The first wave of a tyranid invasion is spores and flying creatures, it says it right there in the codex. FMC spam with spore troops is fluffy. So sayeth Cruddace.

Every time a guard player gets tabled by flyrants that is the will of cruddace.

Swarms of warriors don't exist, they cost a minimum of 90 points per brood, they straight up can't be fielded in numbers.

Lore Question:

do necrons lose a little of their personality every time they are reincarnated/rebuilt.

I realize some necrons didn't have much personality left after the initial transfer to metal body but I could have sworn they lost a little more of their will/personality every time they were re-forged.

Third attempt.

Im planning on starting a Death Korps of Krieg army, playing them as normal IG, thinking of having a few Basilisks while the rest of the Infantry holding positions.

Now here's the thing: Is IG viable? I mean, im not playing only to win, but i'd really like not to be the guy with the army who always gets wrecked in every game by Necron/Tau/Eldar/Anything. I want to have a chance.
>>

I use both names. Though I'll only use Tempestus/Scions about as often as I use Astartes.

I like to think the grunts use storm trooper, while the more educated/ancient organizations use the elaborate names. Space marines are the sorts of characters that sound better in my mind when booming a bunch of faux-latin.

4 Enginseers attached to 3 Servitors with an Atlas Recovery tank for 8 2+ repair rolls (half I can split to whatever the Atlas touches) with re-rolls for 275 points.

So let's timeskip ahead an arbitrary amount of time. Old sprues have been updated (CSM, IG, so on) and everything is in tip-top condition for the introduction of a new race or faction into the world of 40K. What would make sense to bring to the table? Some named races:
Rak'Gol - Demiurg and Squats - Cryptos - Enslavers - Hrud - Tarellians - K'nib - Khrave - Galgs - Slaugth - Cell-Kin - Zoats - Lacrymole - Umbra - Yu'Vath - Gykon - Nephilim - Saruthi -

Let me hear your wishes.

So, just played 2K with my Tau vs Black Templars. Lost due to friend getting lucky objective cards late game but man did I do some damage. Outflank is stupidly underrated, I had almost complete board control with stealthsuits. shit was fun as fuck.

Also another dumbass move of mine is to have the Fireblade on the front of the squad. My love for heroic leadership and posing kinda cost me a lot of extra firepower. Was awesome though, overwatch with him decimated an assault squad.

This question's out to any Tau player with more experience than me. How hard does a Firebase Support cadre with interceptor cuck flyers/droppods/raiders and the like? I have sort of an allcomers list I've been building for a while now, since I don't want to list tailor for games, but one of the main people I play against is a Deldar player with lots of boats and a flyer or two. If I take this, am I going to make his games unfun? 1850 with no anti-air/deeptrike counter measures seems like it could be big problem

It was Thousand sons.

He had sorcerers with 3+ invulnerable saves that can reroll 1s in a rubric squad and he said if he cast a blessing on himself he could increase it by one so he just cast endurance on himself every psychic phase.

The funny thing is, he challenged out my nob and took one wound off him with his force staff, thinking he killed him only for me to tell him my squad leaders have two wounds.
He gave me this massive look of disgust when I told him that and asked me how much I pay for them...

-The Spear of Khaine was a ruse by Chaos in order to attract people to the planet and have them fight over the relic.
-The Planet is a huge planetiod covered with ice and rock but within it is a ANOTHER planet in the shape of a labyrinth made of blackstone that for some reason make the Eldar freak out
The planet is in fact a cage for a powerful daemonic entity created a mysterious beings long ago
-The daemon requires blood and carnage to free itself from the cage. The three forces give it enough blood to break free
-You know the trailer where corpses rain all over the battlefield? It's a Warp metaphor for the daemon feeding on death and souls of all who died on the planet
-Angelos, Macha, and Gotgutz make a loose alliance to defeat the daemon. They blow up the planet before the daemon can get enough power to restore itself, causing it to weaken.
-BOSS BATTLE. Gotgutz, Macha,
and Angelos fight the super daemon as one.
They defeat the daemon and banish it to the Warp and then go their separate ways. Gorgutz takes the pointy end of the Spear of Khaine as a trophy before leaving

-The planet was utterly destroyed except for its b;lack core that kept on hur;ling in space

-Somewhere else, the deathless and eternal masters of the world looked on with "cold fury"as their World Cage was destroyed and their prisoner was set free. They vowed revenge on the lesser races that brought ruin to their works and ancient designs. Can you guess who they are?

That's illegal as far as I know. 3++ is from Sigil (4++) and a Mark of Tzeentch (+1) but it states the MoT can only give you up to 3++. As soon as it gets better, it "turns off" so to speak, so it's still 3++ max as the blessing detachment bonus kicks back in.

Also this guy seems to give us TS players a bad name. The fuck is he seriously being a bitch about Orks for?
>>
>>52720738
That doesn't work. Mark of Tzeentch can't take a save past a 3++, so the only way to get down to a 2++ is to cast Electroshield or stack multiple invuln buffs (like Sanctuary from Sanctic).

The reroll one's thing is highly restrictive in terms of what you can take. Did he have 3x Rubricae squads and 3x Terminator squads?

Depends on how your pal deploys his Deldar. Your friend is going to have to try really hard for his positioning, because physical line of sight blocking is realistically the only defense against Tau for Deldar.

I don't remember if the Firebase Support Cadre can get ignore cover, but even without it, I don't think the flyer will live long because those are also AV10, and even with a 3+ jink, it won't survive long.

I suppose your Deldar friend could null deploy and attempt to deepstrike his entire force in your lines, but that's extremely risky due to Interceptor.

What's some good psychic disciplines to roll on for Death Guard? I want to use a lot of psykers. The new Nurgle one from Traitor Legions is very solid, but it'd be nice to roll on something else if i roll a good Nurgle one on the first roll.
Could just go all out on the Nurgle table though. Speaking of which, the one that gives or improves Poison states that you get a 2+ poison if you already had any poison before. Due to how that's worded, it'd seem that if you cast it at Spawn and they then rolled poison on their random bonus in the fighting phase they would not benefit from it, correct? If so that's too bad, as my spawn are likely the only unit to be effective in close combat.
>>
Considering that TSons army lists devour points harder than any pure Termie army ever could dream of, what's the best way to field the efficiently? What're the best units one can deploy in order to get the most out of the detachments, psychic abilities, etc.?
>>
>>52721050
Biomancy is good on anybody that will be going into CC (one decent Witchfire, two good self-buffs, one great unit buff, one great malediction). Heretech is good for anti-vehicle, Telepathy is always nice to fish for Invisibility/Shrouding due to the excellent Primaris as a fallback.
>>
>>52721050
Though it does state "Any models that already had the Poisoned special rule on their Melee weapons or attacks instead have the Poisoned (2+) special rule whilst this power is in effect."
Now, they didn't "have" the poison while the power was cast, but they can get it while it is in effect. Thoughts on that?
>>
>>52721089
Magnus and three Princes stapled onto some daemons.

Ahriman and three Exalteds stapled onto some daemons.

Unfortunately, Scarab Occult and Rubric Marines do fuck-all for their point cost and don't really serve any purpose that other Chaos lists will need filled.
>>
>>52721050
>my spawn are likely the only unit to be effective in close combat.
Don't underestimate plague knives.
>>
>>52720998

Not a plot hole. That got retconned in recent books, especially one of the gathering storm books. The Necrons and Old Ones both were caging daemons during the war in heaven.
>>
>>52721090
Biomancy could be good, but the unit buff doesn't give much on DG. You do gain EW and 4+ fnp, but you already had 5+ fnp and relentless, and EW will only be helpful in specific situations and only for any HQ characters. Though I just realized my spawn don't get fnp as they don't have veterans.
Enfeeble however is really nice, due to having more powers like that in Nurgle. Could put enemies at very low T.
I probably won't do telepathy though, Invisibility is too absurd, it'd feel like cheating, especially on something as tough as DG marines.
>>

Won't run Plague Marines. Sadly they can't be taken in a Warband, and their own core formation is a bit too boring. Also you pay a lot for very little with them, as DG turns normal marines into PMs without plague knives and blight grenades pretty much. So I basically see my standard marines as Plaguemarines.
>>
>>52721203
Wasn't it that Khorne was born from the Crusades, Nurgle was born during the Black Plague and Tzeentch was born during the Renaissance or something?
>>
>>52721089
TSons detachment is bloody great. thing is you need to ask yourself what kind of army you'd like. If you play pure TSons (no daemons) you will be an elite army at a solid middle-tier. Depending on your spells generate, you may even be considered high-end middle. But if you for daemons, you will be unstoppable cheese... but you won't be Thousand Sons. TSons are in the aesthetic and style, and a big part of that are Rubrics and Scarab Occult. You can't play the legion without the fucking legion, afterall.

If you go daemons, then >>52721119 is right. If you want to play TS, I'd recommend a War Cabal for starters. 1 or 2 Rubric squads, 1 scarab occult and regular sorcerers. ML3 is efficient, Spell familiars are mandatory, Discs of Tzeentch are god-like as they give you +1T, amazing movement and 24" turbo-boost after the psychic phase.

If you don't use that turbo-boost, you can instead run around with retinues of spawn. they'll help you soak the damage, but each one is like 34 points. A fully tricked out Sorc is 170, so it becomes a personal choice. I don't use them, I play them very aggressively on boards with plenty of terrain and have good results.

have a sort of distraction or two. I have 2 maulerfiends smash into the enemy frontlines and they raise sufficient panic (as well as tear through any vehicles)
>>
>>52721196

Then psykers for buffs and maledictions, and a unit of spawn to draw fire early on or maybe get to assault something early on.

Questions on psyker-heavy lists:
How much anti-psyker stuff is there out there at the moment? Heard sisters of silence are good and cheap anti-psyker, and when they were released for 40k it looked like everyone was gonna get some for their imperial armies.
How about non-imperial stuff? Haven't looked into stuff like eldar. Is it a good idea to base your army around buffs and maledictions, or will much of it be negated?

Anti-psyker stuff is kinda limited.
Mostly just SoS and Culexus, which i dont see brought all that often.

Poked in the face with a measuring rod by a sore loser, nearly lost an eye.

Local guy got lead poisoning, from neglecting safety while recasting. Complete with violent puking and couple days hospital stay.
>>
>>52722216
Allright, that's good. And just looked at the rules for SoS, they don't seem as scary as I've heard them described. With the penalties to friendly psykers I guess most people using them won't focus on psykers themselves, giving me superiority in WCs, and while they're scary within 12'' they seem squishy enough to be killed off by a turn of rapidfire bolters.

I think I'll be running 3 chaos sorcerers at ML3 with spell familiars. What's the general tactic on spending charges to maximise success while minimizing perils? Haven't played this edition yet (and might not even play it at all depending on when 8th hits).
>>
>>52719698
I think it'll be very nice when its finished but that guy has some cajones fielding an unfinished, unbased wraithknight. If I'm gonna get cheesed to death it's gotta be beautiful.
>>
>>52722344
I usually think of Seeker Missiles as more of an upgrade for your Markerlight squads, rather than the actual platforms. Since you need markerlights to fire them at their best, and they can be fired pretty independently of whatever else the vehicle is doing, they work more closely to single-use missiles for a Pathfinder squad to take out heavier targets with.
>>
>>52722397
They're allright due to being cheap and AP2/flamers, but yeah that's about it.
Culexus does their job better, and you haven't heard those shaking up psykers for years.

As for avoiding perils, Spell familiars are pretty fucking good. Besides that, spend just enough dice that you should statistically succeed in casting, no more than that.
>>
>>52722358
A CAD should work. So the sorc and 2 troops. Not very expensive with cultists. The sorc doesn't need the large Word Bearer formation bonuses as the 3+ summoning is for any detachment. My idea would be to put the sorc in a large cultist blob, either cheap or with MoN and palanquin for +2W, ML3+spellfamiliar, and the book that gives +1 daemonology power if you're looking to summon several units per turn, primaris + plague drones or the herald one should be nice. Herald summon is 1WC, you could cast it with one charge to not take perils and still get it off at 3+ with reroll from familiar, and take wounds from cheap cultists.
>>52722322

I'd call it decently non-WAAC. Single riptide is fine at those points. I've heard minor complaints about the Drone net, but you're also bringing breachers, so I don't think it's too bad.
>>
>>52722708
I'll have a lot of bodies, so should be easy to spread the psykers out, and being DG makes anything a good bodyguard. Ideally I'd want to run all of my marines in the list (got 30 mkiv that I'm slowly sculpting at, and 30mkiii for havocs) but that would be a lot of points and it'd take me 2 years to finish with how much extra detail I feel forced to sculpt because I've already started them like that.
Might put one or two on bikes. I know /tg/s view on DG bikes from some recent threads, but I still need a fast attack unit and some spawn for a legal list, so might as well put some characters in there as well.
>>
>>52722793

>Really trying to not be a part of the unpainted Tau meme, but painting is probably my least favorite part of the hobby
My pain exactly. I sometimes even pre-emptively apologize when I show them to people. I'm picking up steam though, got roughly 50% of mine done. there's only so many same-y Fire Warriors I can paint before I want to strangle somebody.
>>
>>52722691

Sorcerers are very modular. You can leave them stock and stick them in a Rhino squad, kit them out and stick them in a Terminator squad, whatever. Conventional (WAACfag) wisdom says bike, spell familiar, ML3.

Death Guard characters - you'll want to give your beatsticks invulns at least. DG Terminator Lords are nigh-unkillable with non-AP2 weapons. Powerfists are exceptionally good on your characters due to FNP and toughness boosts.
>>
>>52722775
Then I respect you, and will play you. Haven't played much lately, but the only armies I've ever denied a game against have been unpainted ones, as they somehow always also seem to include extremely over-optimized "WAAC" lists. What a strange coincidence that is.
>>
>>52722816
It's mostly fine. Honestly JSJ will always be unfun to play against, but at least without fnp the riptide might actually die, and give your opponent one less thing to bitch about.
>>
>>52722841
You don't have to be an amazing painter, just show that you care enough about the hobby to at least try.

Some unpainted models are fine, so long as your army at least shows progress.

It's only when I see 1850 points of tau either completely grey or with just primer that I get annoyed.

Yes. Markerllights can help them to ignore LoS and allow the vehicle to fire more weapons at full BS than normally, but the seeker missiles must be fired to same target as the other weapons and the vehicle is still doing the shooting.

You can call in extra missiles with that one formation, infiltration cadre. Whenever a unit in it gets 3 or more markerlight hits you also hit with single seeker missile.

Oh I definitely do care. Nowadays I always try to convert special characters. All my 4 HQs are custom. I have to paint them to a decent/good tabletop standard to satiate my OCD too.

Today half my army was painted, some was primed black, some were proxies/empty bases but measured from what their height would be. If there was doubt, I mostly let my opponent take a shot anyway for fairness. I'm still converting some of my stuff, that's why.

Allright. I like the idea of DG termies, as DG finally makes terminators quite okay for their cost other than termiciding. And I'd also like to get some use out of my 10 termis from the 30k boxes, as they look pretty fun to build, sculpt and paint. Question is, Deepstrike or footslog them with the rest of the horde with maybe a reaper autocannon? Was looking at the terminator formation first, but realized that it was a bit too much of a point investment while I'd still need an elite slot for the warband.

Unsure about what to do with the bikesquad. Either a small one with meltas just to fill the formation requirement, or 5 with sorc+lord (for a unit of nurgly 7) to advance before the footsloggers, but seems like a big firemagnet.
Also want a Daemon Weapon or cool artifact on my Lord, as that's how Lords should roll, but cant decide between black mace or the DG poisoned ap3 daemon weapon.
Sorry for walls of text, just have a lot of things I can't decide on yet.

Well, I already owned Magnus and the Tsons because I got caught up in the hype about the first returning primarch to 40k. After that me and my friends made bets about who's gonna be the next traitor primarch, and I thought Perturabo has been gone a while, and Iron Warriors were actually my favourite traitor legion, with Tsons coming in second, so I threw my lot in with perty. Now Mortarion's coming back, so i seem to have lost the bet to my Nurgle playing friend, but I'm still holding out hope for perturabo, and the inspiration for the warband is there anyway. Besides, there's a whole discipline devoted to machines, figured it'd at least have that much synergy.
>>
>>52723069
Oh indeed. And don't forget +1 to cover and fnp. But unsure if they'll survive long enough to deliver a Lord into cc while the rest of the army is footslogging it. Got the spawn to join in the frontline as well.

Sounds reasonable. Sadly I don't think we'll see him very soon. It'll probably be the god-specific ones first, then if we're lucky some undivideds. But at that point I'd hope to see Lorgar first of all, as he's the one that represents Chaos as a whole the most. Not that they'd ever do anything nice for Word Bearers, they didn't even get Fearless even though they're religious zealots...

>>
>>52723140
To be fair, Iron Warriors are really bloody good at anti-tank for cheap. For 195 points you can get 3 Hades Autocannon rapier batteries in a single slot. That will fucking mulch so many things its insane (though granted, that's not IW specific but still). Oblit troops get tank hunters, so there's that. MASU havocs with autocannons do benefit from IW rules, so you can have a solid firebase for pretty cheap and then splurge on sorcerers with 2 MSU tzaangors to keep it cheap, or rubrics for some anti-infantry.
>>
>>52723242

A dogs of war style codex that adds in one or two units to represent each race, perhaps something like Codex: Xenos Mercenaries.
Would be battle brothers with tau, and be able to ally with just about everyone but nids/cron.
>>
>>52723242
Indeed, IW havocs are great for antitank. Autocannons, missile launchers or maybe even lascannons with tankhunters is pretty nice. Just remember to max out the squad if you get expensive weapons, so you won't lose lascannons as soon as they start taking damage. I assume they (or the tsons) would be limited to a CAD though, going two full legion formations would leave very little points to spend on upgrades.
>>
>>52723316
I would say Battle Brothers with Tau and Dark Eldar, including some of the units that can make up an Archon's bodyguard or a beastmaster's squad.

Have those be allies of convenience with most everyone else. Stick it as Desprate with Crons and CTA with Tyranids.

I never fought them but aren't they essentially super-terminators (T5 2+/5++ 2W) with eternal warrior?

The Eternal Warrior makes it tricky, but stuff that allows no saves is always nice. Plenty of spells in the disciplines ignore toughness as well, like Psychic Shriek. baleful Devolution can help too, Rockmaw (geomortis primaris) ignores armour saves too.

I can mostly speak for Ts as I haven't fielded Iron Warriors much so I don't know any specific counters, but generally anything that ignores their armour will make it much easier to knock them off the board.

Oh, I also did sort of make some lore for them as a sort of alliance of synergy, some Tzeentchian Tsons with a flair for machine magic and some Iron Warriors that bitterly hated flesh, as a concept. So their mutual contacts in the Dark Mechanicus put them in contact with each other, and they eventually came to a mutual agreement that the way to both conquer the galaxy and to forever rid the universe of what they perceive as the great enemy of intellect, which is flesh, or more specifically, being trapped in a fragile form, was to ally.

going vertical is something that you can decide with the other player, but basically if it makes sense that a model can climb it, then they can go over. vertical distance is counted during movement, so lets say the wreck is 2 inches high and 2 inches wide, going over it would be exactly 6 inches

I recently played against Custodes as well. Even with my cheesetastic OSC and other Tau bullshit it was a close game.

>>
>>52723298
Sounds good. So maybe skip special weapons (or just go flamers) and just focus on getting into melee right away then? Could be good. Use sorc before charging to buff S/T by one, or the poison power (4+ poison to all, and lord gets 2+ poison if he has the poisoned Daemon Weapon), or debuff the enemy (gift of contagion for 1 WC seems amazing if you're gonna charge and therefore don't care if you give the enemy shrouded). 3+ jink is pretty nice.

I think this is what happens to all of us when we pass our teens.
I've usually done 40k in periods, anytime something new I like (aka CSM) got released I got back into it, did a small army, played a few games, then lost interest. Last time was when the current codex was released, bought the starter set and converted everything in it to chaos. Then played like 3 games.
Now I got back in when I found out about Traitor Legions. But now I have the opposite problem than I had in the past, back then I was poor as shit and couldnt buy much, but had a lot of time for scratch-sculpting and converting. Now I have more money than I spend (save half or more of monthly wage even after food, bills and rent for living alone in a three-roomer) but have no time for hobbies. And when I do I just drink or waste time in other ways. Bought both 30k sets, new sculpting supplies and shitloads of paint back in like jan-feb, and have still done very little. Don't even have a proper list.

All I need is to update pointscosts to the level of current similar armies and add some more fun wargear. Only two Daemon Weapons (one being god-specific) was a letdown last time for example.
I kind of like where we're at now though, so I hope they just don't change anything for the worse.

I think we might see minimal changes. Maybe a price drop for VotLW across the board to account for the fact that it's pretty much free for anyone with a Legion anyway, and some reworkings and point-changes to fit with whatever the new rules are.

I don't think they would have to change the Traitor Legion book too much, though they might fold in the basic benefits as a Chapter-tactics style thing, and then have the relics and formations in a separate Angels of Death style Re-release.

Easiest way?
Daemon of tzeentch gives them a 5++ rerolling ones.
Take the impossible robe for a 3++, basically a tzeentch storm shield.

Then pick any of the following to increase it by 1
-cast cursed earth from daemonology
-tzeentch warlord trait for every daemons of tzeentch with 12"
-result of the warp storm table (roll 2d6 at the start of the shooting phase and get a random result, some good some bad, mostly good)
-have another character take the book of true names artifact and use it on them, roll a 3+ to increase their save by 2

Other god daemons can reach this too but they don't have the inherent rerolling 1s, Tzeentch artifacts or warlord traits so they have to buy a roll on the greater gift table and roll a 3 for dark blessing which allows them to reroll failed invulnerable saves.
>>
>>52724152
>>52724132
Or take an allied detachment.

Bloodthirsters are pretty nasty and can buy strength D at initiative/have strength D super unweildly if you have the supplement but a well equipped thirster ends up costing around 300 points so it may be better to summon them with KDK.

Probably. I know very little about standard SM, never had a single SM codex (been with my CSM since the beginning), but killteams are usually limited to some basic stuff to have bodies on the table, and a single specialist unit. Unless you're gonna cheese!

I too started a necron army back in the day, and never got anything done. Think I have like over 50 unassembled warriors somewhere, as I bought two battleforces at half price back when they included almost only warriors.
Tried again when they got their new dex (the one that gave them actual choices and shit, and the whole egyptian theme), but didn't get far. Motivation is hard my dude.

The Exorcists are pretty much a pocket chapter of the Ordo Malleus and are Grey Knights MK 2, except with these guys they have to be possessed by a Daemon and cast it out through strength of will as part of their training. The resulting marine's soul is stained by the Warp yet they are incorrigible. I can't remember the specifics, but an Exorcist is either completely ignored by the warp (their blackened soul no longer appears within it as discernible compared to background noise) or it actively recoils from it.

>>52724229
No. Orks are weird fungal life-forms that have a subtle psychic field that bends reality to suit their beliefs. Over time, an Ork is only likely to grow larger and stronger, because other Orks see him as a tough guy who's been through a lot of fights and lived. They aren't your typical humanoid lifeforms.
>>
>>52724265
Thanks. I just really liked the image of an old wrinkly grey haired ork still smashing faces.
>>
>>52724308
Well, you might get an Ork that specifically gets his hair grey, because it makes him look more Cunnin' like those human generals, but he'll still be in a physical prime.

While Codex: Flesh Hounds is excellent for the fearless, I've had equal success running the warzone fenris murderhorde with 8x5 units of flesh hounds w/herald on a juggernaut. You get rerolls on instability for the LD issue, but will be getting nearly double the potency if you maximize the use of a locus, formation benefits, and relics available to you from the WF book. Easy to just plug a bloodthirster into the detachement as well which can rewards, improved relics, and an access to an improved warlord trait table - three things KDK lacks

Fuckin hell lads, my store is hell on Earth.

I went down today for my first few 40k games with people who weren't just in my standard group. (I play other systems there)

The guys who were chill had lists that were tabling people in 1 turn, fucking great guys to talk to but holy shit the games weren't even worth playing.

The others were either your standard shy nerd stereotype who couldn't hold a real conversation so the games just felt awkward.

Then the fucking worst part, I asked a guy for a game, he was pretty alright, had a nice chat and all that rubbish. I got a decent first turn in but the game was nowhere near over. The guy starts making all his fucking rolls behind cover and blatantly rerolling shit right infront of me, "I'm gonna shoot those infiltrators"
"Ok Sure, they're T3 and you're at -1 WS from their aura"
The guy rolls the dice, lands maybe 1/4 of his hits and then fucking picks them up and looks at me.
"I'm gonna shoot those infiltrators"

I let him have it and just ended the game at the end of the phase, told him he won from first blood or some shit even though we were tied and the guy just lit up, all excited.

It's not worth playing people like that. I came to chill and have a chat with people while rolling some dice and everything went to shit. The best match I played was against a guy from my standard group and the best outside of that was a guy who'd literally never played a 40k game before.

I want to fucking die anons, these are the people I have to play games with. At least I enjoy painting more I guess.
>>
>>52724229
Not in the traditional sense, but they don't have perfect regeneration and can wear out to a certain extent.
>>
>>52724265
>>52724308
Don't know much about Ork lore, but I always assumed that Orks aging would be what made them grow bigger and bossier. As in no ork is spawned a Nob or warboss, but got there eventually if they survived long. Though that may be completely wrong.
>>
>>52724402
Dunno if I made it clear enough there but the guy fucking picked the dice he rolled back up and rerolled them right infront of me. Every save he made, he passed and did it all out of my sight.

I sound so fucking salty over this but I'm pretty relaxed, I just wanted to tell my dumb story.
>>
>>52724422
Its not age that does that its winning more fights and getting more orks to join his warband. Age may give some experience but its largely inconsequential.
>>
>>52724402

What do you usually chat about when you play?
>>
>>52724402
Stories like this is what makes me afraid of trying to get games with randoms. Never seen these stereotypes among friends who play, but feels like they might be hording up in the flgs's. I get extremely uncomfortable among socially disabled people for some reason.

Gaming shit like our armies and stuff, people will talk for hours about all their lore and colour schemes and all of that if you're willing to listen. Stuff going on in our area, music (pretty easy to tell when half the guys have metal band shirts on), video games.

I dunno anon, I just start with shit we have in common and go from there, different people wanna talk about different stuff but those are the common ones that come up. Some of the older guys are alright and talk history and nerd stuff with me which is nice.

It's the awkwardness that gets to me, I'm stuck at a table with you for at least 40 minutes and no matter what I try to talk about to some of those people, they just stay silent.

From drifting about and chatting to the people there I gathered who the dickhead players were and I got stuck in a game with one before I learned. The dude just sat there in more or less silence, was wearing a Fallout 4 shirt but didn't wanna even talk about that. He just told me what he was rolling for and occasionally demanded to see stats from my codex if he thought I was cheating. To be fair, he played the game properly and didn't have a stupid WAAC list, so that was the silver lining I suppose.

I have the Necrons Start collecting, The box with 10 warriors and a Ghostark, the Command Barge, two boxes of Lychguard, a Tomb Spider and a box of Tombblades. The only thing I'd call fully assembled are the Overlord from the SC! and the Tomb Spider. Maybe the scarabs, if you want to count them. But I really like Necrons and want to play them, I just can't find the motivation to painting them. I was thinking about stripping them from my previous OC donotsteel colour scheme and just go for the vanilla Sautekh scheme, but I don't really like that either, and don't want to play an army I wouldn't like to paint/watch.

The tournament is probably just for fun. Not that I could do something else, I've never even played a single game. So the only other Troop choice Marines have are Scouts, but they just look awful.
I'll just post a list of possible kill teams I can do and hope for some useful critique.

Yeah, stuff like that always gets me uncomfortable. I'm a little introverted myself, but not in the autistic awkward way, just to the point where I dislike hanging out with people who don't have anything interesting to say. And the local gaming club I've thought about joining has some weird policies, like it's forbidden to discuss politics and religion, phrased in a very "social justice" sort of way, which I'm also not very comfortable with.
>>
>>52724596
Nice army choice man.

The infiltrators are great, the dragoons are great (I wish they were a little cheaper £wise though).

>>52724596

The taste of the anon pleases the Omnissiah. Always nice to see some more cogbros.
You decided which Forge World they're going to be? Most of them are awesome, but some are more awesome than others.
Infiltrators are brilliant, Dragoons are very brilliant, Kastelans are beautiful but pricy tanks, Kataphrons are good with Grav and Arc and lackluster in the other two loadouts, if noones told you that before.
>>

I don't mind introverted people, even people who are a tiny bit autistic and shy/awkward (I'm in a shop with a bunch of the nerdiest people around for fucks sakes, I don't come here to meet confident socialites) but it's the ones who come across as blunt dickheads who annoy me.

We've got the same policy in my store but I think it's more to avoid drama here, there are people who will be petty and start some dumb grudge over pointless political debates and that autism can just be avoided entirely by stopping it at the root.

There's also the benefit that no alt-right or far left nutters start spouting out crazy shit as a customer or someone who's thinking of starting up walks into the store.

I'd go for the club honestly anon, playing is a part of our autistic hobby and you're probably not gonna get into super deep political debates with some guys you just wanna roll dice with anyway.

Talking politics/religion pretty much always turns out to be shit though. I avoid it whenever I go out for a drink, even though I have a strong opinion regarding both. But it always turns to shitflinging and getting mad about stuff you can barely influence anyway. I can totally understand people just wanting to play a game and not talking about politics.

Of course, it's just that the policy was worded in a way where it gave very "extreme leftist"-vibes. You know like the sort that expect to find racism and shit literally everywhere, and feel like they need to show that they take a stance against the nazi threat against our society that we somehow never actually see. If that makes sense. I'm no /pol/fag myself, but I'm very anti those sort of people.
>>
>>52724739
>>52724649
Man, I wish my club had a policy like this sometimes. I honestly hate politics, so when someone starts taking about them I'll usually try to change the topic, which has resulted in people just assuming I have the opposite political views from them and getting salty. This is actually the better option because before id try to find some small area that I could agree on, which led to them thinking I was fully on-board whatever bat-shit political rantings they wanted to start spouting.

I'm just here to roll some fucking dice man, I don't care who you voted for.

Shiny. What's the colour scheme, if you've got one yet? Mine are Magi Biologis, so I get to cannibalize all the Skaven kits for loot. Admech have so many spare bitz from all the dual kits it's amazing, major army perk there.

Tangently related: I hate when people roll their dice into an section of a table with dice already and then the rolled dice mix up and blend into the not-rolled dice. Especially if the dice are from the same matching set. Fucking clear your rolling area.
>>
>>52725136
I've had this happen a few times. I always offer to reroll if I'm the offender.

Though once I had a guy just sorta dump the dice he was rolling onto the pile of the rest of his dice, and then try to pick up all the "successes", which ended up being more dice than he initially rolled. Called him on it, made him reroll, and caught him trying it again 5 minutes later.
>>
>>52725136
This. I played against a guy, he forgot to bring his own dice so he borrowed the store, that wouldn't be a problem, but he picked the EXACT same colour that mine were. So there were like 40 fucking red dice on the table at the end and I still don't know if I took mine home or not.
