What do monsters, beastfolk, or non-human humanoids look like during infancy or childhood? My players are going to be going through a few settlements over the course of the campaign and I'd like some reference art when it comes to describing non-combatants.

Like smaller, probably somewhat cuter, versions of adults.

If you're running an "irredeemable dindus" type of fantasy it can be a good moment to bring out racial customs.
The players see some orc kids playing, and after a while it gets rough. One of the kids get the upper hand on the other and start bashing its face in with a rock. A while later a father- or leader figure in the tribe congratulates the survivor kid for being a badass, offing the other brat, and brandishing the victim as a loser that would've hurt the tribe.

If they were a sapient race and I was playing a good aligned character? Probably not.
Any other scenario in a usual D&D game? Dead goblin.

Doing it is necessary but is still killing sentient beings resembling humanoids. ENJOYING it is like a soldier enjoying killing Isis members or a veterinarian who enjoys putting down animals.

Don't make conversation with the Paladins, it just riles them up and gets them throwing their own shit again,
I have never seen an elf child in my life, so they might be a myth like dwarf women. I'm pretty sure a new elf is made by putting magic into a bundle of sticks.

If I don't, who will?

Aren't eragon elve kids godlike superhuman things?

No. They're just not common at all since a birth only happens in a community like once a decade.
