snack stuff I've made.
>guacamole and chips
>almonds stuffed into olives
>lemoned apple slices
>orange wedges
>brie stuffed cranberry monkey bread
>bannana bread muffins filled with cream cheese
>bbq chicken sliders
>chicken parmesan sliders
>regular sliders
>avocado goat cheese prosciutto wraps
>blueberry coffee cake
>caramelized brussel sprouts
>pan fried pesto sandwiches w/ raw cherry tomatoes

I also made some lemon garlic shrimp scampi linguini last session; but that was more of a planned meal break rather than mid session snack. Whenever I am not messing around in the kitchen the gaming table food is from: the local pizza place, a costco combo/pepperoni pizza, take out mexican, and bbq pork banh mi sandwiches from the Vietnamese bakery.

Generally speaking, we play after lunch and until dinner. So people usually bring some fruits, peanuts, perhaps a sandwich or some home baked snack like a liquorice-chocolate brownie.

For beverages, we usually drink either water or stout. Sometimes coffee/tea. Rarely soda/juice.
>>
>>52113956
We ussually eat trash food court shit before the game, though sometimes we'll go to a mid scale restaurant, ussually asian.

During the game we eat chips, cookies, lollies, and whatever mystery snacks that one player picked up from the asian grocer which we can't read the label on.

Afterwards we might go to the donut shop for donuts and imported soft drinks because if there's one thing America does well it's make soft drinks. Why the fuck isn't cherry cola available everywhere?

Usually chips, all kind of nuts, crackers, bretzel, cold cuts and bread... that kind of stuff. We make one longer break during game to have some real food (either we cook something simple like spaghetti or lasagna, or we go eat something outside).
>>
Everyone is responsible for its own snacks and drinks. In term of drinks we have usually some beers and a variety of soft drinks.

I usually have some sushi or a sub. Sometimes we'll buy a pizza if we're too lazy and/or engrossed in the game to take a break to make the half-hour round trip to the grocery store.

For drinks, we usually pick up a 24-pack of whatever pop everyone is in the mood for. If there's alcohol in the fridge we usually have some of that too.
>>
There's usually a bowl of chips that constantly gets refilled throughout the session, and everyone chips in with some baking or savory thing.

I usually do brownies/scones/small apple pies/caramel slices, etc.

By the time we game on Saturday and Sunday we actually have a meal together. Last week I had hot wings.
>>
>>52113956
We just go for takeaway, and pause the game while we eat like civilised folk.
Usually, either chinese, indian, kebab, or fish and chips. Kebabs only in the warmer months because they come from a van and we'll freeze to death waiting for them to be cooked.
We'll occasionally go have a sit-down meal somewhere if we can find somewhere that isn't overpriced and is tolerable to the group as a whole, including someone with a weak immune system.
>>
>>52113956
I don't eat at the table, at all. I eat before the game, usually with the rest of the group. If necessary, we make a break to eat. You don't eat at your workplace, do you?

Do... you not make your own guac? Do you not know the deliciousness that is fresh, home made guac?

>caramelized brussel sprouts
> What the fuck is that even?

So a brussel sprout is a sort of tiny cabbage looking thing the size of a golf ball or smaller.

There's a bunch of ways to cook them (I prefer shredded, and cooked with bacon and worchestershire sauce) but like a lot of things if you cook them slow you can caramelize them, which makes them taste sweet.

>What the fuck are you a middle class housewife with two kids in elementary school? This just seems like really weird food to have when you are gaming, seems more like a get together of wine moms.
I didn't list any of the random Trader Joe's impulse buy junk food staples that are at the table.
There's only one husband and wife with a crotch spawn in preschool. The rest are twenty and thirty somethings that are college friends of the gm.
A regular/the gm's best friend is a diabetic, so I make sure to have at least one thing at the table he can eat without dying. All the games are hosted at my boyfriend (the forever gm's) place at my kitchen table. And because I am the newest member of the group, with the worst role playing/creativity skills wise. I put together food from the backyard (we've got a few avacado trees and some citrus that grow year round) and whatever random ingredients I have from costco trips so I can feel less anxious about being the newbie/only knowing the group through the bf/be a good host.
Depending on what's being played. There's usually a few cheap trader joes table wines and a case of cheaper pacificos that get emptied.

>>52119369
>caramelized brussel sprouts
>What the fuck is that even?
Something the diabetic taught me, and I decided to try because sprouts were in season and dirt cheap at Trader Joes. They're mostly olive oil some salt and pepper over halved cleaned sprouts. Broil in the oven until the first few layers of skin are crispy and the bottom is browned. What you get is a hearty bite sized savory vegetable with good texture variety.
Some people say they're good in salads, but I usually serve them as a side with something like baked chicken.
>>
>>52119623
We're playing Edge of the Empire so the GM allows a house ruled crafting roll to be made for cooking something out of whatever is onboard the freighter. Usually with a survival skill roll that gets set back or boost die depending on the quality of ingredients available.
While the other members are busy piloting, repairing, healing, jury rigging weapons etc. before a job. One of the players cooks up something that can boost the crew's strain threshold or give bonus die to certain skill checks for the first encounter.
Because it is EotE the gm decides what the negative results are, and the players get to decide what the positive results are. So the player can talk about how the dish is very filling, they have abundant leftovers, or they've learned a lot about how to cook that particular dish making it easier on them to prepare next time. While the gm can decide if a dish got burned, smells pungent enough to give a set back die for stealth and social checks, lowers your strain threshold, used up more rations than originally expected in preparation, etc.

As a result the players usually try to get as food porny as possible with their descriptions to justify getting buffs out of a few advantage results.

If it's just a regular gaming night it's various candy and cookies

On special occasions we've had reindeer and moose jerky, homemade ginger fudge, homemade setting-appropriate bread, tjälknöl (traditional northern swedish dish consisting of frozen moosemeat that's salted and cooked over 7+ hours) and homemade mead or mulled wine

Can make that from beef too. You don't even need to open the vacuum seal on store bought meat if you cook it at a really low temperature for a long time. That saves 100% of the fluid, which you can mix with salt and the customary spices (I use laurel and juniper) for the post-cooking marinating and cooling.
>>
>>52128349
I usually make Tjälknöl by placing the frozen meant on a bed of coarse salt and cook it at slightly higher degrees than normal (about 80-85 C instead of 70-75C) and pour about 1 dl of water over it when it's been in the oven for 4 hours. That shortens the cooking time from ~12 hours down to ~7 and removes the need for post-cooking marinating, since the meat absorbs the water and a good bit of salt with it, all while giving it a crispy layer on top.

It's slow cooked salty meat; can't really go do it wrong as long as it's tasty. I really prefer slicing it very thinly with a smooth edged meat saw appliance though.

By the way, do you have a suggestion for a way to cook a 2.5kg hunk of frozen boar ham?

ITT: the only people in the world who are too pretentious to just admit they sustain themselves on snacks/crisps/pizza/soda/beer/other things that are incredibly unhealthy while roleplaying.
>>
>>52128657
I've never cooked anything with boar so this is a uneducated guess, but maybe try something like a honey-glazed ham variant?

more like traditional reindeerfucker dish.

I find this piece particularly humorous, albeit a clear waste of food.

So I kinda care.
>>
>>52127942
Is it tasty?
>>
>>52129532
It's factory-made, half-raw pastry covered in awful American cheese wrapped around a greasy pile of unwashed mince, literal chunks of onion, literal chunks of garlic and what looks like... olives?

It doesn't look remotely tasty.

>>52128727
Snacking is a shit-tier habit. It makes you fat.
Same with constant intake of carbonated drinks.

I would still like to know, did they ever find the recipe, or has anyone killed themselves yet trying to recreate it the best they could figure?

Sounds like a job for a slow cooker, if you've got one big enough.

Depends on how tight it is, but rarely more than a minute desu. It's not like I'm here to please it.

Usually eat pizza or something beforehand while everyone is getting there and we're setting up our stuff. We don't eat during the session, but when first blood is drawn during an encounter I bring out mismatched metal and leaded glass goblets from the thrift store and red wine.

Some types of garlic naturally separate into boat-like pieces. If you are using chinese garlic, just use a small one.

Oh sorry, I should have used a comma. 'The best, man.' Would have been appropriate.

Nothing, we wait til after/before the meal if we're eating together, and if not, we just don't do food. It isn't like we're gonna die without it for an hour.
