We had 5 tables:
1 footslogging csm vs footslogging imperium, was pretty fluffy and friendly. Abaddon our warlord survived.
2 necrons vs bt and sisters. Their warlord Celestine fucking died, guy ragequited turn 3.
3 daemons and warhound titans vs 30k marines, marines got raped.
4 tau and ig vs wolf power player(its always fucking wolfs) i got hit bad, because i was fighting 30k marines and wolfs, but held the fucking line. We threw everything we got at cavalry, and he couldn't get to our surges and taunar.
5 tau tyranids vs space marines. I don't know what sm was doing. He bought a lot buildings, and tried to hide from tau, but still got fucked hard.
We won turn 4.

Had a game today, 2150pts 2v2. Our Eldar vs Black Templars and Grey Knights. Needless to say, we kerbstomped the Marines, my Striking Scorpions alone solo'd a TH/SS termie squad with attached Chaplain. Is there a fixed Eldar fandex, like there is for Orks by SpaceOdin? Sick of winning so easily, I want a fun narrative game where both sides can win equally. I was originally going to buy my next units based on the outcome of the battle, but because I win everytime there's no real choice involved. And I'm a newbie player, and was playing against 2 guys that had 4+ years experience on me each, what the fuck. I knew the balance was bad, but this bad? Jesus christ, I feel guilty as hell whenever I play. Would allying in a weaker army even things up a bit? Any suggestions for houserules? D weapons seem utterly broken, I just delete stuff off the board, is there some rule I'm missing where they aren't as good as they seem? Why can I shoot then assualt but no-one else can?

They didn't even get anything when their iconic planet fell in Fall of Cadia. They don't sell well and are expensive to buy, monotonous to paint, and they aren't great on the tabletop. Also you got to realise that it makes since to create those new marines. For the past few decades the normal marines kept failing in protecting the Imperium (See Kauyon/Mont'ka, Shield of Baal, Fall of Cadia, etc). The Imperium continued to get pushed back and the setting entered into what we can call a second Old Night. Now Girlyman seeing the failing of the Imperium and its marines declares a new Great Crusade and a new crusade needs new super troopers.

It's upsetting. I was playing Space Marine the other day and almost every time there is dialog there is a line about how the Imperial Guard have done well to hold the line, but that they will absolutely fall if you don't come to save them. Even Fall of Cadia pretty much opened up with how Cadia already fell. Guard don't get any glory at all even though there's plenty of room for small teams of special op tier Guard or Scions that could do some really cool stuff. Characters like Straken are Yarrick are pretty awesome and they could definitely include more stuff like that.

They should obviously start with the most unbalanced codex to tone it down. Eldar should be the first 8th and then Tau and after they have been toned down then we get the other armies, but that won't happen. They throw shitter armies under the bus to see how the edition plays out then create better rules for better selling armies.

They know we love the armies regardless of how shit the rules are. We've proved it to them for years so they can just throw something out there and we'll take what we can get because it's our army and we want to play it. And if we were suddenly to stop playing, it wouldn't matter because the better selling stuff is still selling nicely.

Honestly, that would be my personal favourite solution. Combine ALL Space Marines into a single codex that follows the current one's pattern with Warlord traits, relics and Chapter Tactics at first as a base and release a separate supplement for every chapter parallel to that, which then goes in-depth with things and deviates from the core codex if you want to use it, similar to how Farsight Enclave works.

Do that for every Chaos Legion as well and just about everyone will be happy.

Speaking of Guard in 8th, I'd like to see the Guard line adopt a new aesthetic. Perhaps something in between the 30k Solar Auxilia and the 40k Cadian Guard Regiments; a style that incorporates more cloth and looks less fancy than the former, but is less generic and more 40k than the latter. Not Tempestus, either; they would be more rugged and less "tech-y" than that.

Ideally, including the option for full-face helmets for all troops. I would think that there are many people who might be interested in Guard, but don't like painting faces and don't have the money for Death Korps. Plus, helmets just look cool.

Plus, they could use this opportunity to reformat the line a bit. Have more kits with multiple assembly options, like the Skitarii sets.

Sup /tg/. I'm the guy from last night that was wanting to switch to a different chapter. I've been spending today painting up some testing schemes for the Steel Confessors, as well as trying out some new techniques for OSL.

Overall I can say that it's great to finally practice painting faces that aren't fucking albinos, but my god the plasma-gun glow effect does not work well when cast against silver armour. It works great when constrained to a small area like on the power fists, but not when spread out over a large area of armour.

Cultists are only good because they're relatively cheap. Don't try to polish a turd by putting dudes in their unit, unless you're just using them as meatshields for a footslogging HQ like Kharn.
