They're bad, but Red Dragons are the sterotypical dragon, going by D&D, and are the most common of the lot, next to Blues which are more desert prone, and at least they don't fuck up local ecosystems like every other kind of dragon with some kind of innate ability or the like.

Also, Old Snarl for example, is kind of the prime Dragon Dragon, not evil enough to be unlikable and lawful enough to be socialable, a force to be reconed with and a danger, but more akin to a force of nature opposed to anything else.
