvus, and a full squad of Termies. With how they're all set up it's 1175 points. Any suggestions for finishing up a 1500 point army?

So I am a johnny come late trying eternal crusade because it's free - I'm finding it pretty frustrating and not fun like space marine's multiplayer was. Learn to melee.
New players, who are identifiable because they have no armour mods, open with a fast attack. Counter with a D-bash then hip-fire into the upper torso/head area.
Experienced players will usually open with a strong attack because it has the least risk while doing a lot of damage. Roll *past* them and keep running. Your roll has invincibility frames and will stop you getting killed quickly.
The best counter to melee is climbing on top of a box and laying into them.
An enemy team will spam Heavy Bolters until you get smart and start sniping them with a Lascannon. Use the master crafted Lascannon if you have it. If they see you and start firing, move. The suppression is too much to be able to fire back and will draw attention to your position.
>>
>>52792518
How about you grab some rhinos (or rhino variants like razorback or predators) or a drop pod instead of Land Raiders? Landraiders are OK, but not great, there's better stuff for the points.

Did anyone else notice that the Siege of Vraks Second Edition in the Mega stops at p. 153 and picks up again at 202?

No rules are missing (DKoK starts on 202) but it's missing like 50 pages.

Of course, it being a second edition (and one that condensed three volumes into one) I'm sure the fluff is unchanged from the original iA 5/6/7, it's just weird.

Hey anons, I have a box of Sniper Scouts and a box of regular Scouts. I've been asking around on how I should equip them, but I've been getting conflicting answers, so I'm still not 100% sure. Should I go all bolters and Missile Launcher or HBolter for the regular guys, and have them camp an objective, so no need for the bolter's mobility, or just give the sergeant a pistol and chainsword and save points? And for the sniper scouts, should I give them all snipers, or give one of them a Missile Launcher or Heavy Bolter?

And what guns should I give Devastators? I've been told that Missile Launchers are good, and bad, so I'm not sure about them. Plasma Cannons look fun and are fluffy, but they each have a 1/6 chance of not firing and possibly hurting the user, but four S7 AP2 blasts should kill a lot of stuff. Lascannons or Multi-meltas also seem pretty good.

And finally, how should I equip Assault Marines? I want to give the sergeant an Eviscerator and a Combat Shield so that he can take on most things and have a chance to survive duels against AP3 or better, and because I think it'd look really cool. I don't know what to give the other guys who can take stuff though. Flamers seem like a good idea, -1 Attack for the chance to roast a lot of stuff doesn't seem all that bad. Plasma Pistols seem pretty strong and keep the extra attack for pistol and chainsword, as well as being fluffy, but they are pretty expensive at 15 points.
>>
>>52794005
You're not going to win, so just bring your favorite models and let the WAAC wash over you like ocean waves.

If you roll well and do bring down a 2++/2++ lord of change with a lasgun, it will made for a good anecdote.

>>52794105

>>
>>52794086
Anon posted a DA Assault Marine for his pic, so it seems obvious, though he should have specified.
>>
>>52792884

I'll give it a try, though I wouldn't be able to do the climbing up onto a box before they eviscerate me. It's been an annoying affair of whichever class I am I get instakilled by another. If I'm melee then it's a heavy bolter, if I am apothecary or tactical it's heavy bolter or melee, if I am heavy bolter it's melee. There was a case where I was a tactical Chaos marine and I caught a stealthed eldar (I forget the class, sword and pistol, green color) and even laying into him with a 1-2 second head start with my bolter he managed to go and melee spam me. If I am using the heavy bolter it seems fine but anything else feels like I am firing wet noodles.

It's free so I can't bitch too much, I just remember more fun with spess mehreen than with it.
>>
>>52794064
You can swap the chainsword on the sargent for a plasma pistol and going flying gunslinger.
>>
>>52794064

If you plan on actually USING your scouts, give them sniper rifles and if points aren't an issue, cloaks as well. If they are just there to save you points and be cheaper than tactical marines, leave them with bolters. If you want them to melee for whatever stupid reason, give them chainswords not shotguns, and put them in a Land Speeder Storm.

Devastators should only be grav-cannons or lascannons unless you are Salamanders or Skyhammer. Grav-cannons for power, Lascannons for long range.

Assault Marines should just be 5 in a free Rhino or Drop Pod with 2 flamers and maybe a melta bomb. If you actually want to have them be jump marines, switch the Rhino for jump packs. Combat shield is fucking useless but looks cool if it's from the newest kit. Eviscerators aren't worth the points but I have them for coolness and just count them as chainswords. Pistols of any sort are never worth paying points for unless you are a 30K Moritat. Ideally you would have 2 melta guns for every 5 assault marines but only Blood Angels get that so we settle for 2 flamers.

Should I keep the lasher-tendrils or swap them for a power scourge on the Helbrute?
>>
>>52794064
>>52794115
Ah, should have guessed from the pic. Not sure how much helpful advice I can give there. I would say going with all Snipers for Scouts is probably better, and that Plasma pistols on assault marines are pretty wasteful.
>>
>>52794064
Sniper scouts are great. Give them a missile launcher for some krak oomph on top of their snipers.
For regular scouts, either go bolters and heavy bolter/M-launcher for a budget tactical squad, or fill them with assault weapons, give the sarge meltabombs, and throw them in a landspeeder to rush/ outflank artillery, commanders, etc.
>>
>>52794210
Infantry MLs are never worth buying full price, only CML/TML/vehicle variants for less points per shot/discounted prices. Heavy weapons are never worth it on non-Relentless units unless it has the word grav in its name or is something like a heavy flamer.

I like to play HoR Kill Team and want to make a Kill Team so as to not use my regular Ultramarines units for one. I'm not sure what chapters I should have on the Kill Team or what type of Marine they should be. I've already decided having A Carcharodon as part of the team.
What do?
>>
>>52794170
You shouldn't bother with the hellforged because both the helbrute sucks regardless of whether it's only there to die.
Daemon Engine pack is better with one ecto fiend that gets BS5 and a mauler with tendrils
>>
>>52794323
Don't be autistic, skulls collected are what matters. At least I'm not one of those homosexuals who make WE lists where half the units are ranged.

>>52794346
1) Why does the Helbrute suck?
2) How about that same formation but full Maulerfiend?
3) I'm trying to avoid picking fully ranged units in my Khornate army
>>
>>52794155
That does sound cool, but man, I really like the idea of a dude with an Eviscerator. Chainswords are 40k. Giant Chainswords just scream 40k to me, y'know what I mean, anon?

>>52794161
I dunno, I think they'd be good for holding objectives since they can get some early movement with their special rules, right? I don't really like grav cannons since they seem like a really cheesy and overly powerful option, though lascannons seem pretty nice. I was wondering about Missile Launchers, because I could get away with only needing one box of Devastators if I used two Missile Launchers from the tactical squad boxes. Yeah, the flamers on the Assault Marines seem like a good idea to me.

>>52794175
Yeah, Flamers seem like a superior choice, which makes me feel kinda sad, because Plasma Pistols are cool, man. I was thinking of giving the Sniper dudes the Missile Launcher or maybe the Heavy Bolter, since the Missile Launcher packs a nice punch, but the HBolter is the same range as the snipers, so I'm not sure. But all Snipers does seem pretty good too.

>>52794210
Yeah, a Missile Launcher sounds like a good idea, and I think I'll go with Bolters with a HBolter for my Scouts.

>>52794247
That's a real shame, because I'd like to give Tac squads Heavy Weapons, but then I noticed that you snapfire if you move with a Heavy weapon, so I think I'll just give them Plasma guns, probably.

I forgot to mention that I want to play Dark Angels, sorry anons! So I can't put the Scouts in Land Speeders, even if the Scout Land Speeder model looks really cool.
>>
>>52794413
You dont have to take the eviscerator on the sarg, it's better that you dont anyway because then he cant be challenged out.
>>
>>52794458
That's true, but I just think it'd be cool. Plus, wouldn't it be better for a Veteran sergeant to take the Eviscerator rather than have another guy with it and him have a meltabomb? Then again, I think that's actually the same amount of attacks with the same profile, huh.
>>
>>52794397
The helbrute is a worse dreadnought with expensive upgrade weapon options on a platform that will last as long as a solo unmarked obliterator for more points.
You REALLY want to have a forge for the ballistic skill benefit. It may be shooting, but it's a dragon shooting laser beams. Khorne does shoot from time to time.

Thanks for the advice. I was always a Mars fan, but IG armor was the best fit back then. Now with AdMech being a real army, I mix them together. They mix very well and keep my LRs alive.

I usually have no issue with Tau, and the guy who plays Tau is extremely unfair but pie plates for days fix that issue.

I will create a narrative, IG Armor and AdMech allies FTW.
>>52794084
I'm a 50/50 W/L casual but I figured this might be fun. I'll make as strong a list I can, but I'm IG so don't mind losing. DESU, it's still enjoyable to me if the other player isn't a dick (tau).
I'll go mainly all IG Armor and AdMech Destroyers (with gravguns) with Pask Punisher being the most 'troll' level character I'll have.
>>52794049
waacfags, only one of my buddies does this but over time we've taught him to be enjoyable (he's tau of course).

That's what the formation is for, actually. The Helbrute can be pretty killy if it reaches melee, and in the warpack he gets a 4++. Leave it alone and it'll reach melee and wreak shit. Kill it and suddenly my Maulerfiends have rage. Focus on them, and the neglected Berzerker horde, Juggerlord and Prince will wipe you clean off the board.

Best thing is that you don't need to keep the Warpsmith around and he can give them infinite Daemonforges while forming part of the 15-man Talisman squad.

In a game of 1000 points or greater you basically have to be running at least one flyrant to even have a credible chance of winning. He essentially threw the game when he made his list.

I remember you, you're that guy that sperged out whenever the thought of any form of shooting in a Khornate warband was brought up and went to Carnac tier levels of butthurt when someone showed multiple canon uses of stuff like heavy bolters, aren't you?

Besides, it used to be that Sorcery and Psykers were very much different, with Khorne being fine with Psykers because it was their own power they were born with, and smiting Sorcerers because it wasn't their own power as they drew it from the warp using arcane knowledge.

Still making shit up I see. Yes, you can shoot with Khorne, but it is massively preferable to crush your foes in glorious melee combat, where skill actually matters.

>Besides, it used to be that Sorcery and Psykers were very much different, with Khorne being fine with Psykers because it was their own power they were born with, and smiting Sorcerers because it wasn't their own power as they drew it from the warp using arcane knowledge
Still making shit up I see. You actually got it backwards, Sorcery was fine as long as it was limited to summoning Daemons and other non-combat shit. Psykers are, were, and will always be hated which is why they were hunted down to the last in the World Eaters legion and why Khorne has so much anti-psyker gear.

Funny that you post Lheor when he along with Telemachon were said to not be hardcore enough for their legions and seeking something more than just devotion to the Gods. He left the legion and then got killed like the weakling he was. Go play Aeldari or something.

Which, considering Tau weaponry is designed to kill the opponent from the other side of the bloody table, seems really silly to me. Tau are "that fucking camper" of 40k, so other players griping about your army is pretty much part of what it means to be a Tau player.

The sorcery part is false, as it was Sorcery which Khorne hated most. Sorcery was never fine as it was power that did not belong to you, and so was cowardly to use. Even in ye old days it was combat and blood that summoned Bloodletters and other Daemons of Khorne, as it is in the KdK codex like they should be. Ranged combat is fine with Khorne, for he quite literally cares no how you kill, so long as it isn't with Sorcery. Bullets, blades, trickery that allows you to kill someone, anything that can be done by yourself is accepted.

You are right! Though I think it'd be frown upon in Daemon society for a Bloodletter to avoid open engagement just to backstab you later like a coward. That's just my speculation, though.

>The Sorcery part is from when Sorcery and Psykers were different things, now the authors pretty much do the opposite, which I hate.
They still kinda are, at least in the books (in Betrayer you see Lorgar fus-ro-dah'ing people using words of power like in fucking skyrim). Though if it were up to me I would up the anti-psyker themes to eleven. I like the idea of rendering witches powerless before I hack them to pieces.

Not really, Bloodletters are fully willing to engage in trickery if it means backstabbing a fool, they just aren't fond of the ways other Daemons do it, such as a Daemonette or Horror seducing someone with what they lust for/with promises of knowledge or secrets. They merely wish to do it as fast as possible and shanking a fool.

Lorgar is actually a natural psyker, and not a Sorcerer. He was of the most powerful in the Imperium, but refused to use it and as such had little control over it, which in 30k is represented by him harnessing on a 5+ rather than a 4+. Lorgar Transcended, when he became blessed by Chaos and became fully willing to use his power can choose what spells he uses, and harnesses on a 3+.

It's a nice bonus, though I think the Sentinels of Terra alternate one where they get twin-linked within half-range is better overall. It does make Heavy Bolters a much more palatable option though.

I'm not too big on Fists myself, though they are quite nice if you want something solid and well-rounded, but still have some options for specialization.

They also won't torture you, rape your mind or infect you with shit like the others would. Maybe by backstabbing they meant attacking you after you run out of offerings (which happens everywhere on the fluff) than literally stabbing you in the back like a coward (which contradicts the warrior tendencies they tend to display).

>Lorgar is actually a natural psyker, and not a Sorcerer
Again, the example from Betrayer I gave you was making a point about the difference between psychic powers and sorcery. The latter relies more on forbidden lore and words of power that 'break' reality just by being spoken. Not saying Lorgar wasn't psychic (all primarchs were to varying degrees).

Well if people still field infantry where you play, most definately. Four Str 6 small blasts with barrage fired by a BS 5 dude hurt basically anything through the amount of hits and wounds it can generate.

"My Lord, I bring news."
Typhus Marburg paused in his study of the situation map of the dreary little planet his forces were engaged in ravaging. "Yes?"
"Lord. Starships have appeared in the outer system and are on course for a landing. They have been identified as elements of the Flesh Tearers."
"Yeah? Tell them to sod off and find their own world. Tell 'em we got here first."
"Sire, you misunderstand. They are here to defend this world!"

First off, you can't have the same Artefact more than once, so there is no way that all your sorcerers are allowed to have Seer's Bane.

Terminator armour doesn't add a whole lot for sorcerers, it's better to just give them Aura of dank glory and hide them in units.

Hellfyre missile rack can't be fired in addition to the combi-bolter, and has the same range as well. It does have Str 8 but not the volume of fire, nor the AP to do anything meaningfull against vehicles. The Soulreaper cannon is better.

And give the aspiring sorcerer a meltabomb.

this is one of the most absurd ideas I've ever heard on ALL of 4chan, and I've been here since '07 (inb4 newfag!)...

The thought that they would squat one of the most popular factions whose models compose 15% of all their entire model line is ridiculous.

People are getting antsy with the destruction of Cadia and the sidelining of IG characters and armies in the rest of the Gathering Storm books.

Rumours of Armaggeddon and Catachan being destroyed didn't help nor the fact that Mordia was apparently swallowed up by the Eye of Terror.

See librarian comment here. If I did the math correctly (since you can always have primaris of prescience I will assume it manifests, if it doesn't I might not shoot).

Chance of "Gets hot!" = 2/6
Chance of "Gets hot!" on reroll = 2/6 * 2/6
Chance of a wound on above = 2/6 * 2/6 * 2/6

Means I will only have a 3.7% chance of taking a wound from gets hot

Someone check my math

Why not make the second CAD a Battle Congregation? Also, make sure you have 1 flamer at the very least in each of your kataphron, momento mortispex for your dominus because it's the best wargear you have access to and a conversion field on your dominus.

>Rumours of Armaggeddon and Catachan being destroyed
And those rumours in turned sparked rumors that the Orks were gonna get squatted, cause if there's a big fight happening on Armageddon nowadays, Ghazghkull's gonna want in.

And if the battle involves Yarrick then Ghazghkull will definitely make an appearance, Octarius War and the Tyranid's Shadow in the Warp power be damned! Which means if Armageddon goes the way of Cadia, then chances are Ghazghkull would be zogged as well (and let's face it: Thraka's pretty much the only memorable Ork special character with an actual model these days.)

So yeah, everyone from the IG players to da Ork boyz are a tad worried about GS at the moment. The only faction not anywhere near the GS chopping block right now seems to be the Tau, since they haven't really shown up in the books (not yet anyway).

Considering you can just use black primer and then paint the skin green for your boyz (along with red for the eyes, gunmetal equivalent for the dakka, and brown/bone colors for the teeth) for a quick paintjob, you're not in that deep a hole when it comes to not painting your models.

Got vehicles? Find some red primer and spray away! After all, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for Orks to paint their tires red!
>>
>>52797965
Its literally so easy a retard can do it.

Step one: undercoat with a brown.
Step two: use 2 coats of hairspray, let dry before appying other.
step three: undercoat with the color you want. In that example, yellow.
Step four: under hot water the hairspray comes off. So take a bad toothbrush, hot water, and scrub off the yellow paint. Now you have realistic random rust marks. And it takes about 2 minutes a model.

They've said it'll be this year IIRC so you may as well just wait a few months. Either it'll have a solid release day by then or there will be enough rumors to give you an idea of when it will come out.

For now you can buy a couple of models or something to practice painting.
>>
>>52798615
It's never been really elaborated on. The warp is supposedly quite infinite, though beyond the edges of the galaxy there aren't really any beings to influence the warp, so there would be a large calm in the warp between galaxies.

Questionable whether or not the Chaos gods can reach across these, but either they can, and there isn't much going on there, leaving more of their focus here, or they can't, and other galaxies may have their own sets of Chaos gods that are also in their own little puddles.

I think the former fits into place better. Explains why Divination magic and all of Tzeentch's plans weren't suddenly thrown off forever by the Tyranids arriving. The gods can reach across the entire universe, or at least a large portion of it, but this might just be the only place with anything really going on. Or maybe the other galaxies have already drawn to a close, whether by Tyranids, Warp storm, or some race managing to bolster themselves against Chaos properly.

Nah, I already know some of the things I want, just not all of it. Like, I want a Company Master and Assault Squad for melee, but I don't know what else I want. If I go CAD, then maybe swap out the Company Master for a Chaplain or a Librarian, and give the Company Master Termi armor and and Storm Shield and put him with some Deathwing Knights for that sweet base to base T5.

The Chaos Daemon Codex says that the Chaos Gods hear and draw power from the thoughts and emotion of all sentient life in the universe. Nurgle is responsible for every plague that swept the universe.

Also when Ulthwe debated leaving the galaxy and going to a new galaxy, the response was that Chaos would either simply follow them there or just be already there waiting for them. There is no escape from from Chaos. It's omnipresent and eternal. It knows no limit.

>>
>>52798839
No?
I really don't get why people post lists so often here. Unless they're new and something is critically wrong, 90 percent of them are going to be panned. There is no set formula to making a list. There are very few rights and wrongs. Unless you're playing in a super strict tournament that will require 100 percent optimized choices, 90 percent of the lists here are going to be "fine". There is no single meta. There is no single strategy or way of doing things. There is only war. How you wage that war is up to you. If know how to make detachments, have played the game, and know what's legal and what's not in your army, you're probably fine, unless you're new to the force. Even then, an experienced player should know the ins and outs of cost/return on points and the worth of certain stacks. Do YOU want a chaplain? How much is he worth? What benefits would you gain from a Death Company Chaplain? Figure it out.
I'm not trying to sound like an ass but good god there is only so much critique you can give a list in a game of 40k, and MOST of it is subjective and pointless to ask unless you just want to have a nice conversation. It feels like so many people post lists feeling panicked and worried that they did something wrong in their list that they can't see and only the wise sages of /40kg/ can help, but that's very rarely the case.

I had a Tau fag rage at me one day cause I refused to play him. I just very calmly explained I have no fun playing against Tau because every game I have ever played against them has meant me long slogging through the battlefield just to reach their side while being shot at.

Apparently I was being selfish because there was no one else to play against currently cause everyone else was paired up. I then told him I would have more fun not playing at all than I would playing against Tau. I then was told I should just look at his list first, so I did.

Knights are good. You should take them over shoot terminators. However if you want to keep the shoot terminators replace a bike squad with black knights instead.
Also, three other things. Generally, when it comes to terminators you generally want to specialize into EITHER shooting or smashing. If you're going melee termies, thunder hammers and storm shields will probably be more effective than claws.
Plasma cannons are generally not worth the points.
Finally, drop the power weapon in favor of a special weapon on the TAC squad.

No, drop down his power weapon for a chainsword and give someone else a special weapon, IE a melta, plasma, flamer, gravgun. Also, generally there's no reason to use a Lance weapon outside of an assault squad. This is especially so with DA who are very ranged oriented when it comes to their regular marine squads. You don't want to waste points on close combat weapons as much with them.

Fact of the matter is the Tau just have so many good units, are undercosted, and very easy to use. Eldar may be op but they require more strategy on average than Tau. It's so easy to make a gunline and win through withering firepower with Tau, and their codex options encourage it.

There are armies where the Special Characters are worse than a generic.

>Fact of the matter is the Tau just have so many good units

True

>are undercosted

The Riptide is. Aside from that, they're efficiently costed, but not really under. I can understand the confusion though, since many armies in the game suffer from overcosted stuff.

>very easy to use

Depends a lot on the list.

Don't get me wrong, Tau are a top-tier army, but that's because the units in their army can actually do their jobs efficiently and support eachother with special rules. Riptides are a big crutch on top of this, which is why Tau can stomp a more casual list, especially when both players are new and don't understand positioning or how much terrain they need.

Pick off the Markerlights though? You're left with a Space marine gunline with worse armor, worse BS, and terrible melee.
>>
>>52799571
>Oh shit, he doesn't own a Riptide!
>Better bait even harder!
>>
>>52799635
Under/over costed is relative. More efficient than average by a significant amount is undercosted.
>>
>>52799635
Crises suits are pretty undercosted too, and actually pretty efficient in melee too.
>>
>>52799505
Same here.

>FIRE AND FLAME, WE ARE ONE
>>
>>52799648
They're more efficient than average because on average, a lot of units and models pay points for things they don't end up using.

I mean, imagine how much cheaper Devastator marines could be if they didn't have high Initiative, Weapon Skill, and come with pistols and grenades

>>52799650
Crisis suits could stand to gain a few points, but they're only efficient for their cost in melee if you don't give them any upgrades. Once you start loading them down with guns you get something that costs as much as a Terminator or more.

They're good, but I wouldn't really point to them as a big culprit unless people spam them as troops.
>>
Out of interest, anyone taken a 30k Primarch in a 40k game?

I feel like getting Angron into melee with the Tau would be a great laugh.
>>
>>52799668
>They're more efficient than average because on average, a lot of units and models pay points for things they don't end up using.
There being a reason why they're undercosted doesn't make them not undercosted.
>>
>>52799677
That's not what undercosted means. That's like saying Sisters of Battle are undercosted compared to marines, since they have BS 4, power armor, and bolters but are cheaper, when in reality they're cheaper because they lack those other options and benefits marines have.
>>
WAAC means win at all costs

>>
>>52799705
>>52799705
I didn't explain myself well. If the fact that Tau don't pay extra for useless "advantages" makes them better for their point value than most units by a significant margin they are undercosted.

Of course if the cost difference is because of actual effectiveness differences, and in proportion to those differences it is balanced.
>>
>>52799631
>and I think the only other named characters are squad upgrades that can't be LoWs?

Nah, they're HQ choices except Snikrot. You could take Mad Doc Grotsnik, Zagstrukk or Kaptain Badrukk. Of course, these options are all blindingly terrible.

Oh actually you could take Grukk from Sanctus Reach. He's just about the best option, even though he too is dreadful because he's a Warboss without a Bike or Mega-armour.
>>
>>52799883
Zhadsnark if IA8 is allowed? Best ork IC going and featured in the one tournament win orks had last year.
>>
>>52799840
>>52799813
It makes them good at what they do, and worse at some of the other things those other units do. The fact that other units are more wasteful doesn't make another unit undercosted.

If meltabombs and powerswords were suddenly a mandatory upgrade on Salamanders Sergeants, that wouldn't suddenly make every other tactical squad with a different set of chapter tactics undercosted by comparison. They'd simply be more efficient, because the player wouldn't be spending 20 extra points on something they wouldn't likely end up using.

Those units that have all these tiny extra upgrades that they don't really use and are being charged out the ass for? Maybe those should become optional, or the unit should pay less for them if they're that overcosted.

The strength of Crisis suits lies in the fact that the Tau player gets to choose exactly how he wants to kit them out and how much he wants to invest in a squad. Other armies don't get that luxury sometimes, like having to take a sergeant that can't take the same options as the rest of the unit. Really though, that's just a reason for more armies to have a greater degree of customization.

Having more options is hard to pin a point cost on, aside from the price of the options themselves.
>>
>>52799906

Oh for sure if we're including IA8.
>>
>>52799840
Try playing against the Tau as Dark Eldar. It's a hard army to play already, but it's fucking impossible to win when all their weapons have access to Ignores Cover, their basic weapon damages your transports on a 5+ and their basic Troop choice costs roughly the same as yours.
>>
>>52799932
As a Tau player who's brother is a DE player, I agree it is pretty unfortunate. But some times in games natural counters happen, it's not really an indicator that either army has to be "fixed"
>>

>>
>>52799948

>>
>>52799932
>>52799948
>it's not really an indicator that either army has to be "fixed"

As another Tau player, that's a load of shit. Dark Eldar totally need to be fixed. They lost so much of their stuff and had their army shifted over to being totally reliant on cover with nothing to show for it.

They lost the ability to get Invuln saves on their transports, as well as the weird stuff they had where they simply reduced the range of weapons that people tried to target them with so that they could creep up really close without getting shot.

Dark Eldar would have a much easier time against Tau if they had some of those alternatives. Some of that range-reduction back and they could just dance outside of range instead of getting blasted to hell.
>>
>>52799981
>A tailored DE list could probably beat the average Tau army anyway

That's retarded though, two 'average" armies should be roughly equal. Sure you're always going to have one army that might somewhat counter another but you should never be forced to tailor a list just to deal with an army someone put half an effort into building.

How many d-missiles a turn do you really need in a 500 point game
>>

enough to actually hit.

>hits half the time
>fires twice a turn

You still have a 25% chance of missing.

Honestly the ork battle wagon kit is really great
>>
>>52800777
I'm gonna paint my orks as Death Skulls, so I wanna loot my everything.
And I don't want my Wagon to look like a souped-up truck. I like all the extra bits in it but not the whole front cab.
>>
>>52800787
as a pround own of a deff skulls wagon, i ca say, it really looks nothing like a trukk in reality. it looks more like a land train
but if you really dont like it, then what do you want do your wagon to look like (bulky, sleek?)? what races are your other looted tanks?

I might buy the battlewagon kit, depends on what I'll find at the store when I go there. I haven't got an ork army yet, but I'm looking to start.
My main opponents will be Chaos Space Marines and Space Wolves or other orks.

>flash gitz
plz no, save yourself, use burnas instead, or mek gun,, mek guns are my bread and butter.
also, for gods sake man, drop something, and get your boss at least 'eavy armour, if not mega armour: S&P is a small price to pay fr your boss not dieing instantly
>>
>>52800859
I was kinda working around what I saw a local store having in stock. I'm hoping to buy the bulk of my army during a road trip in a week or so and the store doesn't seem to have any Mega Armour Nobz in store unfortunately. Not that they're likely to even have 2 or 3 boxes of Lootas and Burnas.
>>
>>52800886
Why dont you use one of the many online retailers? they are both cheaper and they deliver. I am a britbong, so i know a bunch of english sites if that helps
>>
>>52800894
I don't wanna wait a week for the packet to arrive. Plus I'm doing the trip anyway so might as well see what they have.
>>
>>52800908
Check if your local store gives 20% off of orders, it's decently common. Sure you've gotta wait but it adds up after enough purchases.
>>
>>52800938
I get some bits off here and there, but no flat percentage from my local store. I'll probably order more specific stuff once I upgrade to 1000 points
Also snazzguns look pretty good to me, statwise.

Hey GGA, today I bought 2 Command Squad boxes, 2 Guardsman boxes and 1 Leman Russ Demolisher. Can't wait!

I took a group photo of what I have so far. Onwards, men of the Emperor!

Cheers.

>buy codex, excited to start digging into it
>found out units are missing
>friend who introduced me says I brought the old one
>have to go change it and have just found out after summer there would be a new one coming

I should have just brought the cool minis
>>
Lads, I've been challenged to bring a game of 40k to a metal festival.

Now this would seem like lunacy, but I have an idea.

The plan is to buy some Epic minis, mount them on 8mm magnets, and make a 1x1 table out of a piece of metal. Play the game as regular 40k but divide all measurements by 4.
I'll make some teeny tiny blast templates too.

Any problems I should expect to run into?
>>
>>52801073
What army? I don't think there are any upcoming codices unless you're referencing 8th ed rumors.

>>52801099
Every army definitely is going to need a new codex if they're gonna introduce movement values.
>>
>>52801044
Guardsmen kit of 10 models, cost more than a kit of 20 back in the day.

I'm using buying power per hours, I could work for 6 hours and buy a box of 20 models, now I work for 8 and I can only buy a box of 10.
>>
>>52801160
They're not having a new codex until 8th ed and we don't even know when that's dropping.

>>52801179
Call me when they actually do, ie. when 8th ed comes out.

CAD is Word Bearers so can get more use out of malefic rolls when needed without losing the potential to roll on Biomancy if it's more appropriate.

Death Guard Formation because I have 7k of Nurgle CSM that I can't think of a more effective way to use them.

The list decent? I come up against Eldar, SM and Daemons mostly.

Tau - 1850pts - CAD-RSC-HC.jpg

r8, h8 and ber8

This is for our semi-competitive group. I'm likely to face Eldar, MC-spam Tau, Crons, Guard, Nids, CSM, all flavors of SM, and AdMech.

Idea was to build a fairly powerful list that doesn't make you want to tear your hair out. I played something similar against my mate's Dark Eldar and got fucking tabled. That time I only had a CAD though, this time I'm bringing the Hunter Contingent and double the markerlights.

just a thing on the Deathwing squads,
Decide what you want to do with them, just because you can mix and match doesn't mean it's a great idea, generally you're best off giving the Sarge TH/SS, picking your heavy weapon and then equipping the rest for either for CC or shooting but not both.
Opinions on the Narthecium vary, I'm not keen because it never seems to worth losing the power weapon, if you could have it on top of your normal gear I'd take it but you can't sadly
Pic attached how I'd organise your DW
>>
Just clearing something up, Necron Gauss weapons autowound on a 6 to wound, Invuln saves can't be taken against those can they?
>>
>>52801158
I'm not GGA, I was just saying g'day.

I have brown guard, so I guess I'm BGA?

>>52801198
Six hours for one box? What do you do mate?
>>
>>52801523
gauss means you wound/pen on a 6 even if the toughness/armorvalue would normally be too high to wound/pen at all

units wounded still get to save as per usual

++denial is super-rare
