Just remember that the game is like Gundam, in that the characters and their interactions are more important than the mechs themselves. Which I guess is why you can get Overdrive from social scenes. Also, your players should use Overdrive all the damn time.

oh wait maybe I should actually specify what I'm paying. We're using a sort of mercenary setting and my DM let us use the High School SRS Mech bases since you get to pick configurations (we're reskinning them of course). I wanted to be the fastest guy I could so I was suggested booster and flanker configurations. As for my character he's a cocky veteran who just wants to "show these kids how it's done".
