It's the only 10th level spell and it steals the divinity from a god and gives it to you, so I can't imagine it would be practically castable in any way in game. Karsus had the resources of the entire Netherese empire at his disposal, as well as magical training and knowledge simply not available now.

If making a mythal required the elves to sacrifice themselves, you'd need a thousand powerful wizards to give their lives (you can bring them back if the spell works) and an entire empire's worth of resources that the spell devours. You also need to rub your balls on the complete set of the Nether Scrolls.

So we did >rolling for stats
And I got myself a fun line.

I can arrange as I want. I have the following:
18
18
17
13
12
3

I plan on making a bestial kind of character. Effectively an animal companion for thr group. We have a Ranger, Druid and Bard, so there are plenty of things to help control it, and a Warlock of the old gods, who should be able to communicate somewhat with me, if I remember the old gods initial ability correctly.

What would you suggest? Help me build a fun character that can get away with action like a dumb brute of some kind. I dont want the stereotypical dumb Neanderthal dude with a large club, but rather an actual "animal intelligence" character, more akin to a dog or cat, who cant speak at all. I will probably go with something like a Gnome and refluff it slightly, but I am open to better suggestions.

Any great ideas come to mind? The outlander "raised by wolves" backstory would tie in well, but also feels a tad obvious.

Class is still my primary concern though. I vsnt really figure out a class tgat would work well as a complete idiot that can't speak.

And if so how would you go about it? Thanks.
>>
>>52632427
I should add that i have a decently homebrewed LMOP , i may just end up connecting nezznar to strahd but still.
They're a 3 pc party so maybe goign into the camapign with higher level will balance it otu a bit.
>>
Which one is better?
6 Arcane Trickster Rogue (Hand crossbow spec)

or

3 Arcane Trickster / 3 Bladesinger (and the rest of the level in bladesinger)

The first one will be able to do more damage but the second one look like it got more options.

>>52632427
Possible, but I wouldn't advise it. The two adventures have vastly different mood and feel to it.
>>
>>52632468

3 levels in Arcane Trickster, two levels in blade singer, rest in Arcane trickster

You get to be the thing you actually are supposed to be, and take all the useful bits out of the thing you want the thing which you actually want to be that makes it be better
>>
>>52632329
it's more lethal than other published campaigns, so you might have to stumble a couple of times through it. i'd recommend you lost mines of phandelver and then jump into any of the other published works.
>>
>>52632524
Quite the opposite, the only thing I want from arcane trickster is Mage Hand Legerdemain.
>>
>>52632512
Yeah i hear you, but i do run the camapign slightly more seriously than it was intended to be.
The main problem is how the levelling system is preferred in cos, by doing milestones, where i do XP instead.
>>
>>52632550
That sounds incredibly stupid. Run me by your concept
>>
>>52632325
is this with or without racials?
because with this you can literally be a god at anything and just suck at your dump stat.

your safest bets are 3 STR or 3 CHA, if you can get racials in there, just make the 3 a 5 or 4, and one of the 18s a 20, if you went with a 5, then you can pick resilient feat and make it a 6 with proficiency so you don't automatically die to saves with it, unless it is str or cha, which you won't ever need either way.

i'd say a martial would be a huge waste of those stats, with those stats you can be an amazing gish or spellcaster. half-elf, hexblade, 3+1STR, 18+2CHA, 18CON, 17+1DEX, 12INT, 13WIS and call it a day.
>>
>>52632237
Noone?

I want to make a Beast Master but I'm unsure if I make a small character who mounts his companion and goes into melee or someone who supports his companion at range.
I want to make a stealth duo, but the wolf and panther both get features to knock enemies down, which is shitty for a ranged ranger.

Go 3 into CHA because you're basically a dirty, nasty Tarzan raised by wolves or whatever
>>
>>52632609
you're obsessed w/ this 'brew!
>>
>>52630904
I can agree with that, but I wouldn't say that makes LG 'not nice'.
He's the cop that's more likely to let you get away with minor infringements and such if he thinks you're honestly not a real threat to everyone. He's the sort who'd be least happy to have to have somebody scalped for what they've done, but is prepared to have it happen, as it's what everybody would want and better for everyone's security.
Lawful neutral is the one that does it with a lot less heart and lawful evil might even take pleasure in administering punishment themelf. That's what distinguishes them apart.
>>
>>52632593

Should Krakens have psychic influence (i.e. be able to create Kraken Priests and stuff) when they're still in eggs, or should I just keep the egg as a black box McGuffin until it hatches? >>
>>52632624
I've made literally one post man, I'm just curious if this is the final version.
>>
How are the mass combat rules from UA?
>>
>>52632958
biologically speaking, the kraken egg would die when brought to the surface. it probably needs very specific concentrations of oxygen in water and pressure, direct sunlight would probably irradiate it with much more UV radiation than it could survive in.

so your best bet is anything magical you want, i'd say a embryo kraken would still exert some degree of psychic energy, but assuming krakens are anything like real cephalopods (they aren't but w.e), they are probably born really, really small, but completely formed as adults, and just grow in all directions with age, brain and psionics included.
>>
>>52632958
Can only be hatched in the eye of an ocean storm. Otherwise, it's borderline indestructible, so in nature, it gets swept into storms and is born into the scenes of destruction it's required to cause as it grows in order to feed.
>>
>>52632415
You are thinking of 0.
>>
>>52632659
So, let's be clear about something.

Average intelligence is 8-10 for non-pcs.

5 int would be a turbo retard.

3 means you can't function as a humanoid, not you'd revert to some animalistic form.

Unless you're playing some homebrew literal animal, this is gonna get Lange really fast.

Barbarian is probably your best bet, though.

Also everyone in the thread that thinks charisma has anything to do with appearance is a fucking idiot. You can be ugly as shit and have a high charisma, it's just related to your inborn ability to influence other people to join your way of thought.

For reference, politicians are often ugly, and charismatic.
>>
>>52632325

>>52633165

>>
>>52633190
Shouldn't martials have at least a magic weapon?
Monk and Druid get their magical attack at level 6.
>>
>>52633209
It's not like you absolutely need one unless your DM throws endless non-magical-weapon-resistant enemies at you.
And if you need one, the DM can throw you one somewhere along the lines as part of the story instead of 'obligatory buffs to your character'.

Monks aren't very damaging in the first place and druids are goddamn druids.
>>
Tales from the Yawning Portal answers some of this

Not only you need a salt water tank, you need that tank to be transmutated to keep itself pure all the time, and have a potent enchantment to keep its mind powers stable

Additionally to that, I'd add you have to have a source of immense electricity, and a conduit to the elemental plane of water
>>
>>52633313
I haven't looked through that book and can't get a copy on my phone too easily right now - could you screenshot the part that talks about it?
>>
>>52633313
This was supposed to be a reply to the kraken issue
>>
>>52633080
technically 0 intelligence stuns you indeterminately, or until you recover some intelligence.

>>52633131
going with the monster manual, Int<2 seems to be pure animal, no understanding of languages whatsoever, 5~3 seems to be the range where things can understand languages but not speak it, 6~7 things can understand and sometimes speak languages, anything higher than 7 being minimum humanoid intelligence.

by example, apes and phase spiders have 6 int but can't speak nor understand any languages, while giant vultures have 6 int and can understand common but not speak it, other more magical creatures, like chimeras, can understand languages without speaking them.
>>
>>52633337

not readily either, but what I said is basically the gist of it.
The red wizards of thay are raising an aquatic army of monsters, one of which is a malformed kraken.
They are kept in water tanks that have to be constantly kept pure and mind enchantments to keep them sane
>>
>>52632427
>>52632450
anyone elese?
>>
>>52633359

>Pools. The saltwater pools in this sector are 50 feet
deep, and the surface of each pool is 1 foot below the
surrounding floor. lt takes 5 extra feet of movement to
move from a pool onto the floor. Unless otherwise noted,
transmutation magic in each pool keeps the water clean.
The pools also exude enchantment magic. Living in
the water causes hypnotic dreams that, after weeks or
months of exposure, improve combat skill and imbue
most creatures with strong devotion to the Red Wizards

One of which is a malformed kraken.
>>
>>52633359
Is "pure" defined at all - like is salt water considered pure for it?
>>
>>52632427
What he said
>>52632512
Is very applicable. If you're looking for an alternative to death house as an intro adventure, perhaps consider Sunless Citadel. It's got a white dragon you can refluff into having something to do with Argynvost, and a Gulthias tree.

If you simply must do mines of phandelver, the book gives you a Forgotten Realm Factions based plot hook with which to dump them straight in Vallakis, with Ireena already there as a refugee, wanting desperately to consult on what to do next with madam eva.

Barovia is almost entirely skippable.
>>
>>52632427
i'm sure every book tells you how to jump into it from other works, specially from LMoP, you might want to check the pdf supplements from wizard's page.
>>
>>52633433

Nope. More like "Clean" than anything else, but this I guess is where you step in as the DM and say "As pure as the water from the elemental plane"
>>
>>52633454
I might just do an asspull and make this egg exist outside of those conditions. I don't really plan to ever integrate Yawning Portal, and if I do, it sounds like theirs is somehow deformed, so I'd probably just say it required special care to keep it alive that most don't.

Is it an evil act to kill people who are likely to be infected with an incredibly deadly, infectious, and nigh undetectable disease if I go it to protect the people of their Township?
My party today killed a few of our setting's version of zombies and they had a few people caged up. Now, my character has experience with these zombies and he knows that the only reason they capture people is to produce more of themselves, which begs the question.
My character had no proof and cant prove that the people were infected, but from similar situations it's likely they'd eventually turn and wreak havoc among the town, so I decided to kill them in their sleep while I was on watch and my other party members were asleep.

(Who I knew for certain would have no idea about the plague seeing as we were months travel away from the source where my character originated from, and even the people at the source don't know how to detect or cure it properly.)
>>
>>52633867
I wouldn't say evil but it is certainly above the law. The issue is that if there is no way to prove if they were the so called zombies then you might have killed innocents, which of course is really bad, the other problem is that unless that solution fully destroyed them all what stops them from going into hiding and start over?

The best solution would have been to find a reliable form of finding out if they are infected, else you will more likely than not perpetually postpone the problem and leave a wake of corpses.

Case for Evil: You don't know they're infected, and for all you know it's a falseflag to get you to slaughter them on someone's behalf. As they are they're still just sentient peaceable beings, not yet monsters.

+1d8 per spell level, so it can chain more consistently as you level it up, it 'going out of control' with the 'more you power it up' is both flavorful as fuck.

if then, they are too afraid of it doing too much damage, make it so the full dice is only for the first target, if it chains up, the second is just the original 2d8 or maybe 1 less per additional target.

>chaos bolt as a 3rd level spell, 4d8 dmg
>if chained, second target takes 3d8
>if it chains again, third target just takes 2d8
And 2d8 afterwards for every possible chain after that.

The main problem with that is that our party is a continent away from the source of the plague (my character's home country) and even there, where the specialists and such reside, the best way known to stop the spread of the plague is to burn anyone suspected of suffering infection (which occurs via forcefeeding of infected flesh, not just contact or what have you.)
So we're in a little mining town, half the world away from the people who know what they're doing, and even the people who know what they're doing don't know how to properly detect it.
So my character just defaulted to what he was trained to do in his country's military.

>>52634002
My character wasn't actually sent to kill anyone or do anything about the plague, we were sent to the town to investigate some disappearances. I decided on my own to root out and destroy every vector of the plague in the town.

Extremely debateable, since anarchy is Good by your definition.
>>
What do you guys think of rather powerful PCs?

What I mean is that as a DM I hate it if the PCs have shit stats and I like them generally powerful, even at low levels. Makes them stand out more.

For example, when they roll their stats, I let them reroll everything 11 and under, cause I want them to have positive stats in everything.

Sure it leads to weird things, like the party wizard having his strenght as the lowest stat at 15, but it makes the players more daring, more prone to try risky stuff, which makes things fun.

Since all possible actions that one person can take is greater than one in nearly every possible scenario, stopping murder results in a greater overall amount of freedom than permitting it.

Its shit like this that makes me homebrew my own time and materials for crafting the lower level magic items.
A simple, uncommon trinket? 100 gold and a couple of days of work and a spell slot per day.
Things get a little harder with weapons and armor, but I sure as hell know that if someone in my group has the know how to forge a simple shortsword at the very least would be able to craft one easily over the course of a week at most. If the wizard is with them, they can spend more on materials to make it a +1 sword at the end of their adventuring days after another week.
Of course, for balancing reasons, that would be the limit to crafting such magic items. Anything above rare is going to double, and even triple cost, time, and materials at higher rarities.
>>
>>52634710
>All of these are practical problems with your theory, and would probably result in having to take more possible actions from people to keep the system running than are gained by population, before it inevitably collapses. So no, that wouldn't work.
Practical problems are irrelevant under the assumption that it can somehow work. Who the fuck knows, maybe I make myself (a dictator obviously) and get Divine Ranks because of my unstoppable cult of personality and I give my people spells to Create Food and Water or some shit. The idea is that the potential problems have been solved. Actually you know what - I'm not even sure social collapse can be construed as "evil" in your system where "freedom" is all that matters.

>how to you force people to have kids?
Breeding pens or something, or taking their genetic data and just spawning massive numbers of clones and artificial kids without their consent.

>unsatisfied
Not relevant, they're "free" to be unsatisfied and "free" to attack me and overturn the system. That would, of course, allow me to defend myself.

>I have never said that anything that wasn't pure market capitalism is evil. Read you cuck.
But that's exactly what you said, because "greater freedom" is such a loosely defined term that it effectively means "in line with my own values". For example - if you make someone happy, but he is not classically free, this is somehow evil, while making someone miserable by making him free is somehow good.

>I've routinely based my posts on increasing or decreasing the number of possible actions available to all
Which you have noteably failed to quantify in any meaningful way. Are raising my hand and saluting two different actions? Do it count as an action for me to be physically able to punch someone as opposed to be normally willing to due to systemic consequences? How are you measuring 'actions'? By what means are 'actions' defined? Is free will even relevant, considering that personalities are in and of themselves in a way deterministic? And if there is a way to increase the total number of possible actions selfishly would it be permissible to kill people? If I can become somehow omnipotent (i.e. there can never be more actions possible than my omnipotence), should I be able to kill everything to attain it?

>liberal
>liberal
>liberal
I'm not a fucking "liberal" you dumb autist, it's completely loosely defined because "actions" in the physical sense would be more or less maximized by forcing people to run until they die (so their atoms move faster and collide more frequently, thus constituting more events and actions) and then vaporizing them. Actions in the psychological sense can be entirely replicated by placing people in brain tubes. Actions in the "human" sense can be augmented by doing some combo of BNW and 1984, where they certainly have more actions possible than any feudal republic solely by virtue of technological advancement.

>Given infinite magic power you can construct any scenario using almost any moral system to produce an absurd result. Because infinite magic power makes things absurd. It isn't relevant. Now cuck off.
You're skirting the question. Morality exists independent of power unless you're playing the might makes right card. Even without infinite power just imagine a land that just got hit by a war, drought, and plague in succession or something so is heavily depopulated compared to its theoretical capacity. People would breed anyway but it'd take a few generations to get back on track, but by your logic I should force people to breed at a much higher rate because the country can theoretically support it for greater "actions".

>More infinite magic cuckshit. Not even responding after this.
The Candle of Invocation exists, although I think the exploit itself is closed. In other words, in 3.5e at least (which uses the same moral system), it is literally mechanically possible to become more or less omnipotent.

Ranger is one of the better options for it because hunters mark, and it's usable, but its never going to do the damage ranged or two-handed weapons can

>At level 20, you no longer take damage from your blood magic (So why are you a blood mage?) and, uhh, you can just heal infinitely anyway I guess?

It doesn't look too gamebreakingly bad if you remove the infinite AC armour and the healing from enemies and possible siphon-troll abuse sort of things.

Mystic seems functional. Artificer looks great if they fixed a certain few problems.

Really, I find UA to be much more servicable than any homebrew I've seen. The most decent thing I've probably seen is pugilist, and pugilist really isn't very interesting and doesn't bring much to the table other than allowing people to play some sort of strength monk / unarmed barbarian.

For the most part, AT already obsoleted thief rogue considering they have stealth aids, a hand that can use things as a bonus action and all those other goodies.
One of artificer's problems if that it gives automatic expertise to thieves' tools which shouldn't be a thing. Really, thief rogue could be made as an archetype of artificer, because it suffers from various problems such as being rather DM dependent to get good use of the bonus actions.

To be honest I don't know mystic very thoroughly, though, people seem to have gone from 'it's underpowered' to 'it's overpowered' to 'it's okay, just remove a certain overpowered feature or two'.

Also both mystic and artificer are interesting class ideas that aren't something like 'It's barbarian, but different' or 'it's wizard, but you hurt yourself'.

I'm DMing a campaign and I need a BBEG. I already have introduced him as a character (more or less), but I don't have stats for him. He's an orcish warchief who's supposed to be both a great warrior and a brilliant strategist (he will therefore need high INT or high WIS, preferably both. High CHA would be nice too). I also want him to have some techniques, skills or spells that allow him to take down multiple low level warriors at once. I can fudge stats, but what class/build would best fist this concept? I have no real preferences as long as it combines strong melee prowess with AoE attacks. Oh, and because this is the first time he's introduced he should be unbeatable (for now) so it doesn't really matter if certain skills that fit the character don't come into effect until higher levels, he can be level 10+.

>>
>>52636045
But I imagine that's really only because of the nature of Faust himself. Mephistopheles isn't a demon of power, he's a demon of knowledge, more or less. He showed up when Faust tried to solve a problem but didn't know how.
And anyway, reducing the Warlock to a walking quest dispenser sounds drab.

>>
>>52636051
This depends somewhat on the type of story you're going for. The big four archetypes of stories, none of which are exclusive, are:
1. Sandbox
2. Epic
3. Character-Driven
4. Event-Driven
To pull off the third, you need to write engaging characters, to make your players care about the characters and thus care about the campaign.
To pull off the second, you need to write an engaging setting, so your characters actually want to be heroes.
To pull off the first, you need both, but not necessarily an engaging plotline (although "background plot" always helps). To pull off the fourth, you need an engaging plot.
Obviously you want all of them if you can but play to your strengths.

>>52635928
AT has cantrips for at-will. Mage hand can do things as a bonus action, pretty much surpassing the bonus-action-to-interact when the mage hand can already do that at a distance. The AT then has booming blade and green flame blade, which means they'll actually be dealing more damage, too, if you can balance it right since you can't two-weapon-fighting with it. Then, spells such as mage armour can last an entire day.

Casting Mage Hand is an action. It only lasts for 1 minute. Hope you're precognitive. Maybe your character is autistic and cannot function without casting Mage Hand every waking minute. Then you're going to be slower because you're using your bonus action constantly to move the hand around to keep up with you instead of dashing.

No one playing a thief (or any other non-AT non-swashbuckler) optimally is going to go into melee range, so Booming Blade and Green-Flame Blade aren't advantages. The smart thief uses a ranged weapon, keeping himself out of trouble and opening up the possibility of Crossbow Expert and/or Sharpshooter. Snipers have an easier time granting themselves advantage for Sneak Attack.

AT has advantages, but don't pretend they have no downsides and outshine every other archetype at all times.

Thing about classics is how they're measured. Remembrance is important, but being consistently popular isn't. Generally it's either because it's "the best of the best", stuff people still remember after a hundred years, or because it had an immense impact on culture (something like, say, Kant is definitely qualified although most plebs have probably never heard of the Critique of Pure Reason). I don't think Harry Botter is qualified, although I feel like it's kind of unique - is there any other books about a literal magic high school? I don't read much stuff like it so I wouldn't know if it were a thing.
>>
>>52636349
And in that case the AT can also potentially use a hand crossbow. Sharpshooter really isn't necessary, though I suppose it's not a bad pick after you have 20 dexterity.

So, then, the AT can pick mage hand + some useful cantrips like shape earth / water, or whatever those elemental cantrips are. They can use long-lasting spells like mage hand and find familiar (Of course, they might not be able to take both of those spells at lower levels).

At level 3, all the thief has over them then is that they have a better climbing speed (Usually not very important, though an AT can take spider climb later) and being able to interact as a bonus. It's pretty easy to know when to expect combat and have a mage hand ready for combat, actually. You don't have to keep the mage hand there 24/7, just for the very short time every day you're in dangerous situations.
Then, the AT can also use the other cantrips, whatever they are for their utility. Acid splash could be used to melt through problem locks or items, mould earth could shape the landscape in preparation for a battle...

The thief needs a buff. Their key features come too late. Advantage on stealth is pretty okay and the extra turn is absolutely brilliant, but it's all too little too late. Use magic item is pretty DM-dependent, too.

Sharpshooter is for the range and cover-ignoring benefit, not the damage when a rogue takes it. Why in the world would you get up close to sneak attack when you could do it from 120 ft. with a hand crossbow or 600 ft. if you're proficient with a longbow?

I suppose you can tell combat is coming because you never get ambushed. Furthermore, there's never anything pressing you for time like the villain about to kill someone that absolutely will die if you take a turn to pre-cast before combat instead of running into stop the fucker from plunging the knife, sucking out the brain, lighting the fire, etc.

AT sacrifices action economy for versatility.

>Why would you get up close
Because prone, paralyzed enemies, etc. You may want to have the freedom to move within 5ft of them to do that. Advantage against prone enemies and autocrits against paralyzed enemies. Can't take advantage of those if you're at 120ft, in fact you'll have disadvantage against prone targets.
Also grappling and the like. Rogues can get expertise in athletics or maybe something else, and they might want to do something that requires getting close. Getting close to interact with something, an enemy, or whatever. Though I guess an AT doesn't need to be close because mage hand.

You're already fast, so you can easily hang around 30ft to 60ft range without any worries. Any further than that and your DM might need a bigger map sometimes just so you can stand 120ft away all the time when usually at that distance it really doesn't matter if you're at 60ft or 120ft since you could just run / disengage anyway.

Though the damage does have a use. If you sneak attack on your first hit, you can use the +10 damage on your second hit.

>Never get ambushed
You get ambushed sometimes, but it's not frequent enough to cause problems, and often ambushes happen in dungeons or places where you might be at least vaguely ready anyway. Also rogues can get expertise in perception.

Try having a quest where giant robots are involved something something lost civilization, and the final boss is a mecha but lead the players into discovering that they can summon giant mechas. .. you're pretty fast, so the rest of the party will be catching up while you've moved 60ft instead of 90ft this turn because you cast mage hand. You won't be in situations very often where you have to bolt it at max speed through a dungeon without time for preparation, unless your DM sets everything as a hollywood drama with 10 seconds to go on the clock every day.

And then, how are you going to stop that guy from plunging the knife in as a thief? You charge in, he stabs.
But the arcane trickster sends in an invisible hand along with, say, a familiar to together remove the knife before charging in.

AT doesn't sacrifice anything, thief is just better at one very fringe use. Not to mention, AT gets haste later on to allow them to sneak attack twice a round, or basically just abuse action economy more.

>You charge in, he stabs.
No, you and the villain roll initiative. If the PC goes first, he can try to stop the villain. The villain doesn't automatically stab because he doesn't have a readied action for "I stab this sacrifice in the heart as soon as the hero walks in the door" unless he has a diviner on staff. And if he does have a diviner on staff, he's an idiot for waiting that long to make his sacrifice.

>But the arcane trickster sends in an invisible hand along with, say, a familiar to together remove the knife before charging in.
The Mage Hand and the familiar aren't strong enough to take the knife out of someone's hand.

You're deflecting from the fact that Mage Hand has a cast time and costs part of your actions for a turn to control and move. Those can be disadvantages an AT deals with that nullify his advantages over other rogues. You've obviously never played with real time restrictions or you're just running with the AT meme.

One, that's not what that cap says. Two, the culture of /tg/ has shifted DRASTICALLY over time, so that's total bullshit. /tg/ circa '08 has only the faintest resemblance to /tg/ today. Three, demographics alone make the "everyone posting things you don't like has been here all along" argument impossible.
>>
>>52637212
That's not the argument I'm making, just that you should consider that it doesn't always have to be a "raid".

If he's waiting for you with the hostage, he'll already have it readied. He doesn't need to see you to ready the action.
If he wasn't waiting for you and it was a snap decision to grab the hostage, then sure, but in that case sneaking was never an option anyway.
However, if he rolls initiative first, you might decide to stand back and listen to what he has to say as you creep up your invisible mage hand on him that he can't see.

If he's making a sacrifice, then it's sounding pretty silly that you've arrived within 6 seconds of the ritual being completed.

>Mage hand and familiar can't take a knife out of someone's hand
Depends. If they're not gripping very hard, you could. A mage hand can pickpocket someone, so similarly if they're not holding very tight (They can't see anyone about to take it out of their hand, so they might not be holding it very tight) then you might be able to. Otherwise, you could possibly throw off their aim and they might not outright kill a hostage with one hit.

>Real time restrictions
Your time restrictions seem to be 'All fights take place within ~12 seconds or two rounds of bad shit happening' which is absolutely never the case. Sure, sometimes it happens, but there are plenty of situations that doesn't happen.
And those don't nullify the advantages. It would nullify the advantages if it actually took away their abilities. But it doesn't. It just means there are a few occasions other rogues can be better at things.
>>
>>52637180

Rate my magic weapon /5eg/:

It's a pistol, that is also an arcane focus.

It has one chamber, and that chamber can be used to store a spell if the player casts it while holding the gun.

The player can only store one spell at a time, and can't use the gun for any other spells like cantrips if a spell is stored in the gun.

Any spell that is stored in the gun disappears after 2 hours.

Only single target spells can be stored in the gun.

If the gun is empty, the player can instead choose to fire damaging cantrips through the gun, which adds 1d10 to the damage if they're cast in this way.

The bullets required to hold a spell in the gun are made of rubies worth at least 300g each, and they are used up upon releasing the stored spell.

Not sure about rarity yet, anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Sincerely, anon.

>T. Boring prude
>>
>>52637468
Mainly because that's what /tg/ actually was, pre-Nazimod.
>>
>>52637460
I don't really get it.

Wouldn't it be better as a thing that basically buffs the 'ready an action' action?
Say, you use the ready an action action, it doesn't use concentration but does consume the spell slot, except you can keep using your action to re-ready the action for while the spell is still in there, rather than losing the spell.

Otherwise I don't get the point of storing a spell unless you're a warlock that wants to spend money to essentially have an extra spell if they don't use it before a ... Thing.

Also +1d10 damage would be absolutely fucking ridiculous on an eldritch blast. I assume it's a one-time +1d10 like dragon sorcerer's level 6 only applies it to one damage roll.

Depends on how good your DM is
My sister when DM'ing used to stand on a cardboard box (she's light for her height) and start giving a speech about thick orc cock ramming the cute barmaid for about ten minutes straight, apparently off the cuff, if players kept lewding too far.
That was good enough deterrent and was funny (in an actually cringe way, not a meme cringe way) once in a while.
>>
>>52637509
No it wasn't, you fucker. I hate this revisionist bullshit.

Here's how it worked in the good part of the pre-nazimod days. You could post whatever you wanted, yes, because /tg/ was practically unmoderated for a long time. But the key difference between those days and later times is that /tg/ was, as a culture, very focused on D&D and 40k. Even when it was being off topic, things were talked about through that lens. He only real off topic threads were /v/ refugees talking about DF and the occasional FotM game like ss13 or xcom. Threads did get derailed, especially into politics, but not like they do today.

People could and did post porn, but people didn't have porn threads unless they were 40k (or much more rarely D&D) related. Most porn was just a passing request incentive or a thanks for something.
>>
>>52637585
I consider myself a closet degenerate, but it's undeniably clear that rampant lewdposting can derail threads entirely.
That's not a good thing.
>>
>>52637561
I miss the quests... If they were shit, they just got shunted off the board. If they weren't, they actually provided some content beyond generals and art threads.
>>
>>52637746
Mostly 40k.
>porn
Do you see porn posted here? I'm not seeing doujins or anything else. Do you forget we used to have a literal ERP thread?
20 posts of ""lewd"", so weak I hesitate to even call it that, is not a derail or cancer o anything else. It's a normal off-topic tangent, the type that makes imageboards actually good and worthwhile.
>>
>>52636456
>Acid splash could be used to melt through problem locks or items,
Isn't acid splash creatures only? Isn't your issue that you're theorycrafting and bending the rules to make the AT look better?
>>
>>52637827
Good thing I was responding to >>52637509 and not anything about your ERP circle jerking. Which, as an isolated incident, is a non-issue, much like a random post of porn in a non-porn thread wasn't an issue back when. I just don't trust people to contextualizes things that way anymore.
>>
>>52637950
>good thing I was responding to you, and not you
When I say "what /tg/ actually was" (i.e. a fucking containment board for leaking EMPRAH xD cancer all over the site), I mean that people didn't sperg out over isolated incidents like this thread uniquely does now.
>>
>>52638024
Except that's not at all what you were replying to. Or do you not at all know "everything is /tg/ relates" refers to?
>>
>>52638182
What it actually referred to (past tense) and what it is invoked against are different things.
>>
>>52638365
I'm not sure what you're saying at all. Are you saying detractors of the idea misuse it, or proponents? Regardless, the way it has been used in this thread is an accurate representation of the idea.
