Minus 5 points of Munchkin Loot Letter, you just bought the worst rendition of Love Letter imaginable
>>
I hope it's bait.

My collection:
Game of Thrones BG (2nd edition, the strategic one, not the LCG)
Rex
Twilight Imperium
Diplomacy
Space Hulk (the old one)
Resistance
Catan (bleugh) + Knights & Cities and Seafarers, which makes it a little bit decent at least
Race for the Galaxy
Eclipse
Condottiere

I mostly have the "heavy" stuff while my friends have fillers and "lighter" games.

So when exactly is the "offensive card games" meme going to die.
>>
>>52352028
When normies learn to play drunken Diplomacy. Which will raise mortality levels among them.
>>
>>52351695
I envy you.
Talisman we play digitally,
CAH Is lovely to giggle and kill time while the player whose character died is making another one.
X-COM is great but I sperg out if I can't get it going well. AKA, dark room, X-COM flags and wallscreen showing the app.
>>
>>52352028
Cards against humanity is one of the worst games I've ever played, but I own it because normies like it and that's 9/10 of people I hang out with.
>>
>>52351695
I own a box of Millenium Blades, a borg cube for star trek attack wing, and that's it.

also, here's my (and roommate's) collection. favorite by far is Gloom.
>>
>>52352088
You have all the expansions? Because expansions usually prevent CAH from becoming old.
>>
>>52352142
yes, but I just don't enjoy it. The same thing happens every time I play: first, someone is going to leave the game because it got too offensive (normally, this is the person who says they can't be offended), and second, I'm very good at choosing cards and eventually people will actively not choose my cards to prevent me from winning.

also, the game is just not that clever. most of the cards make me roll my eyes, while everyone else is giggling about how "offensive" it is.

>>
>>52352206
You know you're not supposed to know whose cards are whose, right?
>>
>>52352264
it's one thing to lose, it's another thing entirely to be shut out of a game by friends because you're "too good"
>>
>>52352206
>people actually getting offended at CAH's tryhard bullshit to the point that they leave the game
I've played this game with some pretty big normies and this has never happened.

Also, in what way are you "too good" at the game?
>>
>>52352407
i dunno, maybe i just play with stupid people. most of them will play random cards, i guess whatever they think to be the funniest in their hand. i try to at least have the two cards make some sense.

>>52352311
and yes, my group will start that way, but by the time i'm two or so cards away from winning, my friends will begin telling each other which cards they put in so they can identify mine.

also happens with Risk, but normally much faster. as soon as they see that i'm actually putting thought into it and creating a plan, an alliance is formed to get me out in a round or two.
>>
>>52352771
>CAH
>Risk

I don't know if I should be mad at you or pity you. Either way, stop playing garbage games.

You cool with shelf posting?
>>
>>52352206
>>52352407
Likewise. I've played with my literal grandmother and even she would react to the worst cards with an eye roll rather than leave the table.

I can't imagine the level of powerpuff you would have to be to actually leave the table during a game.
>>
>>52353954
>Eoris
>RIFTS

This is the /tg/ equivalent of cutting yourself. Put the knife down anon!
>>
>>52354343

RIFTS I got because I was lured by the premise of the setting only to find out the rules were a clusterfuck nightmare. Plus I got it at the last day I visited my high school era LGS before going out to college, so I wanted a memento.

My only excuse for Eoris is I got the whole set for cheap, and I am a sucker for a good deal.
>>
>>52352206
That's why CAH needs a dedicated dealer that is impartial that can tally the scores and hide that someone is about to win from the players. The only people who should know if someone is about to win is the soon-to-be winner and the dealer.
>>
>>52354343
>>52354412
RIFTS is the most amazing fucking thing ever, while also being hot garbage. Perfect for a shelf

> "Hey guys let's play CAH!"
> everyone plays the over the top raunchy cards, the "funny the first time it is played but never again" cards, the "reddit" cards, or any combination thereof and all of them are too detailed and specific to be broadly applicable
> you put actual thought into your cards and aim for actually dark and offensive answers
> the former, shallow stuff nearly always wins
> game ends
> "Wow we sure are terrible people."
>>
>>52361341
People that think they are "good" at CAH are almost always people like yourself that are actually not very good at all. The secret to scoring points is provoking a visceral reaction in the judge of the round. It's more a game about knowing your friends and provoking them than trying to work out "dark and offensive answers."
>>
>>52358528
All of them?
>>
>>52357413

Like the stuff involving climaxes and shit.

I'm only planning to get WS because the Persona 5 deck is coming in English
>>
>>52362586
This, all Apples-to-Apples 'judge'-based games are more about 'know your audience' than 'the most clever option wins'.
>>
>>52357413
Rifts is basically what happens when 1st edition D&S gets rewritten by someone who really loves late 80s anime and Cannon sci-fi movies. Also, that someone is terrible at math and thinks game balance is some sort of criminal conspiracy.

The Savage Worlds edition is better, but a bit blander, and was adapted by someone who appears to hate power armor.

I barely have a collection because my coworkers and friends tend to buy them all. But I do have far to many sets of Munchkin (and plan to buy more), Emergents: Genesis, Forbidden Island and Ruckus Goblin Army Game (thank you Salvation Army). Not including generic like Monopoly, Clue, etc. that I grew up with.

What's your opinion on that game? Mine came in the mail yesterday and I'm waiting to get it to the table

Also, is that Dungeon Roll next to Agricola and Leonardo Da Vinci?
>>
How's Joking Hazard?
>>
>>52370280
It is enjoyable. You need a group that doesn't mind attacking each other in games, because there is tons of it in Innovation. Stealing cards from each other, destroying played cards, even stealing or discarding points the opponents have scored already. My two complaints with it are that it uses weird terms for common actions, like splay for overlaying cards and dogma referring to using the actions on cards and the other is that the end game cards are extremely powerful and can completely end the game or make it drag on a lot longer.

>>52375908
I am not a big fan of JAB. It is really fast paced and hectic. The concept is solid, but I think it could be translated to a video game better than it was a card game. Also there is a really broken strategy you will probably figure out that breaks the game, but if you and your opponent just agree not to use it then that is not a huge deal.

And yea that is Dungeon Roll. It is the mimic chest version from backing it on kickstarter. I have been burnt on video games and don't back them anymore, but I have a 100% success record of backing tabletop games so far, so I will keep doing it until I get burnt there too.
>>
>>52370148
The basic game is good. During the campaign they had it set up where you could play it with the creators on a virtual table top. I played Chogoking vs Ogun in my game.
>>
>>52372561
Are the various versions of Munchkin cosmetic?
