Hisoka is a sadistic, highly intelligent and powerful fighter who's only asperations in life is to fight powerful opponents or to groom them to his standards so he can fight and kill them.

He's as attached to things as he is to drop them like hot garbage and is equally at home fucking dudes as he is fucking women. He also comes up with inventive ways of killing his opponents because it's not enough to simply deconstruct their techniques and ruin them but have fun doing it to.

Cao Cao classically gets a bad rap because 1000 years after he died, an Emperor wanted to connect his lineage with the Han, and commissioned Luo Guanzhong to write a historical novel about the era Cao Cao lived in. This novel was The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and it paints Cao Cao as Chinese Hitler who was totally out to usurp the Han Dynasty and was personally kicked in the nuts by Heaven becuase of how Bad he was.

One of my favorite trivia bits on Cao Cao was that during the Chinese Revolution, Mao Zedong was frequently compared to Cao Cao, so the CCP began a long term campaign to rehabilitate the public perception of this historical figure. While this was happening, one of Mao's closest generals was also comparing himself to a famous figure from the Three Kingdoms era-but the guy he was making comparisons to (Zhang Fei) fought against Cao Cao! It wasn't long before said general was ostracized by Mao, because in China historical comparisons are SERIOUS BUSINESS!

I always consider every single "villain" from TWD being just another Governor, more and more watered down
We are at the point of Homeopathic Governor now. A guy that is so cartoonishly over the top, while being so amazingly inefficient in pretty much EVERYTHING he does it's just mindnumbing
We had Governor, who was shit, evil and stupid, but maintained a facade of great leader and a nice guy for his followers
We had Governor 2.0, who went a "little" insane and man-handled people into fighting for his petty revange. Still decent
We had crazy police officers who were asking for trouble and get it eventually, since they were fully disfunctional group
We had disfunctional group of looters, who basically were acting like a bunch of betas fighting over who should be the alfa of their tribe and got shanked due to being needlessly cruel to both themselves and others
We had stupid cannibals, who could do pretty much anything else, but just had a taste for human flesh and get killed for that. At least among themselves they were cordial and close-knitted
Then there was the half-wild tribe, which was doing this shit for the the kick, but also for supplies they didn't have. They were just stupid enough to keep looting rather than start getting their own
And then we are stuck with Negan, who combines all the bad qualities of every previous itterations of "Governor", but without a single good one. There is literally not a SINGLE reason to follow him. There are like 5 schemes to kill them, but none moves forward, because plot armor. And he as a character is absolutely boring and obnoxious at that

If you ever play a system that benefits from a dedicated persuader, like being the group's face in Shadowrun for example, playing it like Saul Goodman is probably the most fun you'll ever have.

Um..... it does work like that, history alone proves you wrong. There were many leaders throughout history who only stayed in power because people were too scared to take them out. Negan has followers who he treats well, and who protect him, as he protects them, they have faith in him. He is not stupid and is obviously charismatic to have built what he did. The reason he's the bad guy, is that he is an unrepentant narcissistic psychopath, who abandoned all humanity ages ago if he ever actually had it. I won't deny that he has plot armor, he does, so he's just a DMPC/BBEG who's working in opposition to the party, but claiming that he's a watered down version of the governor is bullshit, The Governor was worse in the comics, and Negan was way worse than he was in the comics, he's watered down a lot for TV.

Also where did you get this idea that the bad guys had to be fresh or new ideas? they just have to be entertaining. The entire show, and the comics as well, are both a sort of commentary on human nature per Word of God, no antagonist, is going to be 100% original, or something new, they're just going to be humans.

There has never been a character that tried so hard to get me to hate him, but I love so goddamn much.
