Don't touch the monster's fluids in case it's one of the contagious ones.

Use a long spear or halberd to keep them from scratching or biting you if its one of them lycanthropic ones.

Burn the monster's remains entirely, preferably somewhere with a seperate air supply from what ever location you are in when the body is being burned.

Don't use monster parts.

Don't use polymorph self.

Don't be a wild shape druid.

Don't drink polymorph potions.

Don't fuck monsters.

Is that so? Monsters are the most likely to negotiate, since they want to gain even more easily. And when you throw in how monsters are hunted, well now they definitely want to negotiate.

>>52144809
By always remembering what makes you human and not straying from the path of humanity.
>>
>>52144809
Why would you not want to be a monster?

You can kill monsters much better that way.
>>
Does anyone have that one cartoon about the dude being taken away by bug things into this weird hive thing in the center of the earth, where he would be feasted upon each day, and dumped into a vat to regenerate. Eventually the regenerations would have errors, which accumulated overtime until he reached the point that he was no longer recognized as human by his captors, allowing him to escape, however in the process he has lost his humanity, as his freedom came at the cost of humanity, now resembling a gross accumulation of mass moreso than an actual human being.
>>
>>52144809
Execute the evil, mad, and monstrous cleanly, without cruelty or ruthlessness, instead with expedience, for while they do not deserve suffering, they also do not deserve to live. Do not revel in the slaughter or delight in death, for killing is not something to be proud of. Instead, let your heart be warmed by the knowledge that a danger to those you are sworn to protect is no more.

Always keep in your heart the knowledge that we do this not for the sake of violence, but to defend those who have not our strength. We are to be the saviors of the broken, the beaten, and the powerless. When in darkness and temptation, when anger or sorrow clouds your thoughts, do not be ashamed, because it is human to feel, but do not let your vision and actions be clouded by such.

Even if you must face death yourself, don't allow the weight of the world break you, to turn you away from what is right. A broken man is the most dangerous of all to peace and righteousness, because bereft of his loves or his honor, he is little more than a monster, but with a intellect and cunning that no mere beast possesses.
>>
>>52145013
It was some webcomic if I remember correctly, and was somewhat lengthy. Felt like it addressed the loss of humanity to combat what is inhuman (or escape from it in this case) pretty well. I think he ended up with a baby he stole from the kidnappers mosquito insect things or something in the end.

You're confusing and conflating condemnation with permission. Killing and violence are inherently evil, but they can still be justifiable and even necessary.

Just because something is bad does not mean that engaging in it to, say, prevent a greater evil or at least another evil isn't without merit, it just means that those engaging in it have to own their actions and the subsequent consequences rather than expecting abdication of responsibility and absolution for their choices.

Welcome to the nature of war. Some can turn it off the monster they've become when it's over, others can't and have a hard time reintegrating with a peaceful and stable society.

It has literally always been this way.

>>52147723
Nothing is inherently anything. We are the herders, the origin of meaning. "Evil" means nothing in nature; it is red in tooth and claw and cares little for our petty moralism. It is violent and 'cruel' only as we define it. Next lie to me about how gold has inherent value. I love a good bedtime story.
>>
>>52147723

No. The idea that killing and violence are wrong, note that I said killing and violence not murder, is a fairly modern concept and is largely limited to what anthropologists refer to as W.E.I.R.D. nations.

You're regurgitating what you were told. You don't have a properly educated opinion on the matter, you simply have a moral certainty that it is wrong because it is wrong. Baseless statements.

Killing a monster does not make you a monster.
>>
>>52147842

The state operates by having a monopoly on violence. This is the basis of modern morals. States limited the expression of violence for those underneath their control. In order to do this, the idea was created that violence was wrong unless justified. This idea has been allowed to continue to grow for centuries as states also become ever more powerful until it has simply become violence is wrong period.
>>
>>52145718
Hell yeah. Can I be a mind flayer?
>>
>>52147842

The basic idea behind it is it's hypocritical to judge someone as evil if they kill someone if you then decide to kill them, as you would then be committing the act that you judged them for in the first place.

Of course, this is a really hamfisted attempt at depth, and is hilariously dissonant when in stories where the protagonist kills tons of underlings before they get to the big bad, or if the big bad is a genocidal murderer and killing them would stop their rampage (although one could argue that putting a quantification on human life is itself a moral quandary). And even in situations when it isn't dissonant with the narrative, this idea simply ignores the intent of the action and only looks at outcome, which not very many people do when thinking about the morality of actions, so it seems a little bizarre.

However, I think this type of trope can be done well. For an example i'd say Avatar the Last Airbender accomplishes it pretty decently (if not a bit asspull-y.

Dog trainer here

Rubbing doggos nose in pee hurts and confuses them. They are not sure what you are trying to convey.

The best method is if you catch them peeing inside say no! Then move them outside. Show them behaviour you WANT to see. Don't punish for what you don't like, give an alternative. It is easier and less stressful for them to understand.

If they aren't house trained take them outside to pee regularly. I know this sounds weird, but it really works. Reward them when they pee outside. Say good job! Give them a little piece of chicken. They will associate peeing outside with good things and realize it's what you want. Teach them a cue to go out like "potty" or something.

Rubbing their face in pee is confusing, scary for them. If they're not caught in the act they will not make an association with peeing inside and getting their face rubbed, they think you're nuts. Their brains aren't wired like ours. Again, teach them behaviour you would rather see and they catch on remarkably fast.

It's OK for puppies to have the occasional accident.

With my method my dog has learned "want to go outside" is a cue to go out and pee if she has to. She hasn't had an accident since she was a baby.

By not repeating meaningless platitudes. Smite evil, don't smite non-evil. It's that simple. Though I do admit that the big risk of trying to be virtuous is that you'll eventually see yourself as inherrently better because you're more virtuous, and therefore start seeing others as lesser.
