So, it seems like a pauper scene is coming into existence at my lgs, and since it's a non-rotating format, worst case scenario is I make a deck, everyone loses interest, and I just have a perfectly valid deck for whatever future point pauper might rear its head again.

I have a gimicky, colorless EDH deck. I have a gimicky, colorless modern deck. Aside from step one being urzatron + expedition maps, what are some gimicky, colorless cards you guys would suggest?

Reporting back. Went 2-1.

Game 1 afainst Kuldotha Boros was grindy af but I drew all my AKs and beat him. Game 2 I resolved a gorilla shaman and ate 5 lands and later brought it back with Haunted Fengraf to eat 2 more.

Matche 2 against stompy I kept drawing counters rather than bolts and couldnt deal with the board. Game 2 I kept a hand with 2 bolts 1 counter and 4 lands and kept dtawing lands and counters. I countered everything but I couldnt de al with a 3/1 quirion.

Match 3 against RDW. Game 1 i had a god hand and he couldnt do shit. Game 3 I stabilizef at 2 life and a molten rain finished me. Game 3 my SGO kept te fort alive while I amassed CA.

Defnitely want more removal on the side. Thinking about 1 or 2 pillars of flame to deal with young wolfies

I'm building a similar list but mono u with 0-1 drop artifacts holding the line until myr enforcer, gearseeker serpent and bastion inventor come down, pick up the gear and start bashing. Also trinket mage cause that card is excellent. Tried a W version with cheap equipment and the white 1-2 drops that get +1/+1 and a keyword when equipped, but that felt like too many hoops to jump through for a mediocre payoff.

The removal in pauper is generally speaking better than the threats. Going tall without protection is asking for a blowout, but being able to power them out quickly is still good, and bastion inventor is hard to answer. The deck runs metallic rebuke and thoughtcast, so it has some longevity and disruption.

Anyone else playing a variant of this? As you can see from this list I'm still pretty undecided, I've been running a split of Satyr Wayfinder, Tilling Treefolk, and Krosan Tusker to see which one's I end up wanting most of the time for hitting my land drops. So far I like Krosan Tusker the best, but I'm not sure.

Also I have no idea what I'm doing with my sideboard, but getting Thoughtpicker Witch plus Mesmeric Fiend going against a grindy control deck is a joy that every person should experience.

If you have any cards to suggest I'd love to hear it. I learn about some new tech just about every time I bring this deck up.

Pauper Slivers falls under the same category of Modern Merrfolk. It's an archetype I like to call "Twelve Lords" for obvious reasons. You are of course welcome to try 3-4 colour sliver decks but unfortunately the most consistent and competitive versions are just Selesnya Twelve Lords.

It folds horribly to any deck with Evincar's Justice, particularly UB Control of any sort. Don't let that detract you from playing it though, it's a solid strategy.

You have gainlands and bounceable Radiant Fountains and Crypt Incursion and Pristine Talisman. Their creatures die the turn they come down and you have plenty of mainboard counters. Pre-board their Searing Blazes are unplayable and they have no answer to Pristine Talisman. Post-board you get more counters and Hydroblast, plus more win conditions in place of removal to end the game faster.

Occasionally they draw well enough that you just can't beat them, but I never dreaded burn when I played Teachings.

Why not? What else goes in this deck? Chucking out some vague ideas for land/graveyard recursion synergy in GR- Harrow, Crop Rotation, Tilling Treefolk, Pulse of Murasa, Terramorphic Expanse/Evolving Wilds, Hooting Mandrills, the cycle lands and panoramas, Faithless Looting, Cathartic Reunion- plenty of ways to nickle and dime value, but how does it actually win games?

There's also a possibility of mutual land destruction via Raze and Tremble, or adding in landfall creatures that have synergies with some of the above cards.
