I have to create yellow-throated marten beastfolks and I need your help to make them interesting.
The majority of their art, nuances of communication and the details of their cultures are scent-based.

Make her.

Good. Scent is important but they have verbal pack communication already

They are stronger and much more vicious compared to mongoose

Mongooses are cuter through.

Do you know anything about mustelids?
>>52756080
They look like mongooses?
>>52756093
They look rather similar by common eye.
Come on /tg. They are literally tree wolverines. I have a problem making them bloodthirsty but not edgy...

So don't make them edgy, just make them spiteful. make them cheery, up until someone wrongs them. Then it's fucking ON.

Since this species isn't very social except during mating season, so I think their beastfolk equivalent would also lack large civilizations of their own.
I could see them as a race of monster-hunters who wear coats made of the most dangerous creatures they've killed.
Most would be loners who live in hidden treehouses but those that have been able to hunt powerful creatures attract a following of sorts of those who wish to be able to bag the big monsters themselves.
They care little about "alignment" and will kill anything that can be skinned, even intelligent beings who have proved their worth.
Marten villages would mostly consist of industries revolving around hunting, including stuffing and mounting trophies, tanning leather and trading charms to aid in the hunt.
I would suggest that it is extremely difficult/impossible to just kill another Martenfolk and steal their trophy-coat. Since their mustelids, each individual has their own scent, they could not just steal a coat without fucking up their own smell.
Others would be able to immediately tell it was stolen by the smell alone, so dead Martens are often buried in their prized clothes since their stink won't ever come out.
