I swear I hate the D20 system's schizophrenic attribute and die variance system, and general lack of lateral thought options for non-caster characters at low levels without liberal magical or alchemical tools.

I mean I'm in a Rise of the Runelords campaign right now where I foolishly decided I'd play a rogue instead of a spellcaster at first level. It's been six encounters now (three where I started from stealth against an opponent who neither saw me nor expected combat at all) and I've managed to hit a flatfooted AC a grand total of once.

Also so you know flanking also lets you use sneak attacks. Coordinate with your other martials. A rogue alone is a rogue who is much weaker due to no flanking.

Also if it becomes a huge issue get a familiar and make it a mauler so you have a flanker buddy with you, two feats will net you one.

Also feinting if you invest in it will let you make people flat footed.

Because if you compare them to investigators, bards, inquisitors, investigators, alchemists and like 7 other different classes they all basically do the same thing, except rogues don't get 6th level casting, which basically means they're pure shit. All more or less 3/4 bab skill monkeys with some maybe slightly situational augmented combat ability.

Especially in a system where even having 4th level casting (let alone 6th) is a massive fucking boon to a character because magic is like ridiculously fucking good to have even a little bit of.

Rogues and Ninja's should be getting 6th level spellcasting or something similar.

A mix. Newer players get a little more freedom in choice, and the older players try to build something to both have fun and fill in a gap. Though, we don't watch each other closely. For instance, I ended up rolling a kinetic chirurgeon in a current PF game, since we needed a healer and I've wanted to try out an occult class for a while. It's not the best class ever, but I do alright, and we have good fun. only issue is our resident 'That Guy' always makes somewhat minmaxy damage dealers and never interacts with the party outside of combat. GM let him in to be nice and he's sort of fouled a bunch of stuff up, but fights are still pretty good, and outside of combat the campaign is lots of fun. That Guy sorta sours the in-combat experience for the newer guys at times

First off, The Ancient Magus Bride is great and that's a good picture to use. Second, this is the kind of app I like.

THE GOOD: It feels like a level 3 app - that's just fresh out of rusty dagger shanktown, and still could bite it if hit by the wrong enemy. The Character hasn't achieved great things, but could easily lead to it - (the alternative being has achieved significant things but at cost). Amber has a solid gimmick for noticeability, and her backstory produces a surprising personality that nevertheless makes sense. And there's potential for both innocence and bravery, and also further corruption. It's a very good mix.

THE BAD: Again, there's really no glaring problem here. Minor compatibility issues with some more kill-happy characters, but I think that'd provide more roleplaying opportunities than anything else.

I haven't settled on art yet because I really like the idea of a Black Dragon patron, but none of the images I have really convey a Black Dragon feel (for instance, that one you posted would be more of a Red for her look or Green for the scene, right?) She'll be a dark-haired woman, tentatively from the Gronzi Forest until I dream up something better.
I do actually like that name; there is enough Iobarian-ism and Iobarian pedigree in the area to justify wacky Gaelic/Celtic names, right?

Wacky Gaelic/Celtic names would be Kellid, actually, who are known for red and black hair. Iobaria is STALKER post-apocalyptic Russia, so you'd be getting more Tatiana or Katrina than Saoirse or Branwen.

Ooh, that's a good one. Branwen! It's a name that literally emphasizes her black hair, and is both lovely and can be associated with a snappy wit!
