What are some good Archetypes of autonomous machines as both everyday tools and weapons?
using a near-future scifi setting a la MGR, and in need for some Gimmicks and combat tactics for robots, along with what kind of tech i should use to explain them

Given hyperspectral sensors such as millimetre-wave radars, most robots should be able to see through clothing, armor, objects and thin walls to find anything concealed or dangerous.
Robots would have to be EMP-hardened to resist both pulse effects and TEMPEST hacking.
Physical stability in uneven urban terrain is and will continue to be a problem for robotics.
Hacking transmission protocols will become common and prevention will require a Secure Computing Platform (mathematically unhackable, but very complex and expensive) which will most likely make autonomous drones and robots at least 1 generation behind current-edge tech.

Photonics will be more common in the future, along with quantum computing (not just processors, but quantum cryptography, radars, satellites).
Robots can sit in a perfectly dark room or farmer's field and still see everything for miles.
Heat sinks are important for bots or any low-observable vehicle.

These geckos had unsettlingly sexy asses.

Depends what the function of the Robot is; what was it built for.
Data Crunching?
Digital Security?
Moving Objects from place to place?
Household Chores?
Companionship?
Your archetypes should just be generalized purposes.
A toaster with legs.
Rocket legs.
Post walking tanks

The Gecko's artificial muscle legs are actually a really neat idea. They would have a great range of motion and would be much more resistant to damage (no single points of failure) than conventional mechanical legs. And much longer lasting.

Nope.
The black body emission spectrum of air is also the absorption spectrum of air. Hot airs black body emissions are very rapidly attenuated and are not a major contributor to IR signature. Except at close range.
Unless they heat something else indirectly or the cooling air is contaminated by other substances. Gotta keep the exhaust pointed away from the ground.
But generally earth is not space. IR camouflage is completely different here.
Human services bot. C3PO. Everything from home cleaning to child care to bartending to doctoring/nursing.
Military bot. Pick a shape and put guns on it. Drones, terminaters, remote control tanks etc.
Engineer bot: likely the weirdest looking one. Every tool for the job. Matrix tentacle welders
