Occasionally, people are beautiful, wonderful, interesting people that I adore listening to and considering.

But most of the time you're waiting for those moments to come around, everything you do is either being a hipsterfag or cliched and stereotypical, don't do anything, don't try anything, don't even play anything.

This pretty much. /tg/ is usually wrong about everything related to group dynamics and social interaction.

These always bug me because it's clear they didn't actually read how the magic item works (bag of holding releases held items one at a time when owner reaches hand in).

I know, I know, "funneh".

There are a lot of people who are really, really bad at gaming who think they're really, really good at it.
>>
>>52211513
Magical realm is still something that's hard to include just anywhere and with just any group.

I had an online GM that made it very clear they had plenty of sexual desires, and would have loved a somewhat frisky party. They encouraged the party to get to know each other's fetishes somewhat, share some porn. They even managed to work in other lewd things without it ruining the game. But I never really wanted to partake - the game still had problems, I still had problems. The GM still had kinks that were far beyond ours.

It's hard to explain, but I can't see this working out as a halfway thing. You keep it pure and chaste, maybe work in some low-key, non-direct things, or you go full ERP lewd campaign. You cannot go from serious to lewd to serious to lewd, you know?

/tg/ has taught me that the average tabletop fan is a pussified nu-male more concerned with virtue-signally "progressive" propaganda than facing reality

in other words, /tg/ taught me the lengths deluded people will go to in order to convince themselves their delusions are valid
>>
>>52210599
Lindybeige is worse than I thought.
GURPS can actually run everything you want it to run.
There are people who know history solely from Hollywood movies, but will try to use it anyway for "historical games".
There are people who will try to cram absurd amounts of details into their settings, without realising the setting is simply bland in the first place and the details are useless for the playing experience.
D&D is singlehandly responsible for 3/4 of stupid misconceptions and cliches in the entire hobby.
W40k lore and aesthetics are tied direcly with how cheap it will be to make minis out of it.

I also discovered Twilight 2000 thanks to /tg/, which is great
>>
>>52211999
Respecting rape victims isn't bad, I don't think. But whole sections of people being unable to bear other people's viewpoints is a little disgusting.
>>
>>52211545
Well, the most common advice here is talk to disruptive players instead of whining on cambodian magic moving tapestry forum. I'd say that's pretty good.
>>
>>52211999
Your post taught me the lengths deluded people will go to in order to convince themselves their delusions are valid.
>>
>>52211545
Since standard response from /tg/ is "Talk like grown ups about it", I don't see your point.
>>
That /tg/ doesn't know shit about actual gameplay.
>>
>>52210599
Most of game elements and mechanics are based on movie-backed memes and bad research.
>>
/tg/ hates a lot of things based on theoretical problems. Which is mainly D&D and its caster balance.
These problems never actually happen because the party is working together, not individually to outshine each other while competing for the same goal.
>>
Always plan for the obvious ways a player thinks they'd solve a problem. i.e. planning for "why don't they just send an army/eagles/Leeman Russ tanks to escort Frodo?" that people like to put forward and seem smart.
Also, let players add things to the setting in their backgrounds, but always proofread and approve people's backstories.

I put together a simple D&D setting where civilization has died, and necromantic corruption's left the land mostly unworkable save for small pockets of isolated communities. Let my players come up with what facet of society their town was founded around. Ended up getting a ninja village, an abbey full of clerics and priests with vaguely warhammer intonations, and two players from a village that kept the secret of gunpowder to themselves and hired their townsfolk out as wandering Landsknecht. Sort of like medieval Mother Base.

I send out the plothook letter, telling them that a community of druids found a possible way to fight the corruption, but they needed a small company of champions to carry it out. They sent some nutrient-intense fruits as part of the package, to show they've created land that can bear such food, and as part of the letter I added a line saying something like "rations and supplies are short, and too many lives draws the attention of the ambient necromantic presence".

When one of the gunsmith players said "hey, my village is mostly mercs, can't I tell my whole town of the importance of this quest and have an entire army come with me?" my other gunsmith player said "no, we'd draw too many undead to us, and might attract the attention of intelligent undead who'd seek to undermine our efforts. Let's not be greedy."

tl;dr My players were self-policing and I was a proud papa.

Some of my best games have been with a group of furries I GM for online. Titillation, like combat or intrigue, gets boring if you focus on it exclusively, thus changing up the focus regularly is healthy. It's also good to be sure at least one player has their interests focused on one aspect.
The combat-focused furry helps the group think with more than their dicks, and often keeps the group towards their task. The more sexual-minded characters often read the background of each location, and ironically talk to npcs and are most likely to remember what people said. I think the only thing I regret is how they let the little shit of a thief get away with cute inter-party theft cause her character is fuckable, but whatever.

Intrigue games become a lot more complicated and fascinating when people aren't afraid to utilize sex as a weapon.
Still, I'd recommend keeping it to text.

Also, I've learned people who play sorcerers are more likely to erp than people who play any other class. Wizards are least likely.

>Everyone at the table is looking at you with confusion.
>You motion for the player next to you to hand you his copy of the rulebook
>He winces and gives you his rulebook after your voice cracks from trying to yell.
>You thumb through it with your dirty cheeto dust fingers
>You wear a smug grin as you find the particular rule that; if grossly misinterpreted, would make your character extremely overpowered.
>You think it would be cool to toss the book in the center of the table, land so that the GM can read it, then give a snarky comment.
>"Check it, kid"
>You lob the book at the center of the table
>It flounders from your lack of aim
>Pages flap as it knocks over several minis from where they were placed
>It knocks two drinks over, washing away the table of character sheets and dice
>The book lands closed shut, sliding until it gently taps on the GM's screen
>Everyone is staring daggers at you after having to scoot out of the way from the flood of mountain dew
>You try to say something but all that comes out is mumbling and spittle
>Your thigh jiggles, you think its your phone
>You dig your hands into your cargo short pockets, feeling your greasy leg hair brush against the material of the pocket
>Your hand touches something warm and squishy
>You look over, and see your phone sitting on the table, you had been browsing youtube while the GM was doing some RP bullshit earlier
>You pull out your hand, it's covered in tomato sauce and noodles
>Opening your hand, a single meatball falls out and lands on the GM's carpet with a splat

It never happened. That shit never happened and you should be ashamed of it. But it was a funny story and I enjoyed it, therefore I am fine with you telling it.
>>
>>52210599

Most people who play RPGs have no standards whatsoever. I'm not sure which is sadder, that there are lots and lots of DMs out there that think they can half-ass and make shit up on a moment's notice without regard to any sort of consistency and the players never notice, or that they might in fact be correct and their players do not in fact notice.
