Yeah I forgot a campsite kit doesn't come with a tent, but it does mention that the PC's should buy some if they expect unfavorable weather conditions. And since the kit is meant for at most 4 people then buying two medium sized tents along with it is a good deal.

What's a good way to convince a DM that PoW stuff is generally okay without going too far? Mine thinks PoW is inherently overly complicated and overpowered and can't be convinced otherwise. They only like vanilla stuff and barely allow base classes like Oracle and Witch because they think they are too snowflake and take too much to learn, which also extends to stuff like Kineticists, psionics, and unchained classes.

I was thinking either show how much damage a 1pp only straightforward bow fighter is capable of doing or showing them how flexible/complicated/useful a full wizard or cleric is once you start picking 10+ spells a day.

No, I can't leave. They have shackled themselves to me and I typed this out while they were sleeping.

>They only like vanilla stuff and barely allow base classes like Oracle and Witch because they think they are too snowflake and take too much to learn, which also extends to stuff like Kineticists, psionics, and unchained classes.

>>
>>52750107
You won't.
He is too wrapped up in his own idea of muh D&D to see past his own nose.
Fortunately, my DMs have generally not cared about ToB/PoW stuff, not just because no one has pushed it to nonsense, but because I always use it as powerful group support.
>>
>>52750107

Even some pfg games ban PoW because it raises the bar too much, to the point of having to adjust module encounters heavily. You might just have to accept it.

SoP gets a pass because it tones everything down. Spheres simplify and focus caster abilities, god wizard mode is reduced, and spell points are just a counter akin to ki points.

I'm actually a bit surprised that you don't see the occasional "SoP casting only" games going on.

>>52750216
>He is too wrapped up in his own idea of muh D&D to see past his own nose.

This is hilarious to see here of all places. /pfg/ has very concrete ideas of what is and is not "real pathfinder". No 3pp? Reeeeeeee. No SoP? Reeeeee. Less than 25 bp? Reeeee. Not set in default vanillaworld? Reeeee. And so on.

>>
>>52750343
38, actually.
>>52750280
The difference is that those are counter to the broader assumptions of the game and offer something concrete.
25pb allows all classes to be viable mechanically, for example, and PoW/SoP allow for strong options for players that are not nearly as overwhelming as thing offered in the core game as well as offering approaches the core game does not.
>>
>>52750438

I personally love EVERY OTHER WEEK games, it keeps the game from becoming a chore and makes it a bi-monthly thing you look forward to.

Don't be an idiot. Hivemind?

Yes, some people share ideas.
Many for example do view 3pp as a better alternative to "1pp only", or worse yet "core only" (rare but still seen on occasion). Look at what they then argue should be used or not used out of the stack, however. That's not a hive mind.

Less than 25pb? That's a little more accepted. It's been proven time and time again that the lowest point-buys are severely detrimental to multiple-attribute-dependant classes/characters/builds, while barely - if at all - affecting SAD types in any meaningful fashion. At 10 points a full-caster can have 18 in his casting stat without buying any negatives. Meanwhile the thief that wants 12 strength, 14 dex and 12 charisma is not only not going to do all that well in combat or at his skills, but he's got a single point left he can turn a 10 into an 11 or a 12 into a 13 with, and that's the end of it without crashing his skill points, hit points or his will saves and perception.
That's not "hivemind" that's fucking reason.

Vanillaworld doesn't fucking matter; everyone changes it. What DOES matter is that standard golarion is LITERALLY THE STANDARD by which we have to measure the system. When someone goes "THAT'S NOT TRUE THERE'S NO LASER ROBOTS ON GOLARION", well that's a fucking lie, there are. You can remove them from your campaign, but that doesn't mean they don't exist in the base, and pretending you're not homebrewing some of the setting is deliberate deceit. You can decide Iomedae is Lawful Good in your campaign, and that's fine, but if you argue she's always lawful good everywhere on golarion without even saying that's "for my campaign" then that's a fucking lie. Problem is, that's what gets tossed about. People will argue something stupid for hours while pretending the entire time that it's anything but their own homebrew. That's not a fucking hivemind.

How's this for a crude backstory greentext for Overlewd?
>Long ago, there was a powerful wizard
>At the peak of his power, in the midst of his greatest ritual, he was cut down
>Rather than becoming a godling, he became something not quite a man and not quite a god

Noob GM here. Some friends and I played a homebrew of mine, and we had a lot of fun, but we're scrapping it, since it went kinda haywire. Our new campaign starts tomorrow. If anbody has ever read "The Spook's Apprentice", then you probably know the theme. It's set in an alternate England, where magic is a thing, but witchhunters and bandits are running around suppressing it and oppressing people. I need some sort of monster stat blocks for an (initially) level one party to fight. Preferably bandits of some sort (low HP and Armour, but decent weapons), tribesmen (high hp and tough as fuck, but little armour and not great weapons) and witchhunters (skilled and fanatics, but not particularly strong or tough).
Villagers for a mob would be nice too.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Happened to my GF. She was running an Esso station with its corner-store a few years ago. Employer was Couche-Tard (Canadian 7-11)

>Must have 2 people in the store minimum at all times
>The money she's allowed for payroll every week is 3115 instead of the 3780 this would cost at minimum wage.
>The store CANNOT operate properly without at least three people in there during the day: there's just too many clients. Any less than two cashiers and one on the floor the shop crawls to a halt in under two hours
>Night shift actually gets an extra dollar an hour, so it's even more expensive than the above calculation, doubly so if there's two people
>She has to both cut someone from every day AND both she and the assistant manager (both salaried and separate from the per-hour pay available) do one free shift in addition to their full workload, for payroll to stay in the black.
>Disciplinary action taken against her the one time the store got held up, because there HAVE to be two people at all times.

I worked at a Couche-Tard for 7 years, starting at 14. I have mad respect for managers there because they literally are there 70+ hours a week on a 35 hours a week pay.

>>52752726
I only had one manager who wasn't like that and that fat bitch was cheating people out of their lunch hour (you work through it because you never have enough people, but she marks it off as having left the store).

The other two managers I had through college though were great. One of them was actually stuck managing two fucking stores, so I'm pretty sure he was topping 90 hours a week. In the four years I worked with him, he gained like 20 fucking years on his face.

I was his night guy; I only managed to get through because the old regulars who'd drop their wives off at church at 5am would help me with the newspapers and coffee in the morning. We had an ongoing deal; those guys never paid for coffee. The ambulance guys either; the faster those drunks or the idiots trying wheelies on pothole-mountain (Cote des Neiges actually) were gone from my store the faster I could finally clean that blood off of the shelves.

Hey guys, I'm in my first campaign ever with pathfinder/tabletops in general and therefore am extremely scrubbish.

My tiefling rogue got absolutely smashed last session (we're playing through Hell's Rebels, and just made it to the second book), and I want to try a hell knight. What's a good way to build a character with the intention of being a hellknight, considering we're all only like level 4 right now

Antipaladin is a good route for one, if not then just a normal fighter works too.

I know that poison builds in general are pretty widely considered awful, but in a group full of people who aren't interested in optimizing or min/maxing even a little bit, could an optimized poison build keep up?

I've had some ideas kicking around for a new character, an alchemist with either the eldritch poisoner or the toxicant/interrogator archetypes. Could it work?
>>
>>52754591
>could an optimized poison build keep up?
Only if you're are dealing with big bloaty enemies, prefer a tactical stealth option, are doing intrigue stuff, or can reliable dart across battle and if combat lasts for more than 2-3 rounds.

From what I understand the campaign I'm going into is going to be minimal combat with heavy roleplaying, which is why the idea was appealing to me. In an urban setting I don't think a bomb-focused alchemist would fare too well, so I thought a poisoner might be a fun alternative to try.
>>
I really wish there was a /pfg/ where people were encouraged to strength their optimization muscles instead of all this 'show restraint' shit we have. Because the moment someone says 'optimize' it seems like everyone on /pfg/ immediately starts jacking it to 'lel foresight divination god wizard' and not just well optimized characters of other classes.

>>
>>52754672
I wish there was a /pfg/ where people talked about Pathfinder instead of all this weeb shit and ERP.
>>
>>52754672
The problem is that the phrase "optimization" has multiple meanings and can be used for particular instances, so this causes an issue where we associate optimization with one definition over the other, and it then leads to a hesitancy to use it.

This, combined with both PF's crappy internal balance, as well as what is often a vaguery in what the optimization level of both the other players and the DM's intentiion just leaves a whole lot up in the air, that it causes hesitancy and makes people want to just play it safe instead.

>>52754769
And I wish you would go jump into a well you faggot leprechaun.
>>
>>52754672
I try to optimize, I'm just bad at it and don't usually like the characters that I end up with while doing it. If I DO actually start to go FULL OPTIMIZATION, I likely will hold back in actual play from going all out, because I'm a fucking sucker for the idea of not showing my full potential until things start to go south.
That and every fucking build I make doesn't even start coming fully online until 4th or 5th at minimum, so I'm kinda stuck on a slow burn.

I just don't get it. There are plenty of porn games out there that let you customize your characters if you're interested in roleplaying out a jerkoff fantasy.

Why do you people feel need to drown out every attempt at genuine discussion with this degenerate filth?
>>
>>52754807
What do people mean by "not coming online till 4th or 5th"? Are you not effective from the moment you start play? That doesn't sound like optimization.

>>52754836
I've seen a bit of this when you push to the high limits of the system, since there's clear cut better options that end up going into a lot of builds. I wish this games floor was a lot closer to the ceiling in terms of build quality.
>>
>>52754836
Then your mind is defective. You're part of the camp that's acting like any optimization immediately falls down the 'broken blade & primal fury' tunnel for PoW or 'wizards with his summoned army' for Paizo. Which just isn't fucking true. Anyone who thinks that needs to get their head checked. There are characters in numerous concepts optimized to do different things in different ways.

In my case it usually means it's just missing huge chunks of what makes it "work". Coming Online is something I see as coming in stages. You have baseline competency (Magus or URogue hitting 3 for D2D, or a Barbarian Taking Power Attack, ranged character taking Precise Shot) where its the floor for being able to do ANYTHING. You then have build focus (Sap Master Rogue, Dragon Style UMonk, bow user getting the rest of their feats) where you've gotta wait till a certain level for whatever you're building for to really kick in. Then I guess there's the "end", where you have everything you wanted to build towards and have the freedom to fuck around.

Last thread, there was an anon who wanted help building his Brewkeeper. We helped him, kept giving him advice, but he kept doing "Bwah that's not what I want! Why can't I ever get good advice!?"

He then started whining about how no one ever responds to questions for build advice, and kept avatarfagging as well along with whining when other people starting "stealing" his avatar gimmick, and whenever anyone tried to tell him otherwise and point out all the times he was given advice and responded to him, he just kep posting more avatar pics going "lel u mad an need to calm down, I is of the superior mindset and intamalect!"

So yeah, the point of saying "no one responds to genuine questions" is bullshit, as its not that we don't respond, but rather fags who won't accept advice when given just make doing so even more autistic and cancerous than the weeb degeneracy spam.

That's not really the point here. Both a Eternal Guardian/Scarlet Throne and Steel Serpent/Veiled Moon initiators can be optimized and be vastly different.

An oracle and witch can both be optimized and be very different.

For your question the answer would be a Savage Technologist who gets TWF when raging, get Snap Shot at level 6. Put a shield spike on your shield, make sure it's a light shield so you can finesse with it (or not your rage also gives Str so what ever), and shield bash with it while firing. Make sure you buy a revolver so you can fire enough time during combat.

The idea isn't "every concept is viable" it's that there are so many viable concepts that "them blurring together" is asinine.

As for then getting heavy armor as the Savage Technologist get Heavy Armor Proficiency either with an oracle VMC into Battle or just take the feat since you already have medium.

Then for "single large attacks" you're going to need to head into PoW because Paizo doesn't support it outside of mythic. HOWEVER Savage Technologist and the Primal Disciple stack.

So as a Primal Disciple Savage Technologist TWF with a spiked light shield, taking Crack Shot, and using maneuvers, plus either VMCing or taking a feat for Heavy Armor Proficiency you now have a character you just described.

>>52754958
That's deliberately suboptimal, but Overwatch Style memes and a buckler, or go down the Sword & Pistol prereqs, picking up Improved Shield Bash and Shield Slam on the way. Use a light shield because duh. You're gonna need to be a Fighter or Ranger for all the feats before 10. Trench Fighter 3 and Finesse makes you Dex focused. You bop people away with your shield to get out of their threat range, 5ft step if necessary, and shoot their asses.

It'd probably be better as a Primal Disciple Savage Technologist for:
>uses gun & shield
>big armor
>single large attacks

With those you require a lot of feats, looking at:
>deadly aim
>point blank shot
>precise shot
>rapid shot
>weapon focus
>snap shot
>heavy armor proficiency

As a human you're looking at this pretty far down the road, but that only really matters if you're actually pressed up against the guy, because otherwise half these feats become unimportant, especially with initiating.

Iron Tortoise + Tempest Gale for Shield & Gun fun.

Paizo can sort of do it outside of mythic.

Vital Strike is best used with an Earthbreaker

>Fighter (Titan Fighter) dip
>Thunder and Fang feat
>Obtain Juggernaut's Pauldrons
or
>multiclass into either Skald (Totemic Skald - with a Mask of Giants), Druid (Goliath Druid), Druid (Skinshaper) or Alchemist (Metamorph)

Enjoy. For relevant rulings:

>Giant Weapon Wielder (Ex) = Large Earthbreaker in 2h
>Thunder and Fang = Large Earthbreaker in 1h
>Therefore both = Huge Earthbreaker in 2h

Bumping your size up continues this trend of wielding something far larger than you should. Its full anime style retarded. With Impact or Lead Blades you can easily hit Colossal size damage dice. At that point, Vital Strike becomes viable.
>>
>>52755293
I kinda wish boosts and stances weren't a thing, or at least didn't have any bonuses to damage attached to them. Plenty of people who aren't that person come here looking for discussion and no one even sees their posts because everyone is too busy weebposting.

I mostly lurk since I genuinely like the game and I enjoy reading about different character ideas, but these days that type of discussion is so rare. Every post now is either weebposting or people complaining about weebposting. Nobody really talks about the actual game anymore, and whenever anyone tries, the discussion is stifled by people talking about which cartoon girl they want to fuck the most.

So to talk a bit about game stuff. I'm looking to see if I have missed anything from my "group supplies" list. I have separated the supplies onto two Yaks. One Yak carries the majority of the stuff the other Yak is mainly for carrying loot once loot is garnered.

I have it separated into categories:

Am I missing anything vital?

For reference this is for a party of 6, this means we are a little short in some supplies, like we only have 4 shovels, 2 saws, and 2 balancing poles, but I thought we generally didn't all need to be using them at once.

I like ships that are actually detailed and explained, this "I want X to bone Y because it makes me horny" isn't going to sate your lust and will in fact only frustrate you more.

It was ground zero for a lot of things, but the anon who described exactly why Valeriya and Casimir would be great together was an example of ship-posting done right. The person actually put a brain cell to the task of thinking why the two would work together.

To be fair, Kyras x Seht wasn't meant to make anyone horny. It was meant to make their players look stupid and get angry.

It backfired--I find it hilarious and actually a little sweet

Oh, for sure. I was just using that post as the rock and nutrition to make my own.

But why not Shalelu x Casimir?

I could see that working, issue is Shalelu has Romance rules and Casimir doesn't seem to be built towards Diplomacy, which means no Elf butt for him.

Didn't realize the big single shotfag and the armored gunfag were the same anon.

Also completely forgot Savage Technologist was a thing. It gets the job done better unless anon wanted to go full dexfag, which would be better served as TF 3/URogue 3/TF 1+ for Dex to both light shield and gun with a big brace of feats to play with.

PoW does make more options work, but it's a shame the best option is still "run up on a nigga and full attack". Martial Charge was a mistake.
