Is there any setting that isn't improved by Kamen Riders?
>>
>>51975367
The concept?
I admit every setting will become more fun with masked riders and their transformations but historical settings DMs will be pissed off.

Masked riders in sword and sorcery will simply He-Man

Sword and sorcery are perfect for Masked RIders. I mean, magic, suits of armor, brave knights, shit is practically made for Riders
>>
>>51975367
Since I started watching Kamen Rider, I've wanted to run a campaign similar to the crossover movies they do, with each player being the Primary Rider of their own personal Kamen Rider Generation. I was thinking of trying to cobble together something using FATE, as that is a game which emphasizes developing character backstory as part of Character Creation (at least as far as I can tell, I haven't actually had the opportunity to play in a FATE campaign yet).
>>
I don't know much about Kamen Rider, but I would adore a Kamen Rider equivalent in MtG lore.

>>51976324
This seems to be from a movie featuring Kamen Rider Ghost. The guy who came in to clean house is from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid. Yeah, the themes there are pretty dang silly but apparently that scene's played straight.

>>51976368
Kamen Rider Tridoron, who is the upgrade of Kamen Rider Drive. Tridoron's the name of Drive's car, so I guess he's shooting his upgrade/car at his enemy there. Tridoron's usually a little bit cooler/edgier but that particular scene is nicely outrageous.

>>51976388
Kamen Rider Kabuto. He has the power to enter into a state of bullet time. I think that scene represents the last of their special effects budget. The super speed/slo-mo world gimmick is conspicuously toned back in the second half of the series. Personally, I think some of the slo-mo scenes from earlier episodes are even better than the rain scene.

Didn't the Emperor mode suit for Kiva weigh so damn much that it injured the suit actor or something?

And yes, Wizard's designs were absolutely amazing. Too bad everything else about that year was garbage. Thankfully Gaim more than made up for it.

>D&D
Will go down in any D&D setting's history as some living personification of the concept of freedom and justice for all. Legends telling of a masked fighter who out-punches monks and whose kicks can slay fiends in a instant.

>Iron Kingdoms
Same as above. Will Rider-Kick every asshole that needs a healthy dose of justice. Will however focus more on the Cryx and kicking/punching their Deathjacks, as well as the Legions of Everblight and Skorne.

The not!Faiz would also have his own Warjack that turns into a wheeled machine to ride on.

>Warhammer 40000
Will be seen by Imperials as some one-man Space Marine company that appears out of nowhere like Doomrider/Sanguinor/Legion of The Damned on a bike that looks like a souped-up Astartes Warbike. Will Rider-Kick Bloodthirsters so hard they'll have gaping holes in their chests and before anyone will ask him anything he disappears faster than he appeared. Needless to say, the Inquisition and AdMech would have some kind of obsession over him.

>Warhammer Fantasy
Rides on a really big warhorse, this warrior in an armor so form-fitting and which completely covers every inch of his body, and punches Chaos Warriors so hard even Chaos Armor is useless. Some say he's a spirit of justice made flesh, others that he's a mortal that became said concept and who is the most dreadful enemy of all that is Chaos and Disorder. Probably chills with the Green Knight when neither of them is dispensing justice.
>>
>>51979620

>>
>>51977278
First one- Kamen Rider Ghost, near the endgame. The guy with the bike is Genm, from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid.

Second one- Kamen Rider Drive Type Tridoron. He fuses with his car. Yes.

Kamen Rider Kabuto. It's got some neat scenes early on, as the other anon said, but it... Goes quite odd towards the end as the actors start having more fun.
>>
>>51979344
Femme, Mage, Marika, Nadeshiko, Larc, Jam and Idunn, and that's not counting Hibiki and Ghost.

I will concede that there's been only one female Rider that's transformed more than once in the show's TV run, and even then she was dead by the finale.

>>
>>51979317
Other way around, regular Kiva was stupid weighty and also horribly unbalanced, with the right leg from the knee down saddled with a chain-wrapped greave that looked really cool and had a fun power release gimmick for the Rider Kick but was torture to wear. It's why Kiva got final form so early and spammed it so much.

Other fun suit stories are Kamen Rider Meteor, a jeet kune do martial artist who had a completely stiff right pauldron that heavily limited motion and the actor couldn't lift his arm past shoulder level or so, or Kamen Rider Gaim's Kachidoki, which was a suit modeled after samurai armor and so weighty that most of its scenes involve the actor not moving at all and just rotating in place shooting a gun.

It's true, some of the new ones are very gaudy and overdesigned, and a lot of the Showa Riders have some very good designs, but I feel the majority of Heisei Riders have better designs. At least they have more aesthetic designs. Gaim is full of gorgeous suit designs.
>>
>>51991627
That's also a valid point of view but I do appreciate a clean simple look more than what most of the Heisei tend to go for. It's prolly total bias; Stonger's mah boi ya see?

I totally see, my man. Kuuga is my person favorite, and he's one of the simplest designs out of all Heisei. I just know a lot of Heisei Riders have gorgeous suit designs.
>>
>>51991817
Without getting to complicated, any system can Rider. You just need combat, and some way to equip armor, preferably some skill, magic, or accessory that can be utilized for instant equipping as well. If you have just those two aspects, you can include Rider into anything. Hell, you can even just equip armor like normal, after all G3 had to suit up by hand each time.

So, /tg/ what is your favorite KR series and why?
>>
>>51995520
Kuuga. It had a lovable cast of down to earth people, Godai was always a delight with how upbeat and positive he was and how he actively tried to improve himself when needed, and I liked the take on Kuuga as he got stronger he actually became dangerous to the city and had to change his tactics. Plus the police being competent and working alongside Godai to fight the Grongi, and eventually gaining the ability to kill Grongi with their own weapons, was a wonderful change of pace from the usual. Not to mention the fact that his final form is only seen for like two episodes, and he doesn't even do anything crazy with it, just has a fist fight with the final boss, no other KR has replicated how fucking cool that is, hell a lot of aspects of Kuuga have never been successfully replicated.
>>
>>51995520
I've never seen kuuga, despite most of the thread seeming to love it, i should get on that
I honestly can't decide between Gaim, W, or OOO. I'd say OOO wins purely because I like all the villain and suit designs, while the other two have toss-ups on good or bad.
All of them just have great serious tones that make me like the characters, and the suits have meaning beyond just powerups.
>>
>>51995520
>>51995734
I know my least favorite for sure is kiva despite the suit, followed by 555, though. Something about them just rub me the wrong way, hard. I had to force myself to finish kiva and barely remember it, and couldn't finish 555 at all.

Den-O and fourze land fully in Fun tier, though.
>>
>>51995520
OOOs, I know there're better KR out there but OOOs was my first and really hit hard me at the time (I had a friend who behaved pretty much like Ankh who passed away a couple of years before watching it).

Ghost things wrong. It's from one of the last episodes of ghost where they decided to show case some of the stuff from ex-aid. It's not from a movie.

Ryuuki. There were a lot of slow bits, but the idea of it being Battle Royale was great.

Overall, I think W was the best all-around series, but Gaim was a really close contender.

>Plus the police being competent and working alongside Godai to fight the Grongi, and eventually gaining the ability to kill Grongi with their own weapons, was a wonderful change of pace from the usual.

Oh god yes. Like, the part where episode 2 where Godai literally just tells the policeman he is Kuuga and asking if there's anything he can help with instead of dancing around the issue for half a series was such a fucking refreshing change of pace of everything that was to come it was great.

I did really like Agito and how it showed the Police actually coming up with their own technology that does the job with G-3 as well. Plus, I don't dislike the main guy from Agito either, although I feel the plot began to lose track of it's many threads and doesn't really begin to tidy that shit up until Another Agito makes an appearance.

That said, Agito had the better tunes than Kuuga. Although if we're considering just that side of things there's a suprising number of appearances in top tens by stuff that normally wouldn't get a look in.

Like IXA's theme from Kiva for instance.

Wizard honestly has a great design, and looks even better in action, it really meshes perfectly with the gimmick and theme of the season. It's a shame about that writing though

Great suit and effects wasted on a bad story. Same with Faiz.
>>
>>52001464

Faiz really forgot what it was doing somewhere around the time the Delta Suit got introduced. Hell the ending even has people sitting around wondering what the fuck that was all about then.

That said, that's also around the point we get a triple-rider kick on the guy who was probably SUPPOSED to be the final boss before the rewrite that clearly must have happened, which is fairly awesome.

Jesus Christ Japan. What demographic was this targeted at?

Random
Gurongi had a killing game, half the episode was guessing who was going to be the next victim because the killings seemed random on each episode, then they find the link, then discover how the monster does it, then go and kill it.

Older kids and teens. It was actually a revival of the dead Kamen Rider franchise, so the fact that it succeeded in reigniting the franchise shows how good it was.

The main issue with Wizard's writing was that they kept wanting to make Haruto (the protagonist) fairly plain and/or aloof, to the point where the whole Kamen Rider thing was a hassle to him, but that just made him look ridiculously arrogant. It didn't help that the female lead was canonically devoid of emotions and memories at the start of the series, so most of the time you had two plain characters in any given scene. The doubly annoying thing about it is that sometimes they wrote Haruto to be incredibly sassy instead, and when they did it all clicked together, like he was meant to be written that way in the 1st place but got meddled with.

the Marvel Universe RPG had a system involved in character creation using backstory to give you bonuses if you do something similar to what happened in a particular scene in your past.

system was called "Flashback panels." you get one per story, more if it's an arch or not. I still recall our leader being being the president and his vice pres was a Capuchin Monkey with explosive poop powers.

>>
>>52011271
for sentai? Gokaiger is good, though it is an anniversary season, but if anything that means it'll just give you a taste of other seasons which may peak your interest. If you wanna go old school Jetman is pretty damn good.
For rider though, can't go wrong with Kuuga, Double, or Fourze in my opinion
>>
>>52011553
>>52011271
This, Gokaiger is a good start because is basically a season that rememorates other seasons while having a pretty good plot. Basically older sentai join to defeat super army and lose their powers in the proccess, then the new protags, space pirates, go on a quest to find these powers. Lots of cameos and explanation of other sentai shows.

Another is Akibarange, this isn't official though, is a meta as fuck show about sentai in where a fan of sentai ends joining a sentai group. Again, cameos and a lot of explanation of older sentai.

I started with Shinkenger though (Sentai about Samurai).
>>
>>52007624
Each Kamen Rider Show, like Super Sentai, have motiffs, in that case (Ex-Aids) is Doctors fighting against Digital Virus and they use Videogames to defeat them, so the visuals are basically 16 bits consoles and games.
>>
>>52011595
I can support the Akibaranger recommendation. Its sort of a parody, but one by the actual people. I actually started there due to misunderstanding a recommendation before going to Gokaiger after I finished. I got my feet wet on a bunch of different season's themes and a good grounding in the tropes of the franchise.
>>
>>52011613
>visuals are basically 16 bits consoles and games.

To be fair, the later forms are more based on more recent games, DragoKnight Hunter Z is pretty much Monster Hunter, for example.
>>
>>52011553
>>52011595
>>52011646
Thanks guys! I'll start with some of those and see where I end up eventually.
