What are some good examples of anachronistic interpretations of technology? The chief example of such that immediately strikes me is 40k obviously but trying to imagine how to portray a village workshop that has people in tunics and robes working on high tech equipment and what not.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

Though, I think you need to clarify your question. An anachronistic interpretation of tech would be an old, outmoded way of thinking of technology. Like a system of highly trained pigeons as a method for rapid, global communication, instead of the internet.

Civil War era south ran in cottage industry, it was one of the reasons it lost: people in houses hand making munitions and weapons and other industrial tools vs the north and it's immense factory infrastructure

You have to check places like Somalia and Central Asia, where one can find examples of it. Cellphone cards used as money, american pickups retooled in the midst of the savannah, zip gun workshops etc.

Destiny comes to mind, though not exactly what you're saying.

Shame they fucked up the story so bad. It has the makings of a neat setting.

We had factories you dunce. We didn't literally handmake our munitions and weapons in a house. Fuck, I'm 30 minutes away from the ruins of the old Fayetteville armory.

Christ are you stupid. It's not that the South didn't have factories, it's that the South didn't have as many factories as the North.
>>
>>52679997
Not really, the south was just slow to adopt certain ideas, Springfield and Harpers fairy were the two big armories before the civil war, each went to either faction, however Springfield was modernized in a very streamlined and efficient way (ie, machines were installed in the proper point of production with plenty of space for workers/supplies) however Harpers ferry was modernized in a haphazard way, sort of like they installed the machines as they came in and made extensions accordingly regardless of future planes, what resulted was Springfield looking like a not to different from a factory today while Harpers looked like an Indian attempt to stay with the times.
