In a tabletop game recently I smacked over the opponent's ball carrier, followed up and then rolled scatter (it scattered onto my guy) and my opponent goes "no, I roll for scatter because it was my model holding the ball". Is that actually a thing or was he just being That Guy just to keep the ball out of my hands? I've only recently gotten into playing it on tabletop so a lot of the nitty gritty dice stuff that the videogames did for me are hard to adapt to (that and losing rerolls due to illegal proceedings when I forget to move my turn counter).

I'm playing for the first time in years with a completely new player. Any resources (besides the rulebook and the quicksheet they provide you) that can give clear, concise step-by-steps for playing that I can give to my friend?

Learning how to structure your turn around taking low risk actions before higher risk ones is probably the most useful thing for a new player to grasp. So you could probably do a general step by step along the lines of:

1. Stand up players (and move them if they're unmarked)
2. Move unmarked players and prepare your block assists
3. Make blocks, starting with the advantaged ones with skills (eg 2 die with a Block player before 2 die without Block).
4. Make dodges in order of difficulty (2+ before 3+, etc.)
5. Make any attempts to handle the ball, like pickups, handoffs, pass attempts

This is super generalized but overall a decent structure to follow. Knowing when to break it is someone that simply comes with the experience of playing games and weighing the situations you find from turn to turn. And overall, that order is superseded by one golden rule: Secure the Ball. If you are carrying it, then you do what you need to do to first make sure that if your very first die roll fails, that the ball is safe. If you are defending, then you do what you need to do to make sure that if your very first die roll fails, that the ball can't completely escape you.

Blood Bowl is dog shit. British faggots have been inbreeding on the same little island for like 2000 years, and this is the kind of game they tend to come up with. The rules are imbalanced and broken, and the only reason Games Workshop exists is to sell overpriced miniatures to old fat ugly nerds who gave up going outside and shut themselves in Mom's basement. Fuck off home.

What're some good skills for slann catchers and linemen? I understand the end goal is to have wrestle and fend on most linemen, and I have one with wrestle and strip ball to get the ball loose for the catchers, as well as one with just kick.

But which is more important as the starting skill? Wrestle or fend?

Additionally, is pass block good on a catcher? I have 4: 1 rookie, 1 with guard, 1 with sure hands, and 1 that needs a general or agility skill to upgrade.

Pass block on a Slann catcher is probably one of the only combos I would go after if it wasn't the end of the player's development because intercepting on a 4+ RR is really, really gross. Even then, probably better to get a couple other skills on them first or else your opponent will just make sure they knock your pass block catcher down before attempting a pass.

Also do you even know if you expect to see any pass heavy teams like High Elves or Elf Union? If not, no need to plan so specifically against passes.

I expect to see some high elves at the very least. And there is a modified kickoff table that includes a +1 to pass option. With pass block and catch I can force my opponent to either spend resources pinning him down, or not pass at all. Either option is good for me and my frogs. And even if they don't pass, having a catcher with diving catch and catch is still a key player.

Its not like pass block will be entirely useless if I bring it. Its an effective ability (scary with slann catchers), an amazing passing deterrent, and still on a capable platform so I don't feel like its being wasted.

The only problem I'm having is deciding between the pass block catch catcher, or a kick lineman and a single skill on the catcher.

Anyone know where to get good female player models? My girlfriend's extremely interested in Blood Bowl, her eyes lit up when I showed her how to play, and I thought it'd be cool to give her at least a few female players on the human team.

So, I've seen lots of discussion about how the Bretonnian team isn't very good. I just saw that the addition of Agility access to the Knights is a fairly recent change, and apparently most of the discussion about them was before that. is this enough to actually make Bretonnians a decent team?

Through an immense amount of luck I've somehow made it to the finals of my local Blood Bowl league. Unfortunately I've now got to face the undefeated Chaos team that stomped me last time.

Any good tips for fighting Chaos with Skaven?
I haven't seen his list since week two but I remember he has a fuck load of beastmen/linemen and a Minotaur, though this may have changed in the past 9 games.

Disclaimer: I'm not the original writefag (RIP), but I simply missed seeing these little pre-season writeups so I thought I'd try my hand. Apologies if I'm not up to snuff, it's hard to be as thorough in my research as he was.

Welcome back, Blood Bowl fans, to a new season for the /tg/ fumbbl league! I'm your host Jim, and this is my co-host Bob (say hello, Bob). It's been some time since we've had a look at the teams returning to the veterans division, and there's been lots of exciting developments since then! Some fresh new faces, and some old broken ones too. Let's get started!

Amorican Psycho - Coach King_Ghidra has returned from a two season hiatus, to once again head the Amorican Psychos. They’ve got a solid record under the belt with 6/3/3, but haven’t left their mark on any playoff events yet. Worth noting they held the #3 rookie spot back at the end of season 3, and would have qualified to play in the rookie playoffs under the current season organization. They’re also the only Skaven team in league history to employ the notorious Rat Ogre, with mixed results. Will Patrick Bateman II be the deciding difference between the Amorican Psychos and their rival Skaven team, Gutter Go Fast?

Badlands Board of Orthodontics - A fast developing rookie team, these destructive dentists broke tooth and limb alike on their way to season 6’s rookie playoffs, only to be stymied by the buxom belladonas in the Lostworld Eschers. But enough alliteration! We’ve got another interesting exception in team composition here, as the Badlanders hired a goblin and troll halfway through last season. No notable plays have come of it yet, but in the meantime Dr. Timothy Trulove helps enforce the traditional orc method of victory: putting the opposition on the ground and making sure they stay on the ground.

Dead Doornails - One of the three season 1 teams returning to veterans for season 7. The Dead Doornails had a poor run in season 4, outside of a surprise win against lizardmen team Quickslithers, and left their old team captain behind. The team is notable for its remarkably agile players, as even with the loss of Herr Hausen, wight Gristlejaw and ghoul Jacque could be a dangerous combination.

Department of Sanitation - A fresh yet rotten Nurgle team moving up from rookies. This team made it to the rookie semifinals in season 5 but otherwise had a relatively middling debut. Beast of Nurgle Fluffy should prove to be an obstacle to avoid, being that much harder to shift out of position thanks to its Block skill.

Gutter Go Fast - The other returning Skaven team, as well-noted for their lightning fast plays as well as their long list of dead players. Blitzer Matal Knackels can’t be kept down, however, continuing to return to the team on three occasions after death. Gutter Runners Sanic the Hegehog and Medal Sanic are especially dangerous players - watch out for field-spanning ball plays from the two of them. They’re coming into the season down a crucial gutter runner, but it shouldn’t hurt their scoring potential too badly.

I Dairy You to Try - Chaos teams have come and gone in the /tg/ league, but coach Ramciamciam’s I Dairy You to Try has stuck with it through 3 seasons and claimed a championship in season 5. Maxwhey’s Demon is especially looked upon fondly by those fickle Gods, but the team is evenly developed across the board and even sports a Minotaur for yet another strength 5 threat. Will they take home another championship this season, or will the Quickslithers reign once again?

Kangz - Sporting a nearly identical record to the Binding of Blood Bowl, coach Sasasing’s Khemri managed to reach the season 5 rookie playoffs, only to be bested by Dem Dorfs Man. The team was in good enough shape to return in season 6 to the veterans division, where disaster struck in their match against First World Chaos, losing two of their valuable Tomb Guardians in one game. As a result the team’s overall development has slowed relative to their rival Khemri team, but veteran players Kings Endsheet and Matthew should provide a solid core for the team’s bash power through their third season.

Lizards Gone Bad - A solid Lizardmen team which has remained in the shadow of veteran team Quickslithers, having lost their first playoff to them back in season 4, they’ve fought through 3 seasons and sport an evenly-developed team with surprisingly little Skink casualties. Skink Charlie seems to have picked up a strange knack for receiving the ball under pressure, but otherwise the team has no standout players. We’ll see how their 4th season goes as they once again square off against the two teams which eliminated them from previous playoffs.

Maximum Marvelous Maiden - A returning favorite, these girls just can’t be kept down. While coach Pizzapocalypse has gone on record lamenting the remarkably even win/tie/loss record the team has maintained over 3 seasons, it is regardless an admirable record for the typically unreliable Vampire teams. Newcomer Dai-dono has nearly caught up with the third sibling, Takara-tan, but both are lacking in development compared to the team stars, Chiyo-chan and Sora-sama. While Sora-sama is certainly the muscle of the team, Maximum Marvelous Maiden still lacks strength in player removal, an issue which, if resolved, could tip a mediocre team record into a strong one this season.

Monkey Business Inc. - A scourge on the rookies division in season 4, Monkey Business Inc. suffered a rough first season in the veterans division the following year. Coach Cmonkey took a season off to head a Halfling team with a bit more success, but is bringing the apes back once again. A steady stream of bonobo casualties has kept this team’s tv from getting out of hand, leaving a strong core in the gorillas to work with in the coming matches.

Quickslithers - The reigning champs return, so far the only team to take the veteran playoffs (or equivalent) more than once, and a frequent leaderboard topper. Coach Tendril let these lizards lie for two seasons to allow for the league time to develop rivaling teams further. Looking at this season’s signups, however, only a couple teams stand out as potential contenders. Will we see a third championship from this powerhouse of a team? Or will a new king be crowned?

Red Fang Rockets - The last season 1 veteran team returning. The Red Fang Rockets went through a nightmarish season 4, losing a number of valuable players to the relentless dirty play of the Snorkland Soulless. A far way to fall after nearly nabbing the championship the previous season, these Orcs have licked their wounds and returned to the field. They still have a decent group of Blitzers to carry the team along, including stars Killdagga and Gutshredda.

Snorkland Soulless - A rising star in the league, this team rushed straight out of rookies to the top of the veterans division in season 4 to go toe to toe with the Quickslithers in the finals. They came right back again in season 5 and again took it to the finals against I Dairy you to Try, only to be denied the cup a second time. Watch for rotter Tadah’s vicious fouls and team killer Daffney Gillfin to raise the team’s casualty count yet more this season. Will the Soulless finally take their first championship, or will their finalist rivals rob them yet again?

While Binding of Blood Bowl claims a below average record, including a defaulted game, the team has had good luck keeping their important players intact and developing steadily. Notably Gantherogue has gone the route of a Sure Hands Blitz-Ra over re-hiring a Thro-Ra.

I've been discussing this a fair amount recently and wanted to get /tg/'s opinion. If I want to build a ball hawk skink, do I take Wrestle or Strip Ball on first double (unless there's a shit ton of Sure Hands around, obviously)? I feel with stunty, they'd be really good at cage diving in to hit the carrier, so Strip Ball seems worthwhile. Alternatively, is it just not worth building a ball hawk skink, and should stick with Block on doubles?
