Heavily modified Kingmaker.
GM was kind of an edgy shit for a while (way too into Game of Thrones for his own good) and most of the players just circlejerked over politics and tried to "prove" Communism could work.

I played the proverbial "ninja in a political intrigue game" by rolling a Bard-barian and ended up living happily with the knightess the GM had intended to be the main antagonist.
>>
>>52051090

I wish I knew.
>>
>>52051126
Heya, if the GM let you get away with that, they don't sound that bad.
>>
>>52051161
Like I said,
>and edgy shit for a while
He grew out of it quick and turned the game into gold. Turns out that actually running through his dungeons and fighting his monsters and furthering (or tampering with) his story was a lot more fun for him than refereeing while college-commies go over paperwork.

It was a rather grim campaign. A lot of evil witchcraft and horrifying monsters. I quite enjoyed it while it lasted.

So would it be possible to apply the effects of an Infestation using Plague Powder or would I need some other way of doing that?

Like, all the way through, or "last one you played in"? Because of the latter, it was Shattered Star. Our sorceress FINALLY got to cast confusion on something that wasn't immune, and her one-two punch with the Summoner's Black Tentacle spell completely disabled a pack of a half dozen or so demonic dogs that would have summoned reinforcements had they had a single action to their names.

My last campaign was the one i did for DM training on roll20 with some old friends. Lasted 5-6 months.

But now some other real-life friends asked me to repeat the same campaign, and i'm scared shitless because i wont have all the roll20 maps, tokens and all that good stuff, and im not sure if my vocabulary is big enough to replace actual maps to describe scenery.

I'm considering a game set in a swamp the size of Australia, with a lot of themes related to Southern Gothic, redneck horror, occult phenomena, and voodoo witchery. The goal is to reach the mythical peak of Blood Mountain, where your heart's desire will be granted.

Ok, tell me what went wrong
I was running a game and my players were hired to solve a farmers problem. It was explained that they
(the farmers) were using goats to clear some new land for a farm but they were getting raided every other night and losing goats. And men.
The party goes out and camps by the farmers tents and the goat pen.
During the night one of the kobolds that had been raiding the camp critically fails a stealth check and alerts the member of the party on watch
He does nothing
I even repeated that he heard a cry and a thud by the goat pen
He just keeps trying to see in the darkness whats happening
Finally he sees the large shape of a kobold scampering off with a goat
The party gives chase and kills one kobold but looses the other cus none of them are trackers of even invested in survival but they keep trying to use it.
I finally hand them a lead and they find more kobolds later and promptly murder them.
Two party members speak draconic. It has come up before that they can understand and talk to the kobolds
Heres where it gets stupid. They go back to the camp and are surprised that the farmer that hired them yells at them for losing a goat???
Like they as players were getting pissed at the farmer and threatening violence
I tried to steer them toward different solutions that wasn't murder everything but even my veteran player just wasnt thinking outside the kill box
Was I justified in having the farmer be angry?
How do I make it more clear that maybe, just maybe, they should try something else

Well that just sounds spooky fun. The SoM playtest has been on hold for a bit while I've been MIA, we're reviewing spheres at the moment to see that they're all playtest ready, so that'll hopefully be happening soon.

Also probably next friday Legendary Kineticists II will be out, so that's cool.

Sup /tg/, I need help figuring out what to award a my party for completing an adventure.

The group is 4 players at level 6 with 5 bonus feats each in an Epic 6 campaign (Character levels capped at 6, get feats every 5k exp afterwards) .

The party, an Ogre Mage, a group of 5 crusaders(Clerics and paladins), and a group of 5 orcs(clerics and barbarians) just succeeded in destroying the lair of an undead abomination who was trying to power his negative-energy-nuke by draining a bunch of magic items he stole from a wizard's college They kiled it, although 3 orcs and 4 crusaders died in the process. The nuke itself was kept by the ogre mage.

I described the floor as being littered with drained, partially drained, and soon-to-be drained magic items.

What's a good assortment of items to have be in there for them to find? What's a good amount of money for them to keep? They recently managed to get awarded an estate at the end of their last adventure, so that could be used as a bit of a money sink.
>>
>>52051452
Anything yer willing/able to share with us about what we'll see for Playtest 4?
>>
>>52051424
How angry was he? Some players just have a knee-jerk reaction that they never grow out of, and it goes as such:
>you dare to be mildly disrespectful to me?
>I KILL YOU TO PROVE ME THE BIG MAN AND YOU A BITCH
And they can get triggered by something as simple as an NPC being mildly indignant with them.

If he was actually getting abusive towards them, then it's a little more understandable taht they might enter berserker mode. Otherwise they're just idiots.

It should have every sphere and class intended for the full release; which I don't think will include my poison sphere. We're doing an alchemy sphere for the core book that works with base poisons, and my poison sphere is basically a rewrite of the poison rules, which to me is sorely needed. Right now we're debating about alchemy and poison, as they technically cost money to use your abilities, and we aren't super happy about that at the moment, but it's hard balancing their utility/power without a cost.
>>
>>52051464
I'd advocate for Dragon Style--it has more return on investment and the next feat in its chain, Dragon Ferocity, is amazing for a character with high Strength.

If you're committed to going low-Strength, like you're running a Dex-focused build, Jabbing Style might work better. But rolling extra dice doesn't count for a whole lot compared to having a big ol' modifier to your base damage roll, and Dragon Style + Power Attack + a high Strength should get you all you need.
>>
>>52051515
What's this about Gish classes within spheres of power and spheres of might?
>>
>>52051424
Sounds like both you and your party are having some levels of miscommunication. Maybe you are retarded, maybe they are, but it's probably a little bit of both.

Sit down and explain everything. give them some wisdom checks that if they pass (with 4+ players making them, someone will pass) you give them some common sense.

I just don't know.

What are some hidden gem feats for two-handed martials using the full gamut of PoW?
>>
>>52051539

Thankfully we also had a couple weebs and a china-boo who kept teasing us that he'd go full Cao Cao and start a civil war, and they kept it pretty real.
>>
>>52051546
Horn of the Criosphinx, if your GM allows it to apply to all the attacks you make while using Raging Hunter Pounce or similar maneuvers.
>>
>>52051515
Ooh, poison and mundane alchemy sounds like it'd be neat anyways.. Maybe ingredients for making your own poisons/potions/etc as a thing, with costs to buy them, or foraging them in the wild in certain biomes with different survival DCs, and, obviously, some rarer reagents being rewards for quests? Some 5e DM's Guild material has that instead of just "Pay GP to get god-tier items"

>>
>>52051527
I was planning on going str-based either way because I decided to be an oni tiefling before doing a monk. Now if I do dragon style and dragon ferocity, i'll have an extra feat floating around since I won't be taking the third feat in the chain, I was thinking I could take elemental fist with that for some thematically appropriate fire-punching

Troubadour and Sage are being moved over there, and right now aside from those two, we haven't done a ton of work on the gish book, since we want to make sure the core content is solid first before moving forward. So as far as the gish book goes, those two classes and my poison sphere are the only things we've done on it at the moment. Once my body's 100% again, I'm going to get into doing some archetypes though, although I want to read over SoP again to really decide what I want to do with the sections of the Gish book which are mine to write.

>>52051565
Right now poisons from my spheres are pretty versatile, can do any type of ability damage, can be used for generic debuffs, and there's even a few buff poisons for fun in there.
>>
>>52051508
I just now read the errata and that is absolutely awful, jabbing style just got waste-basketed, it's dragon style for sure now
>>
>>52051585
That'd be cool, but you might want to consider something like Horn of the Criosphinx to boost your initial attack even higher, or perhaps the Pummeling Style chain if you're going for Master of Many Styles.

If you want to intimidate, add Cornugon Smash and/or Intimidating Prowess. I'd say Hurtful as well, but monks already can spend ki to get extra attacks, so you don't want to waste your Swift on something like that.
>>
>>52051578
Then Wisdom checks for common sense is the way to go. It leads them in the direction without seeming too condescending.
>>
>>52051594
>reading over SoP again to really decide what I want to do with sections of the Gish book

>>52051619
I don't know, it depends on how you present it. Don't call it "common sense", for one. Maybe just "you feel something bugging you, make a Wisdom check to harness your intuition" or something.

I've had a GM in the past who basically forced a "common sense" roll every time they wanted to keep us on the rails, and they basically used it as a way to passive-aggressively call us all idiots for not reading their mind.

Okay, review anon here. Same one who did the extensive marry/fuck/kill and the fuckability index, now with something slightly more in-depth since people asked.

Going to start Dragongame 2 PCs, reviewed on the following 5 metrics:
>Appeal: In abstract, a combination of how likeable their personalities are and how good posted art/physical descriptions are.
>Backstory: How interesting and applicable their backstory is. Also a check for writing quality in general.
>Compatibility: How much I think their backstories, personalities and powersets make them suited to party play. i.e.: would they be fun to play with?
>Dragonality: How setting-appropriate they are, how draconic/suited to dragons they are.

First request gets a review, after that I'm rolling.

Thuvia and Osirus are chocked full of ruins, they're ravaged ancient osiriani wars, some of which are full of the servitors of the black pharoah or contain evidence of ancient aliens. Pathfinders, historians, crazed cultists and members of the Aspis Consortium all fight for control of the relics found within.

There's the occasional raid from ooga booga men from the mwangi expanse and the armies of divs that scour the deserts like blazing winds, in theory there's some interaction with good or neutral djinn/elementals or the vast majority of good Mwangi that might be displaced by the demon worshipping negroes.

Without copying the entire premise to you...

Military themed campaign. The Dukedom of Astony has risen up in rebellion, declaring itself a free city-state! For one reason or another, the players joined up and got shuffled into the 'irregulars'. Big 'war is hell' theme --technology and magic have advanced a great deal since the last bout of war, so no one is really sure just how awful it's going to end up being.

Most land in the world is uninhabitable and almost untraversable from long lasting and horrendously dangerous historical wars, so arable land is at a premium. Rapidly advancing technology(airships in particular for transportation) have made things like war feasible again, but the various sides have very different takes on military technology and how the war should play out.

Or something like that.

But that wasn't at all what was being complained about in the post you quoted the first time? The post you quoted was hoping that maybe, just maybe, a Spheres Magus will finally have a reason to be played 1-20.

And, even regarding "this meme", the typical complaint about shocking grasp isn't really "this is all the magus does", it's more pointing at "this is the height of your build because everything else is situational, and that's boring as fuck"

It's pretty much exactly what I complained about.

And situational issues are the point of the magus, as well as any other caster outside of clerics and druids, who really do only have a single build to work off of.

Except that's fucking backwards, anon, you don't bother with magus past 2 levels in spheres, because you don't NEED anything past the first two levels because it's fucking worthless to you compared to what other classes could provide. On the flipside, Vancian Magus, outside of niche builds, NEEDS to be 1-20 and has plenty of tricks, but his bread and butter still defaults to "do the arcane mark trick for an extra attack, or do electricity damage and pray for a crit".
>>
>>52051452
Some anon was talking about onslaught kineticists being the damage dealers, but I can't seem to figure out how. Doesn't seem to be any harder hitting than the regular once metakinesis comes into play. Do they have some special alternative build model we're supposed to capitalize on that I can't see?
>>
>tfw want to make thrown weapon barbarian

AAAAHHH, what do I do? Do I cave and be a fighter, just take VMC barbarian for the sweet rage.

My character just died in Jade Regent. The DM suggested I come back as a ninja, and that the party needs ranged support. I have no real inspiration or drive for a new character, so I might as well ask for help. Any way to make a decent ranged damage dealing ninja? I'm allowed to use unchained ninja 3PP as well.

An Eldritch Archer Magus could work as a better ninja then.

RORY KARSKYS CARIHEM

>born to a clan of Ulfen sailors
>ominous appearance, personality runs against the grain of their culture
>manifests dangerous shapeshifting in his early teens
>branded and forced into exile
>experiences long period of solitude and uncontrollable shapeshifting
>eventually signs on with the crew of transport and finds purpose, develops his skills and self-confidence
>after a year of working with them settles on going to the Demesne in the hopes of finding a place where he'll be accepted

I like the character but his stat array and backstory combine awkwardly. He doesn't have Acrobatics or Profession (Sailor), or Survival, despite being alone in the wilderness and the edge of cities for a long while. There's the question of how he went from a bright and curious child who was going to be put to work as the temple clerk, to a barely-literate but incredibly perceptive wildman. Isolation does mess with your brain, but the period wasn't /that/ long.

There some other spelling errors like ken/kin, but it's otherwise passable for a typical PC.

Hilariously, there's no actual personality posted so shitposting meme doggo is all I have to go by.

So as is:
>Appeal: 3/5, his player's shitposting as a cuddlebug is a little infectious and the art is decent.
>Backstory: 2/5, northern villager is a werewolf, becomes a wildman, becomes a sailor. No other personalities present except for his unnamed captain.
>Compatibility: 4/5, Rory won't steal the thunder from other PCs but doesn't bring a lot to the table except for martial power. I expect him to be pretty fun, at least.
>Dragonality 1/5, dude is neither into dragons nor a dragon himself. Backstory has very little anchoring him to the setting.

The weapon proficiencies ninja gets help for all the weird shit you get in Jade Regent, but it's not absolutely necessary. The thing that gets me about Rory is that his player is trying SO HARD to be everyone's best friend and literally changing his character around to be whatever anyone wants at any given time. You want a hunky bara? You've got one. You want a cute doggo to play with the kids? That's Rory. You want a waifu? Well, sure, he can do that too.

It's... well, mostly I kinda feel sorry for the player, if he feels he has to make a character that's literally everything in order to be accepted.

Personality wise, I'm aiming for a neutral-kind of guy. Believes in balancing things out, self-control, and discipline, but his nature (being a skinwalker/shifter) means he's got a lot of impulses that he doesn't have control over. His primary reason for going to the Demesne? It's isolated. There are plenty of tales about shapeshifters in various parts of the world, not all of them positive, and the horrible things they do. He's heard a lot of them traveling, and

AISHA ENKIDU

>ordinary human girl from a mountain village protected by a cool old gold dragon
>surprise, she's the reincarnation of a long line of heroes
>also surprise, one of Culdranth's kids finds her
>has multi-incarnation beef with Enkidu, the adventurer she was
>goes very badly, but they escape
>go to the Demesne to find out more and help her gold dragon mentor
>find out that she reincarnates as she does because of a MacGuffin thing and she needs to find more so her bff can be healed
>so the adventure begins!

I like Aisha. I think a synthesist who fuses with their past incarnations is a fucking cool idea, and her backstory is pleasingly classic. Farmgirl ingenue, the reincarnation of the chosen hero, trained by a wise old dragon. She's a good person, motivated by the repayment of a debt to someone who's watched over her for longer than her whole life.

Her character is charmingly naive, direct and a bit brash. All in all it's a package that really suggests someone very likeable unless you're stuffy, humorless or just find dumb kids annoying.

Synthesist is cheese but this a known value. At the bottom of each review I will also list the number of times the most common trait in /pfg/ games appears. Was she bullied? Doesn't say so.

But whatever.

>Appeal 4/5, Aisha is cute. CUTE.
>Backstory 3/5, it's hard to argue with classics and this one was represented well enough. She provides the GM with a few backstory elements to play with, but the MacGuffin quest is a concern. Nice and short too.
>Compatibility 3/5, Aisha is tough, a decent fighter, a skill monkey, a face and she has access to a magic as a summoner. Strong, but she could easily steal the spotlight.
>Dragonality 3/5, not a dragon or related to one but her entire current motivation is for the sake of friendship and duty to a dragon.

>radiate incredible heat and power
>everybody ready to throw you out with the bathwater
>queen decides to keep you, gives you a new form
>enjoy difficult childhood but manage just fine
>queen wakes up again and has a use for you

Being Errakus is suffering. While your sisters and brothers are getting it on with mortals and your relatives are enjoying the sunny luxury of the demesne, you're a limbless ball of crystal that can't do much of anything. Nothing can hurt you, at least.

He gives a bit of a Seath vibe, born weak and infirm compared to his cohorts and finding purpose through magic and crystal, although I expect his proper party role to be more akin to Na'vi. His personality sounds like what you'd expect for someone with his upbringing, but it could be annoying if done by a bad player.

Errakus is the saddest character. The SADDEST!

My only gripe about his build is investing in social skills when he's clearly some sort of flying fae orb thing. Golarion natives are not going to respond the way you want them to unless you can shapeshift into other forms or happen to be very convincing. But coupled with a standard face character he could make for a very good tag team.

>Appeal 2/5, not very appealing in terms of personality or appearance. Very sad. Pitiable, at least.
>Backstory 3/5, simple and lacking ambitions beyond serving his queen.
>Compatibility 5/5, being unable to do anything by himself, Errakus is a pretty perfect support caster with a side of blasting, if I've read the page right. His social skills could be better spent elsewhere, but he'd at least be a great tag-team with a dedicated and good-looking main face.
>Dragonality 4/5, literally a dragon. Loses points for being a special (read: fucked) kind of dragon who doesn't spend most of his time as one.

>>

I dunno actually. Some anons have sperged before about "picking players and not characters", but usually they're easy to write off because it's not practical to go over 30~ people personally.

Doing these reviews means he can see who's invested and jives well him and shit. DMs are inclined to pick the players they think they'll have the best time with and all, not necessarily the ones who'll make the best story or maybe have the best game.

Absolutely. A lot of characters in any given game don't take 5 minutes to go through, even as far as price checking their gear if you're familiar with enough. Complicated ones could take some combing but you're still doing it at your leisure.

Traditional interview apps need you to contact them and have a sitdown, that's bound to eat up more time.

FORTE NABELINDA

>one of Culdranth's bangs an Aldori Swordlord
>Forte is the result
>grows up inspired by the stories her mother told about her cool-ass dad
>train hard to become the best duelist she can and join the Demesne Guard
>wind up as a glorified security guard, quickly experience increasingly boring and horrible missions
>decide this sucks, and it's time to go explore

Enamored by the stories of her father (who her mother barely even remembers) and raised to be a master swordswoman, Forte has a lot of potential.

She's aesthetically a pretty standard cute dragon girl, and functionally a well-put together martial who will operate well within her specialization of hitting things and being sneaky. She's passionate and energetic, concerned with justice and martial honor, which means she has both potential conflicts with sneakier or less savory characters. I could easily see her being a good moral core to a group, and a bit of a rock during difficult challenges.

Despite being a strong fighter, she was bullied for some reason?

>Appeal 4/5, cute art, high energy and her concern for honor and martial challenges (rather than just liking combat).
>Backstory 3/5, simple, gives reasons for her adventuring. Might be better if it included some personalities beyond her mother and father, like who taught her to do weaboo fightan magic.
>Compatibility 4/5, a martial who can sneak and move around. Honorable and reliable. Just wants to see the world. She has her role well-defined and won't get in the way of other people.
>Dragonality 4/5, dragonblooded and related to dragons directly.

RINKA, THE GUNSMOKE WITCH AKA RINKA THE... (LIKE A SHITTON OF CHUUNI TITLES OR SOMETHING)

>be a ratfolk from Druma
>clan made and sold alchemical ingredients
>have an interest in magic
>sneak into wizard's house, peek at his books and sometimes steal baubles and stuff so you can experiment with magic
>wizard finds her, goes to fuck up the ratfolk shantytown and burn everything if they don't get payback
>heroically lead them off with pistol fire and run away, escaping
>become mercenary traveling from town to town, gain fame (and infamy) in the process of eventually getting revenge on the wizard who forced her from home
>go to Demesne in the hopes of acquiring power and allies

Rinka is shockingly cute, being a ratfolk. Her backstory gives this feeling of the kind of curiosity and intellect that if nurtured, would have definitely produced an excellent wizard regardless of her race. But where this one is a fugitive, mercenary and seeker of power... I really did wonder if a human one would have just been taken in by Artorius and made his apprentice. That she pretends to be a human most of the time suggests she's thought about this herself.

My main annoyance is that the backstory paragraph is basically one huge wall of text. Breaking it into more bite-sized paragraphs each containing a movement or beat in her personal story would work way better.

Her description oozes character, of course, and she's eccentric enough to make the whole thing work. I like that she's a bit of a coward and forces herself through things, and also an appearances-concious showoff. A real one-of-a-kind ratfolk.

>Appeal 5/5, genuinely unique and fun.
>Backstory 3/5, lose points for formatting and focusing overfocusing on rival.
>Compatibility 3/5, clearly almost entirely a blaster. Personality doesn't suggest team player. Brings some knowledges and other skills to the table.
>Dragonality 1/5, basically the least dragon-related PC.

I don't think most DMs care too much about length as long as it's functional. The Raunchy wrap-up recently included two of the largest profiles and one of the sparsest, so it's kind of a crap shoot there.

It feels mean to pick on the newest submission, but I suppose I'll just pick at the scab since it's a resub.

This dude... just doesn't have a lot going on. He's a pretty normal fallen prince-type story, but a dragon, except that instead of having an inspirational journey where he meets friends and faces challenges, he just turned to science and decided he'd become a dragon-shaped thermonuclear reaction. I guess that's for the other PCs to do, providing him with personal challenges and relationships to grow as a person (grow as a dragon?). His personality isn't terrific, and mostly self-focused and self-driven. Others don't seem to factor into his calculus at all.

>Appeal 1/5, he's arrogant but concerned with self-improvement. Big mom issues. The art is pretty, though.
>Backstory 2/5, functional but no meat.
>Compatibility 2/5, concerned about Atomic Adept. Not a lot of synergetic abilities beyond being a potion master.

I should probably have described'em better somewhere but I'd reasoned out my traits, though I'm not the avowed/synth there.

>Storm Pilot: While he knows nothing about boats save what he's seen in pictures, he knows PLENTY about dealing with heavy winds both offensively and defensively. Being around adult dragons made learning this lesson as painful as it is natural.

>Indomitable Faith: While it might be the insecure, sorta-delusional kind, he has it. In himself, and in dragons being superior in general.

>Second Chance: Anything with the ability to twist probabilities or timelines even a smidgen will have at least a little in reserve at the worst of times, for a more instinctive protection.

The drawback's related to attitude as well; being as quick as he is to boast makes him feel like utter scum when an ally falls and he can't even keep them safe.

>>52055050
i think i treated them like that with Rinka at least. Or i like to think I did

>everybody hates Yoichi now
>Yoichi decides to fuck off and go live with dragon grandma instead of eating shit from his judgmental siblings
>someday, they'll all understand!

The backstory is functional and justifies why the dude is here, but there's not much else to it. Dude is in the Demesne because his life at home is over and he wants to redeem himself in their eyes (or maybe get so strong it no longer matters).

Lots of runaways in the subs so far. Hmm.

I wonder.

Anyway there's no sheet and his personality is barebones. He's the first person I can finally, finally call generically 'good', in that he's sensitive and soft-spoken. He's quite serious about his work, probably because the one time he did it literally ruined his life. He's lawful and good, but I don't quite see the two joining in his morality.

>Appeal 3/5, dude is a strong yet silent Minkan dude with samurai honor and a harsh upbringing.
>Backstory 3/5, I'm rating this harsher than I should because 'I fucked up and now I'm going to the dragon kingdom' is a recurring trend among apps so far that is starting to exhaust its excitement for me. He's actually connected to the setting by way of blood so there's some meat.
>Compatibility ?/5, unknown since there's no sheet but his personality and goals don't strongly contradict any group's. He wants to get respect.

>Appeal 1/5, he's arrogant but concerned with self-improvement. Big mom issues. The art is pretty, though.
I'm super open to suggestions for improvement, this is the area I'm admittedly weakest. The idea was to find a way to justify dragon + nuclear power. Umbral Dragon/Sadistic Draconic Essence was because of the shared damage type, so it made sense to me as a base, but I didn't want to be evil so stuck to Chaotic Neutral, which I find difficult sometimes to make as a character someone who will actually work with others well. Really tried to at least avoid LOLSORANDUMB Neutral.
>Backstory 2/5, functional but no meat.
Not really wrong, but glad it's not considered a shitshow at least. I'm not sure which parts of the backstory could use more beefing up, or if I need some plain extra parts detailing... something.
>Compatibility 2/5, concerned about Atomic Adept. Not a lot of synergetic abilities beyond being a potion master.
His main role is actually as a blaster through Atomic Adept. I'm not sure what concerns you about it, any radiation shit I put out I can clean off the rest of the party. Beyond that I have the typical Alchemist utility as well as skill monkey powers from inspiration. Honestly Atomic Adept was what made me want to make a character for the game in the first place, so I looked for a second class that got poison immunity so I wouldn't irradiate myself to death, and Druid didn't feel like it fit.
>>Dragonality 5/5, the motherfucking dragonnest PC. No human form, direct descent from Culdranth. Supposed to be a dragon kiwsatz haderach.
Fuck yeah! Frankly the most important score to me, not being dragon-y in a goddamn dragons game is fucking stupid.

So I am the Shoanti guy from the last thread chasing after his clan's ancestral headdress.

I plan on applying to Curse of the Lazy Throne and am trying to figure out what Shoanti racial trait I am going to grab.

I am caught between:
>Auspicious Tattoo
+1 to will saves
>Bred for War
Minimum 6ft tall, +1 to CMB, +1 to Intimidate
>Shoanti Steed
Start with a special combat trained Light Horse

Right now I am leaning away from Steed because Light Horses, and mundane mounts in general, die at the drop of a hat. I would more likely just buy a combat trained horse rather than spend a trait on one.

That's a very good point, while in the city the horse is not going be the best asset. I'll take that into consideration.

>>
>>52055352
>character is a shoanti warrior

Can you not fucking read or are you just a retard?
>>
>>52055341
If you need a horse, you'll be able to afford one without burning a trait on it at 3. If you want to start with one for flavour, buy it, name it, stable it, get it trained later. As traits go it's pretty weak in every way.

Auspicious Tattoo is probably stronger than Bred for War given that it's a will save and you're using throwing weapons, unlikely to be in close combat most of the time. They're both pretty good for flavour, not just giving you a physical appearance but also defining it well. I'd probably still go with Auspicious Tattoo, even ignoring the min-maxing. You won't get a lot of opportunities to describe exactly how your character's muscles bulge, but describing how your tattoo looks and what it means just on an introduction builds character, and you could get even more mileage out of it if you roleplay nicely.
>>
>>52055393
Do all characters equally qualify for all their racial traits?
>>
>>52055412
>you're using throwing weapons, unlikely to be in close combat most of the time

what.

the only advantage of throwing weapons is that majority of them double as a melee weapon when an enemy gets close enough (which is often, since max throwing range is only 50 ft with available feats)
>>
What are some bits of headcanon you have regarding magic, /pfg/?

Here's some of mine:
>Trying to cast spells above the levels your body is capable of, such as through a scroll, causes a high that can be damaging or even fatal if you manage to "overdose", such as by using a scroll of time stop at level 5.

Shoanti are a tiny group of tribes from a single section of one country. Likely yes, if you're from the tribes their traits likely apply to you.
>>
>>52055429
Oh sorry, I thought you were the guy who was building for the 900ft javelins. Disregard me then.
>>
>>52055420
If they're a Shoanti? Yeah, pretty much, Paizo's pretty fucking terrible at differentiating between any two Shoanti clansmen.
>>
>>52055444
No I am that guy, >>52055429 is a different guy. I can do the Ace Trip and Ace Disarm feats however I believe.
>>
>>52055440
For me, my idea is that "every person reads, hears, and feels magic differently from someone else". Even if two people hear the same sorcerer cast the same Fireball spell at the same time, one might here it in Infernal and hear the crackling of burning wood, whereas the other might feel the warmth on her skin as Draconic is ringing in their ears.
>>
>>52055446
I mean Shoanti are a really tiny racial minority even in Avistan. There are not exactly enough of them to have a diverse culture.

BREJIK

>be a goatherd in the Demesne
>dad took you to his hometown to show off that he got with a dragon
>isn't growing older, teased a lot for being so small at his age
>get into a lot of fights
>spend a lot of time recovering from wounds because tackling people is pretty dangerous
>decided to answer Dragon Queen's summons to get the respect of his peers

First, congratulations on being the only Reactionary to be bullied.

Your character doesn't actually have a ton to go on. While the backstory does provide the root of his complexes and the source of his negative emotions, there's a lot missing. Where did he learn psychic stuff? Did he have any friends at all? There was a journey between him being the bullied dragonspawn child who couldn't come into his own as one of Culdranth's agents that seems to be absent here. He's level 3, which is well at the point of being able to do things.

You erroneously refer to him as a Tiefling when he's been refluffed as a dragonblooded.

There's no personality listed except for what I can extract from his history and appearance, so I'd like to see something for that. Slouching and getting into fights speaks to insecurity that could be quite characterful. Obviously, since we have a lot of emotionally unstable characters making another super insecure dude might not be ideal, but do what you want.

I'm also curious as to why he's bullied over growing slowly, if the Demesne presumably has a lot of dragonblooded who age/mature at the same rate.

>Appeal 2/5, insecure and quirky. His main personality trait is being insecure and not liking how smol he is.
>Backstory 2/5, barebones and feels like it's missing beats.
>Compatibility 3/5, another martial with the bonus of being mobile and not needing a weapon. Personality could produce conflicts.
>Dragonality 4/5, a dragonblooded who looks dragonny.

REACTIONARIES SO FAR: 4 (up from 3)

Kabouite? Granted, the sheet isn't done, but you get the idea; tanky bastard grapplemonster.
>>
>>52055595
More or less, yeah.

My question is basically how did he git gud at the things he's good at?

Martials are easy to explain but he also has a psychic class to justify.

Most of the time I don't get much advice and end up just building it anyway. Most of the time the act of typing it out and making a post helps me make my decision. I used to do this by talking about builds with a room mate before I began living alone.
