Describe your character without mentioning:
>Their race/species
>Their profession/skillset
>Their gear/appesarance

If you can't get a good couple sentences describing them, chances are they're boring as shit.

Go.

The outcast of his family who seeing no other option took to adventuring to gain so much fame that they would finally accept him

Theyre a typically kind hearted person that heavily believes in redemption/second chances. They also feel extremely awkward socializing with non-humans, two parts because they grew up engaging in very little casual conversation and one part because their homeland is heavily human dominated

The characters race and appearance are also very important

They're an utter self-insert mary-sue on every conceivable level. They start at the bottom with such an improbably min-maxed build they shouldn't have survived birth, and end up at the top of every field, overcoming anything in their way through nothing more than a series of utterly contrived circumstances. There's no conceivable threat short of the setting's own sacred cows that could possibly stand in their way, and it's entirely likely that they will end up in their harem anyhow. Their personal outlooks match their player's identically, whose alignment could best be summed up as "c̶h̶a̶o̶t̶i̶c̶ s̶t̶u̶p̶i̶d̶ c̶h̶a̶o̶t̶i̶c̶ n̶e̶u̶t̶r̶a̶l̶ plot convenient".

By your definition, this is an interesting character.

Nah, OP's test is negative. If you can't pass the test, your character is (most likely) shit.
If you pass it, your character may still be shit.
>>
>>52749464
She's lost her home and much of her family, so she treasures her fiance and elder brother as her anchors to her heritage and her strength to fight.
Despite her loses, she craves the big, boisterous, homely feel of her youth, and so takes her fellows into her heart as her younger siblings, to be trusted and stewarded over as only a good big sister can.
Her small love of unnatural worldly effects manifests in a scarcely controlled phobia that at times overwhelms her, throwing rational thought to the wind in lieu of a primal fight or fight more response, and her shame over her lack of spirit keeps her from confronting her issues directly, turning into a self perpetuating cycle.
>>
>>52749741
Typical dwarf:
>He's an angry alcoholic who got into adventuring out of a mix of greed and the understanding that important things needed doing and nobody but him was qualified to do them. Superficially, he's a casual racist who waxes obsessive about the positive qualities of his own people while dismissing the accomplishments of others. In practice, he really can't stand his people either. Despite this, he genuinely values the team he works with, because they ensure his continued access to gold and alcohol.
>>
He had a deep interest in learning about and seeing the natural world. He's largely practical, tries to make it his watch word, but he prefers not to wear shoes. Because of his upbringing, he ends up being the both the party doctor(which has worked out great for dealing with locals) and has played coroner a time or too. He also has an interest in seeing justice be carried out.

It's my first character, how's it seem thus far?
>>
>>52749864
This does sound like a fun character to play with a small twist: they're not a dwarf. Or male.
>>
>>52749464
A dispossessed nobleman after his homeland went through a quasi-French Revolutionish thing. (Complicated by this world having multiple races and a strong racial underclass component). Long term goals are to crush the revolutionary state and reclaim his ancestral lands, and adventures to raise the sorts of capital, both material and social, to get that sort of expedition together. Is fundamentally 'good' in the sense that he is selfless and wants people to do well, but ascribes to a hard group morality mentality; he sees nothing wrong, for instance, with hanging the brother of a murderer if you can't catch the murderer himself.
>>
>>52749464
A man who seeks only to win back the soul of his daughter that he once bartered away, and return to a quiet lifestyle if his life isn't forfeit in this quest. He frequently writes, both drafts of letters to his daughter, of prayers, last messages in case he dies, and notes on intriguing encounters.. The party member most likely to turn a camp into a miniature living room with tea on and a book.
>>
I was betrayed by my old mentor and made to think my friends were sacrificed to a false god. I have left my childhood home to make myself stronger, strong enough to return home and liberate my people. Every challenge I face head on cause I know that fightong stronger opponents will also make me stronger. Although most of my life was spent in seclusion Im finding my place with my new friends who I adventure the world with. Maybe it is my friends that will make me strong enough to kill a god?
>>
>>52749464
Fun loving guy who tries to keep everyone calm and "taking it easy", but who can get pretty serious in the right circumstances, such as when people he cherishes are in danger.
He's also really appreciates the female form, which is to say he is a lecher.
>>
>>52749464
A man who ran away from home at a young age with a person who he would grow to consider his adoptive father. While the skills and customs of his homeland are buried deep inside him, the new home he found is what he mentions when people as where he came from.

After many years living with his new family, a man he considered a brother murdered his adoptive father in a play for power and betrayed the PC, leaving him marooned on an island in the middle of the Sea of Fallen Starts.

Barely surviving long enough to be rescued, he spent years running away from his problem instead of seeking out his father's killer, eventually turning to drink to mask his pain over his cowardice. He puts on a veil of levity and boisterousness to conceal his solemn sadness.

Through his tribulation, though, he has made himself determined not to make the same mistake again. He keeps people at arms length, but to those who show him kindness he shows a fierce and unwavering loyalty.
>>
>>52749707
If Saitama was a Mary Sue he'd also be smart, wise, and likeable. And everyone would love him. He'd be king of the world and champion of the people (like Superman)

Saitama is supposed to be overpowered, it's funny, and it's cool as fuck. Which fits well since it's a parody.
>>
>>52749464
>>52750668
If it's background you're after:
He's stuck in a place he'd rather not be, but he's making the best out of it with his new friends. Or rather, trying to.

>>52749464
Raised and brainwashed by a monastic order, she eventually escaped, and managed to get knocked up somewhere out in the world.
They recaptured her, and attempted to wipe her memories by torture and magic.
Now she carries out their dark biddings, driven by powerful hypnotic suggestion, and with only the tenderest hold on any sort of identity or sense of self.
But still, sometimes, she gets the feeling that something cries out for her, from afar.
Cries out for its... mother?

Then he's shit. It's very simple
>>
>>52749464
>not recognizing that all of these things can have bearing on a character's nature and portrayal when actually used in a game.

That's like saying Roland being black and not having a gun doesn't matter to the events that shape the Dark Tower series, when in both cases they are critical components to the very characterization of the figure of the Last Gunslinger and how he interacts with other people in his adventuring party.

In other words, OP is not only full of shit, but ignorant.

>No people in real life or interesting characters in fiction are affected by their race or appearance in any way
>>
>>52749464
Abandoned as an infant due to race, she was found by a priest of a loving and accepting god, and taken to the temple in which he lives and worships with his fellow worshipers. They raise the child for years, teaching her their ways and basically ignoring her race. She ends up not even knowing the term for what she is, but she doesn't care due to their kindness and teachings. She's never left the immediate outskirts of the temple, so she hasn't seen "real life", basically ever. Around the age of 24, while out a bit further than usual, trying to learn of the surrounding plant and animal life, she steps on a loose mound of soil, and it collapses beneath her. After tumbling down, she's in a cavern covered in odd symbols, and all around her she hears whispers. On an altar ahead, there is a small statue of a horrifying looking creature which turns out to be Azathoth. A strange force compels her to grab it, and when she does, Nyarlathotep appears to her and forces a contract upon her, giving her amazing powers while also shattering her entire world. He guides her back to the surface, and upon reaching her home, the temple, she finds it in ruins, with incomprehensible beasts still killing and maiming survivors; her entire family is dead, and her home is destroyed. She would've gone insane without Nyarlathotep's powers. She ends up a nihilistic and depressed wanderer, and one of Nyarlathotep's "thralls", working unknowingly to bring Azathoth to this plane of existence. Of course, this won't be happening any time soon, so there isn't much being done for Nyarlathotep. She's more just a wanderer, working for whoever Nyarlathotep sends her to, which just so happens to be the party she just recently joined. Part of her is trying to find a way to break the pact, while another part is really enjoying her recently acquired powers.

Tiefling GOOlock?
>>
>>52750796
I should also note that the encounter with Nyarlathotep drove her into the depths of madness, and she's barely clinging on to her sanity. Nyarlathotep is somewhat protecting her sanity, as she can't do what he wants if she isn't able to function. Before the end of the campaign, she'll most likely be completely insane unless she dies before the end.
>>
>>52750818
Yep. The most generic of class and race pairing, but it allowed me to make a more interesting set up for her background at least.
>>
>salty fuckers
The point isn't "your race/profession/gear/looks shouldn't matter". Those can all be key elements of who your character is.

The point is they shouldn't be the only things. Your personality, world view and demeanor are all big parts of who a person is, and most people who aren't either completely unrealistic have enough complexity that you ought to be able to bang out a paragraph describing that without issue.
>>
>>52749464
Born the son of an ambassador he spent a lot of his youth in the nearby kingdom of Ethos where he fell in love with the ideals of the Ethonian templar. Seeking to bring this back to his homeland and found his own order of Prussian knights the youth began to study and learn from them as much as he could.

Now as an adult he must choose between the order of Winrose, and the uncertainty of personal freedom.

Han Solo had personality traits beyond "I like to smuggle stuff" tho.

A man with no love for the Empire, but also no particular desire to fight the Empire, at least one that he himself is aware of He makes his way in the galaxy with a reckless initiative, always trying to shoot or run first where trouble is spotted. Deep inside his calloused outlook, lies a heart of gold, and one that will always do the right thing in the end.
>>
>>52749464
My character struggles with being on the side of the law versus purging evil with sword. This is being fueled even more by being falsely accused of being a criminal himself and the nature of his race pushing from inside to show who/what he truly is.

half orc barbarian who was a guard until being accused of setting half a village on fire, background story ended where he was fired as a guard with half the population wanting to lynch him. He's pretty much like an action movie "trigger happy cop on the loose". In game terms his unruly way of lawbringing pushed him over the edge from lawful to neutral/chaotic good right before the RP started (because barbs can't be lawful). Over the course of the sessions he gets more and more violent/animal like.
>>
>>52750912
No, it's a good rule of thumb. If you literally can't write 2 or more sentences about your character's personality that don't explicitly mention the character's class/race/profession/powers, etc, then your character sucks.
>>
>>52751100
What does it mean for a character to suck?
>>
>>52751115
That whenever you describe your character to other people, they mentally replace whatever it is your character is doing with an image of you sucking your own dick.

My character dances around in combat, frequently moving for tactical purposes. My character is obsessed with collecting treasure not out of personal greed, but rather for someone else's benefit and favor. This obsession with hoarding money and loot has caused a falling out with a group they were part of and is now on the run from. Their actual job was mundane and boring so they hired someone to do the work while they went off adventuring.

Youngest brother of a family of individuals who all despise him for not going into the family business.

Attempting to make it based on his own passions and interests - a little native and quick to trust, definitely with an aversion to unnecessary violence.

Compassionate, kind to children and the weak, wants to be appreciated for what he contributes to the world by way of his craft. Ambitious for the world to see his genius because he truly believes in the value of his unique abilities rather than because he thinks he's superior to others.

He's a good guy. I like him.

You know those persons that seem to be one thing, to do one thing, and be content with that? Not necessarily the happiest people around, but clearly found their way? Well, her indipendent self isn't exactly what is seems to be. True, she's very good with her peculiar army career (and perhaps one the most level-headed in her group), and if anything she's pissed off with some short tem perceived failure... and true, she's pretty good with her (high) social role and her new home -which gives her a solitude that she's found necessary for herself...
... Something is off. It's not her better-than-you attitude or the somewhat off-putting moments of competitiveness and contrarianism in relation to her sweeter and almost naively passionate moments (all things she doesn't show off to just anyone, at least the second part. Even the religious aspects of these.): her deepest part is probably the self-sacrifice, and she's scared of that, perhaps.
The funniest or saddest thing is that she probably would like to do this to her family, but she can't, her role in the world must be another altogether. Maybe that's why she never really had a deep relationship, too scared of something other than obeying orders of superiors she wanted to be with?

>sounds kinda mary-sueish I guess, hope not too much. Wanted to talk about personality alone, not even hobbies or something like that. Family is a pretty big part of her life but didn't want to drone on anymore.

Guess the game, or at least the fiction genre

>tough I think the skillset thing could be left for this test to work
>>
>>52751152
Because if you understand that these things can have an influence on how someone turns out - especially in the skillset category, where social skills or lack thereof are often extremely useful to describe personality - you are obviously a minmaxer, a player of mary sues, or some other form of That Guy. Get with the program and be an ignorant piece of shit already, jeez.

>>52750839
This anon gets it. Its not that your race/profession/gear DON'T matter, obviously they do. But they are things that affect your characters personality, not things that define them.

Not all dwarves are boisterous, some are subdued, not all assassins are edge lords, some might do it for desperate income for a loved one and hate themselves for their job.

>>52751152
See the debate above, I find it helps me help players make interesting characters. I really often get a player hyped to play an 'x race y profession', rather than think of a character.

>>52751314
Of course. But this makes people realise just now boring and 2 dimensional their character is if they can't easily pass it.

Here's one of mine:

Orphan from a young age, was adopted by a scientist (cyberpunk) Quickly fascinated by technology she began study at a young age, an innocent, bright spirit of a girl. As she grew up however, her relationship soured, being groomed by her adoptive mum, she started being experimented on herself to test new anaesthetics, cybernetics etc. This deteriorated over a number of years until she ended up basically prisoner, unable to live the normal life she wanted, used as a human guinea pig. She kept sane and happy, to some extent through learning on the net, and various sciency forums.
Eventually, the straw broke the camels back and she murdered her adoptive mother with a medical scalpel she stole, and escaped, making it her mission to visit her internet buddies around the world.

1/2
>>
>>52751534

Personality wise while she's quite a bright optimistic girl on the outside, and generally is in a good mood, she's haunted by her past and still struggles with the moral implications of her old situation, when is murder justified etc. She takes great pleasure from helping others out, although a portion of it is from merely wanting to try new wacky shit on people. Quite the innovator she's often picking up weird scraps or stealing components from cars and such, she has the simplistic view of whatever she does is justified if she's helping a patient/client and this often gets her into trouble, especially when she felt out doesn't understand why people are mad at her.

Didn't need to mention White haired waif of a girl with a travelling backpack filled with cybernetics did I?

A man who fell in love and got married to someone above his station, he decided to adventure and become famous because even though his wife says she doesn't care about the snide comments to her he does. Also so he can be the hero his daughter has always seen him as.

Normally gentle and even tempered he tries to make the world a better place by finding different solutions to help as many as possible, but when the chips are down he will not lose because he has people at home waiting for him and he'll be dammed if anyone stops him from seeing them again.

>>
>>52751838
Oh right, the "too tired" excuse huh!

But seriously, I only now always really try to avoid the "orphan" schtick. Why not go with that her parents sold her off (and maybe regret it and look for her now) or that she's been kidnapped/stolen? She can even go on a quest to find her parents (maybe she doesn't even know her parents are alive), only to find out she is altered/alienated so much that her parents see her as a monster or something?

I think I've seen orphans in about 90% of all the characters on the table.

My current character writes letters to his parents who live in the fantasy equivalent of Dildo, Illinois and serve as a gentle reminder my character wants to be a good boi.

Street rat got bullied a lot by other kids because of muh albinism, but one day got saved by an older street rat when the latter found out about his heightened senses (a compensation for his weak eyesight). The older street rat was a petty thief took him under his wing (mainly as a "spotter") and introduced him to a life of thievery. In a few years, the pair gained enough skill to be recruited into a Rogue's Guild. Getting into the guild meant tasks that went beyond stealing a smuggler's wares. Older street rat felt accomplished, but albinofag felt wrong. Still, he went along; to leave the guild would be to leave the only person he'd ever had.

But everyone has their limits. When Savior failed to return from a dubious mission, albinofag called quits and ran off into the night. Or at least is trying to.
>>
>>52751534

Hmm. The alienated return might be quite good. What also could be good to be honest is I just have the woman that has her as a test doll her biological mother in the first place. Her conflict is whether she was right to murder [mother figure] or not. She still had a bit of that old devotion you can have to family members. I've seen relatives of my own put up with horrible spouses just cause they love them, going so far as to stop me calling a charity for them (despite having literally been beaten up).

She also struggles with hopelessness and motivation too. Some sort of her wants to settle down and open up shop, take the easy route, but she has the gnawing hunger of wanting to know about her internet buddies more.

Regardless, seems cool. she'd make a great leader kinds character, whatever she actually is. Sounds a lot like a character who's lost someone close to them in their past though. Certainly a character I wouldn't mind playing with.

I dunno if when you were being vague with things like 'something is off' you were doing it to maintain secretiveness or whether you don't know yourself, if you don't, might want to try and figure out what it is, you'll find her more fleshed out and easier to play that way imo.

Captain Eugene Dragunov.jpg
49KB, 463x720px
>>52749464

Eugene Dragunov:

A selfish, narcissistic, self-eggrandising gloryhound seeking to outdo his (Lawful Good) legendary father's war hero fame by scheming his way up the political-military ladder without fundamentally understanding that it wasn't his father's actions and medals and accolades that made him so beloved, but was rather his father's respectful treatment of people, heroic selflessness, and humble community-centric bravery (all concepts foreign to Eugene) that was his father's key to fame and success.

Lately I've been thinking a lot about the traditional story structure of Active Bad Guys vs Passive/Reactive Good Guys. I wanted to make a character that explored two central notions:

1) The tragic flaw of the Evil-Aligned Eugene trying so hard to get a hero's recognition, yet fundamentally 'not getting' why fame and glory and social validation came so easily to his father.

2) The (admittedly somewhat Randian) notion that in his herculean efforts to live up to and exceed his Father's name, Eugene ends up actually doing more good for his country and for the world than his father ever did. (Sort of a "The Road to Heaven was paved with selfish intentions" sort of thing).

The motivations for this character come from two sources: I've been reading about the brothers Gracci (Tiberius and Gaius) and their catastrophic efforts to outdo their father, Elder Tiberius Gracchus.

Also I'm finally getting around to watching Legend of Korra and I am so fundamentally buttfrustrated by the story's handling of the character Tarlocc. He's a greedy, scheming, power-hungry, selfish snake of a man that will do anything for power and the good guys will do anything to stop his plans, whatever they are...

...And at this point in the story (no spoilers pls, I haven't finished it) HIS PLAN IS TO STOP THE ACTUAL BAD GUY because it will increase his political clout..And the good guys are getting in his way. Wtf?!

I'd like to make a version of this character that 'works'.

I think you'd find it a rewarding experience to host your own game (possibly even including the players in your current game) that focuses more on roleplaying and character development.

I understand it would be a great deal of effort (all worthwhile things take effort) and you risk being mocked for trying something new (all brave trailblazers are mocked for trying something new, even if they don't fail).

But brave men do not let the twin threats of labor and juvenile mockery stop them from attempting what lesser men would not dream of endeavoring. I think it would be something you would enjoy greatly and your group would be glad to have an alternative to the 'crunchy' gm you currently have.

Yeah, I tought about that. But op mentioned profession/skillset, and I tried not talking about what she actually DOES in the army.
A little like telling you, I dunno, a character does something with plants. Is he a druid? A peasant?

In fact I like the leader part, 'cause she's (theoretically) destined to lead a pretty importat expedition.
And... that's not exactly what she would do; leader maybe, but dreams of more personal glory aside, her rational part wouldn't like something that adventurer-y.
Funniest thing is that, no, she didn't lose anybody. Hell, had a pretty good luck in the last years. Nice new home at all.

>you were doing it to maintain secretiveness or whether you don't know yourself,

The first. In specific, I meant basically that most of the time she has three attitudes:
1) proper with people higher than her or equal but that she can't open up too. (as usual for her faction, cool but kinda weird, bizarre)
2) When she's more relaxed, pretty competitive. Not PARTICULARY obnoxious, she doesn't give too much of a fuck, but don't make her mad in this regard, better play along.
3) When she's with real friends, surprisngly affectionate and protective. But mostly the first, she really gives up her mask, can even seem meek at times. Not that she doesn't go

So yeah, stylistical experiment went good to me: you had an idea but didn't catch it totally, which was what I was looking for. Describe her but maintain a certain mistery.

The rest of the party calls him paranoid. He is most certainly not. He is pessimistic and constantly examining the situation for how things can go wrong, assured that they most certainly will.

Of course when shit does hit the fan he tends to come up with solutions that are novel at best and impractical and hazardous to his health at worst. The party has long since stopped letting him get near explosives.

Setting is Fading Suns. Basically Dune, more pluralistic and at the same time more "feudal future" than that. Mood isn't exactly Golden Sky Stories, but it's not exactly grimndark - it's a dance between lasting hopelessness (suns have been diying for the past millenium and nothing seems to change it) and a new hope (the new emperor, his teneous peace and a sort of renassaince in knowledge).

She's an Al Malik noble from the (pretty advanced but kinda pastoral, cultured, even conservative) planet of Shaprut. For what is worth, Shaprut has some indian-ish influences, al Maliks are stereotipically prince merchants, secretive and weird, republicanist (both hypocritically and honestly), tech lovers (kinda bad with the church). Good end: a socially apt Elon Musk, perhaps. Bad end: droning "philopher" with way too many stupid tech gadgets and the equivalent of a fedora-tipping attitude.
Always wear the snazziest shit, anyway.

So, her. Like every noble, family is at the core. You might expect some kind of tragedy, but it was more a simpler story of a loss of money and of course status. The funny things about this are that first, now, they're richer than they were before (to the point that their somewhat sketchy status when parents -different families, mother side was kinda noble in name only- married is being forgotten) and her personally didn't mind this that much. She's only 19, and while she felt the "retire to the mountains in 10x smaller home" part more than her younger siblings, she kinda view that with nostalgia (it's kinda hypocritical on her part, she doesn't exaclty mind having even a personal mansion, luxury cars and knows that, but still, reclaimed family palace in the cultured, riverine city feels a little empty).

Interestingly, those are the most common things used in character introductions, at least in my group.
There's a point to be made about finding a good balance when it comes to the internal workings of the character, which I think is what you're trying to pull out from people. If you fill too much of the canvas in right off the bat, you end up with less space to paint as the game progresses.

A guy with a signature cheeky grin and has a heart that's bigger than his brain, despite his best efforts. Although prone to prejudice against other species, he is willing to judge everyone on their individual merit, and believes people deserve a second chance. Some, a third, fourth, fifth, and sixth. He failed once, and died, but by the grace of his friends, he came back slightly uglier but immensely stronger. When he makes a promise, he keeps it, even if he has to trudge through every plain of hell to keep it. He reserves his true strength until he has found something appropriate to unleash the full weight of it against.

Human paladin, reincarnated into a Bugbear. Fights with his fists, until something provokes his ire enough to use his greatsword.

Been trying to make a character since last night for a game that'll probably never happen.

Emotionally unstable from traumatic childhood. Dependent on others for help as well as emotional well-being. Constantly seeks the favor of others. Hates racist trash parents and the corporate systems that assist or tolerate them. Stays at home mostly on the matrix or in her foster parents old books and thinks deckers/techboys are cute. Runs shadows to help keep the family talisman shop from being bought out by corps for land development.

I could drone on her sisters (and her weird brother, not on the planet now) but this is getting long already: suffice to say that someone competitive would feel pretty much pressure even from younger, not even form the older one (a somewhat already accomplished space merchantess on the trail of her father).
Altough her niche is pretty impressive, her being an accomplished pilot of space variable fighters [yep, pretty much that Macross shit, with an hint of NGE syncro technobabble. Not canon in FS proper, but canonically Shaprut has been on a aerospace warforce tech surge for a century, if anyone is asking], against young age and to an extent her gendre, building a public personality about that (like every good AM would. Personally, she wasn't that sold on that) recently the emperor's peace finally reached the financially most ambitious' projects.
Suffice to say, they don't need that many pilots or indeed officers, . Perhaps a second-rate instructor, but... well, the fact is that now she's (more or less) ready to embark on a quest for a very special Lost World.

The only time this egoism will not come to the forefront of his personality is when he speaks among his own siblings, whose opinions he will put great weight in, no matter how nonsensical they would be were they spoken by any other person.

He is not cruel, despite his inflated sense of self-worth, and takes the idea of noblesse oblige to heart. Despite his perceived superiority, he believes it is his duty to help those beneath him find satisfaction and direction in their lives, and champions the downtrodden, reviling those with power who lack the ambition to use it properly, and instead fall to pettiness.

He has a weakness for melodrama, and often will make intentionally non-optimal decisions when all eyes are upon him, purely for the sake of style and theme, and the only time he becomes genuinely enraged, beyond the low-level irritation he feels at almost all times, is when his dramatic flow is negated or broken somehow.

All in all, an extremely intense person who strives to uphold noble ideals, and serves as one of the major driving forces behind his faction's movements, but often alienates people at first sight due to a seeming inability or lack of desire to stem his overblown posturing, even when it becomes an active hindrance.

My current character is habitually dishonest to everyone he meets. He likes to make up stories that will ingratiate himself into positions of power and prestige, and he's very good at keeping track of them all. He enjoys laughing and making people laugh, regardless of his real intentions.

He dreams of wealth unimaginable, and desperately wants to attain said wealth by any means at his disposal, even if he has to cut a deal with the devil (or worse) himself.

Despite the above, he doesn't like killing, especially for its own sake, and will take offense to being associated with the sort of people who do. He actively avoids people who like the bloodletting too much, and prefers the company of men of business and/or adventure and exploration. He'll take an easy win and a quick buck over a dangerous, legally sketchy job.

For those who are curious: He's a gentleman thief and a warlock (in the DND 5e sense), who uses his charm and eldritch magic to heist and con. He believes he has professional standards, although I haven't gotten a chance to test that yet in play. He is a half-elf, and I would have him vacillate between a travelling Wizard, rich Prince, or skilled Mercenary public image as necessary.

With nothing else to believe in, there is nothing else to fear. She will defend them with her heart and life, as a true paladin would.

A young man hellbent on recovering an item stolen from his associates, grew up on the coast in a capital city with his parents. His mother was a gardener for the city and his father worked at the library as a guard. Both were killed in a war between his kingdom and the neighbouring one.
Fell in with a rough crowd of orphans from the war.
Spent a time in his late teens, early adult life working on the docks and did a bit of sailing.
With not much left in his life, is motivated by greed and his loyalty to his friends.

Fine anons. I try to make a semi-not-boring character and I inadvertently make a tumblr.

I'll just scrap the idea and just make a turboslut rigger who likes having sex on top of car hoods. constantly makes sexual innuendos. When she wins a race she rapes the loser instead of taking their car or money. Is a size queen, and wants Big Horned Troll dick as well as high caliber rounds and giant drones. Does all the drugs, long haul, kamikaze, deep weed once. "Heya mage boy. I'll take your wizardhood from you if you're afraid of gettin' geeked."

Neither have I, any shitters claiming text only is slow are confirmed shit writers that I wouldn't want to waste my time with anyway.

Getting into an online text game wasn't that hard, comparatively speaking.

A man who is haunted by a "workplace accident" that nearly put him out of his sporting career. He's recently come back to play totally bloodthirsty, and is now known for his reckless attitude, putting others and himself in danger while playing the sport. His new attitude on life has created a strained relationship with his wife and the people around him, but he doesn't care about them anymore. All he cares about is the fame, the glory, and making sure he doesn't end up humiliated again.

Now that I think about it, he is a bit of a one dimensional edgelord, but it's not like he doesn't fit our campaign.

My character is defined by his sense of integrity, honesty, and his faith in the innate goodness within most form of sentient life. He strives to give his all into whatever his interests lie, and sadly, unfortunately, his interests lie in people. He fears the day when he becomes too weak to perform his duty, and he loathes himself somewhat (especially when deep within his cups) for his sole talent in inflicting violence against those who would do so upon others. My character enjoys helping people become better than they were the day prior, but after so much trial and oh-so-many errors, he has finally learned adjust his intensities and passions to better empathize with those he seeks to help. He loves passionately but recklessly, giving trust without restriction until the moment comes when such trust is unfounded. He has been extremely lucky (or perhaps skilled) to survive to the age he is now. He dreams of either finding a love great enough to set aside his halberd or a death worthy enough for his god's notice (and a fast recruitment to a more purposeful existence in the afterlife).

He has a weakness for edgy sorceresses who fantasize about "turning towards the light for a night."

He's a guy who means well, but has made several mistakes of varying severity, and works to try and correct them. He prefers to stay in high spirits rather than dwelling on those mistakes, and is usually the one trying to get his more serious companions to lighten up with a small joke or witty quip (with varying success), but knows when to get serious when the time calls for it.

When not dealing with SRS BSNS, he and his younger sister like to prank and irritate the city's captain of the guard. Other non-combat hobbies are reading, and enjoys both fiction and non-fiction, and regularly donates percentages of his earnings to the local orphanage he and his sister grew up in.

An orphan raised by his grandfather in a decadent and split kingdom. His head was filled with stories of old and how his homeland was once the envy and model of the world, as a result he became highly idealistic and tries to uphold the chivalrious values of yore in a world that clearly has forsaken them for good.

He lacks confidence and resolve though, and will try to stay away from trouble if possible, fearing his actions may cause more suffering than good in the end. He's more of a mender than a protector.

In a world ravaged and ruled by God kings, he'll try to prove to himself that common folk like him can also make a difference, so that he can then remind his kin of the greatness and magnanimity that they once supposedly embodied and rebuild his homeland.

My character is sad. Years of heartbreak. He has loved the younger races, since he himself was young. He has cared, so deeply, about so many of them- and he has far outlived them all.
He has seen most of the things his world has to offer him now. Seasoned in travel. Skilled in kindness. But the world is changing.
The younger races will not listen to him anymore. No longer do they sit and ask him to tell stories. They've started to build massive homes, and use complex machines. He knows this is his fault. He taught them so many of the skills they now use.
His twilight years are upon him. He is ready to leave this world. It has no use for the ancients. It has no use for adventurers. He is ready for eternal rest.
Never again, will the world know someone as kind, patient or caring. It is the age of the young races, and there is no space left in it for him. He does not fault them for this- he is too old to allow himself to be bitter.
Every day, as his strength fades, he still grows amused by watching them. By interacting with them. Always he will view them, like young children learning to walk. The wonder of their kind never left him. But his awe to them left years ago. He is ready to die.

>>Their race/species
Half-giant (from Father's side) doesn't actually know it; is often mistaken for, and also believes that he is simply an abnormally large human (think somebody about as big as the actor who plays the mountain)
His very pregnant mother was found disheveled and apparently abandoned by the roadside by traveling gypsies/carnies.
She immediately went into labor when found, and was given aid by the troupe; after giving birth to him, she had just enough energy to give him a name, but died from the duress of having to birth a half-giant shortly thereafter.
>>Their profession/skill set
Due to his very quick growth into a boy much larger and stronger than even most adults, it was decided by the troupe that he'd be trained to be their resident strongman, and catch-wrestler.
He's not only a skilled grappler, but also a consummate showman, and a bit of a hustler, as is to be expected by a member of a traveling carnival
He's quite light on his feet and rather agile for somebody his size
Also, handy with a needle and thread, surprisingly enough
>>Their gear/appearance
stands at about 7 feet tall; he's nearly as wide as he is tall; very muscular
wears typical traveler's gear when he's not performing, save for his signature mask, which he never removes in public under any circumstances whatsoever.
when he's performing, he wears the traditional outfit of a typical old-time strongman- tights, boots, etc.
If you want >specifics
+2 belt of physical perfection
gloves of titan's grip
ring of sustenance
boots of striding and springing
Twist cloth 'armor'

Starting off as a well meaning adventurer, he eventually became disturbed at all the death he saw around him. Why would the gods not stop it? He concluded that death was very, very necessary, and that the gods in fact were guilty of another evil. They had allowed death to become demonised, vilified. After traumatic events involving a crime lord, an orphan, a rescue attempt, and a magic pistol, as well as many of his adventuring companions teetering on the edge of the abyss, he made his decision. He swore to kill the god of joy, and swore allegiance to what he calls "the cycle". Joy cannot exist without pain. Now he is a dark, dry character, but not joyless. He is still a person, after all. Hiding behind his seemingly rough but welcoming figure is what some may call a monster.

Light and dark are intertwined. And thus, man's soul is also defined.

A not-untalented half elf mage, my character was promised a great future by a seer in his youth. Sadly he believed this, and thus grew up hampered by laziness and narcisistic overconfidence.
A recent dropout of a prestigious academy, he is slightly built and foppish in appearance, preoccupied less with being prepared than he is with being impressive, particularly to young females.

Howd I do?
>>
>>52749464

I get that a character should have more depth than
>I am a [RACE] [CLASS] and I look like [APPEARANCE].

But often times some of those things are vitally important for context for the rest of your background. But it varies. My current DND campaign character's background is an exercise in juxtaposition, physical, philosophical, and mental, so it loses a good amount of the impact to not mention them. Meanwhile, my previous character never needed to mention those things, because what was most important about him was his goals, why he had them, how he advanced them in the past, and how he was advancing them in the present.
>>
>>52749464
Character grew up on an island out of the way that was largely ignored due to continental wars on the mainland. The island was built via magic by her ancestors to try and hide in a more hospitable climate because of ancient large scale wars her people wanted nothing to do with.

Once things civilized on the mainland they had travelers show up who liked some of the shiny resources they had. Her people weren't okay with the new folks trying to steal stuff and setting up shop so war ensued, but her people lost. Character grew up with hostile occupiers destroying her homeland/ people/ culture and became increasingly bitter. She had some secret mentoring done to try and get some revenge. It worked but also fucked over her own people so she fled rather than stay and face the consequences/ help her people in the aftermath.

I try and play her up as a pretty flawed character, but one who wants redemption but doesn't think she deserves it. She struggles with having empathy for people outside her homeland but tries to fake it/ be useful to make others think she's a good person and help keep her safe. She can be quite sheepish when looking for approval, cowardly, and childish given the situation. Character wise she could quite easily become a very shitty person but some culture instilled in her upbringing makes her snobby enough to want to appear more ethical than the common rabble. Personally I consider her a bad person, but she's aware of her flaws and has some drive to became a better person largely for self preservation sake. I think if she became too powerful and didn't create enough of a bond with the people she traveled with, she'd just abandon them while they slept.

Started off as a mercenary of sorts with a bunch of his friends. Made their way south in search of wealth, women, and renown. Though they'd become decent fighters, they were no match for the bandit party that killed his 3 friends and nearly killed him. He was unconscious for days, during which time his dreams came and went. Upon his awakening, he began to fight true evil as a man with nothing left to lose in this world. Due to his past he struggles to call his new party his friends, for fear of losing them all once more. However he'll lay his life on the line for them without a second thought.

He's a man on a path to recovery from an incredibly traumatic event, and though he's started becoming more close with his new group he still struggles greatly with his fears. Although it's not a terribly in depth or unique backstory really, it's alright considering I created the whole thing on the fly while travelling to the DM's house.

A scholar who when through a rather life changing event that made him a more spiritual sort than before.

The event left him more than scarred physically, and because of his occupation, the physical change has rather negative implications about the extensiveness of his work, but ironically he was not the source of the change.

The results of his work are both destructive and capable of healing, but is the fruits of his own labor travelling and understanding materials around the world. He sells these metaphorical fruits as both knowledge and physical help to advance his name and profession.

Has only committed one crime of kidnapping, at the behest of a friend. Because of who he works for, and the nature of his work, he's got off the hook due to his previous services.

Encouraged by adventurous stories of noble knights and heroes. Knowing she will one day be trapped with the responsibilities of her kingdom.

A strong willed person who often demands respect where she can get it and can be at times uncouth or aggressive with those who she believes disrespect her. She can be very stubborn and proud at times refusing advice or to back down from her position. Though a force of personality and authority she can very easily become flustered or out of touch due to her upbringing or unfamiliar circumstances.

Out of touch with commoners often dressing in expensive and fanciful clothing. Fond of luxurious places, warm baths, food, and drink and becomes irritable or melancholy when denied such luxuries for too long.

He's been researching the matter of overcoming illness and early deaths as a whole by matter of arcane magic for almost 2 centuries before eventually diving too deep into things and going the distance of stealing and destroying a 'holy' artifact belonging to the god of death, using its power to ascend to unvoluntarily ascend to Lichdom, killing the entire university-city he was researching in in the process, as he didn't predict the consequences.

Being a lich, but still intending to do good for the world, he constructed a dungeon in an abandoned dwarven city, effectively turning it into a gigantic laboratory, trying to 'fix things'. His presence there was well known, but rarely did anyone dare venture into the ruins, nor did he ever harm anyone outside his dungeon and avoided harming even the invaders that did come, instead locking the ruins into what is effectively a Rubix Cube labyrinth. His only actual enemy was the aforementioned God, who was the main reason for sealing himself into the cube, as to keep him out until he finds a solution.

After centuries, he managed to discover a way to finally rid himself of his "curse" by stripping himself of his powers, locking them into effectively a second Phylactery, locking both away far part from each other and cleaning his entire memory of how he managed to ascend and where the Phylacteries are hidden, as to not be tempted by it. Effectively, he was left as an amnesiac undead with no more than basic Necromancy knowledge and a Phylactery in an unknown location, not even knowing that he was an actual Lich and trying to find an answer himself.

He was picked up by the party while they were holding out in a town's garrison during an Orc siege, being freed after nearly a century because they required additional help and had nobody capable of dealing with Arcane magic. His only remnant of Lichdom is a skeletal hand that was turned into his familiar after binding his dead sister's soul to it.

As a young girl she was orphaned when her mother, who had managed to run away from her cruel master dying from exposure shortly after reaching a town where his reach could not follow. Having no parents, in a strange town, and being shunned because who her father is, she survived by stealing food. One day, a local lord saw this girl and took pity on her. He told her that she could stay in his estate, but she must be willing to work. The girl agreed enthusiastically, eager to have a place to call home. So her life began on the lord's estate where she was given the tasks of assisting the servants in their work. This continued for several years. One night she heard a sound near the lord's chamber and went to investigate. There she saw a man dressed in black readying a knife and glaring at her lord. Without a second though, she flung herself into the man and attempted to wrestle away his blade. The commotion startled her lord awake, and upon seeing the girl wrestling the man, gripped a blade he kept at his bedside and drew it. The assassin threw the girl off of him and turned his gaze to the lord in time to see a blade wreathed in arcane energies pierce his chest. The girl righted herself and looked about to see that her lord had slain the man. He gazed over at her, impressed that a girl so young and untrained in combat had been so willing to lay down her life for him. After that day, things changed for the girl, where as before her days were full of the tedium of servant work, now they were filled with training to become his personal guard. she had crept into his library in whenever she could in order to try to learn to read with what little instruction she had gained from the other servants. So during the day she trained, and in the evenings she learned more of the world and of the power her master had used to slain his would be assassin. Her training continued into her early adulthood

One day her lord told her that her apprenticeship under his tutelage had come to an end and that only she could determine how far she would go in the arts she had been trained in. She accepted his praise, though she secretly wondered if she would be able to live up to his expectations. several weeks after, a messenger brought news of rebellion in his liege's lands. Her lord prepared himself and set forth with a contingent of men to ride to his liege's aid. after the rebellion had been crushed, the lord returned to his estates. shortly thereafter the lord's liege came to his estate and a feast was held in his honor. Later that night the girl noticed that it was unnaturally silent in the estate, so she quietly exited her quarters and found several of her lords men dead, their throats slit and their killers quietly arguing, the girl attacked the two assassins and slew one and injured the other. holding a blade to the assassin's throat, she unmasked him. The girl startled when she saw who the assassin was, a man she saw in the liege's entourage . worrying for her lord she rushed to his chambers. Entering the chamber, what she saw could only horrify her. Her master, the man who had shown her so much kindness, lay dead beside his wife. The man standing above them was none other than the liege. In a fit of rage, she attacked the man. Before she was able to even touch the man, she was blown away. realizing that she was outclassed, she fled to where her master's newborn son lay and snatched him from his crib. she and several loyal retainers fled the estate where they split up. several of the servants and the surviving guards pointed out that the emperor would expect them to flee to a nearby port, so they formulated a plan. some would travel to the port, careful to draw as much attention to themselves as possible so that two servants could escape with the child.

Since then, he has lost both parents to illness, but has carried on with their memory, even though they're dead and gone.

Even when it's do or die, no one can make him turn his back on those ideals, the world will never take away his heart. They can try, but they'll never break him, he wants to do his part.

He refuses to explain his conviction, and will never say he's sorry for it.

One guard, sensing all was lost, drugged the girl and snuck her on to a merchant ship from another country. He and the other retainers fought the emperor's men to the last, inflicting a horrible toll on their foes. The girl awoke onboard the ship, panicked when she realized she had no idea where she was. Was she to be sold as a slave? When she came of age and was given the choice of what to do with her adult life, she decided to explore the world and push the limits of the ideology she had been raised under. As she adventures, meets new people and experiences new events her beliefs come under heavy strain. She is constantly pulled between her desire for logical and wise solutions to problems, and the primal emotions stirring in her heart yearning for easy gratification. She wonders if it's even possible to truly maintain a connection with the natural world while also functioning in ever growing societies. So it comes to this. Does she try to meet the expectations of those around her, or does she forsake the greater good to go after her own selfish desires? Her mind yearns for understanding, knowledge, and peace. Meanwhile her heart desires blood, companionship, and glory. The situation only gets worse with every decision she makes. Either sacrificing her own desires to 'get the job done right' or doing what she wants and putting a dent in the relationship with her friends and allies.

He is quick to cast judgement and incredibly stubborn. Once his mind is made up, it is very difficult for anything to change it. While this means that he is inflexible in his standards, it also grants him a strong will. Fiercely loyal to his friends but righteously pitiless to his enemies, his firm belief is that second chances are only given by fools. He is rather cynical, and will assume the worst of people until they earn his respect. His abrasive zealotry masks his sincere desire to see those around him work at improving themselves.

"Selfishness is the child of a chaotic heart."

"Civilization requires order. Order requires certainty. Certainty comes from the Gods and they alone."

You may never read this but I'm gonna help and explain my reasoning

>Emotionally unstable from traumatic childhood. Dependent on others for help as well as emotional well-being. Constantly seeks the favor of others.

Off to a fantastic start of being a victim 100% of the time. Most Tumblrians claim trauma even when there is none. All the while being hugely dependant on others and pretending they aren't.

>Hates racist trash parents and the corporate systems that assist or tolerate them.

Systemic oppression and misogyny

>Stays at home mostly on the matrix or in her foster parents old books and thinks deckers/techboys are cute.

Stays at home and over analyzes things they don't even give two fucks about to "fight the patriarchy!"

>Runs shadows to help keep the family talisman shop from being bought out by corps for land development.

Sounds like it goes hand in hand with Bernie and down with facists commie groups.

Tldr: it's a bland character based on victim and fight the power tropes.

A moderately spoilt young man whose parents decided it would be best if he spent some time away from the capital after he started unintentionally upsetting the magocratic status quo.
Has a rocky relationship with his older brother (who would probably have been forced to arrest him if he'd stayed a few more weeks) who sees him as a "useless daydreamer/nutjob"
Was previously shielded from the burgeoning war and unhappiness of the world before his trip but is slowly becoming less self-involved and more aware of the society his sort of apathy creates and iss triving to correct that. Also he cannot avoid putting his foot in his mouth in any kind of polite company despite talking like he has a silver spoon in his mouth + still working out that mild, unconscious racism.

Jeez that was longer than expected...

>Runs shadows to help keep the family talisman shop from being bought out by corps for land development.

This part can atleast be made workable
>Your family has owned this shop for generations
>Never been huge but always put food on the table and it's something that is genuinely enjoyed
>May not have had many luxuries as a child but you never went hungry
>Mega Corp is undercutting the market and buying up businesses left and right
>Your family's had already been in a rough spot and this is a tipping point
>You turn to shadow running to save the business
>Not to get back at some Mega Corp
>You do it because it keeps your family together and happy

Better motivation than "woe is me I've had such a harder life than anyone else."

This man, we'll call him Sword, is dominated by his ego and revenge.
Sword's father was of great wealth and status, but before he could pass it onto his son, a catastrophe happened that separated Sword's father, and thus Sword, from such prestige and power. Sword's father struggled to regain his power and eventually became a powerful general, but Sword, hearing of his father's feats and thinking the world of him, slowly grew in hatred towards the people he believed betrayed his father. His perfectionism, talent, and drive made him a general prodigy in whatever he attempted, but any failure or defeat, no matter how slight, generated unthinkable levels of anger in the young man. He uses his hatred as an endless supply of fuel to power his schemes.

A weirdo who was raised by cultists without instilling him with any kind of conventional morality, most moral values are self taught but for odd reasons such as:

Killing people is bad because it makes a big mess most of the time, if you have to murder something do it neatly/quietly.

Stealing is bad because sometimes the spirits of people you stole from come back to fuck with and they are really annoying.

Now that I type it out it sounds like it has the capacity to be pretty annoying, any criticism or ideas on how to present "raised without conventional moral values" would be appreciated.

He's an ornery man that's seen his fair share of years, and more than his fair share of unpleasantness. The kind of grizzled that keeps folks at a wide berth. Or did, when there were folks to be keeping at one.

When disaster struck, he hit the dirt; when the dust had settled he got back up only to find he was the only thing left for miles. Took him a few days, coming to terms with what'd happened.

He's got a job to do, even if there ain't no one left to be doing it for. Not that it matters. He didn't take the job on account of the people, or for the pay. He took it because it's a job what needs doing. And as long as he's got breath in him, damnit, it's gonna get done.

My character is a guy that was kicked out of his family and started living in the streets for three years , he was later adopted by a kind history teacher . He is pretty chivalrous guy and try to always protect those he swore oaths to , but this is also a mask of his true feelings , he is uncaring for others with the exception of his adoptive mother , most of the time and has frequent bursts of anger usually making people distrust him. He has a lot more conflicts with his mind on doing what he thinks is right and what he wants for himself.
And he has pledged an oath for a goddess and most of the time he gets in shitty situations because of this.

Its not really hard just in "most" cases text only games are *really* slow depending on the gm and the people. I have a mic but I don't really like trying to voice act people-I can give details on actions places how people look and so on but I don't like giving them a voice at all so for that part I do in text.

The same goes for players who don't live in your country they might be a good player but half the the time you don't know what they are saying and that's before "voice acting". I understand that text along with "online" games are not normal and having to fake a voice is something that happens all the time in "real" tabletop games but I just don't like doing it at all.

An illusioned woman, thirsting for grandeur in battle, such as the one she had seen in her youth, seeking to earn bardic legends and epics in her name.

This results in reckless and rash decisions in battle, usually leading to awkward situations, solved by relentless assault on her part or the party incapacitating her, followed by advancing in the other direction.

Outside of battle she bears an unquenchable hatred towards orcs, picking fights and throwing insults where applicable and not resulting in her being thrown in jail or beheaded. Otherwise possessing a choleric temperament, prone to impulse.

Such action inevitably either leads to a tragic Don Quixote-like depression and lethargy or a merciless butcher, living only for the fight.

(This may sound like a murderhobo, but i use it to spark RP and ingame jokes or tales, i swear /tg/, im not that guy :( )

I'm forever DM, but some of these responses make me want to get in on this, so I'll just use my player''s characters.

1. Insecure noble kid who has little worldly experience but huge dreams. Manages to get through life on a strict "fake it till you make it" policy. Enjoys reading books as escapism and inspiration for crackpot ideas. Is also a powerful mage, but cares more about discussing his favorite book series with anyone who will pretend to listen.

2. Disowned son of a family in charge of minting coins. Was drafted into another country's military, lost his soul in their super soldier program, is now AWOL and very bitter. He has his humanizing moments, but since the supersoldier alterations kicked in and his only real friend was promoted and sent back to the front lines against the undead, those are becoming few and far between.

3. Independent "contractor" hired by the mob to try to convince 2 to do a job for the family. Is really just using the mob as a means to an end. Likes to hit on women, drink booze, and shoot people. Is only good at 2 of those. Really cares about his brother.

I can only do that for one of my current characters.
One of them comes from another universe and protects those of his race that he can find in the universe he's currently in, because that's what feels most like home.
One of them wants to make the world's greatest circus, has been training to make that a possibility and is adventuring to try to actually make that a reality.
One of them was literally given magic powers by his god.

The one I can do it for: He's a brash young man with temper issues and mafia connections who found an amulet hidden in the depths of an ancient ruin. This amulet houses the soul of one of the former inhabitants of said ruin, which has interesting implications for the metaphysical state of said inhabitant, and for the young man.

Life was tough for Seyton, growing up an outcast in the city of Ank'arage he often found himself dealing with a number of dangerous people, dancing around the edge of danger and surviving off sheer audacity. This could only take him so far however and inevitably he found himself cornered, unarmed and outnumbered. All the same he fought on, and lost, quite badly. As he lay there on the ground, gasping his dying breath a dark god spoke to him. The ghost of an ancient tyrant, who's name and empire had been long lost to history, offered him life anew and power to enact his will upon the world. All he had to do was serve the tyrants plans. Seyton accepted, rose and enjoyed the slow revenge on those that had thought to kill him and when the tyrant called for his services, Seyton was more than willing to oblige.

That was 72 years ago and still Seyton serves, though to look upon his face, not a day has passed.

My character believes that death, sickness and disease are part of the natural cycle of life that ensure the strong survive.
The weak, the sick, the elderly and the disabled need to be culled so the strong can thrive.
Urban environments and society in general tip the balance negatively. Individuals that would never survive in harsh conditions are allowed to live and reproduce, passing on their weakness to newer generations.
He's not necessarily evil, just a stark pragmatist.

Tends to go on ad nauseam about his current subjects of study when he gets a chance to talk about them, being a bit isolated and lonely due to his circumstances and frequently finding himself talking to himself as if he was lecturing a room of students
>Paradoxically, hes ended up more often in the field than in a classroom, preferring immerse himself in his work to the point that hes abdicated from his inheritance (undecided on the land and title, precisely)

She is extremely critical of any established wisdom or tradition, and will go out of her way to test it. She tends to blunder her way through social situations with little to no manners. She has a dream of transforming herself into a godlike being, not a god mind you, because she doesn't think those exist. She wishes she could be friendly and peaceful, but she is prone to holding grudges, having murderous thoughts, and is unable to hold back when she has something to say and is angry. She has a tendency to follow along with whoever makes the most sense at the moment, and only leads if the matter is something she knows she can do. She almost never sleeps, when she does she snores and takes weird positions. She only has one real friend, and barely tolerates everyone else she is forced to interact with. She finds stupid things like a creature's appearance or someone fucking up their grammar funny, while more traditional comedy does nothing for her. She has been homeless for most of her life. She hates her father, and wants to kill him.

I think I did pretty good.

A kind of bro-dude that likes danger and drinking, capable of being somewhat sweet and understanding but is quick to decide that fists are just as valid as words in some instances. Is supportive to his few close friends, but usually the support translates to drawing aggro. Has a weak spot for doing favors to cute girls, even to the possible detriment of his reputation.

An old man from Las Vegas that used to be married briefly to Belinda Carlisle. He is obsessed with cryptids and conspiracy theories and works (worked) as a janitor in a high school, so he tries to stay on top of the lingo (not super good at it). Also is very open to mind-altering substances.

An aloof goddess that helps when it's necessary, but prefers the humans to work things out on their own. Goes with the flow of the pantheon, usually pretty content with the current state of affairs at any given time, likes to end combat quickly with tidal waves.

A displaced warlord that fought his way to the top, maintains rule through violent subjugation of usurpers. Fully expects anyone he comes across to show respect and do as he asks without question. Uses his allies to their fullest potential, and constantly keeps an eye on his surroundings to find ways to decisively win combats. Subscribes to a kind of unspoken honor system when fighting- if someone is fighting, the opponent is theirs to kill and interference is looked down on (but the blows fall as they may, and sometimes he and his peers must retroactively decide who killed a particular foe). Also, good with animals.

Having escaped from being a child sacrifice from a corrupt church at a young age, my character is brave but all too aware of her own weaknesses. She's driven both out of a desire for retribution against the forces of evil, as well as to protect the children of the realm from further predation.

She is generally kind and caring, and ultimately undertakes her quests for altruistic purposes, but sometimes relies far too heavily on her companions due to her lack of confidence and can be too trusting for her own good.

That being said, she pursues her goals relentlessly, and uses the assistance of others as a helping hand and a drive to achieve her goals rather than as a crutch.

My character is an angry motherfucker who fights for justice because the world has repeatedly over and over stomped on him, and he's had it. He won't let the world stomp on others like it did to him. My character, a simple man who grew up on the countryside, where people are less literate, and honestly, pretty dumb. Who had a tremendous love for horses. One day met what he calls "the horse god" and described it as a the most beautiful horse he had ever seen. It spoke to him in a language he didn't understand, as he didn't speak horse, imbued him with horse-like strength and went on its way again. Wanting to find out what all that was about, he set out to find his ultimate destiny, find out what "the horse god" wanted of him, and maybe see some horses.
He may or may not have made up half of that on the fly when a wierd wizard-thing abducted him and interogated him in an effort to find out whether he was worthy to fulfill the mysterious quest it wanted to send him on or not after asking for his help. Possibly cleverly lampshading the wierd sircumstances surrounding his abduction, the request, the interogation, as well as the wierd wizard thing deciding to appear before him as a horse before changing into a normal human. His actual backstory as such remains a mystery, but he's a swell guy who likes to help out where he can.
>>
>>52749464
My character is motivated by religious/spiritual purpose and is trying to restore some sense of balance to the world or rather stability, as 'balance' is a rather crappy word to use for motivations. In that task, it struggles to balance out some way to be righteous and virtuous as he has to deal with an increasingly complicated situation. (Not so much because the GM bring moral complexity to the table so much that there is a fine line between being the 'good one' and having to deal with the shenanigans of other PC, both IC and OOC).

No it's not a Paladin. It's a Zenith Caste Solar Exalted
