Gotta remember a whole lot of planets went with him, and the traitors were also significantly bumping their recruitment and indoctrination up in the years leading up to it. And then right before the war broke out, horus played his cards to do the most damage he possibly could to the legions that weren't swayed to his side.

So you've got the loyalists outnumbered at istvaan III, the loyalists outnumbered at istvaan V, the loyalists outnumbered in ultramar, the loyalists outnumbered at earth... pretty much every major battle in 30k plays out in a similar fashion. When the sides were just about to even out, Horus did his gambit to try and kill the Emperor and consolidate his forces in the palace before reinforcements could arrive.

First attempt at my iron hands. First marine I've ever painted.

There's obviously some problem areas, I've got some vision and hand problems so having the image blown up like this lets me see how much I need to clean up around the rivets and some other places, but I think it'd be fine as tabletop standard right now.

The general colour choices are good (lens coloured and with a white dot, 3 different shades of steel etc), but the silver is messy in parts.and that overspill of colour in between the eyes.

Go over the black areas and it'll look great. Maybe some black wash in the grooves of the fingers as well.

The Thousand Sons and Magnus are what first got me into 40k back in 2007 when the fluff wasn't as shit as nowadays. Then as I read all the stories on both legions I started to like the enmity between them and how Prospero left a shadow in both of them.

Spartans are commonly used because they're available to a termie deathstar as a DT, and have extra space in it.
Would Caestii and Kharybdii be more widespread if they were too DTs for units of more than 5 termies? Would it even be a sane thing to do, considering one would deepstrike a whole deathstar in place turn one and the other is a flying tank with a AoE melta?

A Kharybdis is a bitch of a huge model, though.

On the personal I think it's cool and if you want to you should have it. You can have a fun list without needing to utterly optimize every single point in it.
Just understand, anons here are pointing out a truth:
While the CB is indeed better than a volkite charger, a plasma blaster is better and you don't want Lerneans for tactical options. You want them to bash skulls in WHILE also shooting volkites.

The enemy has to reach your squad, and it's not as if they were wielding AP2 at initiative (I'm watching you, Suzerains). But the saboteur accomplishes his task by sheer dint of existing. He just arrives and gives you a Penetrating AP 2 hit of your choice.
