Never got to taste the simple pleasures of Oldcrons, as such I don't hate the Newcrons.

I miss the MSS, but the Reanimation Protocols are objectivly better but less thematic.

Reanimation protocols are objectively better, but almost every army is objectively better than they were in 3ed.

Back in 3rd, a space marine was 15 points, had nothing but a bolter and power armor (you had to buy grenades for extra if you wanted them) and had no chapter tactics rules

Now they're 14 points, and come with all kinds of extra shit for free.

Funnily enough, the armies that are weakest now, nids and orks, are probably outclassed by their 3ed counterparts.
Nids definitely. Their basic troops are arguably about the same in terms of effectiveness for cost, but their monstrous creatures in 3ed were rape machines.

Orks are a bit of a closer fight, but since 3ed orks avoid the >I2 meme, I'd say they're better.

Space Marines / IG .... you tell me. the only IG player (he also plays SM) I know helps run his family's gun empire and loves them while the other guy who exclusively plays SM (black templars) who is obsessed about nazis and WW2 germans in general. Both great people though.

Relatively chill but only views rules as benefits them specifically. Will argue about cover saves and insists $400 dollars was spent on Riptides because they look cool, but never paints them.

Has played for ages, but just not when Eldar lost a lot. Insists every other faction is broken in some way.

Doesn't care about your rules. Realized that tons of poison shots works and will let math decide the match for him.

I find it quite the way around, not only with Chaos but with fluff basased choosing of an army in general. For example, I like Chaos because of all the "worshipping the Dark Gods" thing, the rituals, the black magic, all that. Samy as many other Chaos fags. But those same Chaos fags are usualy non-believers at least, all the way up to fedora tipping euphoric atheist fucks.

What you do with your games during your free time is usually not what you do in real life, with all the real consequences. I bet most box closed corporate cogs would choose Orks as their race if they'd knew about all the insanity and randomness.

I feel you. Started with Blood Angels because flying and melee sounded cool, pretty much only played against my best friend, who played Orks,and started at the same time as me. It got to the stage where it was just sad because I'd be zooming around with a 10-man assault squad with 2 flamers, an epistolary with the S10 melee power and the +D3 attacks power, a sanguinary priest, and a chaplain. The flamers and bolt pistols killed on average 8. Then 30 attacks from the marines at S5 rerolling to hit, killing on average about 13. The chaplain would do about 3 in, the priest also 3, the librarian 4. An entire boyz squad wiped out utterly without even getting the chance to hit back. The Epistolary's kill count remained the same against meganobz and even motherfucking warbosses. I mean sure, this deathstar nonsense was no way to run a competitive list but it just fucked up everything my friend could throw at it.

Eventually started moving more in the direction of generalist armies (even though pretty much every battle I fight is still against orks) just so that it wasn't so unfun for him anymore. Because even an ork player will be a little bit sad when his 120 strong green tide is wiped out piecemeal by a single squad 30 orks at a time over the course of 4 turns, without that squad taking any casualties.

Tau tanks skim, most of them are incapable of properly flying more than a few meters off the ground consistently, depending on the world. They don't have the height-gains to be considered air support really.

The ones I have met range from chill, to massive spergs. Chill dudes tend to be ones who play canon chapters, while the biggest sperg around has a fucking 1d4chan meme chapter, and I cannot fucking stand to be in the fucking store when he is around there. He is annoying as hell.

I have met 3, one was a kid who was pretty chill, the other two were 20-30 somethings and I had good discussions with both of them about the flaws of the nids and how to fix them.

I like battlesuits because of starship troopers and I used to be with mechanized infantry when I was in the army.

I'm sorry, I actually enjoy loosing. I literally build my lists for fluff. I love it when my guard tanks scatter onto my foot sloggers. I love it when my tau gunners are over run and my suits fail their moral because their drones are dead.

Most of my favourite memories of 40k are my own units exploding or fucking up wonderfully.

I like the tau for their attempt use use limited war tactics in a universe which demands total war. I think it's cute.

I love the guard for their refusal to stop. Even when they kill more of their own than the enemy do.

Skitarii: chose this faction for the middle ground between IG and SM, likes cyborgs and watching people flounder to fight a faction they probably didn't know existed until now. Probably hooked on the faction by dunecrawlers.
