Is there any specific tactic to use?

So far all I see is maybe kite infantry with magic/ranged and attack or defend units with my blobs.

With my limited knowledge on AoS from the few games I've played, stormcast are basically space marines in 40k. You out damage and out armour everything but you lack numbers and casualties hurt you a lot. I'm going to assume that stormcast are vulnerable to magic and ranged attacks, so I would recommend mixing them with something that can protect agaisnt that. I don't think you need to worry at all about melee damage

if you're worried about magic they have one of most effective anti-magic characters in the game to more than cover you in that area.

I don't agree about them being weak to ranged attacks since SC get access to some of the best movement trickery in the game. Those "appear on any table edge any turn" guys and the "teleport a unit anywhere" guy make trying to shoot SC to death a terrible strategy.

Well, when I built my army I built it around "my dudes", e.g: My chaos warband is lead by Frekror the Bloated, a lord of Plagues that has many maruader followers with him, along with some chaos spawns and his pet Blubbermaw, a beast of Nurgle that just want to play. Chose what you want to branch out into.

Khorne adds more hitting power

Nurgle with add survivability

Tzeentch will add magic

Slaneesh will add speed and attacks

Stick with slaves and you can keep chaos knights as battleline, useful with a chaos lord on mount. Sorcerer on manticore is also good.

Keep in mind that you can also summon in daemons if you want, you just have to leave the reinforcement points aside, and you can chose during the game what daemons would perform best for the task.

Lastly, you can also use Skaven to pump the enemy full of mortal wounds.

Last thing, Sayl from forgeworld has been in almost every tournament list so far. If you're looking to be super competitive, he's a good pick.

Misread the question. Celestiant prime cannot use a command ability since he doesn't start on the board. He does dish out mortal wounds, and can smack down anything with his 3 rend, but he is a glass cannon. Likely to die soon after he lands.

Tzeentch doesn't seem to be particularly synergistic. Most of their stuff seem to do their own thing, and the only really good command ability is the Lord of Change's and widespread buffs aside from some xenophobic things like Tzaangors and their Shaman are rare.

You can't. Just provide an open invitation to anyone willing to try it out. The best you can do is if you do get someone to play with, play during the warhammer nights where most people gather, and you are bound to get a few onlookers or people notice the banter and general fun you will be having.

AoS is a superior rules system, but 40k players suffer from the frog in boiling water syndrome. After so long getting bullshit after bullshit added on top, they fail to see it for its resounding flaws and general clunkiness. I was in the same boat, then as I played AoS more, I really can't stand to touch 40k, and that was the game that got me into this hobby.

I think that when you've been living with the amount of needless complexity and bloat that 40k has, the streamlined approach of AoS makes it look deceptively simple.

Rather than having dozens of special rules you just have everything you need to know on one page per unit.
40k players don't realize how much the 3+/4+ can be augmented by +/- modifiers and/or rend.
They also don't seem to realize that the vast majority of 40k is ALSO 3+/4+

One of the things I like about AoS is that it does away with bullshit like AP values.

Celestant on foot is always good, Castellant is near mandatory, Veritant is very strong.

Hinterlands warband I'm toying with:

>3 Wildwood Rangers

I'd like to do Wanderers because they're sort of a pet faction to me, but I'm worried their low armor values will show even more in Hinterlands than in a full game. Especially since I can't use a Spellweaver to revive slain models.

Thought replacing the Wildwood Rangers with some Glade Guard or Eternal Guard to get more numbers on the table. However, the very dated Glade Guard models turn me off, and I feel the Arcane Bodkins ability might be considered a bit too powerful on such a small scale.

As for Eternal Guard, although I like how the models look, they're at their peak when not moving, which isn't great in Hinterlands. Plus, Wildwood Rangers fit more thematically when it comes to skimish-level games like this.

I was thinking about maybe inserting some Waywatchers instead, but I can't figure out a good proxy for them aside from the Glade Guard.

I've been wondering about this. My LGS has a stack of like a dozen extra starter sets, and while I've gotten my Stormcasts out of a few sets that they were willing to break down, i feel bad about it.

Yes this is true. So when you roll a 6, you actually rolled a 5. This causes the spider venom to not go off. Now if you had a +1 to hit, such as bellowing tyrant or battlebrew, this can offset the -1 to hit.

So for example. Your spider does a mortal wound on 6's (or d3 if you the big momma Spider with wizard). You give momma spider battle brew as an artefact. And you have a grot warboss on spider. He uses his command ability to allow spiderfangs to get poison on 5 or 6's and maybe even uses bellowing tyrant on the momma spider. Now the spider if it attacks anything but the bats, does mortal wounds on a 3+ and hits on a 2+. But with the bats -1 to hit, that goes back up to a 4+.

DESU I'm a noob in the same position, just started on KBB and mostly enjoying painting something that isn't power armour. Posted my Bloodreavers in here a while ago and working on my Bloodsecrator at the moment.

I think their main weakness is supposed to be a lack of mobility and range. People often seem to splash Khorne Daemons for Skull Cannons to give them range and then pick up some Chaos Knights and Chariots for more mobile units.

I, on the other hand, am falling down the classic trap of trying to turn my Bloodreavers into human blenders.

I have 20 tzaangors + Ogroid and Ganut form Silver Tower. Are they better as 20 guys blob or 2x10? What fillers are good? Bird guys with bows? Or Acolytes? Or Daemons?

since you are doing matched play, the shamans that summon additional goats are not that good, since those units come out of your summoning pool.

you might think about splashing into Slaves to Darkness, since a Chaos Warshrine dedicated to Tzeentch will synergize with your Tzeentch Mortals. Slaves to Darkness have some fast units too in the form of cavalry and chariots, but you will likely rely on your own powerful Tzeentch units to do the kiling. StD also have some really durable units. Buffed up Tzeentch Chaos Warriors are very hard to displace.

Yes give him a hoarfrost and a lord castellant save buff and throw him at big models. With a 2+ rerollable save he usually survives 2-3 rounds of combat and the -1 hit debuff from hoarfrost really starts to stack up.

The Emerald Citadel is home to many secrets, as the ruined capital of the old Jade Kingdom of Verandon, there’s a neverending font of mysteries to be unlocked among its rubble. One of the first was that of the Grand Orrery, a magical astronomancer tool that was used to map the heavens and divine the positions of the realms and thus the winds of magic. Such a tool is a powerful one, but relatively useless to chaos barbarians and thus was cast down.
Rebuilt to some of its former majesty, the Orrery is now maintained by the Lord-Ocular of the Emerald Canticle, Willen Realmwatcher, and his students. The Lord-Ocular’s former job was in a similar vein, and with this new tool he’s more accurately able to predict the wild swings of the various winds, as well as how the realms and heavens shift to wax and wane certain powers. Using this knowledge, the Emerald Canticle is more capable of planning assaults while Sigmar’s blessings are great and avoid dark omens when the winds of Chaos loom.
Willen is a peculiar master, and his acolytes are some of the poorer kept of the Lords. He has no patience nor time for empathy, every second is a closing of one gate and an opening of another in the sky, and thus he drowns himself in his books, constantly chasing some secret or mystery of the heavens. His acolytes are constantly underfoot, bringing him some beckoned tome or scroll, a new candle or lamp, or even some minor magical trinket to augment his focus. Though many acolytes cannot handle the stress and rigors of the day to day, the ones that stay find themselves sometimes blessed with just a drop of answers of the cosmos from the Lord-Ocular. Such truth is an addictive drought, and one that leaves the body frail and tired but the mind aching for more.

Chaos Dwarf army
Essentially, when the end times hit and the world got fucked, a splinter of em was lost in a realm without any actual resources whatsoever, and with nothing to mine or forge, Hashut was displeased with them, punishing them severely. In a last ditch effort to come up with something or face death, the Daemonsmith leader of this faction was able to bind the body and soul of one of his chaos dwarf soldiers into a fine, yet horrifying jewel, similar to making diamonds from ashes. This pleased the dark god, and so this faction set about, looking for any living creature they could find to make more horrifying jewels from. The more innocent and pure, the finer it shined and the greater it's brilliance. But each of these Jewels are obviously cursed for anyone not of chaos. Hundreds of years of roaming the realms and repeating this dark art, the faction grew to get a sick enjoyment of it, valuing the evil gems and desiring more for their dark hoard. Building a massive vault with wheels, they would sack entire villages, and burn the innocent into ashes, only to be pressed into these gems. Eventually, they learned how to forge living beings into their armor as well, as they had with daemons. These horrifying sets of armors and shields would contort like living flesh, as the damned souls trapped within would feel the pain of every blow. Now during the Age of Sigmar, this twisted splinter of Chaos Dwarfs still roam from realm to realm, looking for more innocent lives to forge into their gems, and add to their ever growing hoard of accursed treasure, all in the name of their dark god.

New AoS player here (Death!), don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing 40K. But I absolutely agree, I love playing Sigmar because it is simple yet complex, which is what a game should be. More importantly to me, the armies play like their fluff implies they play, which is honestly what draws a player into a world like this, only improving over time luckily.I so hope 8E 40K is made to play to a logical extent like AoS

I was talking to a FLGS owner yesterday about this, him and the other coworkers, guys, girls, husbands, wives, girlfriends, etc. were all over fun and nice and loved playing, but man, did he have micro and macroagressions against AoS. He thinks it's a good game with awesome models, but he couldn't get past the old world being gone, and, strangely, acted as if the fluff implied it never existed "Not my sequel to fantasy etc etc."

I didn't understand that, it obviously fucking takes place after, no one is rewriting the fucking lore, the mortal realms are just different. Is it as rich in history? Absolutely not, but let any good world, it needs time to get to that point. I get that you played for years upon years, and yeah there was a lot of good things to love about fantasy, but I've met other vets who agree the game got way too bloated and had codex creep just like 40k. The game is fun, the special rules are few and far between, and holy fucking shit, if the rule about settra or whomever (which I find fluffy and hilarious) really means that fucking much to you that you lament about tying your shoes and losing abilities, just don't fucking use it! I can't stand being told not to like something because it isn't your preferred thing. Just because something is changed, it doesn't mean it's not real or #NOTMYFANTASY

I have a concetp involving some mixed forces with my lizard men, the seraphon part is heavily drempt of by a slann given visions of old ones technology, making their weapons appear more advanced and technical, on top they have allies, a storm hoast primarily reforged from old lizardmen heroes of old called the "Lash of Sotek"

I'm trying to convert them but am trying to find a steady supply of lizardy parts that are the right size for a storm cast conversion.

But I guess the jist of it is, sci-fi lizardfolk meet DnD dragonborn paladins.

Outside that I had plans for a sylvanneth wargrove called "the steelthorn overgrowth" who planted down in the realm of metal and have earned the hatred of the fyreslayers for nesting on a vein of ur-gold

I think it sounds awesome. and especially fits for a C'Tan. You can easily wash and layer/drubrush the necron green glow onto the skulls on the abyssal terror and freehand some Necron lines on it with Caliban Green --> Warpstone Green ---> Moot Green. If you even want to show a Necron controlling him (via the leash you spoke of), and show him or her off as a brutal warlord that won't take their foot of the C'Tan's neck as it were, put an overlord or someone on top as a mount! Really awesome idea!

My initial plan was to put the wraith like thing from the actual tesseract vault on top of it, while I would use the vault as an obalisk, I'd also ad those freaky torn metal bits from the vault kit and attach them to the beast judiciously. Was going to use the head from the neferata version as it looks blinded like an elated beast should be, and the riders can be caniballized into handy bitz

I've got night classes and a job full time, but I have been very slow yes.
