The Eldar factions are some of my favorites. Lore wise I like it a lot more than in most fantasy games where the elfs and the humans are more or less brothers in arms against some big bad, or worse, the elfs are your average run of the mill people just like humans, like in Dragon Age or D&D. It's cool the Eldar hate the humans and vice-versa, and that their superiority complex is basically all they have to hold on to as they watch what's left of their race dissolve away. At the same time, they DO team up with the Imperium rather frequently, but there's always a damn good reason for it and the relationship is strained and temporary.

There are 4 types of elder:
1. Corsairs
2. Exodites
3. Craftworld
4. Dark

And they are all shades of terrible.

Corsairs are pirates/mercs who will stab you in the back the moment they think it’s profitable.

Exodites aren’t too bad. So long as you stay off their planets they’re cool to keep to themselves. The problem is they don’t announce which planets are theirs, or even just ask you to leave if you have the poor fortune of landing and trying to set up home. You’ll just get attacked out of the blue by giant lizards, living carnivorous plants and all manner of virus and microscopic organisms. Then the whole thing devolves into open warfare, which could have been avoided if the Exodites had just asked the humans to leave.

Craftworld elder are dicks, they think so little of the other races that they rarely bother to try reasoning with humans even if it would make things easier because we are so far beneath them. Humans start colonising a Tomb World? That’s bad, they could wake up the necrons. What do the Eldar do? Tell the humans about the dangers below? Ha, no, that would be sensible. Better to kill all the humans. Of course because the Eldar are incompetent so they’ll end up accidently waking the Necrons up causing an even great loss of life.

They’ll use their powers of foresight aren’t much better. You know that trope where someone tryies to avert a prophecy only end up making it happen? Yeah the Eldar do that. All. The. Time.

Dark Eldar… They are the most vile, evil race in 40k. They live in the closest thing the universe has to hell. A place where you’ll live forever (‘cos the Eldar will make you immortal) and experience never ending agony.

The Exodite argument is a bit weak because of the shoot first nature of the whole setting, but everything else seems sound. The Eldar's dickery is one of the big reasons the Imperium turned into dickwads. Everything the Eldar touch turns to shit, and they are hell-bent on turning as much shit to shit before they finally go extinct as eldarly possible. If that isn't a solid boot to the badguy list, albeit irrelevant badguys, then I don't know what is.

I've always taken it that space marines did age. As they age the slow down, their reflexes dull and the muscles tire so they eventually get killed in battle. But that's just my assumption.
