you know I can understand replacing the pieces but why with this random ass shit?

The pieces once represented major industries and trades - textiles, constructions, cobbling

What the fuck does a T-Rex represent? Young Earth Christian Science Museums? Is the Penguin representative of Global Warming Scare Tactics Fundraising? Does the rubber ducky indicate Pornography?

The pieces represented different professions you fuck.

Thimble = seamstress.
Wheelbarrow = laborer
Shoe = cobbler

The entire theme of the game was to go from rags to riches..

But no, lets cater to the "quirky, so random, lulz" generation generation.

A "cause" that wants to counteract coming wave of droughts and climate instability that will cause refugee crisis next to which the whole Syria/Libya thing will be cakewalk. For amount that is trivial compared to what fixing broken shit will cost us, and literally the only opposition is shills paid by coal and oil industry.

So yeah, still stupid. Unless you think tobacco, freons, and lead in fuel, you know, previous "scares" of the same kind, were a-ok?

Adults can't fucking play monopoly.

Fuck Monopoly doesn't even exist to be played, it exists for people to play it incorrectly and then get in fights because they never read or followed the rules.

JUST. LIKE. CAPITALISM.
>>
>>52229931
That doesn't change the fact that someone, somewhere, will exploit it to raise money for themselves, claiming it's to stop global warming.

That was the point of my comment.

Not that Global Warming is a scam, but it's a hot topic, and scammers exist. There's already a huge industry around being fake-environmentally conscious. Or did you think companies were making electric cars to 'save the earth'

The fact they gave a warning isn't relevant.

They never explained *why* they did it. Why would they change the classic pieces? Why random animals? What purpose does it serve?
>>
>>52229931
No, the "cause" is that Al Gore wanted to start a carbon credit trading union in Chicago that would be worth billions of dollars for his oligarch friends and accomplish nothing. The discussion of limiting greenhouse gas emissions began and ended with "how do we kill all of the Africans before they start industrializing."

It's a dead cause, and anyone trying to convince you otherwise wants your money.

Not so much when you use a sewing machine, but when you sew by hand. Aside from Tesla, most car companies make electric cars to offset the emissions from their more profitable but gas hungry SUVs and trucks. Any one that thinks it is to "save the Earth" has swallowed the advertising bait.
That said electric cars are a decent product, but only if you live in an area with charging stations and/or your commute is well with in the battery range of your car. In other words first world suburban and urban people.

>When Monopoly was first concocted, the game’s inventor (although whether he stole the idea is highly disputed and probably true), Charles Darrow, envisioned players using small items from around their homes as playing pieces. Your sister could have been a button and you could have been a bottle cap or a lighter, for instance. It was at the suggestion of Darrow’s niece that the pieces be charms from a girl’s charm bracelet.

I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!

The Africa part is legitimate. Africa's population is going nuclear, and most of the continent is extremely low-tech. The Chinese are starting to kickstart their industrialization--and unless they do it in an EXTREMELY environmentally conscious way, their greenhouse gas emissions will make China's look like a hippy commune. This is pretty much unavoidable unless we militarily force them not to industrialize or to use more expensive and less efficient sources of energy than coal and oil--which they won't because it's Africa being guided by China.

Plus we're already past the Carbon tipping point. The game is pretty much over. All that's left is to see how quickly the southern hemisphere becomes uninhabitable, and what kind of Visigoth-esque mass migration this results in. I'm sure the Russians will be loving every laugh from their suddenly fertile nightmare-country as Germany gets Blacked even harder.

With the examples given, Poirot is suppose to be the unassuming looking Belgian guy with a mustache that solves murders based on nothing more than just using his brain and Miss Marple is suppose to a quiet old British lady who solves murders because no one pays any attention to her and she knows how to soak up information because of it. It's funny, actually. The hipsters from the 80s/90s Portland pushed legislation to make it to where there didn't have to be affordable housing to fuck with the homeless/people moving there to be part of that Portlandia mystique. Then, when the rich yuppies who finally retired came to Portland, they drove the property taxes up and the hipsters were priced out of their town because it was legal to not build new affordable housing and are now the worthless bums "ruining" Portland.
