It's the fact that I always see them with the "viking runes" that are literally just used as a 1-1 english alphabet the write "Windstorm Darkblood" on the side or some stupid shit that really bothers me.

I'm a huge fan of the anglo-saxon sword, but those "seax" things look like something a 14 year old would buy at a flea market.

Yes, it's a historical/pre-historical weapon. Common to Northern Europe, not just 'vikings'. Seax applies to a whole range of blades of various shapes, from pocket knife to sword size. Possible ancestor of the falchion.

That's a matchlock, not a flintlock.

The string is on fire and the lock drops the burning end into the powder chamber when you pull the trigger. You need a fuckton of string because it's on fire and burns away over time.

This is the 37" practical blade on a home made hilt pommel and handle. Its my HEMA/SCA workhorse rapier, and is about 5 years old. $70 for a a well made, well tempered blade with great flex. The nail head tip is forged into the blade, and the balance and taper are quite fine. A little whippy, but I prefer it that way, as I tend to hit hard and dont want to hurt my partner.

Hanwei also makes some decent low-end historic clothes and shoes, and good bucklers.

You could thrust but there's no guard so your fingers might slide onto the blade.

They weren't primarily weapons, but rather everyday tools and status symbols.

There were militarised versions, though, like the longseax and the broadseax, and they're both awesome. I also really like that they're single-edge blades, too.

It depends on what you refer to.
If you mean the Gunhammer in particular, then no, it is just as crazy as it was, a hammer that gives small gunpowder explosions when it hits the monsters, it only gets some better animations on it now.

But if you mean weapon and monster designs and movesets, then yes, things did get a lot crazier.

You now have snakes that coil around the entire stage, huge whale dragons that swim through sand and that you kill using cannons and balistas, huge spiders that make nests on caves, eat dragons and wear their hide, and the last game has a jet propelled dragon and a praying mantis that uses silk strings to puppeteer a giant mecha made of stone and garbage it collected.

You now have a more fluid moveset for each kind of weapon and a few super moves.

And the number and variety of weapons skyrocketed, you got your usual stuff, huge ass swords, lances and so on but you also have dual wielding Chainswords, trick weapons that change forms like the Switch Axe and Charge Blade and, pic related, a Rocket-Propelled-Drill-Hammer.
