In your setting, how does making trades with demons, devils, and other kinds of a nasty things work?
What kinds of benefits can it bring, and what's the price?
Is it like a contract where one party is hired by the other to do various jobs for an amount of time, or is it like a transaction where each party gives something to the other in a single transfer before parting ways?

In my setting beings from advanced societies govern their interactions with more primitive groups on the basis of strict regulations that enshrine the concept of informed consent, while attempting to accommodate the stark differences in education and frame of reference that such cross-cultural exchanges typically entail.

In a Class A interaction, an individual or group of primitives may explicitly place themselves under the authority of a more advanced entity in exchange for protection, provender, and guidance. The entity in question assumes a role similar to that of "in loco parentis", with the legal authority to assist, and even punish, the lower being(s) in question.

In a Class D interaction, an individual or group of primitives may trade goods and-or services with a more advanced entity on the basis of an explicit written or oral contract. Said entity must provide full disclosure to their primitive trading partners that this interaction may have unforeseen consequences and could corrupt their development as individuals and-or as a society.

Finally, an individual or group of primitives may request goods and-or services from a more advanced entity via an explicit written or oral statement. The entity in question may fulfill no more than three such requests from any particular party, and must conform their actions to the explicit request without regard to their understanding of the intent or best interests of the primitive party.

This final standard of action is known colloquially as "The Jinn Protocol"

In my setting demon/devils/ect are not actual nether worldly beings, they are mortals who have been exposed to the chaos beyond the world and are mutated into living, unkillable magic WMDs. Some are mindless war machines, while others are conscious, but twisted.

To make a deal or trade with such things, you'd have to split open the fabric of reality, cutting a hole in the world to let in the chaos, but even the tiniest hole in is enough for a demon to get through. If the person is lucky enough to let a demon in that can think, they can make a deal, however demons usually only want one thing: to unmake reality, usually involving spilling chaos into the material world. In exchange for that, demons can do a number of things, attack a specific target for the mortal that let them in, expose some truth of reality to the mortal (like telling them the Truename of something important, or showing them how to fuck with magic to an unholy degree) or twisting the mortal's essence into that of a demon so they can possess that same power. It varies really. Some demons may ask for other things specifically, but the end result is usually tor try and unmake reality in some fashion.

Demons in my setting are weird animate spirits made by people believing in things but not actually worshiping them, like urban legends. Most of their deals actually hinge around getting people to believe in them, because as long as people do, they can't actually die. They'll just channel that belief into resurrecting, like a lich with a phylactery.
A usual contract with a demon would be a deal in which the demon uses their magical or mundane abilities to get something done in exchange for something that would spread its name, or the concept that it springs from to others.

Fuck it, lets do it. Let's make a Bayonetta rpg.

Where should we start?
Should we make a new thread for the idea when this one dies, or just develop it in here?

In one of my settings (which was basically Exalted meets Valdemar with a nation that's a darker pokemon), all extraplaner beings are called Daemons. The lowest classes are basically animals - easy to summon, bind, and command. The higher classes are intelligent beings. Three categories of them are a collective of races that originally serve the gods, who are self-contained dualities, and each god has a specific race that tends to serve them. These categories are Infernals, who serve the evil side, Celestials, who serve the good side, and Abyssals, who don't serve a god. For example, Celestial Succubi serve the Lady of Lust and Love; Infernal Succubi serve her dark side, The Queen of Rape; and Abyssal Succubi do their own thing. The God-Serving Daemons will make deals, such as giving you magical ability, but require three boons (sacrifices or tasks) to do so. Even the Abyssals follow these rules.
Elementals don't require boons, but many will request them. They can still be bound though, unlike the God-Daemons.

It's basically like a pop culture depiction of legal bureaucracy, with all of the obtuseness and illogicality associated with real legal doctrines (eg. the rule against perpetuities) and none of the underlying protections.

>Oh, no, sorry, Anon. You see, if you read the small print on line 356 of sub-form D32, paragraph 32, sub j, sub 1, sub Z, it actually states "may not take your soul for eternity." The operative clause here is may. We may not, we may. I have chosen to go ahead with that. So, uh, yeah you fucked up. As per section 91345, sub 9, sub A, sub BA, sub g23 of the Daemonic Pacts Property Act (DA 2002, c D-23) your soul and the souls of your lineal descendants are now forfeit.
>You may appeal, but the Seventh Circle Court has a backlog of approximately 3002 years at the current moment.

Trading with the devil takes from other people, but with a fifty percent loss during the transfer.

Want to be a multimillionaire? The devil will find two people who already have that kind of money and they'll both go bankrupt. Shortly afterwards through seemingly unrelated events, you'll start getting rich. Political power? The devil will wreck the careers of two people who'd already had it to jump-start your new career. People die and half of what would have otherwise been their lifespan is added to yours. Two happy marriages break up and you've got an obsessive fangirl in love with you no matter how you treat her.

If the world is lessened with each transaction, why do you care? The price is high, but you're not the one who has to pay.

Demons are essentially parasites that offer some immediate benefit, in exchange for things of deep personal value from the contractor. Lower class demons will trade for simple things, like pain, or pounds of flesh for things like information, or other things in their power to give.

Higher class demons offer services at higher prices, usually things of great personal benefit to the mortal, or if their powerful enough, will only be willing to trade their souls.

Demons word their deals to the maximum benefit to themselves, but cannot break a deal. Trying to misrepresent or break a deal by either party is highly destructive to the breaker. For example, an orphan tried trading all memories of his mother's cooking to a Greater Demon, and was made into a vegetable for the attempted deceit.

In the campaign this took, place in, other deals involved swearing eternal vassalage to an imp in exchange for resurrection. Pain and teeth for basic knowledge of a foreign language from said imp. A magic sword (the first not only magic weapon, but even steel, weapon the party acquired) for a Lesser Demon's name, to, summon him. Said Lesser Demon's service until a major goal was met in exchange for the dealers soul. Sacrificing the dealers genitalia to turn of the stink Demon's smell ( making him less useful).

Much later the party made a purely beneficial deal with a Demon King to defeat a rival of his that trapped him essentially powerless, in exchange for powerful gifts. The requested rewards were an artifact tome that contained all spells, becoming a half dragon ( first and only one in the entire setting), perfect knowledge of a lichdom ritual, a demonic army to retake a dispossessed throne, and a mate.

The most powerful deal the imp made after residing in the hedge wizard whom later became a lich's soul was the only party member to refuse ever making a deal, until he had to, to save, his wife else where in the world, in exchange for his legacy.
