Someone in last thread mentioned Escaflowne, so I have a question.

How can I pilot a semi-giant robot in Pathfinder and not have it be shit? I want to be Large or Huge size max, although I won't say no to being Colossal.

Calima

>Born in Galt
>See some shit because Galt
>Paranoia is the order of the day
>Leaves in order to gain the power to "win" once and for all.

A revolutionary bathed in blood, and determined to be the last one standing.

Good:
Galt has been sorely underused in /pfg/ apps, so I['m glad we've got a PC completely embracing the flavor.

The character has an inbuilt way to grow and change, which is something I so rarely see.

Bad:
I see nothing to justify her having levels in Zen Archer. Why does she have them? Not answering this question is a *massively* missed opportunity, especially because she had to be Lawful for 3 levels, before becoming Chaotic.

Yet another "I have no morals and standards, except when I do" type of PCs that gets so, so, over used. If your PC is an amoral thug, make them an amoral thug. Don't take the most cliche cop out imaginable.

As with Lokhar, what virtue does she embody? What has she done to set herself apart?

What are her motivations beyond UNLIMITED POWAH?

>Appeal 4/10, the seed of a good idea is here, but it needs to be developed. Tell us why.
>Backstory 4/10, Galtan flavor is good; lack of anything else is bad.
>Compatibility 7/10 I'm unfamiliar with how Spheres Inquisitor differs from normal, but the skill list, combined with casting, damage, and tanking means she'll fit in just fine. Potential personality conflicts are acknowledged by the player, who wants to work through them.
>Godliness 6/10, this character could be a damn interesting god. The key word there is "could."

Next: TBD!
>>
Where did your character learn to read?
>>
>>52193736
Being a recovering fedora motherfucker, my last GM had some...different ideas about outsiders. Demons and devils were just monsters that lived either deep underground or way off in the arctic, everything was monotheistic, agathions were mortals, angels were basically soul-based versions of the geth from Mass Effect, and archons were just kind of not in evidence.

The good side of this is that we managed to secure a magitek that allowed us to create our own angels. From then on, we never needed to pay for any mortal armies (we were playing a modified Kingmaker)...except for the one stupid bastard who was just like "but muh Red Army!" the whole game.

Lets talk about char art pfg. How important is it for the purposes of applications. Can bad art ruin an otherwise well written application, or vice versa?
>>
>>52193790
I always figured, what with organized religion and magical training being so prevelant in Golarion, that you could always learn basic reading and writing from the local community cleric

This is actually kind of a hard question, because 90% of the time when I write something, it's what I want. PDG and LG basically let me do whatever. So I guess if I could pick my next project, say if Paizo gave me a blank check, it'd probably be something like what I'm doing with SoM, but on a smaller scale. Things that give martials more fun, since I'm all about that. I'm most comfortable with 3/4th or full BAB martial classes, they're really fun design space.

Depends on the city. You'll have better luck with cities that aren't right near orcish territory, but if this orc isn't swinging an axe and screaming for blood, and just strolls on in like a normal dude, then chances are he'll get let in.
>>
>>52194536
Depends on the city, how common either Orcs and their progeny are, and how tolerant the people of that region are.

Take for example:
Ustalav? Lynched and burned at the stake
Molthune? Recruiters will try to flock to them
Andoran? Hello fellow free citizen!
Lastwall? Careful and strict monitoring.
Mendev? EVERYONE TO THE CRUSADES! NOW!
Cheliax? Depending on how well dressed, people will ask who his owner is.
Tian Xia? Sweet Shizuru what the hell is that thing!?
>>
>>52194619

Wouldn't Tian Xia see Orcs are hideously muscular Hobs?

Isn't excessive curves on a female character really an appearance crutch?

Exaggerated features get away without getting down to details, but classical thin beauty can only be done by actually digging into what makes them beautiful.

Maybe the take away here is that sexy is easy, beautiful is difficult.
>>
>>52194710

You've got a point, and while I want to expand on this post the limitations of Phoneposting are becoming very apparent!
>>
>>52194710
>classical
>thin
The standard for beauty in Avistan would probably place a rounder, thicker woman as more attractive, since the setting doesn't have fast food or easily-accessible calories.

Since nobles can afford to get fat, they make a moderate amount of it the ideal female form, and once commoners can afford to get fat, then the rich will switch things around and make thinness attractive.
>>
>>52194758
>>52194710

Friendly reminder that Shelyn is considered the ideal feminine form.

And she's kind of plump!
>>
>>52194710
Yeah, it's a crutch, but it's not a bad one unless you're getting beat over the head with how HOT and SEXY the character is. Beauty is too subjective to be talked about in fine details, and it's not really worth it to belabor the point of a character's attractiveness compared to anything else that can be said about them.
>>
Why are Rogues (Including Unchained Rogues) so underpowered pfg?
>>
>>52194785
IIRC Shelyn appears as whatever her viewer would consider ideal, so it's not that she's plump, it's just that you like plump girls.
>>
>>52194819

So yo, I am going to be a player in a "Vampire Hunter" campaign. So undead and vampires. No Third Party, but almost all books are available. I am looking for something that seems good to roleplay but also can actually fight.

Been looking up some classes and archetypes and wondered if you guys have any experience, ideas, or tips. Or if I am missing something or should check/consider out something else.

So far the classes I've looked at are:
Normal Cleric and Oracle. - Pretty Good vs Undead Spells
Crypt Breaker - Alchemist Archetype has bombs against Corporeal Undead
Spirit Warden - Shaman Archetype gets some domain spells and channel energy
Kinslayer or Vampire Hunter- Vampire Hunter Inquisitor Archtypes, One is Dhampir Racial
Corpse Hunter - Ranger Archetype, Favored Enemy Undead Ranger
Spirit Master - Archetype Monk, Undead Lay To Rest Monk
Grave Warden - Slayer Archetype, slays the Undead real good.
Undead Scourge or Oath Against Undeath - Paladin Archtypes, Smite Evil Undead stuff
>>
>>52195200
>Cleric
If you go Cleric make sure you take the Sun Domain for maximum channel-killing!

Power attack scales better but if you can afford to spend the feats, +2 natural armor at one is pretty great and does wonders for your survivability.

I mean, it depends. Sooner or later the non-humanoids are gonna start dealing magical damage with their attacks, and that DR/Magic is gonna be a lot less valuable. If you're in a low-magic campaign god help you then you can probably get by with it, but otherwise, I see no reason not to get something like Aligned DR or Typed DR (Slashing, Bludgeoning, Piercing) because you can count on those being a bit more reliable to use.

It's not even "my wifes son" issue with me. It's the fact that a player displays interest in a character and one of the first things the DM does is have said character raped when there is pretty much no reason to do so and in a way that couldn't be prevented without abusing meta knowledge.

This is almost the equivalent of sending an entire orc horde to murder fuck the PC's family with no warning.
>>
>>52195858
Yeah, that's why I'm feeling pretty lukewarm about the DR/Magic. I know that a lot of high level monsters just have stuff like "This creatures natural weapons are treated as magic and adamantine" or something like that.

Anyone can take care of a child, in fact the big hooplah now is that women don't even *need* men to take care of their kids, that being a single mother is both feasible and a sign of strength.

>>52196153
>thinking that genetics even matter in a world where we've made human evolution basically irrelevant
>>
>>52196140
Lucius is cute!
>>
>>52196134
Arcanist has the best and worst of both the Sorcerer and the Wizard- that is, the versatility of both (in spontaneously casting spells they've prepared but having delayed spell access and fewer spells per day). Magus is generally meme'd as having poor class design because the way it works means that you're pretty much locked into being a Dex-fag, and none of the archetypes for it are any good.

Summoner is good regardless of being Chained or Unchained, as you've basically got the tools of a 9-level caster on the chassis of a 6th-level caster, along with a beatstick buddy you can customize.

Why are you bringing up the loser that walked out on the mother? It's not like women constitute the majority of divorce rates and the most often reason for said divorce is something about "him not being there for me" when he's working, that's just a part of what men have to deal with!

Hell, did you know Canada recently set precedent by saying a woman who lied about being on the pill to get pregnant with a man's kid can still demand child support? What a hero!

Beyond, you helping your own genes with your resources vs you helping somebody else genes with your resources while they don't do anything.

I mean, that's the Cuckoo birds modus operandi, get some other dumb-ass birds to raise our chicks.

Now humans are a lot more complicated than cuckoo birds. I don't have any problem with adoption, raising the child of a widower, or even the product of a long term relationship that didn't work out.

But FUCK raising the spawn of some thug nigga or redneck motherfucker who couldn't stick around or stay out of prison, that is just cleaning up someone else mess. Those kinds of women exist too, I don't think they're the majority, but you do have to look out for that. People WILL abuse the kindness of others.
>>
>>52196153
Genetics have meaning on an individual case but the fact that they're "your genetics" doesn't mean anything unless you're getting into regular soap opera blood transfer scenarios. Unless your breeding is going to bring supermen into the world, which I doubt any one of us is likely to, then it doesn't fucking matter.

People want to have their own kids because... they want to have their own kids? Who gives a fuck, it's just an expectation founded on the fact that it's been done forever. Adoption or remarriage sounds solid to me, in lack of being able to purchase cyborg babies.
>>
>>52196166

It doesn't make sense.

We live in a world where people insist genetics don't matter and race isn't real, but the moment you say you support genetic modification those same people get Luddite-tier uppity about "making ubermensch" or "how dare you alter that cluster of cells to be tall and muscular!"

Magus has had any possible variation gutted out of it by paizo, and the base design fucks you over for saying to try something else. Anon... Those women *are* the majority. Every woman I've been with that turned out to be a single mother had the same sob story about being young and dumb or having a beautiful baby boy that's their world whose baby daddy just couldn't be bothered.

It's sick and annoying, nothing's more pathetic than when they realize the kid's what's making you leave.

I'm not going to pick people based on whether they can guess my fetish or my personal desires.

That said, I'm looking for a tone that's more in line with, say, Sands of Time than Warrior Within. Less generic rage, mild or moderate grit at most. The world is dangerous and full of monsters, but they're not beating down your door with a bloodied axe and a two-foot boner.

And in fact, those monsters are just as likely to be coming to your city to clean up, learn Kelish, and look for a job as they are to be waiting in ambush out by one of the roads.
>>
>>52196199
>that walked out on the mother
indeed

My cousin, for example, started seeing another guy after convincing her ex to take a transfer that would add 2 hours driving every day to his work schedule, because it would let them buy a house in 2 years instead of 7.

"he's never there for us, we feel abandoned, he barely even takes care of the kids because he's never there for us"
And also she got the fucking house.
He only stopped paying alimony and child support after 6 years (last summer), when she married the guy she'd started dating "after he abandoned her".

Or, as her oldest son pointed out to my father and I quite bitterly (my father babysat him a lot after retiring and I was his main source of videogames); not so much "after abandoning them" as "a couple of weeks before she had dad take the transfer at Hydro"

I'm reminded of a talk show host discussing divorce with a crowd of men, and every time she asked a man about their experience she started the question with, "why did you leave them?"

Their fault, of course, even after the past four men explained the wife was the one who initiated the divorce because he's "just not there for me."

And now you have people asking where all the "good ones" went and young men just not bothering with things people took for granted before and yet society refuses to admit that something's wrong, only that the trends aren't good.

As a rule of thumb, keep lewd content in your application subtle and suggestive, if you want to have it at all.

Okay, folks, I'm going through and doing guides for the SoP classes, primarily because my google-fu has turned up that there's only guides for the Shifter, Thaumaturge, and Elementalist out currently. It always comes after they convince you to work the extra hours, to get them that thing (usually house) that would make them so happy 'and the family so much better.'

Meanwhile the only thing that matters is those last few months of your income becoming that much larger before the divorce.

All those orphans can go fuck themselves if people want their own kids, I'm only upset at the pretense that having your own kids is arbitrarily better. In cases where it actually is like if you're secretly a European monarch who plays Pathfinder to live out the lifestyle you want to return to, or if you're the latest in a result of a secret American breeding project, then whatever, go ahead and make your argument. If you're just some dude who barely meets the national averages in health metrics, then go fuck yourself and stop making excuses because you're insecure that your perfect wife has an ex-husband who smushed baby batter into her once.

The problem with that is money can always be regained or reimbursed.
There's no way to replace an organ without another donation, in which case the corrupt evil execs will just buy a black market one and no problem anyway, and all you've done is created an economic incentive for a more extensive organ transplant black market.

Which will then turn it into eventually a bigger company, then you get Repo!

Or we could just start applying death penalty to high level ponzi/pyramid/other embezzlement schemes.
That'd be a good turn, would save moneuy on the prison system, and would create both a legal and societal pressure on big business to either be more covert in their schemes, or to just not risk it at all.

>>52197233
No, what I'm saying is instead of giving them more economic incentive to expand their activities into black market, you just cut them off at the source.

Because frankly, just a minor penalty and a kidney they they can pay a replacement for anyway is going to do nothing at all, and neither will it fix the root of the problem.
>>
>>52197233
>>52197272
I use to be in favor of allowing capital punishment until I learned that, at least in the USA, it generally costs more to have somebody executed than it does to keep them imprisoned for life, due to legal fees from repeated appeals (if you're facing the death sentence, you don't stop appealing until you either can't or you're dead), expenses in keeping them imprisoned while alive (which can last for years in its own right), and apparently the actual drug cocktail used to kill being stupid expensive because it has to be purchased from some European company because it's illegal to make in the USA.
>>
>>52197422
Then we just need to pass legislature to either produce the chemical ourselves, strongarm the european pharm company into lowering its rates, or just go back to more "primitive" methods of execution.
>>
>>52197493
Good luck doing any of that when we still can't decide as a nation whether capital punishment should be legal in the first place or not.

Of course, when one of the arguments against it is that it's more expensive than life in prison, you lock yourself in a logical circle. It's like how people don't invest in green tech because it's expensive but it will never get cheap if people don't invest in it first.
>>
>>52197546
That, and the fact that sadly some greentech can be just as harmful for the environment as oil and gas, especially the need to convert land to ethonol management.

Though granted, conversion to it is definiately needed, especially since oil will run out in about 50 year. However, good fucking luck convincing the public and companies from investing in it without an economic incentive for them, since without that incentive there is no desire from most people or companies to advance the greentech in the first place.

I mean, ideas and wishes are good and all, but unless there's either a cost benefit, or a rich and skilled entrepreneur who wants to create his own market and get a head start in it while maintaining competitive pricing, its probably won't happen much for the next 20-40 years or so. Sure, there will be some progress in the mean time, but it will generally be slow without an economic force to expedite it.

Because sadly any economy is essentially a heavily abstracted ecosystem, in that if you try to force things hard without attempting to emulate the natural disturbance and successional regime or understanding the local trophic cascade and n-dimensional ecological interactions, really you'll just be doing more harm than good, and may even hinder your own work in the long run.
