What's the most "Bully" move you've ever pulled and do you feel bad about it?
>>

This a particularly round about way of just casting Armageddon.

Except it positions you slightly better to recover, and if you pull it with Leovold...

But yeah, basically, except in a color that doesn't normally get it.

Getting there.

The changelings except Mauler are maybeboard, on mobile so not changing it.
>>
>>52640698
>and if you pull it with Leovold...

...you suddenly find yourself not invited to play with your group anymore.

Hey EDHG, should I make my Erebos deck more midrangy, or should I shove more combos and tutors into it?
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/erebos-god-of-goodstuff-1/

>>52640618
To answer the thread question, a good chunk of my spot removal is geared towards shutting down the Animar in my playgroup.
I never feel bad.
>>
>>52640618
>What's the most "Bully" move you've ever pulled and do you feel bad about it?

Forced Salty McSalt to make horrible attacks into Gideon Jura again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again while out aggroing everyone else on board.

Another absolute bully moment was waiting for the guy running blue to tapout, then going for the Jokulhaups+Faith's Reward in my Zurgo deck

Planning on making a Tajic, Blade of the Legion deck. Mostly Human and Soldier tribal.

What are some must includes? What are some good win-cons to put in that also won't make people I play with hate me?
>>
I'm sorry if this is an idiotic question, but rulings say that a creature with 0 toughness is "put into a graveyard". Does this mean it's sacrificed technically, or is its method of hitting the grave a different thing entirely?
I wanna know if Mazirek in Hapatra is bonkers after I clear the board with Black Sun's Zenith.[/spoiler}

>>52641018
Does it say sacrificed?
>>

Dunno if it counts, but one guy Armageddoned while I had Faith's Reward in hand and he was left with nothing but few dinky creatures while I beat his face in with both Akromas.
He was pretty depressed

Why include all the trash changelings as well? You might as well play the trash minotaurs too, if you're going to play them.
Include Adaptive Automaton at least, if you don't want Door of Destinies. Door might be not worth it, since there's not enough shit to work with and Coat of Arms is way too risky.

I'm going to go the discard route though, through enchantments mostly, that includes double strike, Painful Quandary, Oppression and so on. I also include Anthem of Rakdos, Jagged Poppet and other hellbent cards.
>>
>>52641018
No. Keep in mind that same goes for legend rule: you don't sacrifice the excess legends, you put them in your grave. Sacrifice is something you have to do yourself and is a completely separate effect.
>>
>>52640662
Oh hell yeah baby, Hellbent/Minotaur tribal inbound

Dropping Act of Aggression on a guy's Memnarch and stealing all his shit because a Lattice was on my field.

I didn't feel a bit of pity. Fuck Memnarch.
>>
>>52641203
Like I said, they're maybeboard. I was thinking First Strike Deathtouch synergies but they're probably not worth it. I kind of wanted to go the Null Profusion/Ragemonger/Heartless Summoning creature Storm route but I would need a way higher creature density for that.

Grave Pact effects are probably going to be good in Hapatra if you focus on the token aspect, so Mazirek could be good alongside those.

Because most people building "tribal decks" for tappedout and so just cram the useless shit in their decks because the creature happens to have right creature type. If I wanted to know every minotaur, I'd just search for them by creature type, I just don't want every vanilla beater that tribal decks will have anyway for underrepresented tribes

>>
>>52641951
There's few usable minotaurs, nigger. Outside of lords, Cairn Wanderer and Taurean Mauler are only ones worth using and actual minotaurs the Fanatic guy and the Edgewalker minotaur.
Most of the minotaurs are so bad that only format they would maybe see play is limited.
>>
>>52640699
this is bad and you should feel bad
>>
>>52642114
My playgroup is getting passive aggressively irritated at me for building at too high of a powerlevel. This looked like a decent chance to build crap.
>>
>>52641899
>MFW I actually run good ol' Woody
>>
>>52642186
Anon, try with another playgroup. Don't build boring crap, maybe try with another deck? Like, with a fun deck, Minotaurs are not good, just not.
>>
>>52642214
I am literally building crap on purpose.

I have literally over a dozen decks, it's just I'm surrounded by utter jank.
>>
>>52642244

I'm not against your Minotaur tribal my friend, but one thing you can do is help your friends by buying them cheap but good additions to their decks and helping them deckbuild
>>
>>52642244
Then get another group. If they cannot hold your powerlevel, then aren't you bored?
>>
>>52642214
>implying power=fun and fun=power
I built a shitty Ayli cleric tribal and I haven't had as much fun with any deck as with it. Even though the tribe isn't powerful, it doesn't mean that the overall synergy will be bad and the deck won't feel awful to play with.
>>
>>52642260

You seem like a sociopath
>>
>>52642288
I don't like when people complain because my decks are stronger or more consistent than theirs.
>>
>>52642260
Not him, but I find it refresing to build with decent variety. High power decks run mostly same anyway and have same cards so that's not gonna be interesting deck if you have multiples of the same thing.
>>
>>52642326

I get that, but the idea of switching playgroups, which are you usually made up of friends, because of something like that, seems antisocial
>>
>>52642326
You sound like a boring person and totally not fun to play against. Why not challenge yourself at deckbuilding instead of sounding like a sore loser?
>>
>>52642391
Winning is fun. I don't care if the rest don't have fun if I'm winning.
>>
>>52642259
They're other dudes at my LGS, I never said they were friends and I'm certainly not buying any of them decks that could complete with mine.

>>52642260
I enjoy winning and do so with frequency, to the point that it's almost boring just winning with my T2-T3 barely competitive decks. Some of the people I play with are actually fun to be around and I'd like to continue the fun.
>>
>>52642430
I'm surprised that there's people who want to still play with you after first time. Unless you're that one annoying faggot that always sits in other people's tables without asking.

+1/+1 and -1/-1 counters annihilate each other. All other types of counters stack. So this combos nicely with, say, Frankenstein's Monster which will host +2/+0, +1/+1, and +0/+2. Also, creatures with Cumulative Upkeep and +1/+1 counters can gain p/t and lose Age. Or if they have -1/-1 and Age they can lose both.

I'm surprised Beast is still a creature type considering how little they want to use it for anything. At least it isn't as shitty as the existence of Naga as a type.
>>
>>52643245
Camels have a long and glorious tradition as a type. Seriously, they go back to Arabian Nights.

As for Beast, I think they're restricting it to weird things (like Pangolins) or beasts that aren't earthly wildlife (like Baloths). Which... eeh? I'm more of a Splitter than a Lumper anyway.

Pride Kings are about as value town as you can make them. You don't even have to play group hug, since you benefit more than the rest.

You can play them as an Arms Dealer type of deck. Give people stuff, let certain people (you included) draw cards, and fuck over control decks. My favorite way of doing that? Telepathy.

Need an explanation for how in the hell a gitrog monster deck actually plays.

I understand the combo, but I feel like I'm missing what to do before it goes off, and I guess even after it goes off. Dredge your deck, then all your win conditions are in your graveyard. If you wait, you durdle before the combo goes off.

Like I get dread returning skirge familiar, but then your necrotic ooze is still in the graveyard.

Buy the Meren prebuilt deck. Seriously, a solid chunk of the stuff you will need is already in that deck. Otherwise Hallowed Spiritkeeper, Nyx Weaver, See the Unwritten, and Ghoultree are absolute musts. Something like Overwhelming Stampede or Pathbreaker Ibex is always welcome in Green. I also have a lot of ETB effects like Duplicant, Rune-Scarred demon, and Karmic guide supported with Eldrazi displacer. Karador himself needs spells that shovel stuff into your graveyard, and in my experience pairs well with the aformentioned Ghoultree, and stuff like Selfless spirit and Spore frog.

Imperial Recruiter, Goblin Chirurgeon, Goblin Matron, Skirk Prospector, Treasonous Ogre, Kari Zev's Expertise, Skull Clamp, Eldrazi Monument. Maybe Mana Geyser, Magus of the Moon, Priest of Urabrask and Akroan Crusader. I don't really like playing a bunch of pump effects, especially ones which don't grant haste, in multiplayer.
There's also this list/primer that is linked on the competitive tier list, which pretty much goes all-or-nothing. I've heard that Zada is one of the fastest combo decks in cEDH, just that it's wildly inconsistent.

I was thinking of building Tazri, any tips to keep the deck on the casual side ?

All of the players in my playgroup are quite new to the game so I don't want to overwhelm anyone. I just like the look of all the allies.

Maybe I'm better off building Munda?
>>
>>52647154
Munda is terrible. Use him in the 99 if anything. Just play any allies you want, they're not even good, since you can play only 1 of each.
They're literally worse slivers
>>
>>52647193
Seems like I've got some misconceptions about allies then. Someone at my lgs keeps going on about how strong his Tazri deck is.

He's probably using that food chain stuff.

5c manabase sounds like it's going to be a pain though, especially for my wallet...
>>
>>52647154
Tribal decks are precarious in ultra-casual groups because they can easily grow out of control if they don't play sweepers or just removal in general. But really, you have a plethora of terrible cards to choose from, so you should probably be able to tune it to your power level.
Just kill me tier: Play the cards that are just randomly allies and don't have tribal interactions.
Bad tier: Include the Cohort allies, it stops the quadratic power growth.
Poor tier: Include allies that grant minor benefits, like temporary boosts to your creatures.
Mediocre tier: Include the allies that are pretty much must-answer threats in the context of your deck. Tuktuk Scrapper, Tajuru Warcaller, Sea Gate Loremaster, Kazuul Warlord and Hagra Diabolist.
Decent Tier: Play a selection of solid Allies, and then utilize your 5-color pool to have a solid framework around it.
Broken tier: Play 3 allies and food chain.
Fun tier: Use the ability to tutor to set up combos with cards like Cliffhaven Vampire, Mina and Denn, Noyan Dar or Zada.
>>
>>52647375
Well, as the others are kind of new, you'll do well running taplands and the trilands. You also can run slow fetches and the BfZ fetchable dual lands. You don't need fetches or duals in casual groups, best lands you'd want in them are shocks, unless you own better ones though.
>>
>>52647658
>>52647375
Oh yeah, I also meant to say that allies can be somewhat powerful tribe, but feels like extremely watered down slivers.
>>
>>52644721
Skeletons are pretty awesome and I'd vote for some variety in the undead... or "Diversity among the life-impaired" as Wizards would probably put it these days.

My pet type is probably Gremlin... or at least was until Kaladesh. Yeah, there were only two of them, but they were evocative little monsters while the artifact-sucking anteater-monkeys just don't have the same spark of mischief and malice. What cursed monkey paw did I unintentionally wish on to get more Gremlins?

Fungus is nice, but what I really want to see more of are the True Thallids, and they probably aren't coming back.

I'm one of the few people who actually likes Beebles. Not because they were 'funny' but because I sort of saw them as the counterpoint to Gremlins: mischievous but probably "well" meaning as much as they meant anything, sort of like quasi-intelligent fun-loving tribbles.

I'm gonna say my biggest regret: So few pirates! AER got us two which kind of made up for the Gremlins, but I thirst for more.

not him, but for years, i was waiting for Wizards to deliver a UBG Legendary creature with decent stts, good abilities and a 3cmc cost.
Now that Leovold exists (got lucky to get a foil one in the only conspiracy booster i bought) and made him my commander, my friends dont want to play with me anymore unless i change my commander.
Even when I use Leovold as a beater with Swords and stuff from my old Jenara Deck, people dont want me to play with me unless I use other colors.

Why are people so fucking assholes even when I explained I dont play combo Leovold?
Is it any chance Leovold could be banned in commander?

>>52648190

Its because Leovold is so damn good even if you are not playing the combo version. If its not countered or sacrificed, every fucking time you target him or something, you will get a card.
You probably have counterspells (Voidslime and the new one from Aether Revold are pretty good additions) so even when your removal gets countered, The Leovold player will always get card advantage and you will lose resources trying to remove him.

I own a MonoU Azami hard control deck, and its really a pain in the ass to play with a Leovold deck. Having green means you will have to face uncounterable beaters like Thrun and that 2/2 green insect from Dragon Maze that won him the game cause it has protection of blue, flash and cant be countered.

Cards like Blue Sun's Zenith/Stroke of Genius are also acceptable if they are drawing the cards. You're filling their mind with so much knowledge they die.

>>52649076
I like using Hydras with X in the cost and just grinding out wins. I hate Eldrazi in commander. Especially the ones with Annihilator.
>>
>>52649361
Hydra Broodmaster is pretty great for dumping 20+ mana and dumping out tons of tokens. Plus it doesn't have an x cost to cast so it won't die if you cheat it out
>>
>>52649361
BFZ/OGW/EMN Ulamog, Kozilek and Emrakul are quite fair for their casting cost in commander, don't shuffle back in forever and don't have annihilator, which is the most oppressive part of them IMHO. They also put a lot of the power in the cast trigger so that reanimating/cheating them is less powerful.

Emrakul is also a hell of a lot of fun if you've got a thick skin. Take someone's turn, attack another player with the first player then they both attack you.

Any ideas on my Jenara Enchantress/Voltron build? Rhonas, the Indomitable
2G
legendary Creature - God
Deathtouch, indestructible

Rhonas, the Indomitable can't attack or block unless you control another creature with power 4 or greater.

2G: Another target creature you control gains +2/0 and trample until end of turn.

5/5

Seems pretty disappointing really. I hope the black god will be much better and synergise well with the Minotaur feller, like the red one does. That said, each of the gods have been pretty disappointing, but at least the set has some other interesting cards.

So far the gods have been... yeah, a little underwhelming. But I think this is probably the worst of the bunch as far as disappointment goes, despite having a fairly solid activated ability. Oketra was a big scoop of vanilla ice cream I'll rarely want in the command zone but as a token maker she can find a home in the 99. Kefnut was a poor payoff for keeping hand at 7 but at least has some interesting synergies that give me a nonzero desire to brew. And Pervert is jank but I feel she's the best poised to go places. Janky places, but maybe fun places too. I actually want to see what I can do gambling for Devastating dreams, dropping her to the field, and then exploding the world and my hand at the same time, which is more than I can say for the other gods.
>>
>>52651301
Queen and Mana Echoes. You're Welcome. Also Ashnod's Altar/Basal Sliver and Heartstone.

Your commander should either be the Queen or the Overlord: Fuck Legion and Hivelord, run them in the 99 if you want indestructible or Coat of Arms. Queen is the core of your combo engine, but Overlord can just tutor her up, along with any other answer. Basically, you should have the ability to combo out in the deck. If it's plan A, put Queen in the Command Zone. If it's plan B, put Overlord there.

Homing Sliver. Fuck yeah Homing Sliver. Delicious.

There are more than enough Slivers that you don't have to run changelings or terrible predator-ripoff nuslivers
>>
>>52651438
Also Infinite: Queen + Heartstone + Gemhide + Heart
>>
>>52650795
That's kind of the point. Kruphix stockpiles and doubles mana, then you can cast Nissa for obscene amounts of mana and if she gets mana drained, better have a counter for mana drain.
>>
>>52651187
All of the gods suck as commanders but are fine in the 99 as generic duders that do stuff, which is fine if they pointed the gods at standard play, which it seems they did. At least they gave us Minotaur tribal for the 3 people that wanted it.

>>52651779
>Did you mistake it for Mina and Denn, or do you just put a loam shell in every RG deck?
the latter

it's just loam, crop rotation and a few taplands as cost and if you're in two colors, you can mostly afford the tap lands.
Also new bicycle is a forest/mountain for farseek/nature's lore/wood elves/three visits/etc.
If you have 7 on color fetches too, loam gets better.
If you have regrowth effects, like Eternal Witness, Den Protetor, Season's Past, Greenwarden, Praetor's Consel, dredging with Loam gets better.

It's solid in decks that play loadsalands like Azusa, Gitrog or Mina and Denn. Alternatively, if you play competitive, you might add it just because mana acceleration is important and he gives you 2 per fetchland. Lastly, he probably fuels some infinite combos or other synergies (Sylvan Reclamation, Scapeshift, etc) if you pack those.

But outside of those, playing some rampant growth equivalent is probably better. I guess he's in the top percentage of sneks if you're into that.

While slivers don't do same things allies can, allies are nearly not as powerful tribe as slivers.
You can't name enough allies that matter more than you can with slivers. Allies can be more powerful if you can run multiples of cards, but most allies are bad and unless I have missed something, only few of them are good, such as the reanimator ally and the one that draws you for each ally, but those require tapping.
With slivers you can do almost everything with themselves, from flashing them to regenerating themselves and breaking everything in sight, allies aren't even close what slivers are in EDH. If we were talking about other formats, then sure.
Both tribes lose to wraths, but at least slivers have hivelord.

I mean he's overpriced for a big flying beater, but there's nothing wrong with having your commander being able to hit hard enough to send a player straight to the shadow realm

I think it's arguable that the OG nicol bolas is better because of the hand disruption though. If Vaevictus hits and doesn't kill, you haven't necessarily improved your position much if he starts getting removed or chumpblocked or whatever.

Here's your answer.
>>
>>52656422
That's a sweet thought, but I don't think that's it. I don't usually win because there's usually at least one other person at the table who doesn't do this stuff, and they back up their grouphug materials by sheer numbers and Ghostly Prisons and the like.

Essentially, they've come up with a way to durdle into the late game and practically force others to durdle as well. It's awful.
>>
>>52656364
You play a combo deck or you find a new meta.

Grouphug is the single worst thing about this format. Players who don't try to win the game are faggots and they should be killed with infect or infinite storm every game.
>>
>>52655493

How is it terrible? How is it a problem at all?
>>
>>52656497

Conspire doesn't require creatures with haste or a turn later for creatures, correct?
>>
>>52656659
>remove all the creatures and leaving behind the piles of Dictate of Karametra and Well of Ideas
What a clever plan to defeat the decks that don't give a shit when their creatures die!
>>
>>52656724
Noncreature-capable wraths like Back to Nature or Austere Command might be valuable in this scenario.
>>
>>52656723
Correct.
>>
>>52656724
Ah yes the classic ESL.
>>
>>52657000
"Wrath" usually refers to creature boardwipes. There are a few of those that hit enchantments and artifacts, but typically the word just refers to "Wrath of God" effects, named for the classic card that destroys all creatures and prevents their regeneration.

If you're referring to the clumsy plurals of "Dictate of Karametra" and "Well of Ideas," well, it's just hard to make plurals out of singular card names without putting everything in awkward quotes or completely rephrasing the sentence. I'll take that loss.

>What's the most "Bully" move you've ever pulled and do you feel bad about it?
Brought Shirei to a four man game with everyone running U/R or R. This card on turn 4 with a sac outlet for Shirei. The amount of salt after the global concede turned my zombies to jerky.

Honestly, I thought one of the three other players would counterspell it away, but they didn't really read the card or just couldn't believe the effect. So really didn't feel bad.
>>
>>52654732
>Having the first Tri-ybrid activated ability cost
Way ahead of his time. Play him.
>>
>>52656364
You need to win without combo.

Judging by everyone playing grouphug, Laboratory Maniac is probably your best bet. Use the mana and draw they give you to draw and ramp even more.
>>
Are there any unusual artifact decks? I could always build memnarch/slobad or breya/sharrum, but those feel so... lame. Budget doesn't really matter.
>>
>>52657428
I meant to say win WITH combo.

When everyone is only winning through combat you have the true sign of a low power meta.

i hate animar so damn much.
reasons to hate animar-
-that fucking statue
-protection from th best colour, black
-unfair with hardened scales effects
-can come out on turn 2 easily
-fucking impossible to deal with
-free eldrazi
I honestly hate animar so damn much. unless its morph tribal, he's so fucking unfair. if hey play the fucking statue and no one has an answer, the game is over. they cast eldrazi for 0 mana all the fucking time.

>difficult to kill threats
I don't play much Vehicles, and I actually like Boros, but c'mon man... Vehicles are hard to remove in a format with Vandalblast?
I mean, I've had a pain in the ass with artifact decks before, but those are usually the bullshit esper ones that also include Unwinding Clock et al., not what are essentially temporary-creature artifacts.
>>
>>52657961
of course the deck has some weaknesses, all do (besides 60 land child of alara mazes end) but the deck is very good. card advantage on a 3 drop lord is very powerful

It's pretty annoying that planeswalkers are so damn strong in standard right now with very little answers, and they had a great opportunity with this little hatebear to make a versatile sideboard card that could help against walkers but no, they had to specify creatures artifacts and lands only
>>
>>52658946
Well, you can redirect the damage to walkers, yeah? At least it's something.
>>
>>52658977

True, but think of how sweet it would be if Walker abilities pinged them for 2? Suppression field works on planeswalkers but it was printed before planeswalkers existed lol, guess that figures
>>

Might be cool in modern against fetchlands?
>>
>>52659010
I think they're slowing printing anti-fetch tech so that they can safely ban Blood Moon and still have options for punishing greedy mana bases.

>>
>>52659502
What matches exactly would you side this in against?

It's worthless against DSJ, Jund, Junk, Dredge, Bant Eldrazi, Eldrazi Tron and Titanshift decks.

It's probably at best a two mana Shock against Affinity because you likely died the turn you wasted mana to not kill the Affinity player.

Eidolon is great because most decks have to at least eat a Shock to handle it. You can answer this without triggering it.

Why wouldn't they be? Do you expect Counterbalance to resolve after you've finished casting your spell as well?

Activating an ability means putting the ability on the stack and the paying its costs. Paying the cost in this case triggers an ability, which goes on the stack. The stack is a stack, so things that go there last resolve first.

I would rather kill a single guy with 40 damage than kill the whole table with the most unoriginal 2 card combo ever. Also 2 card combos are boring to use, it's just to easy to tutor the pieces up or just top deck out the combo.

bant or BUG control seems like it could be a player with new nissa if it's real.

Manglehorn stomps on Saheeli and if you can out threat/value saheeli, you're set there. The new cycling Naturalize might shore up the vehicles matchup along with Manglehorn.

Negate seems like the best way to protect the legend wurm.
