Unorthodox Warfare - The marines prefer to gradually tear down their enemies from the shadows through various means and only engaging them in open combat when the time is absolutely perfect. Any battle the warband participates in is a game of wits for them and the enemy. Guerilla tactics, sabotage, key-target assassination, information warfare, infiltration, and the spread of anarchy and disorder, are all tools of their trade.

Strange for Iron Warriors, but maybe their access to archeotech and menagerie of followers is what does this.

The Warband is strong, but it's forces are spread thin, deployed in a Black Crusade, skirmishing, following their own agendas, etc.

This is consistent with their Unorthodox Warfare, they split into smaller cells to attack multiple targets at a time.

Allies: Specific group of Chaos/renegade mortals (renegade/corrupted Lost and the Damned regiments, anti-Imperium rebels, clan of tribals, corrupted mutants, mercenary bands, pirate gangs....etc)

Consistent with our Accept Any and All policy. I'm gonna say the corrupted sector's defense forces are the main ally, providing us with manpower and resources from the captured planets. Much of the manpower takes the form of covert operatives and specialists who help support the main warband, like spies and psykers and tech-adepts, etc.

Enemies: Specific Eldar Craftworld/leader

Since we love ancient tech so much, maybe we tried plundering a few too many Crone Worlds, stepped on too many Eldar toes, got them angry at us and now we're in a duel over who gets the loot.

SUMMARY: These guys look a lot like the Alpha Legion. I'm going to say that they're remnants of the Iron Warriors' recon/scout units, which would explain their Unorthodox Warfare. Their affinity for tech explains their desire for archeotech, and the fact that they managed to corrupt an entire sector explains their main ally being Chaos Mortals, their homeworld, and their Accept Any and All policy.
