We all like to laugh at the silly and cringey stories we see on this board. But when it comes to actually playing in your own games, /tg/, please:

Don't ask yourself if it's magical realm, ask yourself if everyone is having fun.

So is this cropped porn?

Inquiring minds want to know.
>>
>>52294673
Pretty sure it is, I recognize the artist.

No, it's not, though the guy has drawn porn before and both the manga in question and the art he draws of the characters outside of it gets pretty saucy at times.

Anyway, the artist is Hamada Yoshikazu and the source is Tsugumomo.

Thanks, which chapters have the saucy bits?

>>52295161
Just because you're on /tg/ doesn't mean you have to be desperately, pathetically thirsty 24/7.
>>
>>52296857
They're sprinkled around. I mean, the author, by his own admittance, goes into lewd withdrawal if he puts out too many exposition and story focused serious chapters in a row.
The bonus chapters are a good place to look generally.

Fair enough, I was bonerposting. But apart from the frequent lewds, it's entertaining and /tg/-ly inspiring as well.
Making me want to write sentient/haunted non-combat items into my setting ...
Possibly even with an alternate saucy humanoid form

I've actually found that ERPers make for some of the most satisfying groups to roleplay with, even or epsecially when we're not doing hardcore ERP. My theory is that because most ERP necessarily involves a certain degree of interactions and relationships between characters. Combine that with the atmosphere of a fanservicey game, even a really tame, softcore, cutesy one, and you're in for a lot of fun. Your characters bounce off one another in ways that would be awkward elsewhere but just feel natural and enjoyable in a context like that. As cringey and faggy as it may seem, there's nothing in roleplaying quite like using your characters to bully one another in the /jp/ sense of the word "bully".

This kind of reminds me of those long sexual fantasy posts with Complicated Narratives on /d/ -- people who say that /tg/ isn't /d/ lite have never been to /d/.

This,

The only people I've found to actually care about character's personalities and story have been from ERPs. Nothing builds emotional attachmemt to a character like vicarious love making I guess.

Its magical realm.
Everybody signed up for it.
The only times somebody isn't having fun is if the dicegods are playing denial game.

If I can be the contrarian faggot - I understand sprinkling a little fetish into characters or settings can do a lot to make them more attractive to their players or GMs, or add an excuse to think creativity to justify such things. As long as I don't come to the game fifteen minutes early to find the GM masturbating over how the sorcerer's going to mind control the whole party, I don't mind if it makes my game more fun.

But ERPers that I have met have generally been shallow and a little too personal - it's easiest to enjoy something sexual when you're self-inserting, rather than playing an entirely different character with their own fetishes, after all. And once you start including sex - in anything - it's hard to stop. The campaign to stop the lich will become a romantic drama over which party member is fucking which and why, because that'll become all the group really cares about.

And on the other end of the spectrum, I've been in games where the GM is openly into lewdness, tries to encourage it among party members, and...it just doesn't work. Something falls flat. No one's really interested or willing to put themselves out there, even if just about everyone is willing to share porn and may even ERP. You can't force or gently encourage this sort of thing - you either have to have the lewdness, or don't have it at all. I think for the average player, it's too much of a shift in tone.
>>
>Tfw I found a player who shares the exact same fetishes as I do through games
>>
>>52301395
It is a matter of luck with the players, just like in non-lewd games.

Thoughless "just sex anything" players are essentially the equivalent of a brainless murderhobo, and are just as common.

Lewd games are loads of fun, but you still need to hit the right wavelength for it, otherwise game is going to die for quote a bunch of various reasons.
>>
>>52302033
That makes a lot of sense, but when >>52298652
says what he says, he makes it sound like ERPers are all some of the best players to grace this good earth, and ERPing makes great roleplayers out of people. Maybe it's just phrasing, but it bothers me.

If I'm going to be essentially going through the same process with finding good not-lewd players as I would lewd players, why would I chose lewd over not-lewd? You could argue the reverse invalidates my question, but it's easier to find good not-lewd players because that's what most people advertise as and look for.
>>
>>52294302
That's some good advice, cute anime girl!
>>
>>52302382
A bit of anecdotal bias, a bit of preference, a bit of actual facts.

I myself actually have the same anecdotal evidence: majority of people I got into lewd games with were very chill and engaging, but I realise that I was lucky and having a look at f-list's tabletop channels shows that shitters present.

But, once you're setting up kinky lewd game and have aired up all of your most shameful fetishes, it creates a quick filter based on reactions
>"Ok, nobody else likes your XYZ so pls don't bring it up." - "Alright, I'll have my fun with ABC"
or
>"Oh eew gross how can you like XYZ, get out reeee!"/"No! Everybody must let me have my XYZ!"
which shows who's chill people and who is not.

Of course that all is not unique to lewd games, its just that lewd games have it as a ground baseline to work.

>If I'm going to be essentially going through the same process with finding good not-lewd players as I would lewd players, why would I chose lewd over not-lewd?
Personal preferences. Ability to explore concepts that would be weird in non-lewd games.

Lewd are just an additional way to explore plots and characters. (And for lewd game to work it needs to remain /additional/ way rather than one and central way.)

> but it's easier to find good not-lewd players because that's what most people advertise as and look for.
If you're a GM and wanting players, then getting some is going to be ridiculously easy in either case, and they'll be same mix of 95% of everything being shit.

Being a player and finding a GM for a lewd game is harder due to lower popularity though, yes.

>>52303007
tldr: there are some advantages, but >>52298652 guy is hyperbolic
>>
>>52294302

If everyone is having fun then it's not magical realm.
Magical realm is by definition spamming your fetish to the detriment of others' enjoyment.
If everyone is having fun it's just perving out with friends.
>>
>>52296857
All of them.
>>
>>52302382
The advantage is that the lewd games are more polarised.
There isn't going to be a boring dredging which you're not sure you dislike enough to drop and go find something else.

It will either be wonderful funtime, or you discover the shitness early and bail out unquestionably.
>>
>>52303544
I wish I had friends I could perv out with.

I have got this guy in my game

He's a great rper, and always contributes, even when his big dumb brute character doesn't really. He quips, and we all laugh, it's good times.

But I get the subtle undertone... I know he wants to type out railing the party elf until her ass looks like an Arby's sandwich crossed with a megaphone...

Bad anon. Bad!
>>
>>52306189
But that also means that you never might have a game become a bit better over time. Is it likely? No, if there are definite problems at the beginning and those aren't fixed, the game quality will never improve. But if it's just boring or listless, the game might still have a chance of coming into its own through some interesting battles or stuff that builds character and creates motivation.
>>
>>52310124
It can develop. It just starts developing from an already engaging point, rather than from mediocrity.
>>
>>52302382
Being the anon who made that post, I guess I should expand a little more by saying that one of the advantages of playing with ERPers is that they probably won't be murderhobos who are just there to smash shit... of course, they also might just end up being rapehobos who are just there to smash shit.

So yeah, there are good players and bad players who ERP just like there are good players and bad players who don't. But one key difference is that ERPers are far less likely to have rollplaying among their bad habits.
>>
>>52306385
That's what /tg/ is for
>>
>>52302382
Depends on the group, ERP can heavily encourage RPing, but it can also discourage it

How would you handle this relationship? Have another player control the Tsukumogami or just have them as NPC's. I can see the latter working for Exorcists who keep their objects sealed, but if you get into the relationship Kazuya has/had with Kiriha and now with the flute, there is a lot of interaction going on.
>>
>>52318961
I haven't seen the source material, but it sounds like you're talking about sentient weapons. I would say there are three ways to handle it,
>1. Let the player play both characters
But frankly that's more than a bit boring.
>2. Use it as an NPC
It's another companion for the character, nothing out of the ordinary.
>3. Let another player do it.
I like this idea the best for whatever reason, but you should think about how boring that might be for the player being the sword. Make sure to find ways they can have an impact on the game, maybe rolling to activate certain magical effects and the like. And of course make sure to listen to everyone involved (and actively seek out their feedback), and don't be too offended if they decide they want to roll up a flesh and blood character. Maybe take inspiration from the end of Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the send off.
>>
>>52294302
>Don't ask yourself if it's magical realm, ask yourself if everyone is having fun.
This, if everyone's enjoying it, does it matter even if you're something like playing furry diaper vore fest?
>>
>>52319460
>4. When every character has a sentient weapon, every player plays a wielder and somebody else's weapon.
Some players may find it challenging, of course, but it is still generally workable,
>>
>>52322500
Also applicable to everybody has a pet, a familiar, or a summoned ancient hero.
>>
>>52296167
Wait, isn't this getting an anime next season?
>>
>>52324323
Yes, it is.
