I don't see any of them screeching and/or whining about how GW hates them and how they'll never get any updates and how werewolves should totally be a Death faction.

Anyone got tips on what to do with this thing? I got it in subassembly to paint but I'm worried about transporting it. I'm considering attaching the carriers to the base and leaving the body separate but the totem will still be tall then. Magnetising isn't an option due to the top-heaviness.

You just think AoS players will start trying to put together custom skyships for their factions after the Kharadron hit? I could definitely see GW capitalising on it with it's own spin-off game.

Kind of wish the Marienburg Landship was still being sold, would make for a great Freeguild ship.
>>
>>52732640
Flayers are crap, would be a better list if you cut the fat and used them all to stand in for Vargheist.
>>
>>52733319
Related to that, I left my idea of a 1000 pts nurgle army as they would just get rekt (still planning to do them but for 2000 so I can take more tarpit and something close to a heavy hitter), on a "budget" with the start collecting malignants, one spirit host for battleline and a mournghoul. Thing is that I would be left with 200 pts and no general so I thought bringing the mortis as a "mage" and range but it would break the nighthaunt alliance I think.
I'm doomed to use other things (a banshee?) or people (and gw personal) would be ok with me bringing it? I know that it depends and I know that against my friends they would be perfectly ok with that, but playing against the same people gets tiring and I would like to participate in the gw shop battles.
I suppose that for a tournament/league it wouldn't be ok as it attracts more tards and autists and rules are enforced more strictly but what the fuck were geedubs thinking when they did the malignant line?

Aether-gold appears to be a form of warp/wyrdstone so... MINING BATTLE?
>>
>>52733656
Proxy it as a Black Coach? Then at least you're using the model.

Quick list:
Allegiance: Death

Leaders
>Black Coach (120)
>Tomb Banshee (80)
- General
- Trait: Master of the Black Arts
- Artefact: Sword of Unholy Power

Battleline
>3 x Spirit Hosts (120)
- Nighthaunt Battleline
>3 x Spirit Hosts (120)
- Nighthaunt Battleline

Behemoths
>Mourngul (400)

Total: 840/2000

Use the Sword of Unholy Arts to summon Hexwraiths/start with the wraiths on the board and summon Mournghoul.

Coach synergizes with the banshee now as Dark Arts makes her a Wizard, so you can get easy Arcane Bolts/mystic shield to make you spirit hosts infuriatingly hard to kill.
>>
>>52734382

Grundstok Thunderers are basically this. Royal Marines, best shots in the fleet, trained at private academies, then hire themselves out as a mercenary contingent to all other departing fleets, to deal with 'savages and barbarians' while the rest is trying to mine.
>>
>>52734025

I thought about this one too that's a mix of both more or less:

Allegiance: Death

Leader
>Tomb Banshee (80)
- General

Battleline
>3 x Spirit Hosts (120)
- Nighthaunt Battleline
>3 x Spirit Hosts (120)
- Nighthaunt Battleline
>3 x Spirit Hosts (120)
- Nighthaunt Battleline
>5 x Hexwraiths
- Cavalry

Behemoths
>Mourngul (400)

Total: 1000/1000

Thoughts?

Then when they release new skellies and spooks I will use this as a complement to a death army of combined spoopy arms
>>
>>52734598
Neat idea.
Superb execution.
>>
Allegiance: Order

Leaders
Sorceress (80)
- General
- Trait: Legendary Fighter
- Artefact: Obstinate Blade
Sorceress (80)
- Artefact: Phoenix Stone

Battleline
20 x Darkshards (200)
10 x Darkshards (100)
10 x Dreadspears (80)

Units
10 x Black Guard (180)
10 x Executioners (200)

Battalions
Thrall Warhost (80)

Total: 1000/1000

No its for Aos 28
Inq28 meets Age of Sigmar
Inq28 explores the lesser known aspects of the Warhammer 40,000 universe and has been a huge success, inspiring Blanchitsu articles, numerous blogs and countless incredible miniatures. Inq28 has become a term that describes not just a particular game but a whole approach to the hobby: an approach that puts creativity and imagination first.
AoS28 is an attempt to bring that same approach to the Nine Realms.
The Age of Sigmar has the potential for all sorts of stories, and just because we mainly see the epic, cinematic god-battles in the Games Workshop books doesn’t mean there aren’t other stories just out of frame, or just off the beaten path. That’s not to say your warband can’t include a few heroes, just that not every hero has to have a duel with Archaon.
What makes a model AoS28?
Conversions - The Age of Sigmar range contains loads of great miniatures but you’ll probably want to convert them in order to personalise them. This could be a kitbash or a complete resculpt. The important thing is to make the model yours.
Character is essential - you don’t have to write a full background story, but you’ll have to think about your character’s personality, they aren’t just pieces on a gaming board: what are their motivations? How have they survived the Chaos apocalypse? What do they think about the return of Sigmar? What secrets do they have?
Extra grimdark - Age of Sigmar has a distinctive, vibrant style, but there is a lot of darkness that is waiting to be explored. You think 40k has a monopoly on grimdark? The Nine Realms were conquered by Chaos, we are only just beginning to learn about the horrors that were unleashed.

Allegiance: Death

Leaders
Wight King with Baleful Tomb Blade (120)
- General
- Trait: Ruler of the Night
Wight King with Black Axe (120)
- Artefact: Something, probably tomb blade, or cloak of mists and shadows for movement
Necromancer (120)

Battleline

- Ancient Spear & Shield
20 x Skeleton Warriors (160)

Looks pretty good, I'd use the unholy sword and keep one unit in reserve to throw down as a tarpit/objective capper. This is a very fast list and should be played to its strengths, abuse retreats (since you're flying you can really do a lot with them) and play the map rather than getting bogged down - use your hosts to hold nasty units in place for the Mournghoul rape train.

Can't speak for lahmian but I guess it works the same as vallejos glaze and matt/satin/gloss medium. Note that glaze and matt medium aren't the same, glaze medium makes paints more transparent, flow much more and slows drying time which makes it perfect to blend shadows or details kinda like a wash and the matt medium just thins it a bit without loosing coherence (fancy water you could call it).
Right now working on some bk as the minis are awesome before starting the nighthaunt army, the horns and skin of the lord of plagues and the bk too are done with glazes and matt medium. It really helps things to blend but that also depends of how much time you want to work on them, painting approaches, etc. Can't hurt to try, and at worst you can use it to thin down inks/citadel glazes or use it to create custom inks/washes.
I must say that in minis I'm no expert ant what you see it's my level, if we where talking about scale modeling 1/35 armor then I can show off a bit more. Sry for the meh pic

They use the exact same daemons across all 3 settings, tyranids really aren't that much of a stretch to have in AoS. It would be better if they made them more like Deep ones or corrupted lizardmen.
fluffwise they could be biological lizardmen who made it into the mortal realms with all of their beasts and spawning pools but no slann. Maybe some sort of trapped godbeast or something like the great maw adopted them and now uses them as extensions of its will to feast upon the creatures of the realms.

Haha, freeguild are not useless chaff like guardsmen.

Lorewise they are well trained and relied upon to build Sigmar's empire. In city of secrets, the new novel, the freeguild are center stage.

Rules wise, you would be hard-pressed to find a better ranged choice than a block of freeguild handgunners. They slaughter units. Freeguild swordsmen are an incredible anvil.

Normal human infantry is still very good in this game.
>>
>>52739110
They are the smallest of the six biggest, there's litterally dozens if not hundreds of skyports (well, hundreds is unlikely) beneath them, many of which will be progressive pampered brats.
>>
>>52740501
Ehh. Compare 20 Handgunners vs 20 Thunderers. For 40 points more, Thunderers have better Bravery, better and rerollable Saves, better melee, can ignore magic on a 5+, and pretty much the same shooting profile. Compare to 10 Irondrakes, for only 20 points more than 20 Handgunners, and they have even better saves that ignore Rend of -1(though no reroll), better melee, even better Bravery, and again the same shooting if they don't move, plus the 5+ magic ignore. Smaller unit means those you DO lose have a bigger impact though.

Granted, the stand-and-shoot that Handgunners get is pretty awesome so there's that. Basically all of the units are good in different ways and it depends what you're going for I think.

>>
>>52740951
Not really. 10 or 20 wounds with bravery 10 are much more hard to shift than they appear. They still need dedicated strenght to remove.
>>
>>52740901
Handgunners get up to +2/+2 with a general and state troop detachment. This makes them land about 50% more shots per model compared to Thunderers at +3/+3.
>>
>>52741101
Can you name one unit that will fail to remove them?
>>
>>52741661
And with a general and a runelord Thunderers are 3+/2+/-2/1 and can still move, and still have betters saves, bravery, and melee, and don't need to be wedged into a battalion. The second Gunners have to move or take any casualties they're down to 3+/2+ or 4+/2+.

I really think it just depends on what army you personally prefer to run.

>>
>>52740901

Handgunners go from okay but not spectacular to horrendously skewy because of the free guild general and their detachment, not because of their base stats.

If you don't take either of those, I don't mind a 40 man unit of handgunners on the table.
>>
>>52735218
I think the original post was referring to the infamous ghost ship, "The flying Dutchman"
>>
>>52742329

not saying that dwarves dont have great shooting but I'm not really sure I would pay 20 points extra per 10 for a rerollable 5+ save and slightly-less-but-still-bad melee attack if all other things were equal, especially when it trades out stand and shoot.

Of course they're dwarves and are awesome because of that, I think they just don't get the same exposure since every empire player had a ton of handgunners but most dwarf players didn't really skew thunderers.

I know. It's obviously inspired by the Pirate Code from Pirates of the Carribeans, but when you flesh it out, and put it in the context of warhammer and dwarfs, it gets to a whole level of awesome. It's a pretty brilliant way to set it apart from other dwarfs. No. They don't. They are masks so they cover everything, however each and every one is custom and is their way of expression. Dwarfs don't Mass produce anything, it's all about carefully crafted custom work. So each ship is unique, each weapon hand crafted, and all that.

Hey guys, starting seraphon and looking at ripperdactyls. They have the ability

Voracious Appetite: Each time a model from this unit attacks with its ViciousBeak and scores a hit, immediately make another hit roll against the same target. Carry on until a hit roll does not score a hit, then make any woundrolls.

But in matched play there is the rule of 1 where you can not generate hits off of generated hits. So do I follow the battletome rule or the rule of 1?

How are you confused?
>>
>>52747799
Because he's retarded, and we keep spoon-feeding people like him.
>>
what is the point of specifically writing abilities to generate attacks off of generated attacks

then make another rule that nullifies it?

I also thought that armybook rules always took precedence over BRB rules
>>
>>52747829
Because those rules only work in Matched Play, not Open or Narrative. On top of that, you still get extra attacks from the first set of succesful hits, just no more after that, so it's not like the rule doesn't work. Nowhere in AOS does it say that armybook overrides rulebook (especially considering the General's Handbook is not technically the rulebook) and it was specifically implemented to stop cunts like you doing this exact thing and getting potentially infinite attacks.
>>
>>52747861

>>
>>52747883
Except GW themselves, who I think still don't understand that people only care about Matched. You only have to look at the various summoning abilities in the Tzeentch battletome for that. They're going to keep writing rules that are applicable for all three modes and then let the Matched Play restrictions sort it out, despite the fact that Narrative is useless and Open is dumpster-fire.
>>
>20 tzeentch dudes
>same price as
>10 dwarfs
What did GW mean by this?
>>
>>52747743
If anything they're actually a little bulkier than the skellies. Hmm, they're pretty cheap at £15 for 10 as well, I'll wait and see the results of the Skeleton repack before going for it though.
>>
>>52745672
I have a terrible OCD when it comes to mixing minis of different manufacturers. Don't get me wrong, those are awesome minis, but next to state troops they don't fit in. Same with the heads >>52745731 suggests. I use them form my Fempestus Scions. Works well on their own but next to other minis it is pretty obvious the heads don't fit with heads from guard or normal Scions.

Besides, while I don't mind boob plate, there is something cool about chicks wearing 'normal' armour.
>>
>>52746009
So... let's talk about Dreadfleet and why that is a lesson GW learned about doing stuff like thata gain.
>>
>>52748162
What lesson, you fool? The only lesson here is about slow game design. The visual component was genius.
>>
>>52747829
Because Matched Play is meant to be competitive.

The rule of 1 stop the most broken/stupid stuff.

In open and narrative there is suppose to be a mutual deal between players not to abuse the rules, because that's the thing with Narrative and Open play.

In matched play there isn't such thing, so you need extra rules.
Otherwise tournaments will be full of rerollable attacks generating attacks, magic spam and 1+ saves.

Can you stop being such a retard now?
>>
>>52747946

If there's any reinforcement rule that needs a rework it's pic related.
>>
>>52748309
I tried to play Open or Narrative lots of times. The lesson I learned? The majority of people are faggots for which "Open Play" just means "OH BOY I DON'T HAVE RESTRICTIONS TIME TO GO MAXIMUM OVERFAGGOT HERE WE GO" and then you have a fluffy Bloodbound army going against a Seraphon army that every turn summon more models than the entire BB army while rippers generate infinite attacks and Saurus Guards have a 1+ unrendable save.
>>
>>52748309
Open play can work with the right people, or atleast with the right mindset. If someone is new and has a box of guys and a hero...

>sure let's do some open play!
>I'll get some of my guys and a hero that are about your guys strength (maybe a little less) and we'll think of a cool scenario.
>Why don't you think of a name for your General while I set up terrain?

Never had a newbie who didn't enjoy a game like this. The narrative component helps people to get into it. Other reason to play open is when you just want to get crazy with terrain rules like sieges and just end up plopping down everything you got.

But if you want a 1 on 1 that is halfways balanced you will not get around points. Also, I have a hard time believing anyone wants old summoning rules back.

If you want to mix, you need plaguebearers. Don't know how fun it is as I only played a bit of nurgle demons and rotbringers in 1000pts and pretty much got sniped turn two and finished in an onslaught of mortal wounds. Against order armies you won't stand a chance unless you go to higher points and can bring more tarpit and big monsters to dish out something close to damage. Probably with the rats and their stuff the experience will be different, but as they don't please me aesthetically or fluff wise fuck the rats, I will wait to the eventual nurgle BT. You should try it anyway with proxy units and see if it fits you tho
