After everything else being disappointments so far, my last hope was the Gods being good, or at least interesting.
But no, they aren't even that unique. They don't even have their "God of _" titles on their cards for fuck sake. We even know the titles from flavor texts of other cards, so there's no reason to not put them there.
I get that they said in the article they wanted to distance them from Theros Gods, but imo that's a really bad idea. The Theros Gods were perfect for God cards in general, and near completely changing the formula was not a good idea honestly.

Well from what I understand, the Theros gods are sentient dreams, and their personalities and behavior are shaped by what people believe them to be.

So Heliod could be a nice benevolent leader of the pantheon one moment, but the moment something goes wrong, people think "Oh no its heliod he's angry at us" he becomes the Heliod, whose angry at them. The gods might have even become tyrants just because the mortals felt they were tyrants, based off of Xenagos and his behavior.

Another weird thing about Theros gods is that the moment they "come into being" its as if they've always been. Xenagos was a god for like 3 months, but due to the weird collective unconscious of the dream world of nyx, its as if he has always been around since the beginning of time. And when he died, its as if he was always dead (after a brief adjustment period).

Garruk Wildspeaker essentially got the shaft because of a scene of him ready to beat the shit out of Liliana Vess for cursing him depicted on the card Triumph of Ferocity. People kneejerked and said it was depicting rape or the prelude to a rape. I guess that's just where their minds were, don't ask me, but regardless the would-be rapist had to go. He got made into (more of) a villain, showed up in one of the vidya games, and has been offscreen ever since. Funnily enough, Liliana is preparing a spell in the original art, ready to retaliate, and in the new art Garruk is standing over a bunch of smoldering corpses with a severed head in-hand, which is far more violent. Spoilered here is the hot rape itself. I don't really even like Garruk all that much, but it was a stupid controversy.
