And to be honest, I don't find them very remarkable once they're in armour. The only thing that distinguishes them from any other armoured figure, regardless of race or setting, is the dildo-helmets.

In fairness, elves vary a lot more from setting to setting, or even within the individual settings, than dwarves. Pretty much the only thing they have in common is pointy ears and being fit.

We probably don't need to talk about anime-anything in general and how it looks. Anime elves are the worst offenders at being humans with pointy ears. While western elves can have this problem, at least they try to differentiate an elf face from a human face at times. You might not always like how it always turns out, but it adds a lot to their variety and helps to distinguish them from humans. Furthermore anime elves are most of the time the blandest and dullest copy of Tolkien elves. They barely add anything new when it comes to the lore of elfendom, don't have unique cultures, interesting history etc. Bring anime elf into any kind of discussion about elves and they will add nothing of worth for the discussion. Also there is the issue that 90% of anime elf art is cute and they are girls. While there is nothing wrong with this in itself, it's just boring compared to western art. Western art manages to draw elves that can be badass, creepy, mysterious, beautiful, cool. But japanese elves are never cool. I'm not excited to play a japenese elf, I'm not excited to hear that someone will play a japanese elf, I'm not excited to hear that the heroes in that manga will meet the elves soon, because I can already see them being an all-female race of cute girls whose purpose is to be cute girls.

This is of course personal experience and also very subjective. Anime elf-posters strike me as anons that care the least about traditional games. Not about the act of playing, not about the lore of the settings you play around here. Nothing tells me more "I don't actually know anything about elves" than somebody posting some brown skinned slut with pointy ears that may even be a demon or some other mythical creature Anime-elf posters seem to have at most a superficial interest in actual fantasy and get most of their knowledge about elves from porn. The big problem with anime-elves is how closely they are tied to porn and anime-elf posters seem to carry /e/ and /h/ into /tg/, which most of the time also doesn't add anything of worth to any discussion. Anime-elf posters are guarnateed to think of elves as nothing but something to masturbate to. They will not be able to talk about lore, about their heroes often male, but they don't care about these, about their history etc. But they do know that elves are lewd and sluts and have big tits because of porn, though these things are debatable when you look at elves in serious and established settings. I'm not interested to talk with these kinds of people here on /tg/ about elves, they won't make a worthwhile discussion, they won't tell me anything interesting about elves.

The already mentioned issues of anime-elves being mostly cute girls and them being tied closely to pornography helps spreading and maintaining the "elves are lewd" and "elves always get raped"-memes. You may honor these as old /tg/-traditions, but to me they can spiral out of control and are just ammonition for elf-haters, which aren't contained in /tg/ anymore. You may say that these are just funny memes and I shouldn't take this seriously, but it isn't for me to get a thread about video game elves on /v/ flooded with them, or a thread on /a/ gets turned into a porn share thread, until the pelinal posters arrive and shit it up even more. Anime-elves aren't helping that.

Some more about the porn thing. Anons posting with dicks in ther hands make for worse threads. If you want to masturbate to elves, go to /e/ or /h/ and get over it. I'm able to do that and then come here to talk shit about Feanor who did nothing wrong Some anons aren't, and that makes for worse discussion, less creativity, less actual citing sources, less brain cells being active. And there is a high chance that it will be because of animu-elves. Then there are of course the smut-posters, an issue that should already be resolved. Let me say that as someone with a huge interest in elves, any thread of these kinds of "I want to fuck an elf" are really, really boring. These one-dimensional waifus are a disgrace to what elves should be. But this isn't really about anime-elves anymore.

Anime elves are D&D elves.

Elves tend towards being chaotic by D&D standards. Not the lawful bent of Tolkien's elves. They're on average shorter than humans with larger almond shaped eyes.
