Playing?
Hating?
Brewing?

What's your most effective sideboard card?

What card are you most excited for in Amonkhet? Does it change any deck you play?

Who has modern on Tuesday nights at their LGS?

Can U-Tron jam a set of Ensnaring Bridge and just use Mindslaver as the wincon?
>>
>>52654791
U-Tron isn't a deck that looks to empty its hand
>>
I was looking to get into modern and I was looking at 8-rack as a start. What I was wondering, is that I've seen some lists run anywhere from 0-4 lilianas. She seems like a very important part of the list, and I was thinking the lists that ran 0 were for budget reasons, but there's this one that made a top 8 at GP Vancouver that has 0 as well, so barring consistently favourable matchups it seems like it's doable. There's also a lot of back and forth about mana bases and running white/red for sideboard or just keeping it black.

Is there anyone here who can shed some insight on what the right way to go with the deck is (besides killing myself for playing an unfun deck)?
>>
How do I Rev for 15 safely?
>>
>>52653900
So this is like the best thing Blue decks can side in against Tron right?
>>
What are some decent replacements for Mishra's bauble? I understand why it's so good, and probably irreplaceable, but $50 for an uncommon. I don't think so.
>>
>>52655284
Replacement how? 0-drop artifact that can toss itself to the graveyard, or an artifact providing a bit of card draw/self replacement?

>Playing?
G/B Tron. Nothing gets me harder than killing my opponents Goblin Guide, making them discard their Boros Charm, and recouping the damage their guide did with a mini-helix, all for the low cost of 2 mana and some discarded eggs.
>Hating?
Nothing really. I'm pretty happy with the current metagame.
>Brewing?
Nothing at the moment. I have a memey mono-walls deck built, I just need to put together a sideboard.
>What's your most effective sideboard card?
Warping Wail or Pithing Needle. Both have been consistently relevant week after week.
>What card are you most excited for in Amonkhet? Does it change any deck you play?
Snek god dude. I'm going to try him as a 2-of in mono-green stompy.
>>
>>52655284
If it's just for types in graveyard you can cast hangarback Walker or Walking ballista for zero
>>
>>52655181
I have 2 8-Rack players in my meta and both swear by mono-black. One of them runs a full set of Lili's and the other runs none so I don't know what to tell you there.

The spiciest tech I've seen for that deck though is Lupine Prototype if you're too poor for bridges.
>>
>>52653421
>Playing?
Death's Shadow Jund, GB Tron, Breach Titan, Affinity. Think I might try Merfolk this Friday.

>Hating?
Bogles.... sometimes.

>What's your most effective sideboard card?
Back to Nature.

Not excited about anything in Amonkhet.
>>
>>52655325
Is Collective Brutality that good? I'm considering splashing it in U Tron.
>>
>>52655724
It is a very strong card with a lot of utility. Its useful in a variety of matchups, and it makes the burn matchup in particular a lot more winnable.

If you think you can fit it into U Tron without compromising the core of the deck, go for it.
>>
>>52655724
Yes, it's pretty good. Run 3 or 4.
T.Burn player
>>
>discard your hand to slow me down 1 turn
Sounds nice. I like it.
>>
>>52656143
>discard your hand
There's enough redundancy in g/x tron that dropping extra eggs or tutors is irrelevant.
>1 turn
In what world does recouping the life lost to a turn 1 GG, killing said GG (which probably would have gotten in 4+ more damage), and removing 4 damage from their hand equate to 1 turn? I've played both decks extensively and CB is virtually a net gain of 8-10 life, which can often be enough for tron to stabilize.
>>
>>52655284
The rarity of old cards is largely irrelevant to the price. Low supply? High demand? Expensive card
>>
>>52653519
This is a real card?
>>
>>52656748
Yes little Timmy. Back in the day, Wizards wasn't afraid of printing good cards.

Now we just get straight shit from BFZ though Amonkhet.

Hey lads

RUG Delver
>>
>>52656999
Oh man, I just realized he hits fetches! This might be main board playable.
>>
>>52657054
Why would I ever run this in rug delver. I run 14 creatures at most and I certainly don't want to be tapping of for the most expensive scry ever
>>
>>52656936
Definately intredasting. Maybe he can fit in burn?
>>
>>52657249
Harsh mentor is strictly sideboard fodder
>>
>>52656936
Naya hatebears is a go.
>>
>>52657240
3 mana for scry 2 every turn is pretty fuckin decent and her 0 can also get you lands.
>>
>>52657249
I think there's a place in burn for him. He wrecks everything affinity wants to do, he turns every fetch n' shock from 3 to 5 damage, he negates scoozes ability to gain incremental life, he severely punishes both Eldrazi Displacer and Drowner of Hope, and I'm sure there's plenty more good stuff that he harms.

He's probably not quite as impactful as Eidolon, but he doesn't affect you and can be run alongside Eidolon anyway. I was thinking at first that he might be worth sideboard slots but the more I look at him the more I'm thinking he's mainboard material.
>>
>>52657317
>play her for 3 mana
>use her +2
>shes only at 3 loyalty and gets bolted
Wow 3 mana for scry 2 so OP.
>>
>>52657298

>>
>>52657344

>>

>>
>>52657317
You're assuming she doesn't just die.

Also rug delver functions fine on 2-3 lands. This is not a good card
>>
>>52657374
Manlands and Kiki.
>>
>>52657365
Leonin Arbiter is a key hatebear and he fucks your fetches. You could run without him though I guess
>>
>>52657409

>>

Ok but seriously, why are the majority of the amokhet people black? Shouldn't most of them, you know, look egyptian? I get they're pandering but it seems ridiculously insulting to just glaze over the people that it's actually based on.

It'd be like doing a china themed set but the majority of people were Irish because they wuz emperors and shiiet.
>>
>>52657591

>>
>>52656451
I know. I mean force is an uncommon, but I feel this price is inflated and will be reprinted soon enough. I'm more or less binding my time. In the mean time, got an suggestions for replacements?
>>
>>52657325
I feel that way too anon. But what could one cut for him?
>>
>>52656936
This guy seems playable in Burn. Maybe over Lavamancer as a two of. Hes not always good, hes a bad topdeck, but in conjunction with Eidolon he makes playing the game very strenuous on life totals. If theyre both out turn 3 a single fetch into 3 cmc or less spell becomes 5 damage.
>>
>>52657783
There were very few blacks in ancient egypt. If they wanted the set filled with blacks, they should have made the theme the congo jungle.

I felt bad for egyptians, getting their history blatantly stolen and black-washed.
>>
>>52657850
Maybe cut Lavamancer and a Skullcrack to run 2 mainboard?
>>
>>52657958
Probably this. Maybe a Lightning Helix and a Skullcrack cut or Lavamancer. You'd want to cut a 2 cmc spell as to not ruin your curve.

Even if it were only a few, there were blacks in ancient Egypt(slaves in hieroglyphs are depicted as very dark) so I don't see why you are whining. Also, there was a pharaoh with Sub-Saharan features near the collapse of ancient egypt (niggers can't keep shit). I didn't see anyone complaining about the depiction of whites in Not! Greece and Not! Mongolia. It doesn't even matter because of your races will soon be obsolete anyway. Hispanic masterrace here.

Wooded foothills and stomping grounds put you most of the way to a passable burn deck. You could make an ok burn deck with $100 more.

Bedlam Reveler
Monastery Swiftspear
maybe soul-scar mage

the green gets you atarka's command, destructive revelry, and sideboard ancient grudge.

suite of burn instants and sorceries and mana morphose

You'll win some matchups. It's not an amazing list but it's alright. Hurts for lack of the more expensive burn staples like goblin guide and eidolon of revels.

imperial taxes is white-red legacy taxes, named for imperial recruiter (which is no longer included in the list in favor of recruiter of the guard). basically you play this cunt in d&t and get whatever you want out of your deck to hose the other guy, or just chain flickerwisps off it until someone dies.
NEO imperial taxes was playing red for magus of the moon, and will now also include harsh mentor in some amount because that static ability is cuckoo-bananas.
that being said, i'm drawing up a non-eldrazi tax list based off imperial taxes for modern and i'll post it once i get it hammered out.

Bro. I play ANT in legacy, Paradoxical Outcome in Vintage. My very first non-shit standard deck was Swathstorm in 2008, and I probably would have played tendrils had I known about the game in 2003.

Storm is love, storm is life. No need to tell me this.

Gifts for desperate ritual, pyretic ritual, manamorphose and x

X is either grapeshot if you have past in flames in your hand/graveyard or past in flames if you dont.

With a Baral or Electromancer out that gives you enough mana and tutoring ability for a decent size storm
>>
>>52660979
Been playing the deck for a month or so, shit tons of fun, there is some thought process against your bad matchups (B/G/x, Death's Shadow variants, Burn) as well as navigating through any control decks. But if those aren't the case, then you just breeze right through and go into storm auto pilot
>>
>>52666030
Your coupon creatures are the heart and soul of the deck, against certain matchups I hold onto them until I can play them, counter a removal spell or just go off on top of the stack in response

It's literally pic related with - trample and + 1 toughness.

It will be a fun kitchen table card, and if Delver decks were a real thing, I would play this as a one- of for funsies, but it's not really modern relevant. Especially when we lack really good spells in UR. If we had free spells to protect it, maybe Disrupting Shoal, you could make it work.
>>
>>52657402
No disagreement on delver not wanting it, but I've never been one to put much stock in "dies to removal". For 4cmc she dodges bolt, which is a check mark. She doesn't protect herself or draw cards, which looks bad in a vacuum, but I'll wait and see before insisting that subsequent free Scry 2 and free creatures/lands is unplayable.

What does this need to be good in modern? it's live vs loads of decks but folds to t1 hand hate which is the most common play in the format. It's a nonbo with opal and SSG is inconsistent. it's less relevant once your opponent slams a goyf before I you can use it.

thoughts?
>>
>>52671365
Sol lands and misheard workshop
>>
>>52671365
It needs several things to be good. First, it needs sol lands and free acceleration (such as SSG or Lotus Petal or Moxes) so it can be out on T1 significantly more frequently. Second, it needs a suite of tax effects to go along with it, such as Sphere of Resistance. Trinisphere alone doesn't stop scary shit from happening, it just delays a lot of things and ruins early games. Basically, it buys you time to get your sphere effects down to tax them out of the game while Tangle Wire and Smokestack actually lock them down and you win with whatever (Gods' Eye, Gate to the Reikai is the techest kill I've seen).

Basically, Trinisphere needs an entire archetype to exist in Modern that doesn't exist, since the tools to support said archetype don't exist in Modern's cardpool by intentional choice of WotC. I'm a big proponent of brewing, but this isn't the place for Trinisphere, sorry anon.
>>
>>52671365
I have a 1-of 3ball in tooth and nail side to fuck with the odd combo match. And burn. Jamming it on T2 on the play vs burn is funny stuff. One bolt per turn, if they even fucking manage to get to three lands, is a hell of a slow clock.

Run more tarfire/seal of fire, basically the DS decks have a hard time getting creature/instant-->tribal/artifact--->PW/Ench in order of ascending hardness.

So the best inclusions are going to be enchantments and tribal cards that you can reliably bin for presumably traverse, so presumably you are on either jund shadow or BUG midrange traverse, so I'd go with upping my tarfires, including bolts/brutality main and the like.

Rate my shitbrew

>29 spells
4x mana seism
4x splendid reclamation
4x harrow
4x amulet of vigor
3x realms uncharted
2x edge of autumn
4x faithless looting
4x magmatic insight

>6 creatures
4x eternal witness
2x greenwarden of murasa

>25 lands
4x gruul turf
4x haunted fengraf
2x golgari rot farm
4x miren, the moaning well
1x grim backwoods
4x forest
4x mountain
2x blighted fen

The plan is to combo off with some combination of mana seism, splendid reclamation, haunted fengraf, eternal witness, and amulet of vigor. Amulet also allows for faster acceleration.

In modern? I thought the 8 land version was a legacy deck or something. Anything less than 18 and you will never hit your third land drop, which means no Baloth, the best card in your deck.
>>
>>52675012
Yeah and, imo, Jeskai is a better aggressive Delver build

>>52667610
>Blood Baron of Vizkopa
Huh, forgot he was even a thing. Pretty neat he doesn't die to Path, Bolt, or Push. He even dodges Terminate, Pulse, D. Sphere, Murderous Cut and other semi-common removal

Guess he makes up for it by having kind of a shit body though
>>

>tfw baloth is the best card in your deck
>>
>>52676951
Everything this did in Standard needed cards that are banned in Modern not to mention you can do exactly what Dragonstorm did in Modern on T2 with fucking Cheerios or Infect.

well, fuck me /tg/
when this seismic assault trend started?
I bought a pair for a land deck back in 2012 trying to go out of the road, and now they cost 4x more?

You do get access to quality beaters, such as, uuuh, ummm, nothing? Geist?

I wonder why that is? Is it maybe, just maybe, cause it's a shitty meme 4 mana enchantment?
>>

you won't be saying this when enchantress bogs your board and cheats it out t2. Enchantress is going to be even worse than eldrazi with this card.

Any decks this guy could see play in? 4/3 for 2 is nothing to scoff at, even if it dies to bolt.
>>

the revolt 4/3 sees no play and I no reason why this would either

Maaaaaybe in Standard RDW I hope, but not in a format with bolt and far more efficient creatures like Goyf or Arcbound.

traverse wasn't printed until last year senpai and DSJ is a fairly recent deck as well.

>>

>4x Urza's Tower
Explain?
>>
>>52680345
If you play all four Towers you have enough mana to play your entire deck. It's busted tech in Affinity
>>
>>52680345
The guy who put together the sample decks for GP Vancouver really shit the bed - the 4 towers should be spire of industry. That wasn't the only mistake that was made either; there were 5 copies of Searing Blaze between the main and sideboard for the burn sample list, and there were a few other mistakes that I don't recall.
>>
>>52680430
I was more baffled by the fact that they weren't at least wastes, unless you really want to squander slots to mindgame your opponent into thinking you're running tron. Geez that's bad.
>>
>>52675388

> Bring to Light, Painful truths, Zulaport

I haven't seen this played, like ever.
>>
>>52680544
Bring to Light had its own dedicated Scapeshift variant for awhile before it fell off in popularity, and I think Painful Truths sees a little play in some Grixis lists.

Not sure about Zulaport though. Aristocrats hasn't been a thing in modern (unless you count Melira CoCo) for ages.

>>
>Tezzeret the Schemer dropping to 5.00

I'm baffled. These should have spiked by now. Why is SCG being slow on this one? Their pro has confirmed it boosts the old Tezzerator build. Why have they not swooped in yet?
