If you really want to get back into the game, I'd suggest picking up a free PDF of the current rules at http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/rulebook/EN_SDSE_Rulebook.pdf , taking a look through it all, and deciding for yourself whether this interests you.

If you want to get back into YGO, scrounge up $20, buy Legacy of the Duelist. If you want, buy some of the DLC. That game will save you endless amounts of cash if you want to get back into the game casually. And if you don't like the way things are now, well, you're only out 20 bucks.
Play Duel Links, it will scratch the nostalgia itch pretty well.
Important question: do you have some chill IRL friends that used to play yugioh? If yes, get them to join in with you. Go check out some underused archetypes and just have fun. The competitive scene is beyond toxic and filled with thieving autistic neckbeards.
tl;dr find some weird cards, make decks based off them, and play as if you're a shitty side character in the show

Pretty much this, I'd especially recommend going to the Duel Network general on >>>/vg/ or checking out the YGO Reddit page for interesting combos and strategies.

My hair isn't ridiculous enough for that
