See this, /tg/? yeah?
This is the map I made for my setting, a long, long time ago
It was made using MSN paint.
I'm revisiting and revising my setting, and I decided, while I like certain parts of the land, I want to redo it. And also make a map that doesn't fucking suck dick.
So, /tg/, are there any good...like, map-making software or applications out there?
In lieu of that, post the shittiest maps you have ever made, because goddamn I can't be alone.
(Also because sometimes badly executed shit can be good at least in thought or theory.)
Here's a shitty map that I drew for my DM. It just pushed it out in 5 minutes because it helped me organize my backstory better.
I just read tutorials on the internet and draw all of my maps. Some of them are decent, but fuck if they don't take forever to get done. Especially cities.

Hexographer
<This is what it looks like when I go overboard with the greebling for even my standards.

Fuck bud that actually looks...not bad compared to mine

See from afar, it looks great. Zoomed up, wow does it looks...very...well, difficult to look at and confusing.
I like to use the dice-on-paper method then scan it into an image.
Empty your dice bag onto a sheet of paper, trace around the dice clumps to find your coastlines, then assign terrain based on the #'s on the dice.
>20's = major cities/strongholds, 1's = plains, etc.

I never considered that before

Any other programs on sites?
Go to inkarnate.com its a map maker and its dope

Well it was dope. Til they decided to "upgrade" it by removing half the existing content and replacing it with more detailed but somehow less readable content that is a clear step down from what it was before.

Any else?
Also how would I go about measuring distance and such?
