How do you make a character without planning your entire build ahead of time? It's like I start every campaign with my character already finished and all I have left to do is actually level it up.

Usually when I play games like this I like to start with a blank slate character and let the story determine where I go as far as personality, class, playstyle, etc.

With Pathfinder I'm always afraid to do that. First because I never know what class/race/build to start with as my blank slate, and second because I'm worried that I'll be wasting all of my early feats and skills on things that won't ultimately be of any use to me.

What kind of question is this? Of course they can, you run into married couples all the time.

They can remain bachelorettes (the rulers are exclusively female) and nobody will bat an eye. Why? Because the choice of the next ruler isn't done by the queen, it's done by Baba Yaga. She shows up and gives the crown to a Jadwiga she likes the most (Jadwiga is the "native" ethnic group of Irrisen, it's effectively Ulfen stock enhanced by Baba Yaga's own blood.)

Something where a hero/group of heroes and a villain all get dumped into a new land. Villain embeds himself into/takes over an existing faction to take down the heroes, who might do likewise.

Oh come now, that season finale was legitimately one of the best two-parters we've had in the show, the character dynamics combined with the main villain saying "screw your friendship" at the end was byootiful.

Unfortunately I have yet to play a shapeshifter, and likely won't for a very long time given how a friend of mine has been scarred for life in our session due to Changelings infesting our space ship and imitating everyone in the crew except them.

Ah, if it was something as integral as the voices I imagine that would wear you down after a while, my condolences I suppose. Perhaps try watching without headphones on and lowered volume? I find that high pitched voices and sounds are far less grating coming out of a speaker that's not on blast than when they're being channeled directly into my ear holes. If not then just look up Corridor of Cupcakes on Youtube and maybe that will help ease your mind.

I doubt it, both in and out of character he's always been a jumpy bastard, not helped by the fact that when we first met it was through a group that was run by a GM who liked to mess with our heads and dick around with our expectations, and not always in a good way. As an example a PC was trapped in an Ink Ooze and our big stronk guy was trying to free them by pulling on the one limb not sucked inside. GM told them to make a Str check to free them, rolled a Nat 20, GM said that the fighter ripped off the limb.

The problem with trapfinding is that traps are hard to design without railroading or being just needlessly cruel. It often seems more rewarding to just put a monster down where you could put a trap.

You can either make a trap easy enough that the PCs can get by it, or hard enough that the PCs will get screwed by it, and either way they're probably going to find a method of bypassing it entirely without having to deal with a trapped area.

So...really, unless you're running an AP or a published module, or you're some kind of trap-design genius, why bother?

So I think me and a friend of mine can't figure out how a combination of spontaneous casting, metamagic feats, and creating scrolls works. So I'm playing a Mindblade Magus and am considering taking up the Spell Scar arcana. However, since a Mindblade is a psychic caster, and thus casts spells spontaneously, if I wanted to tattoo a spell on me(which uses the rules for making a scroll), could I apply a metamagic feat to the spell as I'm making it and use the tattoo as the metamagiced spell? For example, at level 6, could I tattoo an Intensified Shocking Grasp, and when cast, cast it as a standard action, or will it still be a full round action to cast it?

That first floor is really rough if you're a party without darkvision, or have a slow move speed. I've done that first level twice (With different groups), the first time I was a halfling and it sucked, we ended up having to retreat. The second time I was an Elf Wizard, with the darkvision racial trait and dancing lights, that made things a bunch easier.

Had a pretty fun time playing that, but we only made it up to floor 6 before my group fell apart.

From what we've seen during the playtests, they actually are. Your drone buddy is powerful, but you have to sacrifice actions to have it do anything other than move - you get a standard and a move and the drone only gets a move, or you get a move and the drone gets a standard and move.

you'll also be able to buy upgrades for it.

I could use some suggestions, /pfg/. How do I make a great wyrm more than just a big pile of stats? And pretty weak ones for the CR, at that. I mean, DR 20/magic? For a CR 19 monster? Are you shitting me? Is there any good reason to not at least make that DR 20/-?

As far as making the wyrm more interesting or helping it in a fight versus a competent party, I was considering a custom template, but wasn't sure what all to include for a 'big bad' or 'legendary' creature. It might just need to be one or two extra things. Hell, I was considering just stealing 5e's legendary resistances and lair actions.

What about you /pfg/? How do you turn a 'just a monster' into the BBEG? How do you keep them from getting screwed by action economy, save or suck cheese and numerous minions aside?

What the fuck kind of tone are they trying to go for with this setting? They describe it like a Space Opera but the ships look like Corporate-Punk and the characters look gritty and overdesigned. It's a mess.

It is a shift away from it, you dumbass. The core classes can only go up to level 6 spells, like a bard. only two classes out of the core seven can do any casting at all. Technology can (and is intended to) outright replace most of the need for magic items.
