I guess the ideal appearance for half-elves is being physically taller than humans but less taller than elves, human facial and bodily hair, human facial features but the eyes of elven genetics. And slightly more muscle mass than an elf

Male half-elves are fit with muscles but not overtly muscular, just something akin to attractive male models with muscles. They have facial hair; beards and moustache, but male half-elves' beards are always short and rugged, basically five o' clock shadows only.

Female half-elves have a quite fit like their elven parent but have the curves and meat of their human parent.

And ofcourse both male and female half-elves' ears are pointed, but not as sharp or pointy as an elf's and have a similar roundness as a human's.

Humans are usually short-lived compared to Elves. 70+ years is the lifespan of most humans even with magic. I say Elves are "almostly" immortal as in they age fast at first then they slowly age after like 20 years or so. For a magical reason, I guess Elves are the whole first creation and humans are the half versions of them.

Aside from being connected to the fey, how else have you depicted elves?

I'm considering depicting them as a strange sort of precursor of pale tall beings who intentionally cut themselves off from sleep and dreams to combat the Aberrations taking hold on the moon.

For both elves and half-elves, they mature at the same rate as humans and then basically stop aging in their 20s.

Half-elves live ~200 years, so they resume aging around 160-170 or so. Proper elves live ~800 years so they resume around 760.

I can think of other badass elves, including some from other Tolkein works or /tg/ own fiction. For all his bishie-ness, Legolas was nearly as badass, for instance, and Elsa here overthrew a three thousand year old religious stalemate in Dead Gods Quest.

There are other fairly badass elves.

Several of them in the Witcher novels and the games based on them, for instance.

Basically all of the Aen Elle, especially Eredin. The whole history of the Aen Elle is pretty badass.

Though the Aen Sidhe have some badasses too, like Iorveth.

And Inc forgotten realms, there are a handful of badass elves, like Gromph Baenre, and Fflar Melruth, and Seiveril Miritar is also pretty cool.

I'm sure other people have some other examples.

Question for DMs with elves in your setting. Do elf spirits in the afterlife still look like elves, or do they look different? Do they all become indeterminate wisps or sommat? For me, they generally look more or less the same.

Yep. The Witcher 3 is based on a book series by Andrzej Sapkowski. The books however, take heavy influence from European folk tales and stories. Many European folk tales overlap, for example the Botchling from Witcher 3 is based on the poroniec, which has a Scandinavian equivalent Myling and a Finnic equivalent "Ihtiriekko".
