Is it really ALL bad?
>>
>>52456701
Depends on the flesh. Stuff like is it aesthetically pleasing like your pic or is it ugly.
>>
>>52456701
Filling a museum room with transmuted former villains sounds like a fine campaign goal.

It's only bad when Stone to Mud is worded such that it is incompatible with Flesh to Stone, barring mad sculptors from being discount fleshcrafters.
>>
>>52456752
You ask the questions that I want to find the answers to.
>>
Flesh to Stone is one thing, but Stone to Flesh is another.

What happens if you cast Stone to Flesh on a boulder? In Nethack you just end up with a boulder of 'meat' that didn't seem to come from any animal, and yet still isn't considered a vegetarian friendly option.
>>
>>52456850
That's exactly what happens.

3.5:
>The spell also can convert a mass of stone into a fleshy substance. Such flesh is inert and lacking a vital life force unless a life force or magical energy is available. (For example, this spell would turn a stone golem into a flesh golem, but an ordinary statue would become a corpse.)

3.pf:
>The spell also can convert a mass of stone into a fleshy substance. Such flesh is inert and lacking a vital life force unless a life force or magical energy is available. For example, this spell would turn an animated stone statue into an animated flesh statue, but an ordinary statue would become a mass of inert flesh in the shape of the statue.
>>
>>52456850
On a statue you just get a corpse. Valid candidate for Magic Jar?

>>
>>52456744

Description says 'inert and lifeless fleshy substance' so I can't imagine it would be any good.

But who knows. maybe make it a point to seek out every different kind of stone to see what they taste like, and find the best ways to cook it as an adventuring geologist gourmand.
>>
>>52456888

Does this mean I can be an ethical necromancer by carving statues, turning them into dead bodies, then raising the bodies as undead?
>>
>>52457017
You're still releasing negative energy into the world and making the entire planet marginally more shit as a result.
>>
>>52457010
Oglaf's setting is pretty big on casual, public sex outside of maybe a handful of secret virgin cloisters.
It's more or less recovered from an apocalypse of slut mobs.
>>
>>52457042
That depends on the edition now.
>>
>>52457053
Necromancers aren't evil in 5e?
>>
>>52457017

What happens if I cast stone to flesh on a castle, and then cast animate dead?

What would I get?
>>
>>52457121
Jumped by the castle's owner.

Also a new Flesh Juggernaut.
>>
>>52457121
>You can affect an object that fits within a cylinder from 1 foot to 3 feet in diameter and up to 10 feet long or a cylinder of up to those dimensions in a larger mass of stone.

You would get a legion of horrifying flesh tubes
>>
>>52457095
That was not always true, but now it's more the source/origin of negative energy animating the dead.

Now they're just animated with a crude semblance of life, not specifically negative energy.

>>
>>52457559
I've seen a bronze vagina but I don't remember if it was in marble before. Probably not.
>>
>>52457151
The game still points out it's almost always only done by evil people, and if you let your upkeep slip that evil undead monster is going to bust out and start slitting up people. The undead monsters you make are still Evil.
>>
>>52457588
In the most technical RAW, Flesh to Stone makes the target into completely normal, nonmagical stone (if quirky in the fact that it can be Stone to Fleshed back to a living creature), and wouldn't be considered "worked" until someone takes a chisel to it.

>>52456888

That gives me an idea for a plot where the majority of the town is fed via rocks. It's a mining town/city where prisoners are sentenced to the mines where the unwittingly mine their own food and the food of the towns folk. Savvy players might notice the lack of livestock in the farms, with an exception of one with dairy cows and chickens under the shelter of the mountain.
>>
>>52458144
Wouldn't that make more sense for a dorf mine?
Where they have dwarven caster's whose job is to convert stone from the mines into food.
>>
>>52456999
i like you.
>>
>>52458174
No because the lord of the town owns the mines, the livestock farm, and the butchers. The other farms have trouble with predators killing their livestock, so the benevolent lord sends prisoners to work the fields for a modest tax in lieu of beasts of burden. It's not like the lord has some manner of control over the beasts, right?

What if the construct is ordered to do whatever the spirit within wants it to? You could potentially end up controlling a stone golem shaped like your old body able to run on autopilot if you need to focus on other stuff.

Why shouldn't cyberpunk and the Singularity happen in a world of magic, too?
>>
>>52457095
Mostly yes but not entirely. Animating a corpse is frowned upon but not Evil. So zombies and skeletons are okay I guess. Yanking a soul from beyond the veil and smashing it into a corpse to give it true unlife however, that's the good ol' perverting nature and the natural cycle Orcish worship it's always been.

And most undead are sentient, having souls.

Correction.
>flesh to stone
>stone shape
>stone to flesh.
Craft stonework is a part of the stone shape spell.
There is a trap that does exactly this called the faceless angel. Party member is turned to stone and gets their face smoothed over. They suffocate and die if you don't stone work their face back before you. stone to flesh then. If you dick up the stonework roll their new face becomes an inert mass of useless flesh resembling a face and they still die

Say you took a fat lady and made her skinny by removing part of her stomach, yeah? On stone to flesh, she's missing her gut. When you rearrange the mud that was someones face, those features are actually moving. resculpt someones face to be pretty and you could end up smearing lip-meat all across their face, and replacing their eyes with skin balls

Surely the stone remembers his original form. I mean, if I cut a flesh to stone person's finger off and then turn them back into flesh, they wouldn't suddenly just have a 4 digits in one hand, they'd have a bloody stump as if someone had ripped their finger off.

So that stunning woman would be as if someone had taken a blade and cut the fighter's body into the shape of a stunning woman.

The Fighter's body convulses, as this twisted wretch struggles to comprehend why they can't move, and why someone would do this to them, luckily they're in shock, and unaware of the unimaginable pain that they'd otherwise be feeling. The one silver lining to this unnecessarily brutal, and pointless death.

Because D&D happens in a post-Singularity future, and describes the incubation process for new sapient beings - this process culminates with the participant becoming one with the planes, the metaphysical essence of the entire setting, and in particular planes which best match their generalized ideals. Material Plane is kindergarden, Outer Planes are high schools and as you graduate you become indistinguishable from a metaphysical concept of some kind, contributing your unique understanding of various issues to an Alignment of your choice and experiencing the entirety of existence through it.

Magic, being a utility subsystem of this intelligent metaphysics, is of course capable of deriving viable and appropriate biology with a desired appearance, as long as it's even semi-realistic.

petrified Gelatinous Cubes are really useful as construction material, and a LOT cheaper to produce than manually cut stone blocks. i had a retired wizard who made a major fortune as a quarry owner; he could get you a castle fit for a king built at a price point fit for a baronet (warranty on castle does not cover use of mass-stone-to-flesh spells / scrolls on premises).

Yeah, stuck in a mortal, average person's perception of time. I seem to recall that it was some Kid Flash or equivalent who had killed someone important to the Flash.

Super fucked up on all sides.
>>
>>52493656
That's kinda what I liked about flash. He was somewhere between superman and batman in terms of ethics and morality. With Superman being the perfect boyscout shining light who always does what he feels is right and Batman being morose and almost hateful, adhering to a code he has strictly defined in order to stay good.

Whereas Wally was closer to just being a normal person, he didn't treat every encounter as if they're a chance to further define his morality. He just does the best he can. Just so happens he's one of the most powerful men in existence. His judgement and actions always seemed far more human. Whether taking care of his villains because they're honestly not that bad, or going fucking apeshit in order to protect the ones he loves. The Flash feels like a better person than most heroes because it always feels like he's making a choice to be good, and it's not just a given like it is with every other hero.

Pathfinder, obviously
What other edition would let you commit such degenerate acts?
>>
>>52516363
Vampires wouldn't work with this set up
The spells involved wouldn't allow it

Vampires wouldn't put up with this kind of treatment unless you were powerful enough to use command undead on them reliably
>>
>>52519696
Pathfinder's versions of the spells are worded expressly to prevent this sort of degeneracy, surprisingly.
>>
>>52519841
Explain?

You can mold a pefect statue inside and out using clay
You can turn that clay into stone
You can then turn that stone into flesh
It's not a person but degenerates will still fuck it.
A skeleton inside it would provide some structure for it
Animate dead would make it ... well animate
>>
>>52520247
>You can then turn that stone into flesh
Pathfinder's stone-to-flesh doesn't magically make skin, bones and organs like 3.5's does.
It just gives you a pile of lifeless liverwurst.
It's expressly soulless, so animate dead is out. At best you could turn it into some sort of meat golem.

And Pathfinder's stone-to-mud excludes worked stone, like statues, so you can't turn a person to stone and reshape them to your perverse whims.
>>
>>52456999
Excellently done sir.
>>
>>52520527

animate dead still works because it's not living flesh
a corpse doesn't have a soul either
no where in the rules does it state that the object being animated must have had a soul it simply must have an anatomy that matches something real, in this case a human

Not using stone to mud read mud to rock

Cast veil to make them appear, feel and smell like regular people
>>
>>52520527
animate dead makes mindless soulless undead
Souls aren't a requirement

CG was still a relatively new tech back when Final Fantasy X was released. The director wanted to test the abilities of the cutscene team, so he supposedly pushed the character designer to give a character (Lulu) a skirt made ENTIRELY of fucking belts. Obviously these had to be animated and rigged individually for each scene, a torturous and lengthy process.

The cutscene team did animate it once during her introduction, just to prove they could. Albeit she was basically standing still at the time, it's still damn impressive.

Then they got back at the director by never having a shot below her waist EVER AGAIN. In a 100+ hour game. During group action scenes, she's always just a little bit off-camera. There are a few scenes where she straight-up teleports between shots because fuck you, I don't get paid enough to animate 77 fucking belts!
>>
>>52521083
Animate dead doesn't work because the liverwurst was never alive at any point.
It's not dead, it's inanimate, and it expressly requires a donor soul to animate.
>>
>>52521264
Animate dead doesn't state anywhere that it requires a soul
It's lifeless flesh of course it can be animated

There's nothing in the rules or the spell descriptions to support your claims
>>
>>52521297
Stone to Flesh specifies the flesh can't be rezzed.
>>
>>52521498
But the skeleton inside it can be
>>
>>52521498
>"This spell restores a petrified creature to its normal state, restoring life and goods. The creature must make a DC 15 Fortitude save to survive the process. Any petrified creature, regardless of size, can be restored. You can affect an object that fits within a cylinder from 1 foot to 3 feet in diameter and up to 10 feet long or a cylinder of up to those dimensions in a larger mass of stone."

I don't see that anywhere
