Hugh the Huge, a very big human warrior ToB is fun. Other titles for him: the Dumb, the Savant, He Who Fucks Unmentionable Horrors a joke where he was caught in what could be construed to be an embarrassing position with a spider person assassin who had disguised themselves as a courtesan, and Savior of Little Bogton, having held off a small invading force of orcs singlehandedly on a bridge over a small ravine.
Chòu Niúròu, Minotaur Monk. Favorite 4e character, monks are a helluva fun class, name means smelly beef in google translate chinese.
And a few dozen more that ive forgotten.

Basically, for naming I look through a fuckton of literature for names to steal, look up names of ancient peoples from different cultures, random sounds for certain monster races, or create names from various jokes translated into different languages. Also random name generators are good to use too.

My favorite character as far as names go for instance was a happy go lucky undead doctor named Inglor Dandrade, because I thought that sounded like an intimidating name. Depends on where they're from. If we're playing in a permutation of Earth, I'll generally pull a culturally-appropriate name out of a hat. I try to avoid picking based on meaning, though--this isn't Phoenix Wright, where every murderer is named Riley Geeltay.

If it's a fantasy setting, well...the thing about having an enthusiastic linguist and programmer in the group is that she can punch in some phonology information and generate a list of 100,000 sample morphemes and combinations in a matter of minutes. It's pretty common for the DM to hit her up with the kind of sounds they're looking for (e.g. "I want it to sound like a mixture of Manx and Amazigh") and then present the players with a list of a hundred or so names, along with a guide to naming conventions.
