They're more Dark Eldar than anything else. If anything's Tau it's the Cabal, which is really more Imperium than Tau, but less Imperium than the Hive which is Imperium+Necron with Tyranid aesthetics in certain areas.

The Cabal are more like Tau+Imperium because it's pretty obvious they have many client/slave races under their banner (the Psions, whatever the fuck the dog things and the red legion are).

If anything, Humans are eldar and Reef Born Awoken are the Deldar.

Vex are the Necrons and the Hive are Chaos especially when you consider the Shadows of Yor are well on their way to becoming minions of the Darkness
