STEP 1 Go to the last thread if you haven't looked at it. there is lots of stuff, including filled requests directly posted to the board.
>>51965252
Look through the posted open source pdfs and pics and stuff..
Files posted directly to 4chan are not added to Da Archive, so go grab them now.

STEP 2 Grab your Documents: Da Archive is multiple documents.

STEP 7 If you want MORE, the previous threads are all archived in here:
http://archive.4plebs.org/tg/search/subject/PDF%20share/

There are other 4chan archives somewhere as well.
7chan might also be able to help.

STEP 42
Please give as much information as you can when you make a request. The more information you give (cover, a link to product, name of designer/writer/publisher) - the more chances someone might recognize it and upload it.

If you post a list of requests, Please make them a column, not a sentence.
ie
Zombie Hookerz
Lysergia Fur, The AnthroBrit Invasion RPG
Slutty NPCs for Everyone.
Dirty Backstabbers
Cheerleaders the Hottubbing

← I had to put this text in an image because 4Chan refused to load it as a pdf. Must be potent stuff, odd.

Step 45 Da Archivist Does Not Have An Opinion.
He sits on the side of a river and writes down everything that floats by.
Yachts, canoes, trees, trash, bodies... and he logs them all.

Opinions are best used when Anon asks; "What is a good X for Y?" If they ask, we INVITE you to climb on your soapbox and give us your Best sales pitch. Many of us are quite interested in learning about them.

STEP 5 Please be patient with the Irrepressible Urchins who request without looking first. They are a regular feature here. They help bump the thread, and they want to look at something that's not porn. They might even read it. You don't have to answer them, although that also bumps the thread.
You don't kick a puppy for not being housebroken. If they upset you, tell your monitor or your teddy bear. Please don't tell us about it.
I understand your frustration, they used to drive me crazy. I would punch the stuffing out of my teddy bear.
>>
>>52074406
>Please be patient
That's an understatement. If you're playing a niche system you can be waiting for months on requests.

P.S. - Remember, We are Better than all of the rest of the horrible internet and Good Manners ALWAYS gets more results. Wise up or please go elsewhere.

STEP Zillion Please post dead links and I will remove them to keep the archive up to date. Be specific - Include a Page Number -, there are dozens of copies of some Pdfs.

STEP: the Next. If you have a fancy pdf that has unwanted clutter on it, here is one way to clean it.
Contact our resident Transmutation Wizard and politely ask him to clean a pdf. He will set his scrying device to accept pdfs and then you ship it to him. Magic occurs, then the pdf is purified.

By the way, Thanks Mageguru, you're the Best!

Please ONLY POST OPEN SOURCE PDFS DIRECTLY IN THIS THREAD. Link the others from elsewhere.
Excessive infractions could cause TPTB to remove the ability to post any pdfs at all.
Check for copyrights before you post anything directly.

Please be respectful and don't belittle others' requests because you dislike the game. Imagine the horrific RPGs I've run across; 'Dragon Dildo Warriors', ‘Smelly Fedora Gods of Angst’, and 'We're All Little Girls (Frilly Dresses Are Mandatory At the Table)' spring to mind.

Things Anon Has Mentioned That are Beyond the Knowledge of Da Archivist
(I edited out the ‘Yarrs’ )

Where to U.p.l.o.a.d.?
“S3ndsp@ce, which I prefer, U53rscl0ud or M3G4 for large collections. Using public wifi would be excessive, imo, and carries its own risks. I usually don't bother, but if you are that concerned, use a VPN. I do.”
“HMA is free and easy disposable anon email.”

“Mega is relatively safe, a little research seems to back this. I have an active account registered using only email as do many, many others 'round heah. You would have to be an extremely flagrant repeat offender before notice would be taken past anything other than a take-down. As another anon mentioned, if you're that noid, use a VPN.
I've never heard of an ISP getting involved unlike trackable torrents and that is mostly because of Hollywood money.
With Mega you get 50 gigs with each standard free account.
It has functions for uploading a whole folder at a time, including everything inside it. So you just select like "A, B, and C" and it does the rest.”

Microscope is a small, hard-to-find game.
You Should Just Go Here: It is like a slideshow demo, probably better/faster than reviewing the rules.

Late in 2015AD the first copy of Da Archive appeared, It was 15 pages long.

Thanks to the efforts of an uncountable number of people, it is the monstrosity it is today - sort of a text version of Howl's Moving Castle.

I Thank You All.

Where do we go from here? I actively solicit input from everyone (yes, even the Irrepressible Urchins) on how this mass of data should be worked. A HUGE percentage of entries are linked to a smallish number of megatroves. This has been OK so far, more chances to find something. The size will keep growing under the format used, even with takedowns. There is probably a better way to do this, and it needs to be one that takes less work than this has turned into.
There are many Generals out there that are doing a fine job of maintaining their genre/subject. That approach could have us end up with maybe 150 megatroves, each devoted to a good or complete collection of
game X. I don't have an answer, but Da Archive is already too big to go through and check for dead links.

One day, maturity will arrive...
>>

Sure, but they suck at that, and should never have been turned into that. IMO, alignment was best when it was juist picking a supernatural team, and taking up arms in the cosmic fight between Law and Chaos.

>Not Good/Evil

>>
>>52126626
No man, alignment is a great system, it's literally the best way to create stupid arguments at a gaming table :^)

In all seriousness, I agree with you if you want to use the battle between law and chaos, then aligning with one of those, and using 'alignment languages' is cool. Otherwise, best to just throw it out and use common sense descriptors and adjectives to describe your character instead.

Principled, selfish, compassionate, generous, ruthless, pragmatic, greedy, zealous, reckless, racist, honest, traditional, dishonest, mercenary, selfcontrolled, indifferent, etc.
>>
>>52126906

Adding the good/evil axis in just leads to edgelord nonsense in my experience. With only the horizontal axis you can have good guys and bad guys on both sides of the conflict, which is great both from a play perspective, and from a DM perspective, since it gives you plenty of stuff to work with..
>>
>>52126906
This guy understands - good and evil are legitimate concepts; reducing them to 'law and chaos' is mere moral relativism - that is, an attempt to justify ANY act one commits, no matter how evil it is ("I serve Law, and will do what I must to ensure the victory of Order." "I serve Chaos, and I will do what I must to ensure the victory of Random Chance.")
The concept of 'Good' removes from the equation the notion of doing ANYthing to achieve victory. With 'Good', suddenly there are rules and limits to one's actions - one cannot slaughter a million innocents if one is 'good'; Now, 'good' may have to abandon them; but they cannot outright slaughter them. But Law or Chaos have no such restrictions at all; there's no morality in the Law/Chaos equation. Lawful guys behave in an ordered fashion; chaotics behave in a random fashion; but none of their actions are restricted by notions of 'goodness'.
'Evil' actions are unrestricted. They serve only to aggrandize the evil who perpetrates them.

Tl;dr - morality is necessary, if only to show which characters will do anything to serve themselves and which characters will not...
>>
>>52126917
>Principled, selfish, compassionate, generous, ruthless, pragmatic, greedy, zealous, reckless, racist, honest, traditional, dishonest, mercenary, selfcontrolled, indifferent, etc.
Uhhh - hate to break it to you, anon: all of these can be divided quite nicely between 'good' and 'evil'. You've changed the words; but the concepts are still 'good' and 'evil'.
Now, I know 'morality' is considered a four-letter word these days; but you yourself posted this list of good and evil descriptors. The concept of good and evil, while it may be dismissed as 'old-fashioned' or 'hokey', is, as you have just demonstrated, quite alive and well: it just uses different words....
>>
>>52128235
>Pragmatic, Reckless, Traditional, Mercenary, Selfcontrolled
>all of these can be divided quite nicely between 'good' and 'evil'

>>
>>52128235
How incredibly shortsighted.

Let me give you an example.

A little girl believes in santa claus, and then asks you do you believe too? Do you tell her the good and honest thing that he doesn't exist and break her little heart, or do you do the bad and dishonest thing and help her enjoy her childish fantasy?

If your answer is instead, honesty and dishonesty aren't necessarily good or evil, it depends, well then you've finally realized why objective alignments are shit.
>>
>>52128430
You gotta get goad, friendo.
'Pragmatic' and 'Reckless' are fairly opposite, and it's easy to see which goes where. 0/10
'Traditional' requires continuity from one generation to the next; and respect from the next generation for the previous generation. Can't have that with depraved selfishness, i.e. 'evil'. That was a little harder, so: 1/10
'Mercenary' is doing whatever you're paid to do; no moral consideration there at all, which puts 'mercenary' in the 'evil' camp. Easy. 0/10
And you don't know which side 'self-control' belongs on?! Anon, this better be bait, 'cause I truly hope you ain't that dumb. 0/10

lolwut, indeed.
>>
>>52128499
So, in your world, 'honesty' is Good, and breaking a child's heart is, erm, ALSO Good.
Huh.
But, setting aside your hamfisted attempt at cleverness would be wrong: so let's dissect your argument. You make the false equivalency between 'honesty' and 'shattering a child's belief system'. That's woefully disingenuous argumentation.
What a delightfully silly little example you have there, anon.
How incredibly shortsighted.

>pragmatic is good

You see a man and wife getting into a fight, the man starts beating the woman. The pragmatic thing to do is not get involved, because it's none of your business and you don't know what happened before you saw it, and things could get nasty for you if you do. But it wouldn't be the right thing to do in most people's mind. If you don't understand why morality is subjective, there's something seriously wrong with you.

Thank you all for bumping the thread and staying vaguely civil. This is a subject I have heard discussed for Thirty-Six Years. If it stays polite, friendly, and respectful it is tolerable here.

Rolemaster's Middle Earth game has a system I found to be functional. They use three personality descriptors and only those tainted by Sauron/Morgoth are evil. PC's usually are only evil if they learn dark magic that is powered by Sauron. A person can be a colossal jerk and do horrible things, but does not register on the evilometer unless there is a little bit of Sauron in his soul.

Beautiful artwork
>>
>>52139000

Well, initially it wasn't intended as a guideline, either. In OD&D, it's more like declaring what team you're on in a war between supernatural Law and Chaos, where Law is the gods of men and civilization, and Chaos is the wild forces of nature and disorder and the things that existed before man's gods came. There were good and bad guys on both sides, but even so Law is just liable to hang you, while Chaos is liable to cut your still-beating heart out of your chest and eat it as you die, foolish man-thing.

It just needs a bestiary and it'd be perfect. Of course you could always crib from other bestiaries though I don't think it's totally compatible with 5e.
Thankfully you can probably just grab any old school module, convert ACs, then just roll with it. Alternatively, this works too.
>>

Maybe it's just my perspective, but the real vitriol seems to have been spawned by the first books that made alignments part of the magical mechanics (Except Neutral, my default in most cases.)

It's after that when we started getting hard RAW players who would freak out if you were TN because they couldn't look at 2 letters on your sheet and tell you how you're supposed to be playing.

Before it made a difference mechanically rule sticklers gave negative 10 fucks about it.

Again, My Perspective. Having only played in 5 or 6 long campaigns of actual D&D, I don't feel qualified to say I speak for the hobby.

Love SOFU! I've just found that Fuckin' D&D Is easier for my modern D&D players to get into as it's just SOFU with forwards AC and a couple nods to modern stuff like the popularity of the Dragonborn.

I run Fuckin' D&D One Shots with random gen characters when one or more of my players can't make the game and they're too important to that moment in the campaign to just NPC.

I'd never suggest it for long term play, but for a one shot or two it's more than sufficient to feed the dice cravings.
>>
>>52144886
That's probably more than what most people who do feel qualified to say they speak for the hobby have played.

To expand on this, are there any threads here that people talk about blue planet, or should I make my own?

So I know this is the PDF share thread, but I wanted to know if I could get some system recommendations.

My group wants to do something light and hack-n-slashy, and I've been reading a bunch of dungeon meshi/Overlord and the like- Now I sort of want to run a campaign where the player characters actually do grow more powerful through experience gain(not just learning, but physically gain new abilities through defeating obstacles). Does /tg/ have any systems that fit with that? I really want Fighters/martial classes to have abilities too.
>>
>>52101721
Anybody familair with this system? Care to tell what it's like to run/play it?

Anything that differentiates it? Like any reason to try it over Monster Hearts, Smallville, or Nicotie Girls?
>>
>>52158048
If you want really rules light and simple, Barbarians of Lemuria is quite good, it's also reasonably fighter oriented.

If you want a bit more crunch to your rules and a bit more dark fantasy to your setting, with a very distinct playstyle that separates towns/wilderness/dungeons then try Torchlight.

If you want far more crunchy, but with an interesting combat system that focuses more on melee over range, and melee over magic, and an excellent and detailed setting, then try Hackmaster 5th.
>>
>>52158151
I'll definitely check those out(I think I have Lemuria still from an earlier thread) - I'm not so much looking to focus only on fighters, I just want fighters/melee classes to have specials/abilities as well so no one feels left out.(think RPG-tier shit-I'm going for a bit of camp/Hack N Slash over anything edgy)
>>
>>52158048

Maybe take a look at Fantasy Craft, it's very crunchy, but characters grow crazy powerful in it, martials especially so.

BoL is supposed to be very swords and sorcery, conan style, so you can rest assured that fighters won't ever feel left out and it's quite hack and slash.

Torchlight is a bit more about resource management.

Hackmaster has a combat system that ensures fighters don't just remain competitive, having at least a single fighter in the party even at higher levels is vital. Magic users are flexible, but suffer spell fatigue, and thus are extremely vulnerable during spellcasting and for some time afterwards.
>>
>>52158287
>>52158206

Torchlight is like Darkest Dungeon in terms of tone. Straight up SUFFERING the whole way through. Like, it's fun, but possibly not what they want, especially after mentioning comedies like Dungen Meshi and Overlord.

No problem, I was very into FC for a while until I realized that me and crunchy systems don't get along. Here's my favorite feat sequence. Notice how En Garde! lets you go into total defense, autohit a dude who approaches you, then when he misses you (because total defense), Work the Line means you can draw him back with you into the square you were just in. But hey, that means he just entered a square you threatened, so you hit him with En Garde! a second time! It really lets you treat the bad guys like chumps.
As does the Supremacy trick - Touche! means that you can choose to blithely one-shot any ordinary mook who can't match your dexterity.
>>

Oh, I agree. It's incredibly personal in terms of taste, and not everyone would be up for that sort of game. I just like throwing interesting and well designed games at people that they might find exactly what they were looking for, or could adapt to be what they were looking for.
>>
>>52158453
Yes, I am looking for more light-hearted stuff.

I have a bunch of gaming group friends that are sort of burned out on huge sandbox games and over-serious grimdark, so I want to run something more shonen-y. Not PG-rated, but I want to give them a Ham BBEG and a pretty straightforward plot.

I know some of them aren't that good at handling complex mechanics as a spellcaster, but they end up taking them because fighters usually don't have much to do on their turn, so turning it into a pseudo-JRPG where martial classes have their own abilities/stuff might help.

That sounds off. According to this, I can murder and slay to my heart's content so long as I don't serve Sauron? Buuuuuuuuuut.....is Malice not Sauron's purview? Would not the very act of murder and mayhem be serving Sauron, whether you directly acknowledge his sovereignty or not?
Yeah, that system is wrong. Elves fought dwarves, and vice versa, throughout Middle Earth's history: both races violently opposed Sauron; but, according to the alignment system you describe, elf vs. dwarf is NOT evil?? And, also according to this system, the elves could wipe out all the hobbits, and still NOT be evil????
That doesn't work at all.....

Doing nothing solves...nothing. Nothing is in no way a 'practical' solution.
In the situation you describe, the practical solution would be to engage verbally with the disputants; to call the police; to gather a group of like-minded citizens and interpose yourselves between the disputants. Doing nothing offers no practical results at all. Pragmatic = practical, useful, effective. It does not = easy.

Sorry, anon: THAT'S where things get sticky; because there is no system of laws and rules that can cover ALL situations and ALL eventualities. See, you're mad right now...yer mad as hell, and you're looking for a fight, hence your deliberate bait - you want to suck me into a fight with you. You are desperate for a fight right now. It didn't occur to me that posting a comedic modernization SotU would inspire such a debate.

>Principled, selfish, compassionate, generous, ruthless, pragmatic, greedy, zealous, reckless, racist, honest, traditional, dishonest, mercenary, selfcontrolled, indifferent, etc.

I've done this before, played in a few systems where characters have quirks and flaws as well as positive versions. It works surprisingly well, and is much more useful than any more oldschool alignment systems.

-The difference between 3rd and 4th (there might be more as well, not sure) is that the author took out all the things that were copyright infringement to make it follow the guidelines for a SW product (e.g not posting edges in full but saying 'refer to page X in the corebook').
